I rated 1 star due to being FORCED to download the app for check in. This takes an additional 10 minutes to go through the whole process which should have been painless. My phone was full on storage so I had to delete other apps. If you do not mind that, it’s a wonderful hotel. Great common area with pool and a bar, fun atmosphere and really good rooms. The bathrooms could use a little work though, and I’m not sure if it’s worth the price for a single room. The dorms were very solid though, and it’s in an amazing location for a tourist.

I am having a nightmare tonight. The friend who I am staying with fell asleep so I cannot get into to her apartment. In hopes to find somewhere to sleep, I went to the selina hostel. It’s 4am and I’m stuck, the lady at reception said that they have space, but they can’t let me sleep there because of danger of disturbing other guests. I explained that I have tried 4 other hostels, and they are all full. I cannot stay at this hostel because of the risk of disturbing other guests, so I’ll spend the night walking around Medellin on my own as a solo female. I explained this to the girl at reception and she had little empathy for my situation. I will never spend any money again at this company. Ever. I’m sitting in the rain right now, scared and waiting for the morning, selina was the only hostel I could find an available bed, but no empathy at all. They do not deserve our money, I understand being quiet, this is a special situation, but no exception could be made. The hostel could have been explained to me from outside the room and I could have entered as quietly as someone coming in from a night out. I explained this, but still no empathy for my situation. I’m sitting on a bench at 5am in Medellin now hoping nothing will happen to me. Don’t use this company if you support the safety of women. Don’t use this company if you support empathy. Don’t use this company if you can help it. Thank you for coming to my ted talk

Absolutely terrible, do not stay here! I’ve had great experiences at other selinas but this one is completely different. I’m almost in disbelief that they’re still operating. Let’s start with basics, there was no toilet paper and no soap in the bathroom. The bathroom floors were dirty with puddles of water to the point that my leather sandals were wet. When I went to tell them they told me that all they could do was give me towels so that I could dry the floor. They didn’t even offer to bring soap or toilet paper. This place is falling apart and the staff is unfriendly. The dorm I was in also smelled terrible. I even overheard staff talking about various complaints they had received and how “the guests were paying cheap prices but expected to be treated like kings” I’m sorry but toilet paper is BASIC, so are dry clean mud-less floors. Overall, do not stay here. It is not like the Selinas most of us are used to.

This is not a bad Selina, but the reception staff has a lot to learn. They do the absolute minimum they can. I was here for a week and many of my requests were forgotten or ignored, and/or they gave me wrong information. Every time I got to the reception I felt like I bothered them: they rather talk with each other or keep busy with their phone. Other guests shared this experience with me. Also, the food at the restaurant is bad and expensive, and you get the same bad treatment there. This Selina hotel is not worth your money, there are plenty better ones in Medellin! However, the Cowork place is amazing and the vibe there too! Would definitely recommend this Cowork for digital nomads.

The worst service experience I received! We arrived at the hostel and checked in, no one informed us that there was no water in the entire hostel and that there was no way to deal with the problem, we went to the reception and asked for a partial refund for our stay (because it doesn't make sense that I pay for a private room with a toilet and shower but can't even flush the toilet ) In response we were told that there was nothing to be done about it and that it was not their problem that there was no water and that we should manage with the existing situation. After repeated inquiries, the clerks at the reception just laughed or shouted at us and treated us in the most disrespectful way possible. Even after repeated requests to speak to the manager of the hostel, we were told that it was not possible to speak to anyone. The location is not worth the service here!

Great! Super safe location for solo female travellers. The hotel was able to organize a massage for me which was honestly the best massage I’ve ever had, highly recommend the hot stone massage. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. When my cards weren’t working one staff was kind enough to buy my purchase for me they go above and beyond will definitely be back

The hotel has a very artsy vibe. The rooms are simple but nice. It's walking distance to all the shops etc. However, when we needed maintenance on our toilet we were informed the maintenance staff leaves at 8pm. They couldn't even find a plunger in the whole hotel either. Not having the ability to ensure guests actually have a working toilet in the room is very concerning. Additionally, the lights in the hallway were turned off every evening, leaving us to find our room in the pitch dark. I understand wanting to save electricity (they even have signs posted in the rooms to that effect) , but that seems to be going too far. The wifi seemed a bit spotty, even when we used the one assigned for the coworking space. Probably would not come here again.

