Delicious food! The owner is wonderful, caring and professional. I called ahead to see if they have outdoor seating (hot summer day) and explained that I didn’t want to leave my dog in the car. Was told they didn’t have outdoor seating however when we arrived at the restaurant the owner had set up a table outside for us. So nice and extremely thoughtful. I really appreciated it. Also, all the restaurant staff were awesome. Thank you Ambo! Can’t wait to return.

This family owned restaurant offers counter service style Ethiopian food at resonable prices. This was our first time visiting. There is a cold case with beverages options like soda, hard seltzer and kombucha to accompany your meal. There are a few basic tables to eat on site. Food served quickly after ordering. They seemed to have a decent takeout customer base. Interesting and delicious home style cooking in full and half size portions. Half size was a generous portion of stew ed main and selection of a side dish served atop their flatbread which is somewhat like an unsweetened pancake. The homade cottage cheese was a fresh and cold.

Wow! Don’t sleep on this local gem✨I had the chicken with potato and carrot stew as my side. Delish❣️I was then delighted to discover they offered GLUTEN FREE injera….what?!!🤩?! Immediately yes! It was also delish. The staff were warm and wonderful, just like the perfectly spiced food. I’ll be back, and soon.

This place is hole in the wall, but the food is great. We ordered all 4 main dishes in half size with 4 side dishes. It was a lot of food for 2! There a few more menus items to try next time.

Small restaurant with limited indoor seating. Order at the counter. We each got a half order. The lamb was fantastic. The green lentil was also very tasty. The cabbage side was my favorite. Potatoes and carrots were good, but I’d try the kale next time. The cottage cheese is made in house. Some cooler drinks and beers were available. Service was quick and the food was authentic! Enjoy!

I had Ethiopian on my list for soooo long and I finally got to try this place and I'm obsessed and have to take everyone I love here to share the amazing food! Prices are incredibly reasonable for portion size, gluten free and vegetaria (I think vegan as well) options for everyone and its all spectacular 🖤 do yourself a favor and eat here!! I also have bad guts and had zero stomach issues and tried out most of the food options! Was amazing so walk out feeling nothing but satisfaction for the rest of the day!

This is quiet, cultural, dining in downtown Bellingham. At about ten minutes after ordering, a large family tray with all four meat entrees and four extras were set on the table. Use a tiny pinch of the green hot sauce to add another tantalizing flavor to each entree. The Injera bread was light and did not fall apart when using your fingers to grab the foods. We will return to Ambo Ethiopian Cuisine.

This food was delicious - every single thing we ordered was great. The restaurant was quiet and simple and food came Quickly. The chef came out and she is a wonderful and kind woman. We had four children with us - this place is kids friendly. Also - side note - The bathrooms were very clean.

Great, kind, fast service. They don’t serve my Ethiopian restaurant favorite- the veggie platter, but you can get two veggie choices and order a third and the price is still good. The bread is not traditional but is still very good. The food is a bit salty but when eaten with the bread it’s balanced. Overall I’m happy Bham finally has an Ethiopian restaurant- great for hot or cold weather.

I've enjoyed the food at Ambo for years. I visit with friends and family when they're in town. I love introducing people to Ethiopian food & seeing their reaction (it's always good). My father & step-mom recently visited from Pennsylvania. They are not adventurous foodies and were hesitant to try it. They loved the food here! It's served community style, unless otherwise requested. They really liked the injera bread and the flavors. My little sister is vegetarian and had no problem finding several items on the menu. I always suggest trying the owner's homemade cottage cheese because it's quite different from what you'd buy at the store. I love the mix of textures and tastes on each plate.

This is a small business with authentic Ethiopian food. I was warmly welcomed and my order promptly taken. The food was hot and delicious. I ordered the 1/2 Doro Wat with a side of Cabbage Stew and extra Injera bread. With tip I spent $15.00. Support a small business and maybe try something new!!

The food here is amazing. The Lady that helped us (I'm assuming the owner) was friendly and helpful and even offered samples before we ordered. Good selection of beers and ciders. If you aren't sure if you want to try it just walk in and the smell will settle it quickly it made my mouth water immediately.

I reserve 5 star reviews for fully plant-based restaurants that don't harm animals, but their vegan mains and sides are very delicious!
