Beeindruckend!

Sacred place to visit, to understand the mass destruction of humanity during wars. Peaceful place, silence is mandatory, there's a small film to watch downstairs. Don't forget to check the bones from the outside, and to go up the stairs.

The pile of remains of unknown soldiers placed in foundation of the monument is something most tragic that I've seen in my life. Every living human being should visit this place, soaked with sadness and deep tragedy, but monumental...There would be no wars on Earth...never more!

It has been on my 100 to see list for a while. Didn’t disappoint. But needs more UK translation on exhibits. The whole battlefield 30+ square miles with 4 forts to discover.

Very nice and well maintained WWI monument. A chapel with tower that you can visit for a few and a military cemetery. It is a very visual reminder how war looks like. The military cemetery there is a last resort for 16000 french army military men killed in the WWI, however it is only 5% of the losses near Verdun itself, which was 300 000.

A stunning building and the largest French military cemetery. Arriving early on a sunny late September day was perfect and there were very few other visitors so just the sound of birds. Another breathtaking monument to the French that died in WWI, built to remind us never to enter into a world war again. It only took 21 or so years to forget. The French and the Germans gave so many and yet it wasn't enough. Come when there are no crowds. Very moving.

The spot fits the terrible and inhuman history of the area very well. Seeing all the graves, trenches and other testimonies of the events is breathtaking and impressive.

Uijuijui...

A moving experience, this monument is home to the skeletal remains of over 130,000 fallen French and German soldiers.

A moving experience. A tasteful tribute to the men who sacrificed their lives. No food and no photography, including phones inside the building. It was good to see that everyone was respectful and obeying the rules. Well worth a visit.

We visited the Ossuarium multiple times in the past. The location, ease of access and general atmosphere was awe inspiring. Fast forward to 2023…we now had to pay 23€ for a family of 5! Must everything cost money nowadays? Even places like this? Disgusting.

Just a beautiful place to visit. Everything is clean and the people in this town are very kind. I am going to return for a second visit for sure.

Very intense place, emotionally charged. The definition of the courage of these young men and the horror of mankind, all in same place. You can see so many written names and dates on these walls, telling you how young they were. The Douaumont Ossuary is fascinating, and once climbed up the tower, you can very well imagine the noise of the canons and the soldiers despite the plain and apparently peaceful country you look at. A must-see place.

I was here as a U.S. soldier participating in a Memorial Day special event with French troops. It was a somber day of reflecting on a terrible battle site that changed hands between the German & the French troops several times during World War I. At the conclusion, we marched into town where the townspeople held a huge outdoor meal for us in a buffet style feast. It was such a honor for us to be there with them.

Lovely memorial to the warriors of WW1, You can climb the staircase to the tower to see the magnificent views.

Typical historic place, when seen omaha beach etc. It looks small, but a piece of WW1 history. Take snacks or something with you because there's lot's to see but nowhere to get something to eat.

How can you describe a sad event with the description of a beautiful building and not feel guilty saying it. The names of the fallen look black untill you move and the stain glass makes the writing look red. Tower climb is good exercise and hearing the bells at 12 ring makes you stop , pause and reflect on the loss of this historical place.
