Sadly, quality of service, food and communication not what it used to be. Portions are still very generous for sure. Although the service this year was better than the year before, this still included omitting relevant information at due times and long waiting time. Most recent example: we were planning on cashing in a 2-for-1 coupon as part of their points-system and inquired on the possibility of this accordingly before sitting down. Instead of letting us know that they’ve been experiencing technical issues all though with scanning/accepting the coupons (… all day… and we were there in the evening…) they told us to wait until they could scan in our coupons before we order. After 20 minutes of nothing, they let us know we can start ordering. So we put in our order for food and drinks, with the coupon in mind. Personally, i had to wait another 30min to get my drink after my friend, shortly after which the food arrived. So we’re actually already 1h in before we can eat… After all this is done and we ask to pay, that’s when they let us know about all the technical issues they were dealing with that day, and how it couldn’t be fixed anymore either. So no cashing in of the coupon. Instead, we’re comforted off with the comment “you can cash it in on your next visit” Really would have liked to have the option to actively choose for myself if we should stay or not beforehand. We very likely would have either way, but I’d definitely feel better about making a decision AFTER knowing all the relevant facts. *Pictures not only from last visit*

Amazing ambient, but very expensive food, you might get better and cheaper food on the McDonald's just in front of it, the ambient is nice though. Fries were actually good but the burgers were not out of the ordinary, same goes with the ribs. Considering what they cost were not remotely worth it... Also after checking two times with the waiter that I've ordered two small cokes (2,5dl), he said yes, on the bill there were two 5,0dl almost double the price... Never again, too much expensive and bad service... Seriously, just go to the McDonald's in front...

Amazing place, which we discovered accidentally! Even better is that it was a day with an offer of one free cheeseburger when ordering two! 😍 The staff is really friendly and explained us that to redeem an offer, we have to download the app and activate there a coupon. The burgers were juicy, and Pommes was really well-cooked too! We were really happy with our visit, and I can only recommend this place - even if you are not a fan of burgers, the menu is quite extensive and the visit is worth it also based on the design and authenticity this place offers. You really can feel it that it has its own history :) P. S. The place is quite pricy, so please take that into account, especially if you are not as lucky with offers as we were.

It's a pretty trendy place with LOTS of tasty/mouth-watering options. Definitely not the most affordable hamburger place in Basel, but the options are hands down juicy and delish. I love a well-prepared homemade burger and their cheeseburger reminded me of that for some reason. They have a good range of cocktails and food to share as well. Oh, loved the décor lastly.

We like this place a lot. Food is usually very tasty and portion are good. The service was ok -it could be better if the waitresses would give people 2min before asking the drinks. We could reserve without a problem on a weekday and we can have a special decorations on the table when you tell them it is your birthday:) The drinks are very good and price is around Sfr12, - Sfr14,. Today the ribs were not good, unfortunately. Almost no meat, mostly bones :/ Well located, many public transportation around, decorations inside are really creative, bathroom was clean. Overall, one of the best tex-mex in Basel - for sure the most well known.

Cocktail prices too high, little alcohol, lots of fruit juice. Prices in general too high compared to the average of other restaurants, the barbecue ribs are very good, price ok, for the "starters" the prices are too high, onion rings good but 14 chf for 5 rings seems excessive to me. Very chaotic and noisy environment. The menu is still the same since last year, they haven't changed anything, the sweet potatoes are good, if you go for ribs I recommend it, little choice for vegetarians, only one beer, poor choice, they should expand the selection of beers and of cocktails.

Pretty interesting restaurant, the way it’s decorated, the menu and music. I would have to say that they put a lot of effort into creating the Mexican/American atmosphere, not sure of they managed successfully. I would have expected more Mexican dishes considering the interior, they have a rich menu, but it’s mainly based on burgers, ribs and chicken wings. We went for the burger and the bbq ribs. The best thing about the burger were the pickles but overall was okay. The fries not so soft on the inside but we’re crispy on the outside. To be honest I would have expected a bit more of a kick in our dishes and maybe more flavor for the price we paid. The staff was welcoming and friendly throughout the evening.

