I encountered a scam at this hotel. When we checked in in the morning, we booked five rooms. The manager quoted me a package price, and we paid the full amount. At the same time, the manager asked us about our departure flight time, saying that if we were leaving early, we could move the breakfast on the day of departure to the day of check-in. At that time, I was grateful for the hotel's thoughtful service, but I didn't realize this was the beginning of a scam. We stayed in this hotel for two days. On the third morning when we left for the airport, the manager claimed that the quote was wrong, refused to let us leave, and called the police. When I asked why she didn't raise this issue for two full days and had to bring it up when we were going to the airport, she refused to answer. The police said we couldn't leave without the manager's permission, and we had to pay almost double the original price to be allowed to catch our flight. This scam was very cleverly designed because we had three types of rooms and three different prices. When the manager quoted the price, she wrote it on one piece of paper for the team leader to see, and then wrote it on five pieces of paper after raising the price of each room. The occupants of each room signed on the paper, and everyone thought the price was their own and did not realize that the price had gone up. Asking about our flight time at the end was to make sure we didn't have time to argue. And this kind of scam is only for small teams whose English is not very good. I have been to Thailand five times, and there are tricks in many scenic spots, but I didn't expect such a good hotel to start such a scam. This hotel has a high rating on Google, which is one of the reasons why I chose it. Perhaps due to the damage caused by the epidemic, the hotel has lost its business ethics due to economic pressure.

We only stayed for one night but this hotel was beautiful. The rooms were large and well-kept and the beds were super comfortable (which we found hard to come by in Thailand). The staff were wonderful and the pool area was gorgeous. We had a city facing view, but our friends had a river view room which overlooked the pool & river and was lovely. We didn't eat at the hotel at all, but our friends said it was underwhelming. They let us check out a couple of hours late which was very helpful for us.

This is a fantastic hotel my wife and I have stayed here 3 times and will be again next year most likely. Located right on the river with great views from river side rooms. There is a public pier a short walk away where you can easily and cheaply jump on one of the many Chao Phraya express boats to travel up or down the river to China town, Sathorn etc etc. The famous Khao San road is only a 5 minute walk away, as long as you don't stop too many times as there are many street food stalls, restaurants, bars and vendors selling all manner of things on the way. A short taxi or tuk tuk ride can take you to the start of Khlong Saen saep where you can take a very cheap and fast boat ride all the way to Pratunam district, well known for department stores such as MBK, Platinum Fashion Mall, Pratunam Market, CentralWorld, Big C Supercenter (Big C Rajdamri), etc. The rooms are excellently presented and spacious, many with great views of the river (highly recommended). The restaurant is very good for evening dining and cocktails etc. Breakfast is also good with a good range of fruits, egg station etc. As far as the service goes I can not say enough about the staff, they are absolutely fantastic, it's a pleasure to walk in the entrance. Also I'd like to say if you have read the very bad review that someone wrote about being intentionally scammed by the hotel staff, my wife and I have visited Bangkok more than 30 times over 20+ years and I can say that it is extremely unlikely that they intentionally tried to scam anyone. Thai people are generally very honest. I'm sure the whole thing is probably a simple mistake. Don't hesitate to choose this hotel we highly recommend it.

My wife and I stayed here while we were in Bankok, and we really loved this place. The staff are Excellent, the location is right beside the river, which makes traveling to other locations very fast and easy. One of the main reasons that my wife and I wanted to come to Thailand was the food, and there was a large selection of amazing local food, very close to this hotel. Highly recommended.

Very good location, excellent and helpful service, nice gym and pool, clean rooms. Everything was right. I would stay there again when back in Bangkok. I loved the view from the riverside room. Worth paying more to wake up to it :)

Amazing staff. Good breakfast. Not always hot in temperature but new dishes to try each day. Quiet. Close to smaller night market but if you want to Koh San Road it is possible but far.

This place was lovely and allows pets for those traveling with one. They setup a little pet area. I have a cat so there was even a litter box! I also celebrated my birthday while here and they sent up a cake to the room :).

