Such a beautiful park in the heart of Munich. You can do many outdoor activities here. Walking, cycling, sunbathing even river surfing! It is the must place to visit when you are in Munich, mostly in summertime. If you like to take pictures, you would love to spend many hours here. Recommended!

Definitely a park to visit when in Munich. The English garden is very peaceful, there are many walking trails, places to sit and have a picnic or stop at the Chinese Tower where you can purchase delicious food and drinks. Don't miss the area where the river surfing 🌊 takes place. Usually 10 or more surfers line up to get their turn. All ages, young and old! We were here at the end of September 2023. Beautiful weather and really enjoyed our stroll though the park. There are maps to help you not get lost, as the park is quite large. Many tours go to the English garden, biking tours, walking tours and we ever saw horseback riding (but not sure if that was a tour). Most of the trails we were on were paved and wide. Enjoy!

This place is just wow, scenic place with lot of places to admire the nature. You can either walk, cycle inside the park, kids will. Enjoy the vast open space to play. There is a place at entrance where people surf on the water flow. You need at least half day to roam around the Garden to enjoy it completely

Realy nice place! There is a lake and also the possibility to rent a pedal or paddle boat 20€ for half an hour There are beautiful ducks and swans hanging out among the people, literally a stunning place for a couple or family outing. Easy parking, 3€ for the first 2 hours.

Huge, close to town, and beautiful. You can swim, enjoy a crate of beer there, sunbathe, even surf. It does get very crowded on summer afternoons, so perhaps come in the morning from April-August. There’s plenty of shade by the sides and a couple of beer gardens for a bite and a drink. Police regularly has a presence in the area.

A nice green and scenic park in the Munich which is very big. It is the place to enjoy nature. It is jogger’s and walkers paradise in Munich. They have a big beer garden just adjacent to Chinese tower. That area can be really crowded on a sunny day or during weekends. Easily accessible by public transport.

My place of relaxation, whether a short walk or a barefoot hike across country, through rivers and into the bushes. A bit of jungle in the middle of the city, while the "schwabingerbach" in the summer becomes a party leisure zone, you can really let your soul dangle in the northern part and become one with nature again. For dog and horse a beautiful piece of nature. But watch out on weekends, most of the paths are like a racetrack for many careless cyclists, the understanding is not given instead you are rung or jostled. Especially the e-bikes are fast, noiseless and without understanding to our elderly people, they can not get out of the way fast enough. - I wish for more understanding from our cyclists towards people and animals.

Such a massive and beautiful green space to enjoy games, sunbathing, walking, bike riding, swimming, boat rides, and the list goes on. I was lucky to visit here on a very beautiful weather day and had such a wonderful time. I spent about six hours riding a bike, walking and just relaxing in the park. Definitely worth spending a relaxing afternoon or evening here.

What an amazing park in the middle of the city. We went when the weather was perfect - slight drizzle which made everything seem greener and smell amazing! Had a lovely time walking around and enjoying the fresh air. Wish we could've spent more time in this amazing garden.

Selbst im Winter unglaublich schön. Bei so viel Natur vergisst man glatt, mitten in der Stadt zu sein. Hier kann man entspannt einen ganzen Tag verbringen.

A wonderful park to spend time for locals and tourists alike. Beautiful during any season. Try swimming in the Eisbach river and check out the surfers at the standing wave. Enjoy some beer at the Chinese Tower in summer or mould wine in winter. The Seehaus beer garden is also lovely to visit when the sun is shining.

One of the best places in Munich to do any kind of outdoor activities. The popular English Garden has beautiful landscapes as well several facilities to do recreational activities including walking, running, playing games, cycling, surfing, having beer, gluwein and many more. It is also beautiful and charming even in winter.

Easily accessible by public transport. You should try surfing if possible. The park is large, mainly grass fields. Nothing special to see, but a nice pastime for a city vacation. You can get reasonably priced food from the cafe near the round tower.

This may have actually been my favorite place in Munich. Right in the middle of the city is a huge park. Luckily our hotel was right next to the park. I went for a run and/or walk every day in the park. There are so many trails that only was able to get to a small portion of the park, but it seemed very safe and it was so green with lots of rivers, streams, lakes and ponds. There are also Reataurants/Beer gardens spread throughout the park.

The Englischer Garden in Munich is very similar to Central Park in the United States and Stanley Park in Vancouver. It is very large, and walking or exercising here is very comfortable. I recommend that everyone who visits Munich should come and see it, especially since there don’t seem to be many places to visit in Munich.

Beautiful park which starts almost right at the city centre and goes up to suburbs. Its massive so be prepared to walk a lot. And it would not be Munich if the park did not have its own Beer Garden

The park is indeed similar with an english one. The Chinese tower is a must visit objective as it has some history behind it. Next time I would like to visit the park in summer as I heard that is crowded with people taking baths in the river, picnics, barbecues or other group activities that sounds fun.

