We had our office holiday party here, and it was a hit with everyone. The restaurant is beautiful, with a lovely blend of Thai and Malay decor. The food was a tasty fusion of Malay and Thai, and was beautifully presented. Well worth the price. Although the glass-encased rooftop bar was not open yet, we could see that it will definitely be the highlight of the restaurant. Looking forward to returning when the rooftop bar is open and trying more delicious dishes and cocktails.

The place was well designed and has a good feels. I like the shrimp appetizers and enjoyed it a lot. I would say the owner and the staff is wonderful and will for sure take care of the customers. I haven't tried one of the drinks and the owner made me try it first before ordering. I was a little caught off guard that the tax is exempted as it is a bit uncommon here in Thailand.

We dropped by for lunch for our last day in Bangkok, and we loved it. As a Singaporean who grew up around Peranakan people, I have exacting standards for Peranakan food. Jyak rose to those standards. The standout for me was the kerabu kacang botol (wing bean salad). The culture of eating kerabu has faded in Singapore, so it was rather a nostalgic surprise to be able to taste it in Bangkok. The kerabu itself was just like grandma would’ve made: spicy and fragrant with kerisik, bunga kantan, serai… We also loved the char kway teow. Perfect char from the wok, and the lard was shatteringly crisp. Dessert is chef’s choice, but they had orh nee (yam paste) when we went and it was very good.

Jyak & Lym is a great new place for Peranakan/Nyonya cuisine (which is basically a fusion of different cuisines found throughout south and southeast Asia) that is near the Salae Daeng BTS/Lumphini Park. It's a four floor restaurant with main dining on the third floor and a cocktail bar located on the 4th floor and the rooftop. The decor is intentionally eclectic - chairs, tables, even the upholstery on the bench seating were selected and placed so as to create a fun and harmonious balance - which helps to set it apart from the more standardized and somewhat boring designs of other restaurants (this may of course speak to personal bias, or perhaps to childhood trauma and chain restaurants, but such is taste). I went on a date here and ordered five dishes (see pictures). The Chicken Satay was perfectly cooked - my usual experience with these kinds of skewers is that they are either dry or tough or overcooked - these were not. (And I know what constitutes properly cooked chicken - many are the birds that have died for my somewhat repetitive bodybuilder kind of diet). Pie Tee are these perfectly excellent thin, crisp pastry cups filled with stir fried meat, carrots and turnips. It came with a non-spicy chili garnish. Absolutely recommend. My favorite main dish was the Duck Egg Char Koay Teow, and it's their most popular seller. I think the easiest way to conceptualize it is as a variant of pad Thai in that a lot of the underlying elements and textures are the same, but the flavors are quite distinctly different. My date particularly enjoyed the Nyonya Nasi Goreng (rice and shrimp dish) - to the point where he tried to convince me that I should just let him have that... Our final dish was the Beef Rendang. I have a particular fondness for anything with a coconut base and I liked the (from an American mindset anyway) Christmassy spices (cinnamon, star anise, cloves) that were used in the sauce. I will say that across the board, none of the food felt greasy or heavy. It was all really beautifully prepared and a pleasure to eat. It was also served in a very timely manner and not weirdly staggered - things came out when they were supposed to come out and came out quickly. I will definitely be going back and am looking forward to trying everything on the menu!

Dropped in on this new restaurant and was blown away by the good food and gest ambience. Every dish we had was superb and the Malaysian Inspired cocktails were creative and delicious, served with classy square ice, no less! So the bar lounge was not ready yet so theres more reason to come back and hang out for good food, drinks and ambience.

Jyak & Lym restaurant is strategically located in Sathorn of Bangkok City. The restaurant maintains its authenticity and offers delicious Peranakan Nyonya cuisine. I highly recommend trying their superb Duck Egg Char Koay Teow (very fragrant), Hokkien Style fried noodle, chicken satay (meats are tender and with turmeric spices, served with peanut sauce), Sambal goreng and Assam Pork. Additionally, their dessert is so delicious! The restaurant offers excellent customer service. We will highly recommend this place to our family and friends, and we look forward to coming back here in the near future!

I had an absolute delight dining at Jyak & Lym. The food was rich in authentic flavors, and the cozy atmosphere added a perfect touch to the overall dining experience. Highly recommend it to anyone craving Peranakan Cuisine in the heart of Bangkok.

Amazingly authentic Malaysian peranakan food in Bangkok! I’m usually not a Char Kuay Teow person but the version here is full of wok-hei flavor with crunch from the lard and bean sprouts that we wiped the plate clean ✨ The satay was super tender and well marinated and the prawn sambal goreng was a unique dish not commonly found. Service was super friendly and efficient, and the decor is glammed up shophouse retro chic. Will be back for the Char Kuay Teow!
