Far beyond the nativity scene, a natural history museum and botanical garden, with a lot of history to tell, is worth checking out, preferably with a guide.

Pipiripau Nativity Scene Built by Raimundo Nonato, he grew up in a humble Catholic family, he was always passionate about nativity scenes, but they were very expensive. At the age of 12 he bought his first Jesus piece, and from that first purchase he started building his own pieces with papier-mâché, he used plaster on some pieces, but most of the pieces were created with papier-mâché. Throughout his life he built various elements, characters and began to create movements for his pieces. As he grew up in Belo Horizonte, he built several spaces in the city, such as the municipal park. It also reconstructs scenes that marked the life of Jesus Christ, portraying scenes from the New Testament. Listed as a cultural and emotional heritage of Minas Gerais, Pipiripau tells the life of Jesus Christ in 45 scenes and 580 movable figures.

The nativity scene is very well maintained, there are schedules for presentations and explanations from the guide, my children were delighted to see it working! There was only a very long waiting time now in January/2023, with a full room and people sitting on the floor to fit in (the room is very small!), but it was worth it!

Very cool. Living history of Belo Horizonte. The guide could have told a little more about the history of each piece, but it doesn't take away from the beauty.

The guide presented the nativity scene superficially, she did not stay during the nativity scene. At one point, a child leaned over to pick up one of the figures and was restrained by the spectators who were watching the nativity scene. It is extremely irresponsible to leave a 120-year-old work unattended!

The experience was wonderful!! I went with my nephews, we went along the trail, it was super cool, then we took part in the cave painting workshop, we will definitely go back, the boys loved it. Remembering that it is open until Saturday and entry is free

The Nativity scene was renovated in 2014 and the place is very good for a walk. Some other spaces are undergoing maintenance.

The nativity scene is really interesting, what the mind can do, with recycled materials, like what you have at home. I thought the museum was really cool, I'll come back later to see the dinosaur wing... I highly recommend it!
