From the moment I entered the grand lobby, I was captivated by the opulent and lavish decor, reminiscent of a bygone era. The room assigned to us was exceptional. It boasted ample space, cleanliness, and even featured a comfortable sofa. Despite the hotel's classic style, everything in the room was well-maintained, adding to the nostalgic ambiance. The provided table was spacious, and the sofa was a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the breathtaking view of Batu Pahat through the large window. One of the standout aspects of our stay was the quality of sleep we experienced. The hotel provided a restful haven of tranquility, ensuring a peaceful night's rest. The comfortable bedding and the quiet ambiance created an ideal sleeping environment, allowing us to wake up feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. I must commend the hotel's room service as well. Their efficiency was remarkable, delivering our orders in no more than 15 minutes. We indulged in the room service multiple times due to the excellent food quality and prompt service. However, it is worth noting that the strawberry milkshake we ordered did not meet our expectations in terms of taste. While parking in front of the hotel is limited, ample parking spaces are available behind and around the premises. A short walk may be required, but the convenience of parking nearby is worth the slight inconvenience. Additionally, the hotel offers facilities such as a swimming pool and a fitness center (gym room). Unfortunately, we did not have the opportunity to experience these amenities during our stay.

I am in general very disappointed with what’s happening in this hotel and I would not recommend anyone to come stay here unless improvements are made. My reasons: 1. I paid rm170+ for a night stay and the hotel still intend to charge rm5 for an extra bottle of mineral water. 2. There was no security in the lift. Anyone could just go up the floors. I saw a strange man harassing a lady and I made a report at the counter. 3. There were no toothbrush or toothpaste in the toilets. 4. Many of the sockets cannot be used. I am sorry. I don’t usually make such complaints. But unfortunately this has been one of the least enjoyable stay I ever had. And unless the hotel takes this seriously the bad publicity it’s going to get will not help its business. On top of that sincere guests will feel cheated. I don’t wish anyone to pay money and go through what I went through. The saving grace is the staff were polite and accommodating. I sympathize with their position. Hope something is done. Thanks.

Single handedly the worst “4-Star” hotel I’ve ever came across. Saddens me to write this but it is clear that the owner has no intention to invest in this property. The lobby has no air conditioning. The room is dated. The bathroom curtains were mouldy (yes I asked to change room after 5 minutes). The bed mattress could feel the spring. The air cond is also mouldy. The room smelled damp (at level 9). The bathroom amenities is worst than a motel. The gym is a joke with no free weights and broken machine. Pool is permanently closed with covid being the perfect excuse. We were too lazy to move but it has not been pleasant.

I don’t understand why they can’t turn on or repair the air conditioning in the lobby in a tropical country. Nothing works in the gym as well, and pool was closed. Room cleaning came at an inconvenient time, asked them to come back later when we are out, they never did. When asked front desk to send someone, they said they can only offer towels until we kicked a fuss about how we didn’t pay for a dirty room or they can move us, then they got someone up in 5 minutes. The sheer cheek and laziness to put off paying guests. And people say this is the best hotel in Batu Pahat. Perhaps 30 years ago it might be.

The Katerina Hotel is a modern and elegant hotel located in the heart of Batu Pahat, Johor. The hotel offers luxurious accommodation and a range of facilities, making it a great choice for both leisure and business travellers. However, it is important to note that some guests have expressed dissatisfaction with certain aspects of the hotel. One common complaint is that the hotel interior needs updating and furnishing. Some guests have noted that the decor and furnishings in their rooms and common areas are a bit dated and worn. Additionally, some guests have reported that the hotel lobby air conditioning is not turned on, causing it to be a bit stuffy and uncomfortable. Another issue that has been raised is the inconvenience for Muslim guests to perform prayers. The hotel does not provide a dedicated prayer room and some guests have noted that it can be difficult to find a suitable place to perform their prayers. Furthermore, some guests have noted that there are no staff available to help with baggage during check-in and checkout. This can be a bit inconvenient for guests who have a lot of luggage. Finally, a few guests have reported that the rooms are not very soundproof, which can lead to disruptions from noise outside of the room. Despite these issues, the hotel still has many positive aspects. The rooms are spacious and well-appointed with modern amenities, and the hotel offers a range of facilities, including a swimming pool, a fitness centre, and a spa. The hotel also has several dining options, including a coffee house, a bar, and a Chinese restaurant. The staff are generally friendly and professional, ensuring that guests have a pleasant and comfortable stay. Overall, The Katerina Hotel is a great choice for those looking for luxurious accommodation and excellent facilities in Batu Pahat. However, guests should be aware of the aforementioned issues before booking their stay.

