It has been a dream of mine to walk in the footsteps of my great idol and muse. Excellently set up and exhibited. Plenty of interesting information, in English. Thankyou thank you thank you.

(Translated by Google) The rudeness at the cash register seems legendary. “Hello” doesn't exist there. But why change something, because 'mia think mia and if you don't like it, you can go on.' No original here, nothing! Copies only. Perhaps, one can assume, we don't like the artist here. The Dürer exhibitions in the small Thuringian town of Apolda (several hundred prints) or in Prussian Berlin are well worth seeing. What, except the walls are interesting here? Oh nice! The hobby carver's wooden panels and imitations of the master that can be bought. DÜRER for 5 €. Every local museum has a higher level! To see the house from the outside would have been enough. Oh, schon! Die Holzplatten der Hobbyschnitzerin und Imitate des Meisters, die man kaufen kann. DÜRER für 5 €. Da hat jedes Heimatmuseum mehr Niveau! Das Häusl von außen zu sehen hätte gereicht.

Such an immersive experience back through time, honoring not just the artist and the time period he represents, but which also examines how he has affected subsequent generations and art forms. Our children got a great crash course on the "first graphic artist," and we adults enjoyed learning details we hadn't known before, making this an ideal stop for beginners and art buffs alike. Entry fees are very reasonable--even students and backpackers can afford this--and the gift shop across the street offers easily transportable memories to take home. Kids get a little "voucher" to claim a "gift" at the end of the self led tour, a postcard at the gift shop. The audio tour is included in the entry cost and is easy to operate. Photos are allowed everywhere except the top floor where they have original Dürer prints on display. Small children will not enjoy this. Recommend 12 and up.

One of the interesting museums to visit in Nuremburg is the Albrecht Dürer's House on Albrecht-Dürer-Straße in the St. Sebald district. This is a good place to learn about Nuremburg's most famous artist and to walk through a well-preserved early 15th-century house and artist workshop. Note: Opening hours are 10am to 5 or 6pm daily (Tues to Sun). There are extended hours to 8pm on Thursdays but the museum is normally closed on Mondays. Entry fee is €6 per adult and comes with audio guide. There is toilet facility and free use lockers available on the ground floor just past the ticketing counter. The property itself is believed to have been built around 1420. It came into Dürer's possession in 1509. He lived and worked here until 1528. The property passed on to other owners in later centuries until it was used to create a Dürer museum in 1871. Having escaped WWII bombings, Albrecht Dürer's House's remains the same today as it did when he lived here five hundred years ago. What you will find within the Albrecht Dürer's House are a handful of rooms. In the Dürer Room, you will see important copies of Dürer's masterpieces which hang in the galleries of many of the world's most important art museums. Many of these works would have been created here in this house. You'll also be able to view living quarters with period furnishing, painting and printing workshops with equipment, props and items that would have been known to Dürer. The audio guide explains what you will see quite well. It provides historic perspective and context which is helpful. Overall, we enjoyed the hour and fifteen minutes spent at the Albrecht Dürer's House. If you are a fan of the artist, there is a monument dedicated to the artist no more than 3-4 minutes on Bergstrasse. Further, an abstract sculpture and interpretation of Dürer's 'Young Hare' can be viewed 20-25 metres away in the small square in front of the museum.

Probably one of my favorite museums I've visited. If you're a fan of Dürer this is a must visit. It's just a shame that there wasn't alot of his original works. The staff was very friendly and the audiotour was informative. It's nice that they did have some copy's of his work so that you do get an idea of the masterpieces he created. The building itself is very fascinating as well.

Quite pricey for what it has to offer as a "museum", holds no originals and the rooms are heavily modified. It is indeed one of the few houses that survived the war but still don't think this looked like this in Durer's time... Half an hour including the audio guide is about all the time you need here, honestly I wouldn't put this on top of my list in the city, plenty of other places have much more to offer

  • 5/5 Valentyn M. 4 years ago on Google
Don't expect to see much of Durer's work in this museum, as most of it was sold and left the city already during artist's life. But it does convey the atmosphere of the time well. Do take the time to walk the streets around the museum, the mix of old and new is simply enchanting.

