Without a doubt one of the best museums I've seen on the African continent. Incredible amount of objects and artifacts, all labelled and well displayed, dating from the stone age up until today. Absolutely worth visiting if you are in Banjul.

A tardis-like museum with an excellent permanent exhibition upstairs focusing on prehistoric and pre-colonial Africa. A bit shabby, but well worth a visit for anyone interested in African and Gambian history.

National Museum of the Gambia= The museum is not a big building but informative enough to cover the history of the Gambia. Lots of artefacts starting from the stone age to the present which are of cultural and historical interests can be seen displayed. If you are interested about history like i do then i can recommend to visit this place when you happen to be in Banjul.

A nice learning experience about the history of The Gambia. Not laid out in the best and most cohesive way but nice to read and walk around all the same. If you're in banjul its worth a visit

(Translated by Google) Small museum, history about the country. Not bad for people interested in Gambia. For photos you take in the museum you have to pay about two euros. (Original) Kleines Museum, Geschichte über das Land. Nicht schlecht für die Leute die sich über Gambia interessieren. Für Fotos die man im Museum macht muss etwa zwei Euro bezahlen.

A really nice place to go on for a school field trip! I just went and it was amazing! Lots of history! The building was a little bit run down though.

every attempt to keep and develop history should be awarded, otherwise standards and expectations before it's visiting have to be lowered.

Don’t mind going there. The staff isn’t friendly at all. They will scam you. I had to pay a non Gambian fee even though I’m Gambian and have a house here. But no, they won’t acknowledge my ethnicity. Not so much things to see and poorly preserved.

The National Museum of the Gambia. Located at the Capital City, Banjul Island. One of the best places to know the history of the Smiling Coast of Africa. A must visit place.

Quite possibly the most ridiculous Museum I have ever been to. They try to charge 200 GMD to enter and then another 200 GMD to take photos. Don't waste your time going to this poorly run scam of a 'museum'.

It is a nice place to visit but I think Gambia still lack historical records as it was a good place at the time of slavery and a lot of rich history

(Translated by Google) Very interesting. It is not forbidden to take pictures but you pay a small amount for this (like everywhere in The Gambia ;-)). Definitely recommended to walk through it with your guide and to ask what you see and read. (Original) Zeer interessant. Het is niet verboden foto's te maken maar je betaald hier een klein bedrag voor (zoals overal in Gambia ;-) ). Zeker een aanrader om er met je guide door te lopen en door te vragen op wat je ziet en leest.
