This is a beautiful, updated to perfection huge castle. The rooms were very spacious and designed magnificently! We had the 4000 sq ft Presidential Suite and the 1000 sq ft large suite with living room, both were the very best of the best rooms anywhere in the world! The service was good. The food was good.

Just had an amazing experience here. The views are stunning. The whole place gives you a majestic vibe. I had an amazing burger as well as beer with dessert in the restaurant. Top notch food and service

I was so happy with our room, the decoration, the bed and everything inside our room. Exploring the castel was also a nice experience. The pool was too crowded on Saturday, with a lot of kids while their noses were running!!! So if you prefer a more relaxed, more quiet and more hygienic pool-experience I suggest to plan for weekdays or non-summer holidays. The massage experience was fantastic and all of the hotel staff were extremely polite and nice. The most satisfying thing was the room service, top-noch services.

Super well maintained castle and hotel. The place is a part of the 100 best hotel in Germany 2022/2023. Super easy to reach. Clear and fresh. Rooms are lovely. All details are under the control. Lovely spa area. Stuff at reception and in cleaning service is outstanding, stuff and terrace and breakfast at weekend was super disappointing and they were concentrated on themselves + technically they did not manage to keep standards during weekend on breakfast: different colors of plates, different shapes of teapots, dirty teacups, lack of teacups (even it is provided by tea producer for free), on Monday all was much better: from service till equipment. In general we are satisfied with staying and do realise there is a huge problem with service people in Germany now.

Very average experience, definitely not 5 star worthy as absolutely overpriced for what you get. Very large hotel (120 rooms) at bokking direct with the hotel, they said fully booked but an upgrade was possible for extra money. At arrival probably max. 25% booked by my judgement. Rooms/design under par (my personal opinion. As very frequent traveler no way +500 Euro per night worth the experience as very “cold” felt place not castle 🏰 worth. The food very average not up to standard. Bed 🛏️ was good, would not recommend this spot for romantic getaway/weekend. C’mon Althoff step up your game if you want to play top league hospitality or change your tariff to standard experience!

Wonderful SPA getaway. From start to finish everything was superb. The spa is lovely, food is excellent (skip the late night menu, it’s not so good) the staff go above and beyond. The suites are large, spacious & classically beautiful. Top service all the way around. will definitely return.

Excellent building and interior. Very comfortable rooms. Not 5 stars because the hotel presents itself as excellent so I rate them on my experience of excellence. Service was a bit messy. For example: Tried to call concierge or restaurant and nobody picks up. Called operator to make reservation in the hotel restaurant but reservation was lost. Asked for sightseeing in the area and someone else was called to the reception to tell me locally there is nothing much. And I should go to cologne (not asking me what I am interested in to see)

It's a great place to spend a weekend and feel yourself as a Duke 😁 Very spacious rooms, fine smell of bath cosmetics, a lot of space around. Beautiful sight seeing from the highpoint of castle 🏰. it's also a great place for conferences.

Stunning venue for your private event or wedding for sure. It's a little out of the way from Cologne and Bonn, but certainly a good stop over for cross continental drivers. The grounds and the hotel are stunning and staff are very kind and acoomodating. Here again, I have to stress that it's rather a couples and business hotel rather than a family one. Even though their rooms are very spacious and perfect for a larger family, there aren't any facilities to cater for little ones. Even in the pool area, we were told multiple times to keep the kids quite (who ever has succeeded keeping two 2year olds and a 5 year old quiet in a pool, I need to know) Breakfast had a great selection of cold and warm buffet, here again, dirty looks towards noisy children. Room service for kids dishes was good, two different pastas and Schnitzel. Otherwise, the bar was very nice and offered a vast selection of steak cuts and selected wines. All in all good hotel, worth a visit if around or wait for their sister hotel Dom to open in city centre Cologne.

Beautiful Hilltop Castle, with incredible views day and night. Service was impeccable, really really appreciate everything they did before and after our wedding day. They offered us extra room to do my wife's hair and makeup. It was an extremely hot day and they gave us access to one of their Saals to do our wedding photos in. They have a beautiful outdoor garden area with seating for a drink, coffee, or food. The spa and wellness we will have to come back and try in the near future.