(Translated by Google) A medieval tenement house from 1419, the ground floor of which was built of sandstone, and the floors were half-timbered, purchased in 1509 by A. Dürer, who was at the height of his fame. For almost twenty years Master Albrecht lived and worked here together with his unloved, down-to-earth and ugly wife Agnieszka, servants, students and journeymen. Surprisingly, the house survived all the turmoil and several hundred years after the master's death, the city council of Nuremberg bought the property in order to make it a memorial room, and later a Dürer museum. In the 19th century, attempts were made to reconstruct several rooms, giving them an early Renaissance appearance. The kitchen was recreated, Agnieszka's kingdom. Two living rooms, upstairs, the artist's and his students' studio. In one of these rooms there is a reconstructed printing press, which sometimes still has graphics. Then, in the post-war publishing house, the "Dürer" room with reproductions of the master's paintings from old eras, unfortunately of varying quality, was added, as well as a graphics studio, closed since October. The entire exhibition was supplemented with decent multimedia presenting the master's achievements and the epoch in which he lived. The tour lasts about 1.5 hours and leaves a lot of dissatisfaction, indeed, even a profession, because this particular artist and art theorist probably deserves a better commemoration, by the rich city of Nuremberg !!! (Original) Średniowieczna kamienica z 1419r, której parter zbudowano z piaskowca, piętra zaś z muru pruskiego, zakupiona w 1509r przez, będącego u szczytu sławy A.Dürera. Dalej, w powojennej oficynie, dodano salę "dürerowską" z reprodukcjami obrazów mistrza z dawnych epok, różnej niestety jakości i gabinet grafik, nieczynny od października. Całość ekspozycji uzupełniono przyzwoitymi multimediami prezentującymi dorobek mistrza i epokę, w której przyszło mu żyć. Zwiedzanie trwa ok. 1,5 godziny i zostawia spory niedosyt, ba, nawet zawód, bo ten akurat artysta i teoretyk sztuki zasługuje chyba na lepsze upamiętnienie, przez bogatą przecież gminę miejską Norymbergi!!!

This is really an amazing exhibit museum. I didn’t know who Albrecht Durer is before the visit. The museum had great English audio guide that lead you through this amazing artist, who lived in the same time as Leonardo DaVinci, but created artwork that are even mysterious in our time.

I don't recommend this museum at all!!! When we came inside the first thing that dissapointed us was the extremely rude front desk lady. She refused to sell us student tickets eventhough we showed her our student ID. She said we should have tell her sooner, but it was the first thing we said. We didn't want to argue with her, because she was already very unpolite so we paid 12 euros instead of 3 euros, so we hoped it will be worth it.......NOT WORTH IT AT ALL!!! No atmosphere, no original painting, mess on the shelves. Overall very poor exposition. It is better to look at the house from the outside (for free) and go to another museum (with original paintings) TOURIST TRAP!

The house was the only building which was not destroyed during the Hitler's reign. Hence, it became a source of information on how normal life looked like, what did the neighborhood looked like and how the houses looked like. The house also has the life history of the painter Duerer along with his paintings and the work he did before becoming a painter.

I have really enjoyed Dürer's house. I think that the exhibition is really well organized and it tells a wonderful story. However, it does make me a bit sad that almost all the artwork are copies of Dürer's work, whereas his actual work is located mostly in the Alte Pinakothek in Munich. Nevertheless, it was really cool to see his house and walk through his workshop.

A must for the history or art lover in Nürnberg. Anyone who has spent time inan aet museum will recognize Albrecht Dürer. The fact that Nürnberg has managed to preserve the Dürer family house is amazing. The museum itself appears to be more geared to history in the period during his life rather than the art.

The house of the great artist Durer, survived the bombings, and can still be seen today. Albrecht Durer was perhaps the most accomplished of the Northern Renaissance artists and spent the latter years of his life working in Nuremberg, in a house near the shadow of the castle. The house was preserved over the years and has been opened to the public. Very little furnishing from his time remains, but the structure itself is wonderful, and the museum there is small but worth visiting.

A must see place if you visit Nuremberg. They have done a wonderful job here and show his studio where he worked as well as showed many of the processes he used to produce the work that he made. It was quite an education adventure and I really enjoyed seeing the curated items around the house with a wonderful audio guide to listen to it. I wish we had more time but our trip was short and I could definitely come back and visit this place again.

Good experience! Albrecht Dürer's work is impressive. There is some of his original work on the top floor of the house which is fantastic. The house was somewhat interesting, however, other than the kitchen, it is unknown what use each room actually had back when Dürer lived there. So, rooms are just staged as they may have been.