I stayed here for just one night at the very end of my Thailand trip, and it was easily my favorite hotel of the whole trip. The room was clean, spacious, and very comfortable. The staff was exceedingly friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The complimentary bottle of wine waiting for me in the room was a pleasant surprise. My room had a balcony overlooking the river, which was just lovely. As for the location -- I've been to Bangkok before, and I tend to always stay in this general area, because there are so many good restaurants, bars, etc. nearby, and also the Phra Arthit pier is right up the street. Will definitely stay here again on my next trip to Bangkok.

Stayed here for a 3 night stopover with my Family. Unfortunately our youngest son had developed an ear infection and required a doctor during our stay. The hotel staff were very helpful and attentive ensuring we got to see a doctor very quickly. Special thanks to Piaow on the front desk who always made sure everything was ok with our stay and that our son was ok from his ear infection. Thank you for a lovely stay

Lovely hotel with river views. Great location and good choice on the breakfast buffet. Restaurants and shops within easy walking distance, and tutuks and river taxi easily available for all the sights of Bangkok.

My stay at the Riva Surya Hotel was brief, but it was enough for me to gauge the level of service it provides. I was given a balcony room on the top floor, which was spacious, clean, and inviting. The bed was comfortable, and the working desk was perfect for my needs. As I entered the room, I was greeted by two elephant-shaped towels on the bed, each with a flower on top, and a covered fruit plate on the desk. The mini bar was stocked with a wide variety of beverages, and there were enough amenities to ensure a comfortable stay. Operating the light was a bit tricky - the switches are located on the right hand side of the headboard rail. One thing that stood out to me was the doorman who was always present at the entrance, welcoming every guest upon arrival and departure. The receptionist was very clear with instructions and was always ready to help with any requests I had. Although the price was a bit steep, it was reasonable considering the high season. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Riva Surya Hotel and would love to stay there again in the future.

We had a lovely stay at Riva Surya. The hotel is beautifully located by the river and many tourist highlights are nearby, think the Royal Palace, the reclining Buddha, Khaosan Road and China Town. We also stayed briefly in the Sukhomvit district; also nice but a bit 'hip and happening' and therefore (surprisingly) more expensive and less authentic than the district where Riva Surya is located. You can hop on a boat from the hotel for a tour (via the adjacent pier). Very friendly staff who are always there for you. Beautiful swimming pool, nice luxury rooms and a delicious breakfast. Absolutely recommended if you want a nice stay in Bangkok.

Beautiful and charming hotel with Chaopraya River view, the room was spacious and clean, full amenities in bathroom. Food and drink has a little choice and expensive. Freindly and helpful staff.

Spent a few nights at this beautiful hidden gem. The staff were extremely friendly and got to know each of us while we were there. Facilities were clean and I had the best massage of my trip with the masseuse here. The pool was beautiful and we had a Riva room which had amazing views of the boats passing by at night.

Had the place virtually to ourselves due to covid . The room was as online booking photos. Lovely view across river. Extras in the room which I personally thought are 5 star, coffee machine with capsules with decaf coffee and mugs all these I have never come across In my hotel stays (3-4 star). Loved the big comfortable sofa on balcony. Pool was beautiful Couldn't comment on food as we eat out Would definitely visit again Also loved the personal touch of giving a thankyou card.

The location of this hotel was great - convenient to a very touristy area of Bangkok! It was reasonably priced for being a higher end hotel, too. The staff was accommodating and friendly, and requests were fulfilled. My 2 criticisms - the room did not have an ironing board and iron in it (which is usually pretty standard). In addition, the restaurant had very poor service and waiters were not very attentive. Buffet breakfast was good - included an egg station and all the usual suspects. The hotel even provided me with a breakfast box as I checked out at 4AM for a flight which was a very nice surprise!

Even though the location next to main road parallel with the famous backpacking neighborhood Khao San road. But the room have a good soundproof wall, clean, comfortable and convenient. For boutique hotel the room size actually quite spacious with nice balcony views of Chao Phraya River. Is near to the boat taxi that’s easily to going around neighborhoodz

What a so kind and grateful!! Air conditioner of my room seemed like some trouble at 10 pm and asked whether to check. The hotel suggested to move a expensive room(but I couldn't accept it), then I found a dish with fresh fruits in my room when to get back.