A stunning park for a day out. I have seen it in both summer and fall and each season has its own magic to it. Perfect place for long romantic walks or a picnic (whether it be with your partner, kids or dog). At the Chinese Tower you can cool off with a beer or warm up with a Glühwein. It is one of the main tourist attractions in Münich for a reason.

I recently visited the English Garden in Munich and it was a truly cool and hipster paradise! This vibrant destination attracts a lot of young people looking to soak up the sun and enjoy outdoor activities. With vast green spaces, beautiful gardens, and even a picturesque river running through it, the English Garden offers a perfect blend of nature and urban charm. One of the highlights for me was the abundance of beer gardens where you can relax with friends, savor traditional Bavarian cuisine, and of course, indulge in a refreshing beer. The park is also bicycle-friendly, making it easy to explore its various attractions while enjoying a pleasant ride. Overall, the English Garden is a must-visit for anyone seeking a lively and rejuvenating experience in Munich.

It’s great to have 900 acres garden right in the middle of a big city. It had water body, green lawns, forest feeling, beer hall for 7000 people, peaceful pathways, river and on top of it surfing. It was amazing. Not to missed in Munich !!

A place to visit when in Munich. The English Garden is the largest city park in the world, very peaceful, has many walking paths, places to sit and have a picnic or stop at the Chinese Tower where you can buy delicious food and drinks. Don't miss the unique surfing on the river Eisbah  in the English Garden.

It's located close to the city center. Peaceful to take a walk. I visited on Saturday. I entered after visiting the Hofgarten. I love to be close to water, and there is a river where people surf, there are many ducks. I spent a while taking pictures and videos. If you continue walking along the river you will see place where one can buy food and drinks, that was nice, I needed warm drink. Next time would walk further to the other side.

One of my favorites spots in Munich. During summer is full of people and you can do many activities there. To play volleyball you need your own nett but eventually you also can ask to join others team. You can swim and do the famous and traditional jump from the bridge at Isar. I always go with my friends, but sometimes after work I go there just to relax, feel some sun and read my book.

Huge park which is well maintained with some lazy rivers running through it. Very clean. People surfing at the entrance, others swimming along. Plenty of places to rest and a huge chinese style beer garden in the centre. Great for people watching and relaxing.

The English Garden in Munich is a true gem! This park offers a delightful escape from the bustling city, with its vast green spaces, serene rivers, and charming pathways. It's the perfect place for a leisurely stroll, a picnic, or even a refreshing swim in the Eisbach river. I love how this park seamlessly blends nature and urban life. What an amazing park in such an industrial city! This park is huge so huge it’s divided into a north and south! Just walking thru in the morning was so peaceful and serene! Lots of open space and doesn’t feel overly crowded at all! Plenty of beer gardens to stop at for a drink when they’re open! Plenty of directions/signs to help you navigate to park attractions and probably not to get lost haha.

One of the greenest grassed mega public gardens I have been, with lots of activities and events going on daily. Upon a lucky sunny cool day, one can bask in it, picnic, sports, fun, beer around. Many different extrances/exits to the city points, so you can take a stroll along enroute to central. Just one small bummer that maps are not in English and u just need to figure out w google maps. Many beer gardens around to enjoy band music and performances. Best at the end of it, there is a tidal river where surfers gather to have a ride on waves.

  • 5/5 Tino S. 2 years ago on Google
One of the biggest city parks of the world. The northern part is more the wild part for quiet walks, the southern part is much more lively, where many people meet in groups for sports, or for having a good time, drinking, partying in summer. The only annoying thing is, that many gooses are there (southern part only) who leave their shot everywhere what makes it not easy to find a clean place to sit…

This is one of the most beautiful and best gardens in the country. It is recommended to visit on a clear day or evening and bask in the early morning or late afternoon sunshine. There are wonderful scenes for taking photos and really good walking paths. You can take a nice, casual stroll and observe the marvels of the garden and it’s facilities and environment. The garden also has beer gardens, so it is absolutely packed during Munich’s famous Oktoberfest, so you can go there with friends to have a few drinks and a party and enjoy the crowd and atmosphere.

One of the largest urban parks in the world, i was astonished to see how centrally it is located in Munich. Beautiful forest, which I was envious of, coming from a heavily urbanised city which has no green spaces, Athens. The English Garden (a forest actually) covers a surface of over 3 square kilometers, has lakes, streams flowing through it, plus the river Isar. Many locals enjoy the sun in the summer there and it even has dedicated paths for horse riding. Really worth the visit, both to walk and also rest.

The huge and lovely English Garden in Munich is a great place to visit, whether it's sunny or cloudy. On sunny days, you can enjoy outdoor activities like surfing with a lot of people around. But if you prefer a quieter garden experience, it's even more charming on cloudy days.

This is one of the most beautiful places in Munich. The spectacular view of river Isaar flowing through the garden makes this place ideal for people to sit & relax. Good tracks available for walking, running & cycling. People also practice surfing over here.