Room is clean & with sufficient space. Toilet bathtub has some stain but at least is clean. The parking is around the building but is tight because they maximize the space so more guest can park. The restaurant for breakfast had mosquitos & fruit tiny flies near the Omelette area. The breakfast spread was disappointing as the variety is not only limited but the range is dull; they have ham but bland, some foods cooked from can or frozen food so there is a lingering taste and pastries was just a few slice of bland cakes hence not recommended to pay extra for breakfast. The reception is good as they are accommodating. Pool is under maintenance.

Consider these 1. The Front Office Manager FoM don't event bother to greet hotel guests. He must have been forgotten the guests are paying his paycheck. 2. When there was issue on room quality highlighted to this FoM, he just taken it lightly and don't expect that he will revert back. 3. The tub was clogged and u basically having shower while both of your feet inside the water of 15cm high, see pic attached. 4. You paid full rates for the room, however the hotel short changed you with lack of amenities and don't find any cotton buds in the room. And when u highlighted the issue to the FoM, sadly he failed as a hotelier. 5. The rate of RM348 in Batu Pahat, is too high as u would have Holiday Inn or Double Tree in JB that offers a real hotel room. I was cheated paying that rate with double standard quality offered. 6. Don't get near to the coffee house too. Plain warm water, tasted like unfiltered tap water being served. And the food quality was another over price charged. Hotel Katerina owner and so call hoteliers team, buck up or else don't over charge your guests when u are unable to provide even the basic. 7. There are 27 Trio Room available and your occupancy is only at 50% on 30th October. Why assign and sell room which was not fit for purpose? Front office, Housekeeping, Maintenance obviously Departments are not communicating and guests are to pay for double standards room quality! Disappointed and cheated stay.

This is our worst hotel experience. We arrived on the day to be informed that the aircond system would be under maintenance from 9am-6pm - the entire working day! No compensation was offered despite the last minute notice and extreme inconvenience. Concierge and sales (a Faruk) repeatedly gave us the run-around, for a full 3 hours. Anywhere else is better.

Stayed here many times throughout the pre Covid19 years, but this time round is the worst experience. My guests and I kept getting locked out by bad keycards which the staff could not solve throughout our stay. And the receptionist kept asking us to use a common phone at level 9 lift lobby which was simply not there. Will look for alternative hotels after this.

Overall ok. Room ok, fast check in process, toilet also ok, convenient parking space, staff also friendly. Hotel near to pekan batu pahat. Good food nearby. Just not satisfy with the swimming pool. Swimming pool condition not clean, can see dirts. Shower also broken. Please improve!

Decent hotel. Given that it has been there quite a long time, the hotel looks run down and needs refurbishment. Overall, still a good experience. Always welcomed by the staffs. The only issue in the room is probably the old smell and the bed looks like springy and not comfortable for tall people like me.

Checked in at 7pm went to the room and the room wasn’t made up, mattress was infested with bed bugs and toilet so dirty. Got the room changed and the new room didn’t have any blanket or duvet. Requested for one but was told that housekeeping has gone home for the day and they gave bedsheet as duvet instead. Bed felt like jelly each time you turn. The only good thing was that the air-cond was super cold and the bedside control panels were convenient.

Decent hotel considering that it is the only hotel in this town that have a swimming pool. Well, a small sized pool but still a decent one. Quality is just okay, not too shabby but not too great. You have to also factor in the fact that this hotel is quite old, but nevertheless we were happy with the cleanliness and friendliness of its staffs. We didn’t have our breakfast here since Batu Pahat have a massive choice of delicious and cheap local delicacies.

Very disappointed stay experience in an old, smelly room , dirty bed cover & worst is aircond in the lobby not repaired for months but they still demand for high rate of room stay! It didn’t worth the money I paid with the service I get. Don’t ever book this hotel! Their management not keen to improve their service !

