👍 Popular drinking hole near the river. Get nice views of the boats. Tall cold beers. Foreigner friendly dishes although portions a little small. Gets very busy so can be difficult to get a seat. Was an enjoyable evening though. No complaints. People often mention river, good, time, Bangkok, view, staff, friendly, busy, great, visit,

A classic in Silom for sure. Even though it changed to another commercial oriented spot. We just went there for a couple of beers and it is always nice to come back and sit at the water. And you can even go there when it is raining linke mad! We tried it and you will stay dry😉 Large beers are 120 at the time I am writing this and also the little nibbles and snacks are tasty. But careful! Only cash accepted🤦🏻‍♂️

Great outdoor bar on the Bangkok River. The vibe was very Thai and relaxed. Loved the views and Chang beers and the food was good too. Very low key, not an upscale bar by all means but enjoyable .

Some of the best food I had in all of Bangkok. Great service, super fast, great prices and can’t beat the river view for the price. Wish I found it sooner on my trip would have came back multiple times.

A terrific little hole-in-the-wall, down the end of the road, right on the water. If you didn't know it was there, you would never find it. You can grab a seat looking out on the river, nice place to watch the sunset. The beer is cold, and the food is good.

Jacks bar never fails to impress. We heard they could arrange a river/klong cruise and with seconds we had a long boat to ourselves for 2 hours and a bag full of whiskey sodas 😀.... best 2500 baht ever spent.

I cannot be bothered to find more pictures of the food. So today’s sample stands in for the years. Their fried pork larb, with a sour hint of lime blending with savory spice, is sublime. Among the best in Bangkok. Once upon a time, this was a lost man’s noir bar just waiting to sink into the Chao Phraya. Bathroom visits were perilous. Conversations with more than a few patrons — equally tip-toed on the edge. People chase authenticity, turning places like this into tourist haunts, and for the lovely owners, that is just fine. I’d be remiss not to admit that the current crop of customers are far kinder than the pirates and vagabonds who used to rule this drift wood libation station at night. We are all grateful for the things we survived. Including the people ready to throw us over the rickety rails on an impulse. For most folks, who don’t live and die for my dying vision of Bangkok, this is a great place to eat, drink and drink some more. Let the sun set between Miami towers as you settle into the night. The baby monitor lizard tongue lashing the dock was the most dangerous think I saw today. Oh, how things change… Maybe all progress isn’t bad, even when it is. This was the instantiation of a no-longer sliver of the Bangkok night. But what it is now, is still worth your time. So take a load off and watch the world go by on water that is almost black even in the light. Make your own mythology of this place. Make your own I remember when. Even if it will all be cast away, one day (and it will). Life has taught me one thing: That is the only way…

Our visit to this restaurant was highly enjoyable for my family and me. They serve delightful Thai cuisine that caters to both locals and tourists. Adjusting the spiciness level is easily accommodated, as the staff is more than willing to assist. Every employee exudes kindness and possesses an excellent service attitude. The restaurant, which is by the river, offers stunning views during the day and a calm atmosphere at night. While it can get a bit loud occasionally, the majority of guests are quite courteous.

Very hole in the wall touristy place but it’s got a great vibe! The food here features many of the basic local favourites as well as some western food for tourists that can’t handle local cuisine. Good place to have a few beers and a few bites. Would recommend the super spicy seafood salad, then round out the meal with some congee to settle the heat down.

Excellent location to come and relax. I recommend this place for a midday bender in the weekends, come around noon and sit till sunset. The beers are cold, the staff is friendly and the view is second to none just down at the river. Food is ok, but not fantastic. And sometimes it can become a bit too busy for the people that work there so your order will be forgotten. But just ask again and they’ll bring you what you want. The bill is always right, at least when we’ve been there.

Nice little hidden restaurant and bar near the Chao Praya River. If you are looking for a local place to enjoy a few drinks then this is the place for you. We went there on a Saturday night and there was a long line waiting for table. The service was quite slow but the food is delicious. suitable for those who are not in a rush to go elsewhere. Each dish costs around 150-250 thb. The best thing about this restaurant is the river view! Recommend to come here for a drink rather than food.