We were in the room 314 last weekend. We had a great stay at this hotel. The staff is very kind and professional. The tea time with the piano is a great moment. The spa is also very good. I scored it 4 stars because there's room for improvement. The technology/connectivity in the rooms are very limited. In 2023, in a 5 stars hotel we're expecting more. Also everybody was complaining about how cold it is at night while eating at the Dali's bar. We were literally freezing there. The staff was great though, but they couldn't do much about the cold. The food served at the Dali's bar is below average.

Sehr schöne Hotel-/Schlossanlage mit interessantem geschichtlichen Hintergrund. Alles sehr gepflegt, sauber, besonders, hochwertig.

A 5 stars hotel with 2 stars services 1. I ordered a bed with king size bed. But i noticed they puttwo signgle beds side by side. And each one had a seperated mattress. Over the night I fell down from the middle of the beds. The two single beds were not fixed and because of their wheels, they were moving and it was near to break my nose. 2. The most inconvenient experience was with reception. They were not helpful at all. The restaurants were fully booked and i requested to have my dinner at my room. But the reception insisted we have to order from the room service and restaurants doesn't provide the meals as the room service. I went personally to the restaurants and they accpeted to bring the fod to the room. 3. The breakfast totally didnt worth it at all. Very ordinary buffet with restricted options. 4. The whirlpool is only for two people and honestly it was just a little bit bigger than bathtub. Its water was also cold and you could simply smell the chlorine. The pool is also small. So dont count on it as a part of your leisure 5. Restaurant foods was good but their price was comparable to michelin star restaurants. But dont expect that quality. I believe it is good for locals but definitely does not meet your expectations from a 5 star hotel

We absolutely loved this hotel and will be back for another visit soon! The rooms were spacious and very clean. We stayed there with our 5 year old and 10 month old. When the hotel found out that the baby was with us, they left all kinds of goodies for the baby in our room...a pack n play, a diaper pail, baby toiletries, a baby spa robe and even baby slippers! So thoughtful! The bathroom was a spa unto itself; I could've locked myself in the bathroom and been perfectly happy! :) The pool is open for children from 2-4 daily so it limits kiddo swim time but it worked out. There is plenty to do within walking distance of the hotel and there is even a playground on the grounds as well. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. As a side note: this is an old world castle. With that being said, the roads are not paved (in the American sense) and the layout in the hotel is a little wonky (stairs that don't connect and elevators that only go to certain floors), so if you are travelling with a stroller, keep that in mind. It definitely would not keep me from visiting and is manageable, but had I known in advance, I would've packed lighter. :) Stay here...you won't regret it!

One of a kind. Unique architecture and beautiful interiors to explore. Really helpful and friendly service -- they even offered to plug in our EV when I forgot. Food choices were excellent, and restaurant staff were very knowledgeable. Only regret was staying only one night. Will be back again.

As a 5* hotel I was expecting more of this. And as an Expedia Gold status I was support to get got some extra perks. • VIP perk: 1 Free bottle of wine per stay • Stay in style: free room upgrade when available • Late check-out subject to availability Mention your Gold Expedia Rewards status at check-in to collect your exclusive perks None of this happened, even though I mention my Gold status. Nonetheless, when we got to the room, it was dusty, hair in the bath tub and sink… Some people were nice, but one lady at the reception could not even get a hello out of her mouth…I am not sure if she is shy or just had a bad day… It’s a definitely a gorgeous place, but I am not sure if I’d go back again!

The hotel is located in a beautiful building and rooms are decorated in the same stile. We loved it! There is a picturesque view as the area around the hotel is very nice and 10 km walking route is located nearby. The only thing we found not pleasant is that due to weddings held in the hotel other guests might feel some inconvenience. For example, our room was close to one of the conference rooms and we were asked to keep silence once we went out our room as there was some activity there. Or we couldn't get back to the hotel lately in the evening because of fireworks and we had to wait in front of main gates until it was finished and all stuff was put away. Well, it could have been completely fine for us if we were somehow notified about these things at reception during check in. But except this, we enjoyed our staying and had a great time in Spa and listening piano in the bar outside the hotel.