I recently went to the hotel to meet up with a friend who was staying there. While waiting for him to come down, I decided to have coffee at the cafe. One of the waiters offered me to try one of their cheesecakes. I chose the coffee flavored one and was pleasantly surprised! It was one of the best cheesecakes I've ever tasted! I was told they make them fresh every day but it's not always available. left my number with the waiter to call me when they have it as they only sell limited pieces each day. Highly recommended!

The rooms are big enough. They just serve water, soap, shampoo, and towels. Bring your toothbrush and toothpaste. No idea why it's not being supplied, after all the charges are not so cheap. The ironing board is located in the Ironing room on each floor.

I am truly impressed with their high standard service especially the F&B staff. Mr Yusof who I believe is the leader is very professional. He made my dad's birthday lunch a truly a memorable day. The chef also was very friendly. The food is full of flavor and the birthday cake especially the cheese cake is so delicious . Thank You so much. will definitely come again.

We book a king bed but give us two single beds. If not available then don't put the option. It isn't stated subjected to availability when booking😅 Plus the room smells like cigarettes, and the hair dryer was not functioning. Nearly on fire when I tried to turn on. Overall a bad experience

The location of this hotel is right in the town but the parking space is very narrow. The room is big but it is quite run-down. The furniture in the room is old. The bath tub is very dirty. The room rate for twin-sharing with breakfast was RM241 per night. The toiletry did not include toothbrush. Overall it is not worth the value

Rooms are good. But services are very unprofessional, especially the breakfast. Supposed to start at 7am but they only start letting you in at around 7.10. After that still need to wait for them to prepare. After chasing the waiter, only get your food served around 7.30. Not only that, the food are not warm. Coffee and tea are worse. Not hot at all and no milk. When ask them for creamer, they said just sugar, no creamer. Am really disappointed with this management.

Stayed here for a 5 days training. The room was so spacious and comfortable. The view was nice too. The food has a lot of variety and taste good. Sometimes i still think of vegetable tempura i had here. And also their black coffee was soooo good. Anyway, their staffs are also very friendly and helpful, everyone from the receptionist to the chef.

Not as clean as I would hope. Gym is non existent.. lobby, is super muggy. Good customer service. Maybe it's a Malaysian thing.. but breakfast served after 7am..not before..I'm not used to that..most hotels in other countries as early as 5am

Good location and ample free parking for guests. Decent clean room and toilet. My room came with an awesome view of the city area. Bed and pillow is soft and comfy. The breakfast served is good too. It is a good hotel. Will come again from Singapore.

Touted as a 4-star hotel, The Katerina has seen better days. You can definitely feel the age of the hotel when you step into the lobby. About the location, it was quite near the city center. Since I'm driving, I have no problem reaching the places I want to visit. The distance to the food district is also within 15 to 20 minutes of a leisurely stroll. A few things about the room: The centralized air conditioning system took its time to cool the room in the hot afternoon, even after we turned the temp down to the minimum. Even then, it was not as cold as we wanted it to be. I'm surprised that no toothbrush or toothpaste was provided. Accustomed to finding these items in other accommodations, I rarely pack them in my luggage and prefer to use what the hotel provides. This is not a big deal, but still worth mentioning if you also don't pack them like me. Our bathtub drain was partially clogged, but the maintenance guy was quick to come and help out. Turns out that hair was stuck in the drain. The fix was quite fast, and that's good. Overall, the stay was acceptable.

Need extra plug points for charging. Choices of channels are limited. Increase the quantity of shower gel and soap as it comes in a tiny bottle and tiny bar. Need to provide at least a complementary breakfast/lunch/ dinner for guest staying more than 2 days. Regardless of the above points, this hotel is cool and good to stay.

The room is tidy and offers adequate living space. There is a stain in the toilet, but at least the bathtub is clean. The parking is located everywhere around the building, however because they want to accommodate as many guests as possible, the space is limited. In the area of the restaurant where the omelettes were prepared, there were both mosquitoes and fruit flies. The breakfast spread was disappointing as the selection was not only limited but also dull; they had ham but it was tasteless, other items were cooked from cans or frozen food so there was an aftertaste, and the pastries were only a few slices of tasteless cakes; as a result, it is not suggested to pay extra for breakfast. The reception is pleasant because the staff is willing to accommodate guests. The pool is currently undergoing maintenance.

