Once upon a time in a promising hostel in Berlin. I found myself wandering in the corridor with very little light. As I worked myself a way through the dust and reached the bathrooms I thought to myself;"it must be very anonnoying for the homeless person sleeping in the toilet that the light turns on and off constantly". Althought for me the stroboscoop effect was getting me in the mood of Berlin clublife. Even the showervurtaims were KitKat themed: you could see right through them. On the contrary, the mold and dampness of the rooms gave the essence of Mother Nature. The squeeky, moving beds added nautic theme to the sleeping sensation. Nevertheless the receptionist and staff was super nice and the trashcans were emptied regularly as of it being the only thing that was not trash <3

The hostel is located in an ok location in Berlin and the dorm room of 4 people was quite spacious, with a locker, a comfortable mattress and a charging plug next to bed. However, it is unacceptable that the hostel does not accept any credit card and only accepts cash, the men’s toilet on the fourth floor does not even work and the hostel has no lift and you have to stay carrying your belongings all the way to the top. The toilet is also not so clean and the Brazilian receptionist was super nice.

The bathroom is just disgusting!! They look like they haven't been cleaned in weeks :( Rooms are ok and room size is also appropriate. I booked 4 nights, had to pay everything upon arrival and didn't get a cent back when I wanted to check out after one night. The operators of this hostel don't seem to care what the customers think about their establishment and don't offer fair service. During my short stay I also noticed the general dissatisfaction of the other guests. Guests constantly complain to reception about the lousy conditions in the hostel, the smell and the bathrooms. There are definitely better alternatives.

Okay let's be honest, this is a hostel in a lovely part of berlin. Looking out over a gorgeous park (if your lucky enough to get the only room with a balcony) where you can see how drugsdealers and young families can actually coexist. Which literally ( I mean litterally) means one or two dudes will come up to you on your visit to a petting zoo. But great bakeries just around the corner. The community inside the hostel is amazing as. Out side of the staff which is honestly super sweet and helpful. Like the cleaning staff that will check if they can clean your room, even if the door is locked and your trying to take a nap. As well as the homeless person sleeping in one of the only working womensbathrooms. He will only grunt if you wake him up. Or the pigeon some friends of ours found upon arriving to their room. I'm sure they meant well. The rooms where provided with bunk beds that even the Soviet union would have deemed unsafe. They creaked more than the floors even if there wasn't a person sleeping in them. The lights in the room where depressing enough to trigger a my winter depressions ( didn't have those for at least 7 years) just one white led light fit not even fit for a bicycle. Covered with a cover so dirty no light actually came through. But the text is getting long so let's list: Discusting beds you can't role in because of the dents in the mattresses. With huge stains Black mold in shower. Not working elevators No light They offer breakfast but don't have a communal room or kitchen available Random people walking in. No sound isolation between hallways and rooms. ( you will hear everything) The price is obnoxiously high compared to what you get. Seriously no comparing You can walk into any shower or bathroom you want they aren't private.

Don’t stay at this hostel! It’s filthy and has NO kitchen, not even a fridge or a kettle. I sent an urgent package and they told me they wouldn’t receive it. They charge you for the bed linen and the mattress was disgusting, full of hairs and lint. And so old and dented it gave me extreme back pain. I wanted to cancel my stay and they wouldn’t give me my money back. Booking here was the worst decision I ever made. Go anywhere else but here. They also don’t have ANY common areas, just a tiny disgusting patio with no chairs, so completely useless. Also no washing machines or anything you could possibly need. When I asked for a recommendation of where to do washing, the receptionist told me to google it.

We stayed in the hostel for one night. The room size was okay, not super clean at first glance, but okay. Bed linen was available at reception. The mattresses in the room had a rubber cover, which I liked. There was a smell of cold smoke in the hallway because some people smoked in the toilets. Unfortunately the building is also very noisy, we could hear the neighboring couple ^^ Unfortunately we had a little visitor when we left the next morning. A bed bug. At the door we were asked by a woman if she could sleep in our room for a while because she didn't have any money. I don't know how she got in, but that doesn't exactly reflect the security of the building

The worst hostel ever. Would not recommend it! Full of freakies and drunk people that I don' t understand why they are accepted and put in mixed dormitory even if it is evident at a first impression that they should not be in a public hostel. Building itself not very clean and with a very obscure vibe. The only positive thing is that the receptionist was kind but no reception service is planned for the night time so this makes feel really unsafe.

Room dirty, bathroom disgusting. We don't have any luxury expectations, but this was worse than 0 star camping. A beautiful old house, so run down!! With a little effort it could be really nice. Cleaning! Cancel! The location is good, a few minutes from Goerlitz train station. The receptionist was very friendly. I can't recommend it to anyone.

