Unfortunately, this museum was closed when I visited it (Google’s advertised opening times were a little out). I did enjoy the art sculptures on display outside, especially the abstract layered portrait of a miner.

Kyrgyz National Museum of Fine Arts named after Gapar Aitiev is the main artistic treasure of the Kyrgyzstan. Museum is established in 1935, and had status of Art gallery, but latter renamed to Kyrgyz State Museum of Fine Arts. Museum named after outstanding Kyrgyz artist Aitiev Gapar Aitievich. Aitiev Gapar Aitievich is one of the first Soviet Kyrgyz artists. Nowadays his works are popular around the world. This museum is unique because it’s mixture of Kyrgyz national and Soviet, modern art. Every person can find interesting works for themselves. You can find there wool works of local women, wooden and stone sculptures of Kyrgyz masters, as well as popular works of outstanding artists as Chuikov. S., D.Sydykov, Umetova and G. Aitiev. Also museum offer a room for private exhibitions.

(Translated by Google) Rarely has a person ever been to a museum at least once in his life, if only because a person begins to get used to culture from childhood. If parents do not do this, then in educational institutions visiting museums is included in the upbringing and education program. Sometimes children, after visiting a museum, suddenly ask the question: “Why do we need museums?” Such a question can be forgiven for children, but not for adults, because any sane person should understand the role of museums in our life. Experts, in turn, noted a long time ago that culture is what does not allow a person to descend to the level of animals and what distinguishes a person from an animal. In order to understand this today, it is not at all necessary to be a specialist in the study of people and society. There is culture - there is reason. And vice versa. Reason and culture make a person an intelligent being. Unfortunately, even today this does not happen to everyone and not always ... On this day, having visited the museum, I forgot about the moral pressure that I earned at work, and instead received a flow of spiritual energy, emotions.

Classic soviet (in need of TLC) exterior, interior has beautiful parquet floors and lots of smiley attendants. The space houses both national art and lots of temporary exhibitions. Soviet theme ‘simple’ paintings. A lot of beautiful, traditional jewellery and felt wall covers. Certainly worth a visit. Bonus is clean toilets. Minus, very little signage in English / roman alphabet.

The National Museum of Fine Arts named after Gapar Aitiev (NMFAGA) is a national art museum located in the capital city of Astana, Kazakhstan. It was founded in 2007 and is named after the Kazakh artist Gapar Aitiev, who is known for his contributions to the development of modern art in Kazakhstan. The NMFAGA houses a collection of over 20,000 works of art, including paintings, sculptures, graphics, and decorative art objects. The collection spans a wide range of periods and styles, from ancient artifacts to contemporary works. The museum also has a number of temporary exhibitions and events throughout the year, including solo and group exhibitions of both Kazakh and international artists. One of the main goals of the NMFAGA is to promote the appreciation and understanding of art among the general public. To this end, the museum offers a variety of educational programs and events, including lectures, workshops, and tours. The museum also has a research center that conducts studies on the art and cultural heritage of Kazakhstan and Central Asia. The NMFAGA has a number of permanent exhibitions, including the "Kazakhstan through the Ages" exhibition, which showcases the history and culture of Kazakhstan through various artworks and artifacts. The "Contemporary Art" exhibition displays works by Kazakh and international artists from the 20th and 21st centuries. The "Decorative Art" exhibition features a collection of traditional and contemporary decorative art objects from Kazakhstan and other countries. In addition to its exhibitions and educational programs, the NMFAGA also has a library and a gift shop. The library has a collection of books and periodicals on art and cultural history, and the gift shop sells souvenirs and other items related to the museum's exhibitions and events. The NMFAGA is an important cultural institution in Kazakhstan, and it plays a vital role in promoting the country's art and cultural heritage to a wider audience. It is a must-see destination for anyone interested in art, history, and culture, and it offers a rich and diverse experience for visitors of all ages

Quite standard classical museum on arts with big collections of soviet time. If you are interested in art, then good to visit. I think that not enough lights therefore most of pictures are too dark.

A good place to get an impression of kyrgyz art, both classical and modern type. The building itself is worth a visit as an architectural example of its period. Large parts of the museum are being renovated at the moment and are thus not accessible (july 17)

Exterior is shabby. Interior collection is good. Most of it is in Kyrgyz. Very short descriptions in English. Audio guides are not available. It's on 1st floor of the building even though the receptionist calls it 2nd. Bisjkek doesn't have a concept of G floor. G floor is called 1st floor. The sculptures are pretty recent of 1990's, obviously as the country itself is young.

(Translated by Google) With the new director of the Museum M. Dzhangaracheva, the life of the Museum became very lively. Very often the expositions began to change: we are delighted with the works of artists whose paintings were stored in the storerooms of the Museum, and the works of modern artists. The recent exhibition of paintings by A. Turusbekov impressed with a bright palette of colors, original style and talented technique.

The museum has some interesting art work and copies of some world masterpieces. It's disappointing that phones aren't allowed here while museums around the world have visitors taking their phone cameras with themselves. This place blew our expectations out of the water. It is a very big, extensive gallery of art from Soviet-era artists and contemporary Kyrgyz works. The entry is 100s for adults and there is a student discount for 40s. We almost didn't go, but I'm v glad we did! Especially since the history museum is closed, this is a must see!

It's cold in the halls, smells of centuries-old dust, it's not pleasant to be. Paintings by unknown artists, mostly self-portraits of some people that neither we nor Wikipedia know about. The feeling was that everything that went to the trash was exhibited in the museum. Not even 1/5 of what it was before. There is nothing to look at! On the alley where the sale of paintings near the Ala-Too cinema even the eye rejoiced, inspiration, life, colors, so also free. I do not advise. Нет и 1/5 от того, что было раньше. Не на что смотреть!На алее где продажа картин возле кинотеатра Ала-Тоо хоть глаз радовался, вдохновение, жизнь, краски, так ещё и бесплатно. Не советую.