One of my least favorite hostel Very synthetic feel when you get the the floors Right next to the busy street with singers going They have a good co work space They have a bar restaurant downstairs one time there was that stupid girl leaving her dog barking non stop inside that garden!! I felt this place had a bad energy that’s me…. But I surely won’t go back I’m at Kiwi 250 meters from it and it’s 100 times better in a better location

When I arrived, the area in front of reception was full of bags, and in case I wanted to leave my bag to them until checkout, it was there where I had to leave it, without any kind of security for my things, since they did not even made sure that whoever took a bag was its owner. The bathroom in the room had poor drain outside the shower, so it was always messy and dirty. The day I felt bad for the altitude and I had an accident in the bathroom while vomiting, they forced me to clean it, but they didn't even offer a rag to help me clean. Instead, they suggested I cleaned with toilet paper and shampoo. They wouldn't even care if I was feeling better, just that the other girls in the room where unconfortable and annoyed. Very poor empathy for the hotel staff. The bar would deliver my orders late and often would forget about me, so I had to remind them of what they missed. And then they would give me cold food, like it was made when I asked, but it never came to me. Since I had my breakfast included, I had to start sitting right in their faces so I could have breakfast without having to complain about the lateness. After a hard day at work, there was nowhere to relax and stay quiet, because every place had music blasting from the bar until midnight. I wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy, and definitely, I prefeer to stay anywhere else before coming back there

The staff are unprofessional, I payed for breakfast with my accommodation and was straight up refused it on the 1 January the women at reception didn't even try to look it up. I showed my email with the breakfast included and she didn't care. Funny thing she gave me the breakfast card two morning's before and on my final day. I never write reviews but this made me angry how I was treated.

People at the check in desk were nice and helpful. Our original room smelled musky and moldy, but they were nice about switching it and the new room was fine. Beds are OK. Shared bathroom felt like an old summer camp and we were reluctant to take showers there. Many restaurants in walking distance (great vegan restaurants too!) however walking felt less safe than closer to Masaya. Overall, ok hostel if it was a lot cheaper. For this price, I would recommend going elsewhere. Location 2/5, Rooms 2/5, service 5/5, cleanliness 3.5/5, ambience 4/5. Cute salsa lesson and live salsa music.

This Selina is very poorly maintained. Great coworking, great events. Absolutely disgusting bathrooms. Never any soap or hand towels, always dark and dirty. I cannot overestimate how bathrooms are the bare minimum that any place to stay is judged on. Cartagena Selina feels like a VIP luxurious resort if you compare to the bathrooms there.

A really awesome place to mingle and be social. Our room was nice and having the cafe and bar right on property was convenient. Be aware you’re paying for the social atmosphere, group events, etc., but you are not necessarily getting anything luxurious. To us, this was completely worth it, but just something to note.

Travelled through many Selinas before and this was terrible. Paid for an apartment which was horrible so ended up in a private suite with no AC. Did not feel clean or hygienic. Friends stayed at another hotel where they paid less and had a much better experience. Common areas where dirty and abondended. Power went out multiple times. I wont be back.

stay at masaya for much newer, cheaper and better property in poblado. This property is designed as 12 dollar/ night hostel but priced like a 4 star hotel. Overpriced, none of the private rooms have fans which is a massive oversight in a place with 23+ deg weather. everything needs work. Multiple outlets do not work, the toilet leaks, you can see roaches in the stairwells. There are only 2 elevators for the entire building which can not fit more than 6 people at a time. Staff is very indifferent and ineffective at their jobs. Check in process took over 30 min as the app would not be able to pull my reservation. The common areas are quite nice. If you choose to stay here do not leave any valuables in the luggage storage, there was only 1 clerk and he was too busy to check tickets so people were just coming to in and out of the luggage storage room with zero security. I feel scammed. Which is unfortunate as the other Selina properties were quite nice.