The hostel in Berlin, unfortunately, didn't meet our expectations. The main issue was that the reception was only open until 11 PM. After Madonna's concert, which ran late, we couldn't contact the staff, resulting in the loss of our reservation. This experience significantly impacted our opinion of the place, so, unfortunately, we do not recommend it.

Keycards not working -- another guest woke us up in the middle of the night trying to get into the room unsuccessfully until someone got up to open for him. Bathroom floor always wet. Overall trashy feeling. Once used to be a decent hotel it seems but that was a long time ago. 2 stars for the incredibly sweet, kind and helpful receptionists on both days of our stay <3!

Didn't even check in 10 minutes ago and I want to leave. I gave this hostel a shot just for a night even with the bad reviews. The front desk guy was very nice and helpful, but the problems start right after him. So many stairs, I was on the fourth floor, 8 flights of stairs just to get up that they don't mention. The room and especially the lockers STANK of BO, and the lockers were long thin highschool style lockers that couldn't even fit my backpack. The bathrooms are dire - it's an open bathroom with two shower cubicles seperate with nothing but a plastic curtain. The toilets are in the same room and aren't fully enclosed so you can hear....everything 🤢 To top it all off as I left to go sit in the park, a whole van full of cops pulled up for god knows why. I only recommend it if you're literally only needing a bed to sleep.

Gustó · Location No gustó · Awful experience. Don't be fooled by the cheap price, pay a little bit more and have a great experience in another hostel who treat their guests properly and with respect. Our experience with 36 rooms: -The shared bathrooms are dirty and smelly, and no one is cleaning them on daily basis. The floor in the men's toilets was flooded all the time. -The shared rooms are filthy, if you take a look to the floors and under the beds you will find dirt from days or weeks ago. There was rotten fruit on the top of the lockers in our room. -When you check in you have to make your own bed, good luck knowing which one is your bed, because when you check out you should remove the bed linen, but nobody really does. We had to ask the recepcionist (very nice and helpful) to know which bed was free, there was dirt and stains that looked like shit on the sheets and the matress protector. At night, when we came back at 12pm, a stranger was sleeping in my partner's bed so we had to share a single bed both of us. We complained and asked for a refund because we didn't want to be there, the manager was totally useless and manipulative, he didn't even let us speak and was not taking any responsability about anything. He didn't want to refund the nights we had ahead because "he was losing money". He also said he was going to ask the cleaning staff for a deep clean in our room. The only thing they did it was taking out the trash, the dirty linen that was on the floor. - You will have to pay 4€ for fresh bed sheets and 2€ for a towel. - The building is old and not maintened properly, so the floors, the doors and the street noise make it impossible to have a restful sleep. - The flipflops of my partner were at the room and dissappeared, we are sure non of the other guests took them. When we asked the staff, they only said they aren't in the lost stuff boxes.

Scam. I made a booking online and payed for the room completely. When I checked in they demanded a mandatory charge for “bed sheets”. That is a scummy practice and this business should not be supported. Not to mention the facilities are absolutely horrendous

HORRIBLE. Stay as far away as you can from this hostel! Total false advertisement. They say they have a kitchen but they don't. They say they have a lounge and TV room but they don't. They say they have internet but it doesn't work. And when I complained they simply washed their hands by saying that it's my device's fault! Ridiculous! I've never had such a problem in all of the hostels I've stayed. The internet of the restaurant next door worked better than their own! The bathroom was dirty and the bedsheets they gave me were full of hair. The window of the room was broken, it didn't close. I complained but they only fixed it partially, it still didn't close properly (during winter!). When I saw my bed, there were drugs on it! No wonder the place was totally empty, just me and a few drug addicts. I tried getting my money back but they refused. This hostel is a scam. The manager accused me of making things up just to get my money back. Absurd. I hope they go bankrupt.

The location of the hostel is quite good. However, the prices are far too high for the services. The service is extremely poor. The actual guest kitchen is permanently locked and you are shamelessly insulted if you use the camping gas stove in the lounge. The sanitary facilities are absolutely filthy. All corridors, floors and lounge areas are also very dirty. Faucets and lights are broken. It costs money to temporarily store your luggage in the hostel after checkout. Bed linen costs extra and you have to make and remove the bed yourself.

