I highly advise you spend a little more and stay somewhere else. The level of water damage and mold is extremely concerning in these rooms. You can smell it upon opening the door to your room, and it's visible all over the bathroom. The bed felt like sleeping on a box spring, I'm not exaggerating. The pillows were hard and flat. I regret staying here but I was with several other families. The entire block is homeless people but that is the least of my concerns with this place.

DON'T EVER COME HERE ๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ“We just checked into the hotel and the first impression was crazy because of the front desk woman in it..she acts like we come here for free without no respect talking very rudely it's really disturbing we don't want to pay and get this attitude please think twice before you come here.. and again they charge 10 baht per bag whether it's small or big for keep it in the lobby this is the first time we saw some hotel charge for bags even when we had a stay here

I would definitely avoid this hotel. I chose based on location to khaosan road but it is not worth it. Upon checking in there was a bus load of people trying to check in and only 1 person working reception, took a long time. Hotel and Rooms are super old, beds very firm, bathroom was not clean. Across the street there is homeless people sleeping on the sidewalk I wouldnโ€™t say this area is family friendly. I do not recommend this hotel at all.

DID NOT LOOK LIKE THE PICTURES. The hotel is in a great location BUT the place was seriously lacking, our room was quite tiny and the bathroom was awful. We arrived, were put in a double single room instead of the one bed and had no towels (which they disputed and came to our room to check we were telling the truth). The place inside had old carpet and the pool was a lot smaller than the pictures and kind of dirty. Also had to pay a deposit for the room which was returned after check out. Would not return here.

Terrible hotel, the most disgusting stain filled hotel we have ever been to in our 30 years of worldwide traveling. The whole hotel is filled with stains, from the carpets in the hall to every room. Even 'clean' bedsheets have stains in them. Also, after arriving the staff were not very welcoming, like other hotels/hostels in Thailand are. We notified staff about the stains and they offered a different room. Likewise this room was filled with stains, damages on furniture etc. After we declined this room, we were offered a 3rd room in the 'renovated' area. This room should not have any stains. However, upon arriving in this room we noticed mold, water damage and even (bed)bugs in the bathroom (see picture). Don't expect a 4 star hotel. The hotel looks like nothing has been changed in the past 30 years. It is old and dirty. What we booked was a hotel with view, but instead of that we got a room with a perfect view on nothing (see picture). We have had better rooms and service all over Thailand and other countries in cheaper, clean hotels and hostels with way better customer service. We could not get a refund, because that was 'not according to policy'. At that point we decided to stay one night, because we were to tired to leave but we left the hotel the next day. It was a horrible experience.

The hotel has it's long history since WW II. I personally like some old but charismatic character of the place. The room is big, it offers 1 single bed and 1 double bed which I found quite comfy. The hotel stand right on the corner opposit Sanam Luang which allows me easy access to many must see places in Bangkok such as The Grand Palace, Temple of The Emerald Buddha, etc. I sure will come for another visit and would recommend for travellers who enjoy sightseeing around town, probably not for those who looking for luxury escape.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!! Unless you want to stay somewhere that is not clean and is extremely dated!! Had a 2 bedroom suite booked here and as soon as we saw the room we checked back out immediately. The room was disgusting. Nothing was clean. The furniture was completely stained, the bedsheets were not clean. We felt dirty just being in the room and could not even sit down, let alone sleep in there. We went back to reception and told them we were checking out. Asked to speak to a manager and she was fully aware of the state of the room and seems like she has heard the same complaint 1000 times. However we have not received a full refund. Paid for 3 nights and only received 2 nights cost back. Worst hotel I have ever been too!! It looks nothing like the pictures on the website. Thankfully we were able to book another hotel online, which was The Mulberry Hotel Bangkok, which was right in the middle of Khaosan Road. Which was 10x better and had a lovely rooftop pool too!