If you travel Selina then you know that you expect consistency. Although each will have its own unique experience. This Selina has NO POOL, and the nightlife is just SAD. The rooms are highly priced and low quality. I paid for 2 nights in 8 person dorm and they put me in 10 person dorm with no light working in the bathroom. I requested them to fix it and nobody did. Also the share bathrooms were all locked expect the showers and there was NO POWER SOURCE. Second we stay in the suite (because we already paid and was nonrefundable) mattress was very thin and the shower is not draining properly. I could have paid same price for a VERY NICE hotel here. Last- not many people so hard to meet friends, rude staff complained they don't want you to use cinema and cinema only works if you have streaming on your phone, breakfast choice is only 2 options, and it's NOISY!! You can hear so much partying until the morning- coming from down the street (not from Selina bc the party here SUCKS)

Lots of: music that rattles your room at 2am, cigarette and weed smoke, your room key not working, and paying extra to use the coworking space. Not a lot of: help from the one person at the front desk, working wifi, or the semi-private bathroom I paid for. The cleaning staff are really wonderful, though. They’re the only ones who care and do their job well. I stayed here two weeks and regret it. I’ve stayed in hostels and cheap hotels all over the world and this is probably the worst. Take away the trendy decor and it’s a dump (with wonderful cleaning staff).

This Selina is fun if you are looking for a place to party and fun activities, it has a cool bar, where the staff is really cool and very friendly. Even if you don’t stay here, the cowork is actually good. Besides from that, I had not a very great experience. I stayed as a nomad and I can tell you it has very low quality bethrooms and bathrooms. I was supposed to share bathroom with three bedrooms and they were all “out of service” so I had to share bathrooms with the whole floor. The kitchen is supper dirty and not equipped. No attention to detail. Staff at the front desk is not very good or professional.

We arrived at 10pm and had to wait 1h to check in, bc the reception was understaffed or badly organized. They didnt have enough keys for rooms so we needed to wait for the security guy to open us the door of each room.. I don’t know if the receptionists are volunteers or if there is a problem in the management but it seems that they don’t like their job (I am myself receptionist and i can tell that some of them should not work in hospitality). The toilet and bathroom at the 7th floor were very dirty. Otherwise the neighborhood is very nice and the food at both restaurants is very good (waitress and security are friendly :)

I had the pleasure of staying at Selina for a month in one of the apartment studios. I worked nearly full time, enjoyed the city and my stay at Selina. My Selina experience was incredible for so many reasons but I want share a few: - Even on days when I had a heavy workload and couldn’t go out to explore, I felt like I was in the middle of it all. Right at the hotel there was live music, salsa class, karaoke, yoga, a soccer match playing and so much more. - Right within the hotel there was a lively bar attracting guests and visitors from outside Selina, a cafe, a few unique shops and tons of co-working space. - My room was clean and comfortable. I must have had the best view of the city with fabulous light. If you want “my” view you will be above the bar and might feel like you are sleeping in a club so bring noise-canceling headphones if you are sensitive - I met international travels from all corners of the world and took a tour of Guatape that I highly recommend. - Most of all I want to recognize the staff. Juan Pablo and the receptionists, the regular baristas who knew my name and favorite coffee by the end. Juan Camilo and the security team who were dedicated to the safety of the guests while also being the first welcoming faces I saw each time I walked in the door. Thank you to housekeeping, all of the maintenance staff who obviously were working hard to continuously keep improving the already artful and modern environment. I HIGHLY recommend Selina whether you are here for a month or just a few days :)

For a Selina hostel is was so underwhelming. Although the hostel is large, it's amenities and offerings (beds, bathrooms) are low quality and feel dirty. Plus, I've been trying to talk to their staff about a water bottle I left behind and they said they have it, yet when I go in person to pick it up they don't have it. Now they aren't answering. Just terrible service. Not a very good experience at all.

Do not go here. Most rooms have no AC, elevator skips our floor, covered in graffiti, they limit how many towels you can have. Trashy. Very noisy at night. No sound insulation from the thuds of a club happening in the basement (The Garden).

I had a blast at Selina Medellin. They have so many options for visitors to do. Their staff is super friendly and helpful. The venue is clean and their outdoor bar space is epic. My bed was a bit too firm for my liking but that’s the only critique I have. I Would surely stay there again and would encourage others to. The location couldn’t be better. Just be aware of your surroundings and be smart as you would in any new foreign country.

I don’t understand this concept at all. Overpriced and poor service. It feels like the emperors new clothes. Probably mainly targets “Nomads” who claim to be nomadic and experiencing the world, while what they truly is, is sticking to the same chain because it makes them feel safe and comfortable. They might as well go to a Hilton or Marriot, but I guess that would be too “pretentious” for them, so they choose to pay the same price for scrap. Easily fooled I guess.