Phew... If you have no other place to sleep, it's ok. And if you don't want to spend any money if possible. But unless you're in dire straits, I wouldn't recommend it. I like upcycling, but everything here seems like someone has thought about it: how can we get the most profit out of an apartment that needs renovation? Oh yes, let's put some furniture in from the bulky waste and turn it into a "casual" hotel/hostel with Kreuzberg charm! So yes, there is some charm to it when everything is a bit old and worn out. But here it seems somehow loveless and just a ploy to get some money out of the last shack. By the way, the photos are from the toilet of a private room = across the hall, shared with another room. The shower looked similarly dirty and uncaring. The room was at least good, although there were some stains. Reception only speaks English, payment is only possible in cash, and if you want a receipt you should write an email to etxra. As I said, okay for an emergency overnight stay and people without demands or a lot of money, but kind of sad for everything else. If you want to have a nice time in Berlin and can spend a little more money, I would recommend staying somewhere else.

Really bad! I almost couldn't close my eyes because people were drinking in the room next door and it was extremely loud. The door could have been open and it wouldn't have made any difference to the volume. Everything was very dirty and run down.

WORST HOSTEL I have ever been to in my life!! We booked for 2 nights and the room we got was just disgusting. There was hair everywhere on the matress, bathrooms were dirty and had no toilet paper, no lockers were empty. We argued with the receptionist for false advertisement and asked to either change our room or give us refund. Her behaviour was not nice and she even told us at some point : "it is just a hostel, not a hotel." I have to say we were shocked. They eventually changed our rooms but our overall experience is really really bad.

I booked a private room which was reasonably priced for the time of year. The bed was comfortable and the room was spacious. The building has a lot of character, I loved the solid wood floors, the huge wooden doors and the green colour scheme. An old building is noisy though so keep this in mind if you're a light sleeper. I could hear everyone climbing the stairs. The window in my room could be opened fully and did a very good job of cutting out noise from the garden below when shut. The toilets and showers we're not very clean though. This is important to me. It is hard to maintain clean toilets in a hostel I know but I got the impression that the private toilet on my floor wasn't cleaned much at all. On the last day there was no hot water for a shower. The staff were friendly and helpful and the reception area looks great. You can buy drinks from the fridge and there are stores and restaurants nearby. It is very close to U3 and U1 so this makes getting around very easy.

Would never stay here again. The bathrooms are cheap and dirty, took multiple requests to the Russian receptionists for them to add more toilet paper - they were surprised I was even asking! Place as a whole looks like it is falling apart...

Very cozy private rooms with great views to a patio. The bathrooms and the showers are in perfect condition. It is typically very busy so reservations are encouraged. Just 3 minutes walk from public transport and tons of good restaurants and cafés around.

I would appreciate that the receptionist would be able to speak German or English. The one I encountered was, with all due respect, only able to speak Turkish and did no effort to hide the amount of effort it took to walk twice to a storage room on the other side of the building. This did not really feel me very welcomed. The location is great but the beds and facilities could do with an upgrade. The day before my checkout I rang the hostel to arrange a late check-out at 1 PM. A man answered the phone and mentioned it would cost 4 euro's and I agreed to it. The next morning, around normal check-out time, the lady from the reception comes barging into my room... Also, they forgot to extend the time on my room pass so I found myself locked outside my room. Overall, you can feel that there is no real passionate hospitality at play.

The Room was dirty and the bed not comfortable at all. The bathrooms were not clean and we didn't feel safe (the door wouldn't close all the way). There are nails in the floor so i had to wear shoes in my room (i stepped in one and hurt myself). Wifi is slow and the Hostel is creepy. If you want to have a good time in Berlin stay somewhere else.

Very rude management, was super condescending after they moved all my things to another room(lost some items) while I was gone and neglected to tell me they did this. Was very mysogynistic and then laughed with his friend while yelling at me in German. Not the vibe.

Loook I can see why this place could be okay to stay in for a few nights but unfortunately this was not the case for us.. day of check in was chill, room smelt abit rotten and there where some questionable marks on the sheets and pillows but bed where hella comfortable… 😝🪷💄loved the stench of the bathrooms, loved the mould in the showers even more. Great airflow in the rooms, powerful heaters, ominous lighting - a perfect combo for meth use which our roommates certainly took advantage of! (Reception are super carefree and welcoming to all) Perfect for adrenaline junkies or horror fans but on a serious note had a pretty intense night w our bunk buddies w not much sleep… would encourage young travellers to book the larger rooms not the 4 person mixed dorm… or just avoid

Exactly what you'd expect from a hostel that's rated around 3 stars. The room was fine. I mean, the pillows were way too big and the curtains let in a bunch of sunlight, but it was clean and somewhat spacious. I booked a private double room, but the bathroom for only guests in private rooms apparently had a broken lock though, so despite paying for it, I had to use the communal bathrooms. I don't know if the private one would've been any different, but the communal bathroom constantly had a wet floor and no paper towels for hands. Honestly, this review probably would've been 2 stars if it wasn't for the receptionist who checked me in. We had an awesome chat about MMA and he was really helpful

The WORST hostel. Avoid it and book a normal hotel for same price. We booked a big group for 2020 but due to pandemic the students couldn't go. We tried to find a solution with director but he is so unprofessional, screaming in the phone always and hang up the phone. We are sent like 30 emails and letter already and they do not react .We keep asking for voucher or refund for our client as the amount paid is around 4000 eur but with no succes. THE service and staff are so CHEAP.