PROS ♤Location near to almost everything u need. ♤Room space is huge ♤Comes with a sofa and study table ♤Breakfast available at level 1 ♤ Great ambience at lobby CONS ♡ Poor room maintenance such as; ▪︎ Toilet bowl cannot flush. ▪︎ Bidget spray has no water coming out. ♡ Toilet is very smelly, smell came from the drain in the toilet. ♡ Limited available sockets in the room ♡ Lighting control can only be switch on from bedside switch control ♡ Call for maintenance and they will send someone up but only came to fix the toilet almost 2 hours later ♡ Toilet supplies provided does not come with any toothbrush and toothpaste. ♡ phone in the toilet is not working I could be the only unlucky person who encounter such room.

Room was smelly. Broken coffee cups. Despite cracked provided for guest to make coffee..luckily I didn't get scalded. Toilet flush leaking. Restaurant was not a friendly place to be. Not catered fir vegetarians. A hotel where Pepper and salt is totally unheard of. The lobby chairs are dirty and smelly. Hygiene e I don't see one. A bottle of mineral water which costs less than a ringgit is charged at Rm 5 per bottle. A rip off.Greedy

It has free wifi, bathtub, pool, gym and more. The service from staff and housekeeping was awesome. It is close to restaurants. It also has wheelchair accessible entrance. Comfortable room. Though, it's an expensive hotel, ofc they concern those needs. Well, that's all.

What a dumpster, my car broke down on the way to johor and decided to stay the night. Bad room and amenities, everything is old, the doors are loud and noisy, my door wouldn't shut without having to slam it really hard, the tub was patched up and repaired more than i can count and no hot water. this hotel is 2 stars at most.

Clean room. However the lack alot of simple things like a hairdryer, toothbrush etc. I get that the place is old but charging ports are lacking as well. The bathtub was poorly designed whereby the water will flow out on to the floor when you use the overhead shower. Breakfast was about the same standard as their service as well. Not expecting much from it at all.

A lot of variety menu on iftar Ramadan for year 2022. My family and I having a last day iftar together before Hari Raya. Menu from malay cuisine to western.. Pasta section is the best. Chai tea also very 👍🏼. But short staff on the day, make cleanliness of table slow.. Overall, we happy with the food n price reasonable.

Room was big and cozy but the poor housekeeping missed out some items such as slippers, toothbrushes and the phone was not working. Poor housekeeping lady is all alone to manage the floor. And the swimming pool was a little miserable. Good for kids to burnt their energy. Location is abit out of the way. But still manageable if u drive. We called for Grab for the food massage at Soho99. I personally Like their private parking area. Plus point for this. The sound proof for the rooms need Improvement as we were woke up by footsteps and doors closing. IMHO, the hotel need some upgrading. Otherwise, It is a fine hotel.

Just avoid this hotel, for a small town charged expensive rate but the room really just a budget one. Only at lobby super grand but cheapskate to turn on the aircond, it's freakin hot, saving much? or delusional much? Konon claim hotel dia yang bintang-bintang 4 itu. During check-in the staff forcing to make a full payment instead of pre authorised- because.. "policy" and for sure their refund policy is sheit, not until you insist only they authorised the card but even that they charged for full amount. Really unethical business practise and by the look of it, a total desperate one. It's really aging property, the music, ambience, decor, even management style very low class, very tacky, very dinosor, very chinese. High price but no quality. I bet all their staff are underpaid too. Parking was difficult, limited and always full. Lot of gomen agency held a seminar here, hotel not prioritised in-house guest so breakfast time always full, parking always impossible, poor sound-proof noisy! and the lift so annoying because you got caught up with gomen birokrasi especially the selfish 'vip' 🤮 Room really such a basic, no ironing, no amenites but they did hav selipar jepun and kettle berkarat, be mind they like to plaster exaggerated annoying notice e.g. if lost their selipar jepun yang tak berapa ringgit tu, for penalty of rm100?? Just reflect the management mentality of kiasu-ness. Also, they purposely disconnected the phone line because they cannot handle the reality. Never again.

Absolutely awful experience! 1. Bed sheets got stains 2. Bath tub water doesn't drain when taking shower! 3. Power pointa in room doesn't work! 4. Could hear neighbour having shower, flushing toilet, turning on taps 5. Could hear people walking above our bed WORSE OF ALL ⬇️ Requested for baby cot, but was delivered without a mattress in it!! When requested was given blankets to makeshift as mattress on wooden board/plank! Staff replied that there is NO mattress for cots!! 😳