I wish I would have read reviews before booking. If you scroll down literally every review is terrible. It’s advertised quiet hours at 10pm and we booked an early morning tour to guatape. Our room is on the very end with all windows to the bar, and the salsa was so loud we couldn’t even hear each other talking. Messaged the “24/7” front desk and had no response. Literally the most miserable night and ruined the tour the next day because I was so exhausted. I stayed at a Selina in Costa Rica and had a good experience but this made me decide I’ll never go back to one. Also didn’t get the room that I actually reserved. If I could give negative stars I would. I have friends coming to visit Medellin and I will tell them to stay anywhere but here

I’ve been to Selina's bar twice and loved it both times. Venue is artsy and stylish. Atmosphere is chill and cool. Bartenders, in addition to being super friendly, prepare the best cocktails in Medellín. You must try their G&T, you won’t regret it!! Overall I’d a great experience and I’m definitely coming back.

This was my home away from home for 2 months- I don't know where to start! Reception was very helpful with my inquiries, service oriented and attentive (Maria Valentina, Dana, Juan, Vale, and the rest). Changed my room to better accommodate my needs (made all the difference) Cafe was one of my work spots and breakfast was solid (Desayuno Nomada or pancakes were my go too, Beto, Felipe, MaJo, Sebastian and team knew how to make Americano's how I like them- I'm quite picky) Kitchen /restaurant severely underrated- if they are doing the weekly coworking lunch, I suggest joining as a great way to meet people and the salmon dish I had would have cost much more at the other high end places I went to (same quality, better price in Selina- kudos to Andres and team) Activities were enjoyable thanks to Paola, Cristina, Lizeth and team- do the mandalas to meet people, also the salsa and bachata nights you can get free pass to the club in Garden) I've been to multiple Selina's and this one had a sense of companerismo (team/family environment among the workers) that I appreciated. Too many people I need to mention, including manager Stefanie also going out of her way to make my experience unforgettable (her pug Mia is a favorite with the guests) Cleaning staff were always very attentive with me (Aura, Alennis, Maria Teresa and team) En fin, like every place, there are things they can work on (better organization for the kitchen and add more appliances like a spatula ;) I was skeptical coming in, but came away appreciative of the environment (met a lot of travel friends and locals, we even had a multi national Thanksgiving dinner) and effort from the team Cheers my friends and very much look forward to returning next year!

Selina's has a salsa social on Mondays that caters to gringos. They say that it ends at midnight. At 11:15 the staff starts putting tables in the middle of the dance floor as if to say get out. 99% of the music is super fast unlike other more relaxed styles that one can dance to comfortably. Oh and a bottle of water is 8 mil and a beer is 15 mil. Way overpriced. There are many better venues to dance with much better dancers. Never going back

The epitome of whats to come as Colombian youth start to work in a Tik Tok age. Worst service you will ever encounter at a hostel, hotel, or prison. They def need to just fire everyone because it's a dumpster fire of terrible, unfriendly workers. (except the gardener that guy's on his A game) You want wifi? Nahhhh. You want fans in your room on 32º day? Nahhhh. You want working water and to shower?? try next week. You want a refund? Too bad, already charged back my credit card. Hope to see the workers at the next street corner with Vive100's next time I'm in Poblado.

We stayed at this hotel with a group. This is the worst experience i have had and it is so disappointing because it ruins the feeling of medellin. 1. We don’t have AC. They say they announced this beforehand, but they did not. We asked for a fan, they did not even have enough fans. Mind you its 32 degrees celsius. Windows are large for the view but only a really small part opens to get some kind of wind. 2. Wifi does not work. How is this a co-working hotel and the wifi doesn’t work. And apparently they are aware of this now that i am reading the reviews. And worst of all, they pretend to have someone ‘fix’ it. 3. We had breakfast included but could only choose some options. And no drink included. Only tea or black coffee or milk. 4. Really bad service. No one attends you until you go up to them to ask for help. 5. We didn’t even have a glass to drink out of in the room 6. The effort to resolve issues is 0. I keep reading in the review replies that they will work on those issues, but none of them Are resolved so these replies are without good intentions. P.s. if you expect a tv, don’t! Really the worst hotel i have ever been to and i travel 5 times per year. Not recommended at all! I have nothing good to say about Selina Medellin!

