A sad relic of a once quality, top class hotel ! The lobby is beautifully maintained, as is the swimming pool area. Sadly this is not so with the rooms. We booked into a superior or standard Room and noticed that the hotel has fallen on hard times. Torn sheets, dated fittings, daily room clean only if one telephoned and requested, indifferent staff, unhappy faces......How much worse can it get. The hotel is crying out for rooms to be updated, modernised and maintained. At the present the rooms have fallen into sad neglect and staff training is urgently needed - to restore what was once a quality, top class hotel. We loved the Tawana and have stayed there quite often in the 90s and early part of 2000s. Was once a great place to spend a few days at. What we experienced this month October 2021 is a shock.

I stayed at this hotel twice earlier this year and it was relatively decent, I stayed in the deluxe room (which is significantly better than the superior rooms). This time my wife and I stayed in the superior room. Our first room was in the non smoking section and had a toilet without spray nozzle. My wife being Thai, was very displeased about this and of the many times I’ve stayed in thailand, I have never seen a hotel or residence without a spray nozzle next to the toilet. The front desk staff, who are very nice and professional people, quickly changed our room with a more Thai/Asian appropriate toilet. The second room was on the 8th floor, which is a smoking floor. The hallway carpeting is very dirty with a strong odor of tobacco permeating from the floors, it was the same for the room too. The restroom was decent except the shower lost it’s cold water halfway through our 5 day stay. Housekeeping was lazy and forgetful. The never replenished any toiletries (shower caps, shampoo, soap, cotton buds, hand soap) and I always had to ask for toilet paper when we were low. Sheets were never changed during our stay. I don’t expect daily sheet changes, but after 5 days I thought they would do. The towels were old and torn and the bed sheets had some minor old stains. The hotel is greatly in need of an update and renovation. All of the above led us to decide to take a loss on the booking and check out 9 days early. Hotel and housekeeper get 1 star but the front desk and cafe staff get 5 stars. They were all very nice and professional. The cafe makes a decent breakfast and great cups of coffee.

The room was so dirty. There was a used shower cap in my room. Toilet paper was probably left there a century ago, it was old, yellow, and swell like it was wet at one point and got dried. Bedsheet was dirty, no outlet near bedside which made it inconvenient to charge phone. Tv had only limited channels. Breakfast was only a couple options to select from. We paid for the room with breakfast, I’d say save your money and go get food elsewhere. Overall I’m unimpressed and would not recommend this hotel. I don’t ever want to discredit the hotel and every business struggling to survive in the midst of pandemic, but we were paid customer and didn’t stay there for free, we expected more from such a long standing hotel.

This is my first time that I had the meeting there from 8 am to 8 pm. I was so impressed with their staff. They provided us great, great and great services. The restrooms were always cleaned. The food and snack were delicious. All staff services from their hearts.

Hotel looks nice, but there rooms are extremely hot and air conditioning cannot keep up. When I called front desk, the guy told me that temperature cannot go below 23 degrees C (controlled). The hotel has made it a policy to keep the temperature at 23 degree?! FYI Ideal sleeping temperature is between 18-20 degrees C. No point in staying here unless you enjoy sweaty nights. They might as well give room without covers.

You get what you pay for. The staff are very friendly. However, the pictures are misleading as the rooms are much older than shown. The toiletries shown aren’t given as pictured as well. I’ve included what was actually given. Half the lamps did not work. The toilet is American so the water level is relatively high than what I’m used to. You cannot control the temperature of your room so the AC is blasting cold air constantly - that may be a good or bad thing for you. For me, it was so cold I had to remove the keycard because it was that cold. The rooms aren’t that sound proof. I could hear the customer above me with a female guest at 0300am. Good thing is inviting guest is very discreet.

I visit to their cafe this morning around 9.30, there was only one customer except me. I sat in the little room but they said I cannot sit there, I need to book and pay. The cafe is already almost empty and still they do this. So i had to change my spot! Then I wanted to order an American breakfast and there was some bakery on its picture, so I asked them to change it to pancakes, they said they cannot do it. So I said you are losing your customers because you are not trying to help at all and its a wrong marketing strategy. Then I sat in the wall side table (the one stays on the middle of room) to plug my laptop (its in the place when you enter from cafe door and turn left) , the socket is not even working. So I needed to change my spot again. I think they could be more helpful to the customers.

Restored hotel, heavily discounted for covit. Great bed, haven't slept that good in years. Restaurant, good food, reasonably priced. Taxi to chula hospital 50 baht. Very quiet, staff efficient, 7/11 across road. Very clean, cannot complain.
