First time visitor. Left from VEGAS going south on I-15 with another 1.5 hours left to drive Black Bear was on the list of places to stop one day. BUSY but worth the wait. Large tasty plated food with above average prices. Good for the whole family with fast service. Good ole country food and a few healthy choices (I had the healthy). ***Need auto gas.. lots of stations at/near this place.

This black bear is attached to the TA in Barstow CA. Have eaten here twice and on both times I can say I enjoyed the food. I love the corn bread muffins with the soup. The salads are very big. Overall not a bad place to sit down at

We’ve been to this location MANY times over the years and this was by far THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. Our waitress Shamis if you call her that SUCKED. NOT 1 Time did she come and see if we NEEDED anything!!! Candie had helped us with extras I needed and it was nice to see Cesar again. Both CESAR & CANDIE ARE SO AWESOME . NEEDLESS TO SAY SHAMIS NO TIP Just was in a week or so ago and gave CESAR GREAT REVIEWS

The prices are above average, however the portions are large. The food order was cooked exactly as requested. The coffee was good. The Service was good... but there's room for improvement. Would go back.

This is the best food and service in trucker travel history from breakfast to bedtime eats. The salads are just what we need out here on this road but you gotta have the chocolate cake too. Bree was awesome!

Well it was my first time trying this place and now I can't want to go back. The food was great and the customer service was just as good. They lady that was taking my order was amazing. Recommend the ribs or the fish. But every thing is good.. if you passing through and you want some good food 😋 stop by and give it a try. Just be prepared to spend around 20 to 40 per person depending on what you get.

Stopped on the way from San Diego to Las Vegas. Food was good and everyone in our four person party enjoyed our meal. We ordered breakfast and dinner menu items. The cinnamon French toast was really delicious and flavorful. The restaurant was cold where we were seated in a booth, but the waitress noticed how chilly it was and had the temperature adjusted without even asking her to change it. Our wait time to be seated was reasonable and we got a to-go coconut cream pie for later. it looked so yummy. We couldn’t pass it up.

Always a vibe at Black Bear! Plenty of truck parking. I Love the real FRESH SQUEEZED ORANGE JUICE. I was there on Friday but too early for the Prime Rib so I got steak and eggs and it was DELECTABLE!!! I don't eat French Toast, but miscommunication between me and the waitress caused it to be my bread of choice, i decided to try it and it was GOOOOD! Also met a few fellow truckers at the “bar” and struck up some good conversations

Everything was delicious and they served big servings. I was told it’s because I ordered the small servings. Our server was friendly and attentive. We would definitely stop by again next time we are in town.

Update: I am dropping my review from two stars to one. After expressing my disdain for this restaurant, someone reached out and advised they hope I return so they can provide a better experience. I advised I was not interested in doing so because it was moot at that point. I would have much rather had the person say they understood and would do better, not invite me to spend more money on yet another poor experience. 😒 The food was okay. This is not a place I would return to. After having to ask to be moved to a bigger booth, getting our orders mixed up, having to remind the waitress of things she was supposed to have written down, and the hard sandwich... it's a solid never again for me.

Maybe appetizing to someone not me. Plus the warning about fried foods cooked in chemicals that cause cancer on the door.... So I guess its good they looked so inedible. Update the steak was good but be aware most likely pan fried in the same carcinogenic oil. Thanks gov. consumer protection sold out agencies.

Love the atmosphere at Black Bear Diners! My bobs big bear burger was huge, hot, fresh and delicious. My wife’s pot roast dinner was hot, fresh, tender and delicious as well. Huge shout out to Nick for the great friendly service. It’s hard to come by and greatly appreciated these days. Will definitely be back!

Family of 5 visiting from Ireland. On drive from Las Vegas to San Diego. Never heard of Black Bear Diner but found you on google search, so glad we did! Very enjoyable experience. Good food and great service from our lovely server Diane.

Loved the food & deserts. Great staff, super clean, great service. The ribs & chocolate cake were my favorite. Me & mom will be going again.

4th of July special for Veterans, but even if I had paid full price, this was by far one of the most PEFECTLY cooked meals EVER at a TA or PETRO in over 30 years of driving commercially. SUPER NICE JOB!! And thank you for being sufficiently staffed. Service was fantastic, everyone in good mood, pleasant, but quick. Very EFFICIENT!!!

My wife and I stopped by on our way to Vegas. We went in for breakfeasts and were served by Gloria she did a fantastic job and served our food hot! We will be back !!

All-around best restaurant we've been to so far in the Barstow area. Family friendly. Loved the atmosphere and the menus. All of the employees were very kind. Service was quick! Food was delicious and plenty of it for the price. My husband had the Western BBQ Burger which he said was the best he has ever had. He's military and has had burgers all over the country, so that's saying something! I had the Turkey Club meal and an extra side order of broccoli to share with my baby. The sweet potato steak fries were amazing. My 3 year old's favorite part was the brownie sundae. We will be back and definitely recommend!!

Very good! I would have given this place 5 stars, but the service wasn't good at all. Their waffles are the fluffiest and the bacon was extra thick. Once we got our plates, we didn't see our waitress again. We never got any refills and had to go up front to get our receipt. Place needs more help, but worth checking out.

I can't get enough of this place! The food is amazing! The portions are huge but for what you pay it's a steal! And the service is always excellent!

Had the sweet cream pancakes w strawberries and hubby had the Denver omelette. Really really good. Biscuit was awesome and so was the link sausage. Staff was super friendly and attentive.

I was first introduced to Black Bear Diner last month in the northern oart of CA, so we stopped today to try this location near the TA. We were greeted with a smile by the lovely ladies at the front. We waited for a few minutes, which gave us enough time to look around their merchandise. I was wanting to order a certain item, but was told it wouldn't be available for about 20 more minutes due to it being a dinner item. I learn something new every day. If there is a clock icon by the item, it is only available at a certain time. We ordered the crunchy fried steak that the waitress suggested on the breakfast menu and the Grizzly big breakfast. Both were good portions, tasted good, amd were filling. Our waitress was attentive. Would definitely recommend!
