It is a museum full of Greek and roman sculptures and divided in halls for worshiping, arts, war and hunting. each sculpture has a number with audio in English/German to know more about it. if you want just to see the halls and take some photos would take only 45 min to explore. recommended to go on Sunday as the entry fee is 1 euro.

Nice Collection of antique statutes. Someone wrote in a review that they don't accept credit cards. That was not true for today. Payed with card without problems. The Collection itself is not too big. But if you like art/skulptures worth a visit

This museum is very visitor friendly. Groups could meet and paint there. There are portable information boards at every salon available for those who prefer text to audio. It was not as comprehensive as I expected but definitely worth visiting. The café inside the building attracts lots of visitors.

Wunderschönes Museum in München. Bravo Monacho/Μόναχο

Glyptothek museum is one of a kind. It is the only museum dedicated to ancient sculpture. Amazing collection

Überschaubares und schönes Skulpturenmuseum mit Werken aus der griechischen und römischen Zeit. In den einzelnen Räumen werden chronologisch die Fortschritte in der Fertigung schön aufgezeigt.

Wonderful museum which hosts the masterpieces of the temple of Aphaea in the greek island of Aegina. Relaxed atmosphere, plenty of places to sit, quite often you ll find art students drawing. Must visit in Munich

After ~3 years been closed for renovations the Glypthotek has finally reopened for the public. Really beautiful place with a great constellation allowing you to walk amongst statues. Some newer than the others but overall a great experience

A good museum to go back to in the era of Roman and Greek architecture . Visit on Sundays as the ticket is only for 1 euro, the cheapest you can ever get.

One of the best museums displaying artifacts from the age of antiquity. The guided tours are fantastic and the selection of the items is simply brilliant. A definite must see on a trip to Munich.

Not too big but nice museum with Greek and Roman sculptures. They offer plenty of explanation in every room. It isn’t expensive at all and they do offer students discount.

Well, if you have an hour to spend looking at some very decent, partial-sculptures, then this is the place for you. If you're looking for famous works, you're unlikely to find it. There are a few very interesting displays, especially the models of the temple of a specific Greek goddess, the name of which escapes me.

A very great place to be. Much better than Berlin. It is nice to relax and to think about all the poor people who have to live in Berlin. Glyptothek is really a building that makes me thankful for being in Munich and not in Berlin.

Truly a classical museum with world reputation - and well deserved. Alone the beautiful building is worth a visit. Together with the fine sculptures, mostly high quality copies of Greek originals, they create a unique space with a magic ambience. It is one of my favourite places when in Munich. Practical: in the basement free of charge lockers keep your luggage. Chilly: Wear something while strolling through the halls, it is fresh. One comment only: I would like to encourage the museum guys to think about an improved museum shop.

Before I came here I was hoping to see Roman and Greek history artifacts but at the front I read "skulpturen" so I was little bummed and maybe hoping it will be other stuff too but it's only sculptures. I think 6€ is too expensive because it's not so big museum but on Sunday was only 1€ so I was ok with the price.

A unique experience for any lover of art and ancient classical culture! The Glyptothek is nothing less than the oldest museum in the city of Munich. Its content is also exceptional: it is dedicated solely to ancient sculpture, from the archaic Greek style to the great Roman sculptures, passing through imperial busts and the sculptures of the two pediments of the temple of Afaya in Aegina (although there is also a magnificent mosaic found in a Roman villa). Inside the museum, in Room VIII, the visitor finds a cafeteria and is offered the opportunity, if the weather is good, to go out onto the large terrace in the heart of the building. Finally, I would like to mention the kindness and warm welcome from the receptionists, especially Manuel.

A great place to visit if you are staying in town and want to se Greek sculptures. There is a cafe where you can also spend time in and outdoors

For me Glypthotek was even better museum than most of the mainstream museums. I was there 2 nd December 2023 during big München winter and everything was cleaned. Hands down to the personal that made that happening. One of the rare museums where i like how sculptures were organised . Plenty of space and visibility from the back too.

Very nice museum with statues which follow artistic development from Greece to Roman times and as Romans had Greek complex in art and copied everything we can thank them as without that we would not have so many Greek sculptures and art in general.

A nice collection of Roman and Greek sculptures, enriched by modern replicas. The museum doesn't accept credit cards and you can only buy your tickets using cash. The texts are mostly in both German end English.

+ Nice exhibition on Roman sculptures. + Natural light in every room because of the building architecture. That makes viewing more natural as it was originally intended back then. + Cafe in the middle of the building is pretty nice, although it needs more landscaping. - Compared to other museums in Munich, it is a small one. - I expect descriptions of artifacts near them. They put info tablets in every room to pick up and read. It was not Corona-friendly.

  • 1/5 Nick P. 5 months ago on Google
Some artifacts are only loosely put together and, as mentioned above, out of context. I have seen better exhibitions, and as others have mentioned, when visiting such places, one should critically keep in mind the colonial history that often also led to the removal of such artifacts from their place of origin. Anyhow large part of my disappointment also stems from the absolutely rude and intolerable staff. The behavior of the people here is simply the absolute low point. It is simply unnecessary to treat guests in this way.

The only antique statue museum in the world. Generous halls of whitewashed bricks and enormous windows. All antique epochs are shown here. A delightful cafe is in the courtyard.

Beautiful collection of antique art. Worth a stroll on a Sunday morning when the ticket is only 1 €. There's even a café inside. But one must be very careful with small children so they won't knock anything down.

Included in the ‘1 Euro ticket on Sundays’ program. The exhibit and architectural are both inspiring, and the textual statements next to the works are bilingual which help a lot. Lovely to visit on a sunny day since the courtyard cafe and the entrance steps are are great place to chill and laze at.

Went on museum Sunday (reduced prices) and it is a great exhibition. Well structured, informative and takes you through the evolution of Greek and Roman sculptures.

Omg it's awesome place for sculpture. Especially, the route for exhibition is very clear and no confused! And the material is so nice!

A wonderful temple where you can enjoy ancient Roman and Greek sculpture. Well displayed, well organized, in a unique setting. Even just after 2 weeks of full immersion in Rome still found in this Glyptothek alone enough to justify my trip to Munich.

A great collection of ancient statues, sculptures and more. Definitely worth a visit and even if I sometimes get the feelings that these artworks should return home it is a great way that people over here, that can't travel to all the places and museums, get the chance to experience these wonderful pieces of art and history. The price is fully worth it and it is recommended to use the audio guides to get additional information. To cut a long story short: Archeological gems very well presented. 👍🏼😊

It’s clearly not the Louvre or Vatican Museums, but it costs only 1€ on Sundays. Nice visit after your bunch at Park Café! 😉