(Translated by Google) The building in which the house-museum of Albrecht Durer is located was built in 1420. In 1509, Dürer purchased this building. Together with the artist and his wife Agnes, numerous students, apprentices, and servants moved into this house. Durer lived here until his death in 1528 for a total of only twenty years. Many famous prints and paintings of the artist were created in this house. The first two floors of the four-storey building of the Dürer house are made of bricks, and the upper two are made in the half-timbered style - these are diagonal beams of coniferous wood. The Albrecht Durer House Museum has very modern and convenient audio guided tours recorded in many languages, including Russian. An interesting story, conducted on behalf of Durer's wife, Frau Agnes. On the second floor of the Dürer House-Museum there is a cinema, which shows an interesting film about Dürer's life (the sound language can be selected on a portable device). We liked the excursion, I recommend it to visit.

The paintings on display are well-known copies of the originals in various European museums, which can also be viewed on the Internet. No knowledge gain for me. (Original) Sehr knapp für 6€ Eintritt. The Levi's muzeum is great. It's short and you get to know everything you need to. There's an awesome audio guide in all sorts of languages and the English one has an American western accent which is also cool. If you have a spare hour nearby it's a great opportunity to have a great time and also learn something new about Levi's company and jeans on general.

Great Museum with interesting facts about the famous inventor of the Jeans. For students and the elderly there is a reduced entry of 3€ which was my price category. The museum itself was informative and captivating, it didn't have lots of interactive opportunities for the visitors but no sweat there. They presented jeans and Props of the different chapters. I do recommend going here. All the best!

Digital guide available in at least german and english language. Entrance (May 2018 - 4€ pp). There is not that much to see but the digital guide explains the full story of Löb Strauß aka Levis Strauss. The extended area of the museum accessible from the roof explains a little bit about the jewish community in Buttenheim before the ww2. There is a quite big shop next to the entrance. Staff was nice and helpful. They offer also headsets for left ear if you have troubles on your right one ;-)

(Translated by Google) What a nice idea: Levi Strauss emigrated from the small village of Buttenheim in Franconia to the USA in 1853, founded a company for cloth and haberdashery in San Francisco, which then produced the first jeans. The small, beautiful half-timbered house is still standing and it will become a small museum, which reminds of the fact that the inventor of jeans was a Franconian. The visitor is guided through this lovingly designed exhibition by audio guide. Of course you should be photographed at the end with Levi, whose figure is standing in front of the house. He doesn't wear jeans, but of course I was dressed to match with the trousers, which are probably the most popular items of clothing in the world today. Another idea: A Franconian is said to have invented the Vienna sausage.

The place where the famous painter and engraver used to live.Very nice rehabilitated.Unfortunately, there's only one room in the house that we know for sure what it was in that times:the kitchen. All the other rooms are arranged based on assumptions:"here probably was the workshop, there probably was the bedroom" and so on.Yet the house is very interesting helping you to make an idea about how people of that times lived. No original paintings of the artist(you can see some in Germanisches National museum)

Museum is quite limited with the history of the place, very little still is original from Dürer's time which leads to a lot of "this may have...it's likely that..." around the museum. There are some cool artifacts but for the most part, the bulk of the museum are just informational plaques

Most unfriendly and rude staff ever.... We've been yelled on by the front desk lady (through the speakers of the house) because our 13 Month old Baby was crawling on the floor (and was laughing...) . After explanation (and complain, and fight... ), the problem was not that is was dangerous for the copies there, it was that "she was having fun"... Furthermore, the exhibition is, honestly, just OK... Enjoy the city center instead.

Not nearly as interesting as expected. No original art works of the great master. The house itself is ok, but doesn’t transmit the spirit of the era in-spite of audio guide and many explicative texts.

Amazing historic house where the famous Albrecht Dürer lived. While the house was kept in original shape, the furnishings were changed much later on, once it was decided the house will serve as a museum. It's a must see for any art fan.

If you take a visit in Nuremberg this house is the reason: there aren't original paintings of the Master but reproductions. The audio guide (in Italian too) explain you a lot of interesting things like the reason why his own self-portrait Is the most famous and interrogative in the world. 30 mins time of visit and it's next to the castle.

  • 4/5 Hyun-Sung S. 5 months ago on Google
Very interesting to learn the history of the house from medieval and to see how Dürer lived there: kitchen, heater, dining room etc. Replica of some of his paintings are displayed as well as his prints, printer, objects and ingredients for colors. You can also get a print free if you want. They also use modern technology well to explain some of his works.