Our first hotel during our tour of Thailand did not disappoint. Although the entrance is not encouraging, once you step into the foyer the quality of the hotel shines through. Rooms were quiet and well appointed and ours had a balcony with river views. The views were worth having though we preferred sitting on the terrace beside the inviting pool rather than on our balcony. Breakfasts were good; but we opted to eat out at the many nearby small restaurants for other meals. There‘s an attractive coffee cafe and bar right next door if you fancy a change of scenery.

We went in November 2023, and this hotel is superb. The room is overlooking the Chao Phraya, so the view was magnificent. The boats passing by were very entertaining and the sunset and sunrise views were gorgeous. Size wise, the room was huge and the classical design was very captivating. We also had complimentary fruits, cake and wine for our honeymoon, plus a voucher to be used at Babble & Grill. The staffs are amazingly helpful and friendly; always reminding you to be careful at the steps right before entering the lobby. Other than some mosquitoes and limited parking space, we do not have any complains. Highly recommended and we will definitely come again!

This is a 5* hotel. The hotel has great authenticity and ambience with a great location. The rooms are comfy and well appointed and the staff are friendly and helpful. It is on the main river near a popular pier and the canal so we have travelled to all the main temples and the Grand Palace quickly and cheaply. The beds are comfy and the showers are amazing. The patio and bar are lovely- there really is nothing to not love! We travelled with 3 kids and loved the welcome from the staff and the decor. A real gem!

The hotel upgraded our room to the one with river view and balcony upon arrival ! The receptionists were so sweet to provide the birthday cake also even we didn’t mention it during booking. There are many sightseeing spots nearby. The location of the hotel is easy to travel around as well, not only for road trip but also the river trip. The stay experience here is awesome! Thank you!

We loved the location of the hotel, the service was good and we felt the room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. Unfortunately there was a horrible mold/musty smell in our room that made it really difficult to enjoy our stay overall. We tried to just be out of the hotel room as much as possible so we weren't breathing that in.

Great hotel that is right on the river and near khaosan road as well as all the temples. Excellent spot to call grab or walk to all your touristy destinations. Room is also very modern and clean. The restaurant at the hotel is very expensive even by Californian standards which is saying a lot, but no worries, plenty of other places to eat.

My experience at Riva Surya was overall very positive. We stopped there during our honeymoon travels. The staff was very helpful, answering questions and helping my husband and I get to where we needed to be. The room was clean, the bed was comfy and the service was excellent. The reason I am giving them only 4 stars is because of the restaurant/room service. One night during our stay my husband and I had wanted to just lay low and order room service for dinner. I tried calling the line from our room, but no one answered. I called the front desk, they reached out to the kitchen and said the kitchen would call us back. We waited 45 minutes and no call. We ended up venturing out and found a great place down the street. But that experience was disappointing after the excellent service we got from everyone else.

Reception is the best! Very helpful for questions and solves all the problems very quickly. Thai massage was really good. More importantly, the facility together with rooms are almost perfect especially with the near-river location. The restaurant in it is also very delicious. Highly recommended!

The room is nice, the view is good just beside river . The only complaint is about the room temperature , I can not lower the AC temp, it will be to cold or to hot . the ceiling is short , the ac wind blow directly to your bed , it seems the remote room temp is broken , can not sleep very well .. in the end , I turn of the AC .

Beautiful hotel right on the Chao Phraya river! Beautiful pool right on the river with a gorgeous view. Nice hotel bar. Brunch is also very good in the hotel. Near Khao San road but still in a quiet area.

Beautiful hotel, attentive staff, impeccable food… just a complete oasis in a fun and vibrant part of Bangkok (close to amazing street food and cool bars). Completely recommend staying here.

The staff are really nice and the pool in great although it was shallow. When we turned on the air conditioner there was a severe smell of mould. The staff kindly offered us an alternative room but it had the same problem but less severe. Unfortunately we had to leave the hotel. I think the mould built up during COVID-19. The staff were cooperative and gave us a refund.
