Just behind the Arco delle Meraviglie, you enter this little alley and just on the right of it there is Carletto with his 4 exclusive tables just in front of our house. This is the unique experience of Puglia. All the love and kindness of the people. Carlo has made and incredible little jem.

Carlos makes this place a very personal experience. He is the chef and the waiter. Welcomed with open arms to his home. A very proud man and this carries through to his food and service. €45 for two, gets you big portion of olives, home made bread, buratta cheese which was very fresh, parmigiana, white wine, bruschette with tomato and garlic and a big plate of orichette with a very intense tomato base with meat and topped with Parmesan cheese, to finish watermelon and limoncello. Everything was fresh and tasty. Free refill of the the wine was very welcome. Carlos is a kind and proud man and his business deserves recognition and support. Money very well spent. Highly recommended.

Come here for a one of a kind culinary experience in Bari! The owner and chef, Carletto, is a unique character and runs his restaurant with much fun and joy. The restaurant comprises of 4 little square tables right outside his house door in the small side alley in the old town of Bari. At first, the restaurant seemed closed. When we asked a cute elderly woman sitting nearby on a stool whether it was open, she gave a quick shout of “Carletto”. A friendly looking man sitting on one of the four plain tables in the street quickly jumped up to warmly greet us and explain the meal he could offer us. Carletto offers a fixed menu comprising of a mix of starters, a main and a dessert, including wine and water for 20€. We were served a large variety of starters ranging from burrata to vegetable condiments to homemade zucchini parmigiana. The main was a hearty dish freshly made orecchiette in a tomato based sugo with pancetta, salsiccia and lots of cheese. The dessert was the only real disappointment, as we were given store bought cookies. But one does not really come here for the food but rather for the lovely experience. The wine was a rather sweet primitivo which Carletto proudly told us that he makes himself. We had a lovely evening enjoying a abundant home cooked meal in this little alley in Bari and being entertained by Carletto. Wholeheartedly recommend giving Carletto a visit!

What a lovely place! Without saying a word our host guided us through multiple plates of olives, artichokes, veg, orecchiette and sweets. It was a really lovely experience for €20/person. Thanks so much!

Carletto open his home's kitchen for a select few patrons. I was lucky enough to find a table and it was an amazing experience. So much food and wine was given for lunch for 20 euros and I was so full I didn't need dinner. Go try it!!

So authentic— real Bari experience! Neighbours around you doing daily chores and chit chat. The food is AMAZING and right out of Carlo’s kitchen. He’s a one man army doing all the cooking and serving live. He leaves your heart and bellies so full! There is no space left in me! The red wine is local and lemoncillo as well— so so good! Cannot recommend this enough. MUST VISIT!

🤌🏻 Proper Pugliese Cucina Carletto offers local food with a set menu - 45€ per 2pp. 🍽️ It includes: antipasto misto, local pasta of your choice, dolci and wine. He speaks small English and he gives a straight forward service - after sitting on the chair you have already 4 food plates on the table ready waiting for you to be eaten🤣 🍆 La melanzana a la parmigiana and orecchiette al pomodoro were just delicious. Grazie mille Carletto!!!!

Best local experience. Just sit down and enjoy the food. No menus but the food was fresh, local and tasty. It’s a one man band cooking up the magic in a little room while Lazio is playing a match on a 90’s tv set. There’s no words spoken and none are needed. A simple handshake at the end of the meal expressing mutual appreciation of a unique italian experience. A small secluded street offers an enjoyable and pleasantly calm atmosphere with just enough privacy to feel relaxed. Eventhough the originality and genuine italian old school service prevail, you can still pay by card, but be sure to leave a tip as the heart this man puts in his work while wearing a polo with a popped up collar is what brings you as close as you’ll ever be to becoming an italian for an hour or two. Can’t praise this place enough.

Wow!!! We had a great time and such great value. Really friendly service, three course meal at the choice of the chef - fresh ingredients and spectacular experience. Don't miss it if you can - they only have 4 tables!

Home made pasta and delicious food. Very hospitality and kind. It should be on your visit list in Bari. Something completly different than normal restaurant. There is no menu, you get "surprise" and it's the best

I love love this place and visit every time I go to Bari. There isn’t really a menu but just sit down and trust that Carletto will feed you well. Beautiful fresh food, local wine, kind host and amazing little ally way in the old town. A must try in Bari

carletto’s kitchen it’s a gem! we ate a very simple and local meal and it was delicious! it is a set menu so you can’t chose but for 45€ total (it serves 2 people) we’ve got: -appetisers (focaccia and panzerotti, olives and mozzarella, parmigiana) -pasta (we chose orecchiette with pomodoro sauce but you could have them with meat or spaghetti) - half litre of red wine - water - limoncello carretto is a character and cooks everything in his own house! will recommend :)

Quiet and away from the crowds. Rustic and more flavorful then most of our meals in Venice. Not to mention a full bottle of local wine which was quite satisfying. The fresh strawberries in liquor was a delightful finish. We wouldn’t hesitate to return if we come to Bari again.

This place is like nothing else! You live the experience of eating Italian food. There is no menu, but everything starts with appetizers, then main dish and a small dolcetto. It is located in a quiet street, far from touristic routes. It was really warm, sweet unexpected experience and I definitely recommend visiting!

Outstanding place!!! We had the most amazing, very authentic experience. I highly recommend the place if you want to relax and just let someone take care of you in the Italian style. Thank you for having us!!! Ps: the wine is terrific!

This is a bit different experience. You are invited in Carletto's tiny flat with his private kitchen, you can see the food preparation, all very local. Thevtaste of our lunch wasn't quite special, plastic plates for starters :-( I give 2 stars for food, 4 stars for the experience.

Carletto Cucina will always hold a special place in our hearts! While strolling through the alleys of Bari Vecchia we stumbled upon Carlettos little restaurant and were welcomed with open arms. Carletto is kind, warm and the perfect host! The perfect place if you can’t decide what to order, since Carletto starts serving the minute you sit down. A bunch of different appetizers (burrata, tomatoes, bread, olives, tuna, parmigiana) were followed by orecchiette (vegetarian or with meat), two desserts and limoncello. Wine and water were served continuously. Definitely a unique lunch experience, down to earth italian food, great atmosphere! Grazie mille, Carletto!

It’s hard to put into words. Carletto is warm, welcoming and is like if you’ve known him your whole life. The food is authentic, nothing extravagant, “just” good. You can taste it’s served with love. Would recommend for anyone who isn’t afraid of something out of their comfort zone and very “different”. Jus come, see and taste the warm welcome of Southern Italy.

Thought I’d leave a review since not many here in Google. This place is delightful. A couple has set up 4 tables in the alley outside of their kitchen. Antipasti was fantastic and best orecchiette I’ve had this whole trip. Do not miss the limoncello!

Like a visit in family member. Carl invited us inside and gives us fresh and tasty meal. Simple, but essential, after our long flight. Starter: wine, olives (big and delicious), artichoke with dried tomatoes and 'suprise', which was fried eggs with cheese, little tomatoes and onion. Main dish was traditional orecciette with meat balls in tomato sous. Cost was 20 € per person.

👍👍 Italian cuisine is amazing, and of course La Cantina dello Zio is not an exception. The food is delicious, I have no words to describe it. An amazing experience from all points of view.