Really not great.. if you have other stay choices, consider them. The room was not handed in properly cleaned.. dusty on the corners, unknown stains in the duvet.. not very appealing. Toilets don’t smell well either, floors are always wet? Take into account there is no kitchen, so for longer stays it doesn’t work off well. The service is not great, there is no much staff around. Only good thing: location

Spend there two nights. My feet were BITTEN BY BED BUGS. The bed was ok, but far from something very comfortable. The room's walls had a perfect acoustic resonance for hard walkers on the corridor at night. So it was noisy. The door to our room was damaged. If anyone would want to enter the room by force, it wouldn't be very difficult. The shower doors was damaged. It's easy to believe that EVERY BAD OPINION is TRUE.

Maybe they're german? Oh wait no they're just mean. Was my first time in Berlin, first time in Germany, im french & English but unfortunately don't speak german.. it was quickly apparent the locals don't appreciate this. There was a strike so getting from the airport to the hotel was an ordeal to say the least... we finally get there at 10pm an hour before check in closes & all we got from the receptionist was eye rolls, snarky comments and entirely unhelpful customer service. I've never had someone be so rude. After asking where the nearest atm would be we got told to google it and were sent on our way. The receptionist continued being rude as she took our cash & didnt give my friend a bedsheet but closed the reception before 11pm wo my friend had to sleep without a sheet. We also paid for a 4 person dorm but were given an 8 person... The rooms were beyond loud.. any movement made meant creaks and squeaks. Had to sleep w headphones on in the end. If it hadn't been my birthday & we werent due to meet people that night, or knowing berlin a little more like i do now, id have refused to pay & gone to a hostel for like minded travellers as opposed to a refuge for people who on the most part need medical attention... anyway we lasted a whole 4 nights in that hostel but admittedly spent 2 of these with some friends we made who let us stay in their airbnb. All in all dirty place- no soap in the bathrooms & no security whatsoever but if you need a bed & don't have too much stuff the locations alright. Just be warned you'll feel like you're in an episode of blackmirror & be on high alert...

We came home to our door being smashed in and someone sleeping in our room. The door was seriously broken and wouldn't shut or lock so we asked for another room which they didn't have. We had to wait 4 hours for someone to fix our door. At 8pm the door was still not fixed so we left our valuables at the reception so we could go out. This also meant we had to be back by 11pm to get our valuables because that's when reception shuts. So we didn't have much of a last night in Berlin. We had paid for 10 days and asked for a refund for the last day but they refused. We were on the fourth floor. The stairs were brutal. More like climbing 6 flights of stairs. We never came back to our room during the day because the walk up the stairs was too much. They have an elevator but they don't allow guests to use it. Carrying the luggage was really hard. Bad internet. Often didn't work on our level.

It's a pity that we didn't read the reviews before booking. We arrived today after 10 hours of riding just to get told that our booking was just CANCELED......! The guy at the reception wasn't helpful at all. We found ourselves somewhere in Berlin close to the evening struggling to find something last minute and having to pay a lot of money to have a place to stay in the end.

Was just ok!! I thought the place was a bit rundown and dilapidated, particularly the male bathroom (with the old showers containing black mould around the silicone, grafitti loo's and general ghetto vibe throughout) .... but, the bedrooms were alright and served the purpose (again, just a little dank and cold). One thing; I found it frustrating that I couldn't brush my teeth without the light going off multiple times, let alone try to shower or take a poo; I know there is a so-called energy crisis in the works but basic rights should be reflected in the price we pay as guests - at the very least. Had a few issues with room mates talking and snoring at all hours but I'm learning mutual respect is an expectation and not necessarily a lived reality! This was not the hostels fault but it would be great if some discrimination could be made to isolate those who snore loudly - if clubs can refuse entry based on subtle clothing and appearances then I think this would be fair. I would consider staying here again but only if I'm desperate and have nowhere else to go. I liked the rustic flooring, it reminds me of a cosy flat I used to live in =]

One of the best hostels. It's not really convenient if you are working all day, because the reception closes at 11pm and if you want a hair dryer or a new towel or whatever you have to go between 10 am and 11pm, which was impossible for me.