The lady Kate from reception was extremely rude, I think she is the reason why many reviews complain that the reception is rude. 1. She interrupted my important question when another guest came by saying โ€œI have another IMPORTANT guest to serveโ€ and then I had to wait 5 minutes until she finished replying questions of another guests. And my question was only for 1 minute to check options to call taxi. She even didnโ€™t say sorry. 2. Later when I told her that I didnโ€™t feel comfortable when she said that another guest is more important, she just said โ€œI donโ€™t careโ€ I didnโ€™t experience such an attitude in nightmares. P.S. all that happened on 23 December at 10 PM

My worst experience of a hotel. The room was decent at best, the food is very bad but worst of all the staff (especially the ladies in the reception) are incredibly rude and wonโ€™t help you in the slightest. They snap at you, roll their eyes and says โ€œnoโ€ before you even asked the question. There are so many better hotels so do not stay here! Itโ€™s not worth the money and the headache the staff causes you.

ROOMS ARE OKAY I booked my stay here for 3 nights and i enjoyed it. Opted to get a breakfast inclusion but disappointed as breakfast menu is the same I believe ( as far as my 3 night stays there, its always the same food served ) They also have restaurants, spa and other amenities at the hotel. Location is good especially only about 5-7 min walk to Khaosan Rd.

It's very old hotel.. with lots of room.. but service wise didn't feel good.. especially service staffs n other crew, mostly it's because it's a huge hotel n 100s of guests coming n going. Pros- they allowed me for early check in.. also late check out by 15.00 by charging 500THB.. Location really at the middle of city. Lots of famous site seeing area in walkway distance. Cons- old room.. n room facilities ancient.. service staffs not even cleaning properly, as while checked in I can see previously used bathroom towels there too.

Loved the rooms. Quite spacious, clean, and mature look. The washroom also has a bathtub and it was my first time using a bathtub. There's also a swimming pool in this hotel. This hotel is basically close to all the ministries, the supreme court, the Grand Palace, Khao San Road, etc. Apart from that, all basic amenities are present. The staff are helpful.

I had the pleasure of staying one night at this exquisite hotel. The room exuded a cozy ambiance and adhered to the highest industry standards of cleanliness. The atmosphere was serene, creating a peaceful environment. The breakfast offered was of exceptional quality. The staff demonstrated great courtesy and were always ready to assist. Their exemplary customer service truly enhanced our stay. I wholeheartedly recommend this establishment to anyone seeking a superb place to lodge.

I am just so disappointed, I come because the pool and it close at 6 pm, it is super hot, who close the pool in hot weather? The whole building doesn't have air conditioning, only the rooms, also smell bad, the bed smells bad, the pictures aren't the same with the reality, for the price I really recommend other places.

Starting with the recieption, busy, lots of people waiting in line and only one recieptionist. They are 3 staff at recieption desk but only one is working. Then I check in and go to my room, door is open and is dirty, used. Cleaning lady tells me to wait 30 mins, I go to recieption and they tell me to wait 10, I waited for 1 hour, rechecked again and given same room, I go check the room and it still not cleaned yet. I waited in the corridor 20 for the cleaning crew to clean my room. Third, gave me an expired breakfast coupon and 1 less coupon for my booking. They only give 1 key card, and they charge whole security deposit for a key card if it was lost. Breakfast is between 6:30-9:30 with limited menu. Hotel Restuarant closes as soon as 8:30 p.m. Lasty, most annoying point is that AC only works if key card is placed inside the room. I positive point is the location of this hotel. It is very close/walking distance from tourism sites like Grand Palace, Naval Shooting Range, and other temples. I would not recommend unless there are no other hotels available even for higher prices.

This hotel really needs a renovation! Everything is old and outdated. AC is not so good. Some parts of the floor carpet are still dirty. Not enough electrical outlet and not the universal one. Only the good thing is the location. But you can find more decent hotel near Khao San road.

Great location. Really classy old hotel. But the rooms are something out of the 1960s and have not been changed since then... Ancient two prong electrical plugs on the wall. Dingy dark brown carpet that makes you want to keep your shoes on. The neighborhood used to be probably very nice but now it's very seedy, lots of homeless sleeping on the sidewalks all around the hotel.

The place was clean and quiet, however the food portions were child-sized, and out of all the internet connections available, none were stable enough to maintain a connection when just trying to simply call family and friends. *Side note, I think I speak for almost everyone when I say... people coming out of quarantine, reuniting with friends or family probably don't want those moments spoiled by having their pictures taken, right at that exact time.