Good experience, Good vibes, Nice view of Jaopaya river. Best place for dating or hangout with friends. The price of food is quite expensive for Thai. but if compare with the view and a quality it worth. You can see the sunset from this place. It’s beautiful. for sure, please make a reservation before coming. I have visited the bar again and also make a booking before I go from facebook page ( I will arrive at 6 PM) At 5:45 PM. I’m at Jack bar, I found that They didn’t book any seat for me because all the seat was took since yesterday. To make sure that you will have the table please use a phone call ask them, they can confirm the seat for you. Enjoy. This time I sat near the exit, here’s the view on last photo 🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲

A great location on the water, not far from Saphan Taksin BTS and Sathorn ferry terminal. Something of an institution and a must visit. Great atmosphere, very busy, so you might need to book for dinner. We were nearby with some time to kill so we took the opportunity. We didn't have time for food. Drinks were a little on the expensive side (200B for bottom shelf spirits) compared to what you can get in similar (or more salubrious) places. But you're paying for the experience, I guess. Definitely worth a visit late afternoon/early evening to watch the sun set over the water with a cool beverage.

We were looking for a riverside bar in Bangkok next to our stay. We stumbled upon this bar. The place is peaceful during the day time. Loved the food and drinks, all reasonably priced. Met a cute parrot too 🦜💘.Crowd starts kicking in after evening. Overall we had a good time here with our friends. ** you can take a boat taxi from this bar to anywhere you want to go.

Finding a place to drink by the river is not prety hard in Bangkok, here is one of those. The atmosphere is good, but you have to come a bit early. Reservation is recommended. Service is good as well.

Very cool little bar / restaurant right on the river and convenient to everything in Bangkok. There is a boat dock at this location to catch the river ferries and boat taxis. They have some seats that actually hang out over the water. Nice selection of drinks and a decent menu for food. Service was good.

Food is so good. Their service mind is amazing, even the restaurant was full. The servers are so nice and friendly. Price is also reasonable. Recommend to call and reserve table in advance and come after 6:00 pm because it was hot. Can’t believe there are 90% foreigners here!

This a small bar and restaurant situated on the river. If you want a seat overlooking the river get there early, we did not but asked the staff to give us seats when they become available which they did. Seating is compact which allows you to chat easily with fellow diners. Good relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. Food was ok. We sat for an hour watching the cruise boats and a good firework display on the river.

This is a wonderful and ideal located eatery and bar. One can enjoy very good Thai food (not too spicy) or sit back and relax just staring at the ship sailing on the river Chao Praya and have a beer or whatever you like. It can be busy in the weekends but the friendly staff always helps you to find a suitable table or a place at the bar overlooking the river. People are always cheerful and there is laughter and a friendly atmosphere. There is a nice mix of Thai people and foreigners from all over the world. It is my all time favorite place to go in Bangkok and I spend my first evening always here. Enjoy your stay!

The staff were so rude and didn't get served for an hour and a half and then when we finally did, they said food wasn't being served anymore. Would never go here again. The restaurant right outside jack's has incredible food and much nicer staff, cheaper as well. Much better

One of the most pocket friendly bars in Bangkok! It’s usually crowded with foreigners from literally all over the globe. The best part is that it’s situated near the river side which has an amazing view of the city. Don’t forget to make prior reservations if you want a seat exactly near the river side.

I went here with a few work mates early Sunday afternoon and enjoyed some local beers. They've got both large and small beers for a reasonable price. As time went on the place did get busier but the staff were able to keep up. I ordered pad Thai and staff were able to accommodate my vegan needs whilst my mates ordered morning glory and chicken. The view was pretty and it was enjoyable watching the long tail boats, party boats and jet skis going up and down the river as the sunset.

Good views of the river and skyscrapers and reasonably priced drinks. Had a pad Thai there too and it tasted good. Only downside was that some of the staff were a little unfriendly.

Nice bar by the river. A bit noisy, but it creates its own atmosphere. The river is heavily trafficked, which means that many ships of all kinds pass there. The staff was friendly and the food was good. The place is quite cramped, so if you have challenges with movement, you might want to visit the place in advance.