Drinks as usual fine, including alcohol free drink for my grand child. Unfortunately the menu "surf and turf" was very disappointing, meat dry cooked and with three shrimps. Initially (many years ago) this menu was the runner. Sorry new chef 👨‍🍳 cannot be recommended 😢

Best service in Basel! Our waitress was really kind and friendly, she made our day. We also received a free dessert.

The location is very central and lively. Nice ambience and decorations inside and the terrace is lovely! The food was good; I do not recommend the nachos though. The salad was fresh, crunchy and very tasty and the fries as well. The staff are polite and professional. You get a free lollipop with the bill to forget that prices are exaggerated ;)

Went twice in three days, on a wednesday evening first and on the friday night second. On Wednesday there were less guests so the service was faster and had more time per table which was nice, the food looked yummy and it actually was very delicious. We had a good time. On friday night it was, like often times on weekends, full house. Service had little time per table, foods still was delicious but we had one little issue with a corn roll. It was served cold and we asked for a "reheating" which was done properly but it took almost ten minutes. Apart from that "incident" as on wednesday the whole experience was nice. Prices are on the higher end, but its fine unless you go there on a weekly basis.

Pretty nice place to go to for a bite, however the burgers weren’t the best we’ve had. The atmosphere is nice and cozy and the waiter was very nice and chatty.

39 francs gets you this small delicious steak, with fries worth counting. The price does not match the meal 👎

Will add pictures the next time I visit. I've been to this place for at least 10 times now, every time it's always fine. The food is always nice and will always be able to stuff up your bell well. The downside would be the busy-ness of it as well as the pricing. Would've rated it 3.5 if it was an option, but I'm rounding it up because despite always being busy the staff manages the waiting queue quite well as well as their service when you are at your table. They also always have the little Birthday cake for you so that adds a nice touch to it.

The restaurant exist over 20 years so you can feel the history of the place in the photos and decorations and it gives great family restaurant vibe atmosphere. . We came with a 2 years old and got a baby chair . Service was ok... Our waiter didn't speak any English and couldn't explain us things but he was nice . The food was ok-.. I ordered a steak which was ok but not great. Very salty and thin . Overall the food is ok but not great which is a shame since the location and atmosphere are amazing.

If you order a limited edition dish or special dish it's going to be delicious but all other dishes are always just pre heated or warmed up and very watery. Nevertheless the Restaurant itself has a very cool theme and feeling to it.

Not really happy yesterday. We reserved in advance a special place for the birthday celebration. We arrived on time but, someone else got the reserved place. We had to wait for another table to setup. Our mood got spoilt. Can not trust the reservation system here. Never again.

Ambiance is good, delicious food. Not too crowded on Monday the 26th. Only one star goes down because of our waitress. Don't remember her name, but she said she is from Greece. We were still on our after dinner drinks and were not planning to leave, when the waitress asked us to pay our bill. We found it quiet rude and not very polite to bee pushed to leave. But in total we recommend this place.

Really nice place to chat and drink delicious cocktails! That make big and tasty cocktails for just 10 Swiss francs!

The decoration is very nice and different to other restaurants. We were quickly seated and brought our drinks. The wait for our food wasn’t too long either. The food was good but there was definitely room for improvement!

Great atmosphere and the food was good. I ate a hamburger and it was on point. The decoration was really cool. The music was pleasing And the service was very attentive and willing to help. Overall I was really happy with the restaurant. 😌

I have been to 'Papa Joe's' in Basel for the very first time, following Jenna's suggestions, a girl who lives in Riehen. She is not a girl you should trust usually, but I decided to give her a chance. I enjoyed a dinner with friends on the balcony outside, being lucky enough that the weather was still good enough to let us enjoy it. We ordered the Spare ribs, recommended by Jenna, and I have to say we really did the right thing following her indication. There are plenty of vegetarian options as well, leaving you a vast menu to explore. If all restaurants suggested by Jenna are like this, I will ask her more often.

Quality price is not worth it. The steak we ordered was tasteless and the quality of the meat improbable. I am still wondering where to find the taste of the fajitas. The watered coke and beer we had didn't improve it either. At least the corn was nice same as the location and the outer terrace.