The Dim-sum here was average. But what's very superb was the waiters hospitality. Parking is free if you are here for that. But the hotel is very accessible by mass transit or taxi for tourists.

Avoid this hotel, I have no idea how this is rated as a 4 star hotel. In the rooms the doors were falling apart quite literally bits of door hanging off. First room we had I could see bed bugs on the bed, so requested to change room, staff were unhelpful and come across as rude. Ended up booking a completely different hotel and not even staying there even though we had paid the night. Thatโ€™s how bad it was.

Great rooms for family. Accessible to many site seeing locations. But, Breakfast mostly has pork. Can't checkin early.

Old refurbished hotel, very nice. Rooms are OK, free wi-fi inside. Location is more convenient for people looking after historic district. But Khao San is still just 4 minutes walking....

Poor welcome, no respect about booking request... Asking a quite room in higher floors. Result : a noisy room 1st floor aside hvac engines. but bedding ok. + food as lower average . I will not come back with such greetings.

Considering the price, the hotel was okay - but did definitely not live up to the โ€œ4-star hotelโ€ standard. Rooms were pretty nice, but the air conditioning didnโ€™t work properly, there was no hand soap, and the bathroom smelled of cigarettes. Beds were very nice though. Other hotel facilities were okay at best. The pool was freezing cold and the breakfast buffet did not live up to the prize. The staff were pretty friendly and helpful, although there seemed to be way too many staff people considering the hotel was pretty empty. You sort of had this eerie feeling of walking around a ghost hotel, but oh well, I guess too much staff isnโ€™t a bad a thing as a guest. There are hostels in Bangkok that are in the same price range (a bit cheaper) that I would rather recommend, such as the Khao San Social Capsule Hostel not too far away - but I wouldnโ€™t advise against staying at the Royal Rattanakosin hotel. Our stay here was decent.

Awesome location, close to a lot of main tourist attractions including a night market. Staff was friendly. Rooms are outdated, floor stained, breakfast is ok... Wouldnt choose breakfast again and rather venture outside. Would come back for a night or two.

The room my partner and I stayed in had absolutely nothing to do with the photos online showing the rooms. If we knew how the rooms looked like in reality, we would not booked the hotel at all. Housekeeping was coming into the room at 9am without knocking. The hotel is extremely outdated and even slightly spooky. There are a lot of homeless people right outside the hotel. We also had a lizard in our room :)

This hotel is old but clean. staffs were kind and it has a good location to khasan road and a river.. we stayed at 2 room suite, not cheap but very spacious and comfortable... a lunch buffet is acceptable. The price is only $6. Of course, donโ€™t expect a quality and various menuโ€ฆ but considering price, it is not so badโ€ฆ

A short walk away from khaosan area, though having to cross some very busy roads. Fortunately the crossings were working fine. Also a short distance away are the grand Palace and wat pho, both of which are well worth the time to visit. On the surface of it, this hotel was probably quite luxurious in the past. Whilst it is in a very good location it needs updating and a refurbishment. That being said, the staff are very helpful and the reception is available 24 hours. There is also a secure car park on the premises with a security guard in attendance. In the mornings there is an open buffet for 200baht. Mainly consisting of fresh fruit, some Thai dishes, eggs and ham and toast. Fresh tea, coffee and fruit juices as well.

Very old, mold, stains on furniture and sheets. Kettle but no coffee or tea provided. Changed rooms two times. First was soiled old carpet, second had roaches. Tried to get a refund or partial but just gave another room. The boy that took me to the new room seemed to hate his job. The very small elevator has the smell of "musty". The pictures look better than actual.

One of the old style Bangkok hotels that has survived, probably because of its location and history. I did not stay here for over 30 years but visited the lobby restaurant to reminice. The food and menu (as far as I remember) has not changed that much and the Tuna sandwich still comes on slightly toasted bread with a side salad and prawn crackers. Of course 30 years ago this was the hight of western dining ๐Ÿ˜‚

Photos are from 20 years ago when hotel was opened, hotel is very outdated, dirty, has carpets inside the rooms and they haven't been washed for years! Swimming pool not useful even for dogs swim! Mold in the bathroom, in room 268 there's a door joining to another room and they pretty much made of paper. Stay away from it!