The male receptionist was intimidating, aggressive and rude toward me. I was pressured to offer my phone as ransom as I was unable to offer cash due to losing my bank card (was unaware I couldn’t pay online). This was unclear on the booking platform I used. I was offered the solution to keep my phone locked in the office until I could come up with 50 euro cash at 1.30am. He said I would not get my phone back until I could come up with the money. (Solo female traveller, I was unwilling to offer my phone as a ransom). This or gold and silver jewellery, would you give a stranger your phone, or a precious gold necklace for a 30 euro hostel? This was my option or sleep on the streets. The man intimidated demeaned me and frankly pushed me to the verge of a panic attack alone on the streets. I had the money to pay just was unable to offer cash at 1.30am. He Watched me cry for 1 hour until,I managed to get him to allow me to book online and pay online for two nights in advance. I was then was asked to pay 50 euro cash the next day on top of this. I was glad a solution was worked out, but I was fearful and afraid of this man. The night climaxed in having a 60 year old patron of the hostel lear & touch my leg while I cried in the reception trying to figure out a solution. I would not recommend this place for women or anyone for that matter. This man made me feel unsafe , afraid and intimated. This man should not be in customer service. Hostel was in a dirty, disgusting condition. Frankly the worst hostel I have ever stayed, I felt incredibly unsafe. My card didn’t work for my room most of the time. Other women reported sexual harassment too me at this hostel. Do not stay there.

Hostel good for one night. Not the best quality but reasonably clean. I’d recommend to take your own locker, to lock the luggage. Rent of locker costs 3 euros. Although hostel offers good quality/price offer, the neighbourhood doesn’t seem to be 100 percent secure (nothing bad happened to me, I’ve just seen some strange things).

Good receptionist for sure 😊 Old building, not always quite by the night, dirty toilets and bunch scratches everywhere. I should say not the worse place , but it needs right hands 🤗

Clean. Very basic. Towels, soap, shampoo, hairdryer not included. Rooms are very small, just a bed, a dressing table and a chair. Private bathroom in means a bathroom in the corridorn - where you're by yourself - but not a bathroom just for you, that would be adjoined to your room. No kitchen area available for guests since the pandemics (so you can't make any tea/coffee before leaving). For this price (almost 70 EUR for night) I'd expect a better standard. Location is convenient but still you'll need to use public transportation to get to the city center.

We didn't got to stay here, but I can tell you the service when you call the hostel is awful. I had the same question for different hostels and I can tell St. Christopher's Inn, One80° hostel, Circus Hostel, ... they were all responding and helping me out in such a friendly way. But the person I had at the telephone for this hostel, was just inpolite and unfriendly. For privacy reasons I will not mention the person's name, but please 36Rooms Hostel... Make sure your personnel is treating potential customers in a friendly manner.

Our double room was clean, the bedding was spotless and the women's shared shower and toilets were also extremely clean. The bed was possibly the comfiest bed I've ever slept in. Yes, it's very basic but you get what you pay for.

The night receptionist was really friendly. There is only your room and bathroom. No kitchen or hang out area. The male bathroom’s floor is always wet and isn’t that clean. The key card to access the room stopped working every day, so I would to have it reprogrammed at the reception. This is annoying when reception closes at 11 pm, so you have to expect others in your room to open the door. Stay here if you want to just sleep and shower.

DO NOT STAY HERE unless you want an interactive horror movie experience. The inside of the building itself looks like its the last standing thing in the apocalypse. The walls havent been painted in years, there is no working lift, the chandelier is holding on for dear life by one wire, the entire building is dark and damp and most of the guests are homeless people and users who openly use in the bathrooms - it is not a hostel! We were two young girls who faced constant sexual harrassment. We were made to feel so unsafe here, we had to leave after the first night and stay elsewhere. The receptionist was completely dismissive of our concerns when we went to her for help and said "we have no control over who makes a reservation" when she clearly made a walk in reservation with a man with a bloody face 5 minutes before who was put in our room and said disgusting things at us. I don't even know why she tried to make excuses for this pathetic business, shes clearly not getting paid enough and has an awful time at work. Couldnt even talk to a manager to help us with the situation. Not much phases me and I'm well travelled but I've never felt so unsafe and uncomfortable in a place before. This place needs to burn down. They will steal your money and trap you inside this drug den of a "hostel". Stay away

Everything was dirty. The whole hostel smelled like cigarettes and just rot. The toilets were dirty and were only ROUGHLY cleaned twice a day. The room couldn't be locked, which made us feel very unsafe. All in all, I would never go there again nor would I recommend it to anyone.