I recently stayed at Selina Medellín Hotel & Cowork, and it was an absolute delight. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive (specially Sebastían, Beto and Felipe), the room was beautifully appointed, and exploring the area was extrémele easy thanks to the location. Overall, a fantastic experience – I'll definitely be returning!

(-) The private room was a bit different from the photos the hostel published. (Less attractive…). (-) Room cleaning service ends early. If you sleep late after party you’ll miss it. (+) The shared kitchen is big. (+) The shower was really good. (+) The hostel has a huge compound, including many areas to sit with friends. (+) The hostel located very close to the bars and parties alley.

Very nice and clean facility. You’ll surely be inspired here and likely find other digital nomads or people with money on travel. It’s pricey here but if inspiration and somewhere comfortable is what you need then this seems right.

The best part about Selina Medellin is the cafe staff. Gibson is the heart and soul of the Selina and everyone looks forward to waking up in the morning to get a latte made by him! I'll be returning just for this.

The staff and decor was great and recommend staying here. However, we stayed in the family room and the windows did not even close all the way and the cord to the air conditioner was cut. This questioned the safety a family room offered for younger kids and how humid the nights were.

This is not the normal location I might choose while traveling because of the hostel environment. However, it was recommended as Great place and it was that and a lot more. The location is great the amenities in the building are also good. I cannot complement the staff enough, Catalina is who checked us in and she also helped daily with every question we had about the hotel or area. Her help was greatly appreciated!!

It was really clean and quiet. I was very grateful when they upgraded me to a studio with a bathroom for no charge! I wish there would have been more social events offered to meet people or see the city, but also enjoyed the bar and restaurant there!

I have enjoyed my time at Selina so much that I decided to extend my stay another month. This is a great place to meet new friends and make connections. The Garden restaurant is beautifully decorated with plants and has some activities scattered around (ping pong, pool, giant Jenga etc.) I stayed in a dorm room for the majority of my stay so far. It's well equipped with lockers, a fully functioning bathroom with a hot shower and shelves/light beside each bed. The room and bathroom are cleaned on a daily basis and the cleaning staff are friendly. There is also a cafe and co-work on the ground floor. The baristas, especially Gibson, are attentive and accommodating. The co-work is equipped with nearly sound proof phone booths for conference calls, coffee, water and a variety of seating options. Last but not least, there is a meditation room and a yoga deck where you can take classes or spend time practicing on your own. The yoga deck is especially lovely because it's located right next to the river which adds to the already relaxing ambience. Special shout out to Carlos, the security guards and the gardeners for always being helpful and making me feel super welcome.

I love the place and, specially, the excellent and kind attention given by the bartenders Camilo and Lina 🥰🥰🍻🍻🍻 It’s my first time in Colombia and they recommended me drinks, things to do and other local stuff. They always receive us with a big smile and care about our needs! I would strongly recommend this bar and, if you have the chance, talking with them 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

This cafe and the employees here are wonderful! I worked in the coworking space for over a month, and they kept me caffeinated on great lattes, tolerated my poor Spanish, and greeted me with happy meeting breaks the entire time. It would be great in the future if coworkers could use mugs and not throw away cups but that is the only thing I would change.

Not only we had issues with our stay, we are expected to receive $100 back since February. It’s 4 months they are playing with us. So here is the summary of what else is wrong with this place: -choppy internet- co work? Nope. Co date more like it. - noise until 3 am (base shaking the walls) every day - private office has no walls! Basically you can hear everything and even smell next door’s egg salad… Pay for nothing in advance. They will say you’ll get it back but then keep it and ignore your emails and calls.

Generally, it is a good place to stay in for few days - it’s not expensive, it is well placed, populated with travelers from all over the world and has cool facilities, such as nice bar, restaurant and cinema room. But, the maintenance is not good - the water in the showers are not hot enough and there are leaks all over the place. In addition, there’s a lot of noise at night but I guess that the price of this prime location.

One of the best Selinas for food, activities, and coworking space. Absolutely stunning location and design. Amazing, cheap food. And the facilities and activities are extensive... Library, theater, meditation and yoga, men's and women's group circles weekly, free waffles on Wednesdays, and on and on...

No soap or shampoo, shared bathroom is locked for private rooms, no power plugs in other public shared bathrooms. There is alot of complicated stuff with this hotel . Over priced for it's cleaniness and room size. You cant have visitors over even though my reservations is for 2 adults. Not recommended at all.