A great five star hotel with peerless service and cleanliness. The food for breakfast was great and for a company event we also ate lunch and dinner at the hotel - exceptional. Really feels like royalty staying in this castle!

Superb rooms, extremely quiet and fantastic beds. Lovely pool area and very good gourmet food. A nearby forest is ideal for trekking and if you brought your electric Porsche with you, it can be charged in their spacious garage under the hotel.

This is an amazing hotel. A fine emblem of Rhine Valley hospitality, combining warmth and efficiency with ease. Our room was spacious, the food we were served was good, and the service was really thoughtful. A true 5-star experience.

Won't be back any time soon! Nice location (chateau), Spa & Wellness area is small but ok, but: The service during dinner at the "castle kitchen" (Restaurant Jan Wellem) was horrific. We were leaving the Spa quite early (even though we would have liked to stay for a little while) because the reception had booked our "4-course-menu" for 6.30 p.m. The first two courses (salad and soup which were quite good) had been changed to "buffet" (presumably to reduce staff costs) but which is still fine. For a quite long time nobody was taking away the dishes (~20 min) which we had put aside to eat the soup. After taking away the dishes we were asked whether we would like to continue with the main course right away which we affirmed. The next 40 minutes we were asked again and again (3 times in total) whether we were ready for the main course - but no food arrived. When our fish arrived at the table it was kind of cold. After taking away the dishes from the main course, we were asked whether we would like to start right away with the dessert which we - again - affirmed. Again the staff asked us two times more whether we would like to have the dessert. After 60 minutes the dessert arrived (still, the ordered coffee to accompany the dessert never showed up, neither on the table nor gladly at the bill). One could see that also other guests were looking confused about the service, because they were receiving the wrong menu. There wasn't much staff (maybe three waiters/waitresses for 30 guests) and only one of them who was bringing the food from the kitchen was acting professionell. When we checked out at the next morning at the reception, our decent hint "whether the kitchen was a little bit busy last night" was commented slightly snobbish and proud that all three restaurants were fully booked... I really have to admit that I have never experienced such bad service in a restaurant, not even in "normal" restaurants. All in all, for us the trip was quite disappointing.

The Grand Suite was perfect. Very quiet, clean, well maintained, the housekeeping was great too. The Dali Restaurant was really nice, the Italian restaurant could do much better. The food was ok, the vibe a bit less. The breakfast was also very good, lots of qualitative options to choose from. Overall we had a pleasant stay, the wellness was also great, and the castle itself is absolutely stunning.

Absolutely great venue, the service is excellent and what you can expect from a 5-star hotel. On top of, you have a great spa and 2-star Michelin restaurant.

We use this beautiful hotel when we attend a special dining event at the hotel. This time we participated in their champagne Sunday brunch. Highly recommended, even the flies liked it.

Beautiful place and surrounding with a view at the Dom of Köln. The rooms are very nice and neat and classically decorated. The whole building looks perfect en clean. We have a very nice dinner in the garden of Enoteca. Typical Italian dishes which are delicious, in this atmosphere you feel you’re in Tuscany. The winelist contains the best Italian wines 🍷 The bar is the perfect place to enjoy a cocktail 🍸 or an aperitive. The breakfast is perfect 👍🏻 A lovely place to recommend

Beautiful building and yard. We are a family who shoots music videos with our ten year old daughter as a family hobby (not for social media!). We've been doing that for years. We were allowed to shoot all over Germany and the Netherlands without ANY problems (Schlossburg Solingen inside as well!!! Burg Eltz, ZoomPark, Eftelingen, Dance In Tanzstudio opened especially for us and everywhere we were told that we don't have to go through the events/marketing department as we are no buisness and they glady support a family hobby. At Schloss Bensberg they asked us to pay 750Euros!!!!!!! Which we obviously declined...shame

Really nice 5 star hotel! Awesome service and a very welcome feeling! amazing food and a nice spa area.I would give 5 stars but I wasn't able to turn off the heating (central system not manually in the room) which was quite loud. So I'll be back in summer !

It is a beautiful place, nice sinery and ellengant building. I like the low key 5 stars chic deco, the combination with so many beautiful chandeliers creates a fine balance. I also like the breakfast area . It was quite busy but everything still imanaged in a good order.