What a great spot overlooking Chau Phraya river. I don't think you would stumble over this place you have to seek it out. I arrived at about 4pm and only just got a seat and that was reserved for 7pm like a few others that were reserved. Food is cheap and superb !

Lovely cute, quaint place by the river (you can sit alongside the river. Love the wooden shack/greenery vibe. Usual Thai food contenders. Nice cold beer and cool breeze by the river. And sheltered from the rain

Great place next to the Chao Praya river for some rejuvenating and relaxing time. Variety of drinks and Thai food available. If you plan coming here during peak time, book a table earlier. Gets busy quick.

Jacks bar is iconic in Bangkok. Great river views, good food and drinks. Just an all around good time. The mens room has some venting issues I have to think.

  • 5/5 Richard M. 1 year ago on Google
If you find yourself in Bangkok with nothing to do and just want to kick back with a cold drink in your hand, great food on your plate and watch the world go up and down the river, there is no better place than Jack's Bar. The staff are very friendly, the beer is ice cold and the food is first class. If you go early afternoon, then sit next to the busy river watching boats ferry people across to the shopping centres and hotels. The only problem arrives when the sun starts to set, streaming into seats and making it quite hot. The best option is to book the riverside seats for when the sun goes down behind the buildings and the air begins to cool a bit. The food can take a while to reach you depending on how busy they are - BUT - don't let that put you off as it is worth the wait. A "must visit" place.

My favorite Bar of Bangkok. Right on the Chao Praya river beside the Shangri La and in front of the Peninsula. Always a very good service and a cosy atmosphere at any time of the day or the night. The river always brings you fresh air, no need to action the fans. Good music as well.

  • 5/5 Notis C. 2 years ago on Google
What a cool place! Best time to visit is during the sunset if you are lucky enough there will not be any drunk English people around that they usually ruin the atmosphere worldwide. Nice little b**** and believe it or not jazz music.

We have been to Jack’s Bar many times over the years we have lived in Bangkok but tonight we were treated horribly. It’s a shame that being a white person means you are treated horribly during times of Covid. What a huge disappointment.

We went here many times. With a chill and chic atmosphere, the food tastes so so, not very tasty, relatively high price from the dishes, the staff is rude. Not friendly at all, I recommend u to be more welcome or more good service, I probably won't go back again always disappointed

  • 5/5 Kawinthip C. 2 years ago on Google
Great place with wonderful view at nice and the staff had great service mind. I enjoyed my time there with my friends. I’ll always recommend and go back again. You should better have reservation if you want the seat with great view, especially Friday or Saturday.

One of the most favorite spots to hang out by the river. You won’t find posh style decorations or fine dining experience here. But you will get an affordable food price, beer price that is closer to the grocery store price here and an amazing view of the river if you are lucky.

  • 5/5 Gerry Whelan (. 1 year ago on Google
The location is fantastic. It's quite rustic, which for me, adds to the appeal. Prices are pretty good. Service was good, but slightly 'cool', probably because I'm a foreigner who speaks no Thai. Please do not let that sway your decision. If you love watching the world go by whilst sipping a beer, this is most definitely your place.

Went New Year’s Eve, no problems whatsoever. The servers and waiters were so nice and helpful. If it’s high tide, you can expect to get splashed a little by the waves if you’re sitting on the edges. Quite fun experience.

Crowded, noisy, basic, oily and tasteless food, slow service. You might enjoy this place if it's your first day ever in Bangkok, otherwise think twice. The view is quite enjoyable though

Incredible views of the river. Nice quality food. Very local vibe. Could do with getting new chairs to make it more comfortable. But other than that, a lovely place to visit. A must if you are in Bangkok.

People call it a secret bar nrear Chao Phraya river. Omg it was totally full without booking. I have got a table outside the bar. The hospitality of all staffs made me love to be here. Finally, we got a table after 2hrs :) happy to be here.

Jack's Bar is located right on the river, and it's an amazing view. The food is very good. It's definitely worth a repeat visit. One word if caution...review your bill, as we were erroneously charged 2 extra drinks.
