I was surprised at how nice and modern this hotel was for the price. It was basically what I have come to expect from any large chain of hotels in big cities. Huge lobby with a fancy bar and lounge area, multiple elevators. I thought I had walked into the wrong place at first because it was so nice. Very close to the metro and the trolley so you can get anywhere fast. Walking distance to the big Puppy, a very nice park and great food. I'd stay again.

For the price that you are paying the hotel was great value....its a three star hotel and for what you are paying you can't expect anything more. Great view of the city as I was on 12th floor, sometimes a little noisy even when my room was at the end of the corridor.

I travel for 50% of my life and good hotels are not always the norm. For a 3-star hotel, conveniently placed close to the Intermodal transport system, this hotel could not be better. Functional, efficient and brilliant value for money and contemporary rooms that have everything I needed. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Average It’s an OK Hotel. Staff is not very friendly, the rooms have terrible acoustic isolation and in one of the days when I arrived to eat breakfast, even though it wasn’t closing for nearly an hour, it was already empty. The location is good and the room was also not too bad. I was on the 10th floor serviced only by 2 elevators which sometimes were extremely busy. Overall it’s an OK experience.

Helpful staff who were friendly and a great sized room which was very clean and spacious. Nice that they were conscious about playing and water wastage too. Didn’t eat in the hotel but the lobby and restaurant ambiance seemed nice. Great value as we booked as part of a package with our flights. We were very happy with the location and managed to walk almost everywhere that we visited with the exception of a few metro trips. Would come again!

We had a terrible experience. Definitely NOT worth the money. We Got a room with zero privacy. The next building was just a few feet away with windows and a staircase looking directly into our room. We had a pretty embarrassing experience because of this ... I'll let you imagine.... We specially booked a double bed but got two single beds - this was NOT what we were aiming for on a romantic vacation. We paid in advance and they did not agree to move us to another room or refund us. No alternative or compensation was offered. A hostel with strangers in our room would have been a better choice. I added some photos of the veiw from our room.

We had originally booked a premium room, which was apparently facing a very loud club. When we asked for a quiet room, they downgraded us to a clasic, non premium room, which was very poorly maintained (unrenovated for over 10 years) and which appeared to have mold and cleaning problems. Only after we complained about the new room's problems, did the manager tell us about the difference in the rooms and the fact that they don't have premium renovated rooms that don't face the club. If we would've accepted the poorly mainianted room without complaining, we would've essentially gotten a cheaper room than what we've originally booked, without any discount. When we mentioned this, they offered to provide breakfast for free. It was good, since it covered the cost difference between the premium and the classic bad room, but the discount should've came from their end by default.

A decent hotel with reasonable prices. In our case we did not get the room we booked and asked the reception to help us. The third room was finally according to our booking. They were helpful but as a guest you need to be persistent to get what you paid for. We got our room at the front of the building, 3rd floor. The room was spacious and very much to our liking. The bathroom was not updated yet, but was in good shape. Next to the hotel there is a club which causes a lot of noise during the night. The first night they were closed so we had a quiet night. The second night we saw a lot of people on the street and even with windows closed it was very noisy in the room. Breakfast is perfect, no complaints there. Location is good, close to subway, the park, parking and nearby shops and restaurants. The Guggenheim is a 15 min walk through the park. We would stay here again, but ask for a room not located in front of street.

From a 3 stars in Bilbao, I would expect something more. Great location. Room was not well cleaned, moreover it was a quite small room, customer service was not very warm neither useful for info on the city, finally some power outlets were not working. You can go in this hotel and it will be quite ok, but I think they should do definitely something more for their clients.

Checked in late to the hotel and this was not a problem. The room was clean, modern and super spacious. Beds were comfy, room was quiet and there were plenty of plug sockets. There was a kettle in the room with lots of teas and coffees. Breakfast was plentiful though not sensational. It was a nice 15 min walk through the park to the Guggenheim.

This hotel has a lot of positives. Clean, good location, modern & comfortable rooms, great shower in the bathroom, decent breakfast, friendly staff. But this is all worthless if you cannot get a decent night's sleep. Friday and Saturday nights kept awake by the banging of the music from the nightclub next door/same building. And we were on the 6th floor - the bass was thumping the same with the window open as well as when closed. Only on Sunday night did we get decent sleep. A shame because the hotel is great in every other aspect. Would find an alternative option when we return to Bilbao or bring ear plugs.

The hotel is just fine and the location is even more convenient. Breakfast is good, maybe some vegetables would be nice, but overall ok. The biggest inconvenient was the loud music and noises from the middle of the night (Thursday, Friday). I understood that it is from the nearby club, and that is independent by the hotel. Such a shame, because it ruins other positive aspects of the hotel. You can’t be very appreciative with it when you didn’t had a decent sleep.

The location is great, breakfast is ok, Jaír make sure you get there early or there won’t be much to eat. The parking is 22 euros per day. Also the staff is not friendly at all which was my main drawback. Internet was bad at our room.

WiFi was terrible. At a hotel as big as Ilunion I would expect an impeccable connection and speed. Both were not delivered. I could not do the work I planned. When we arrived we did not feel welcome. No greetings, no nice to have you here etc. It was like talking with a robot. The room was okay although we had no views.

I expected better. I lost half a day because they did not have laundry service. We asked kingsize bed, and got 2 seperate beds with windows that look straight into room 5 meter across. So we close curtain all day. People behind desk don't speak english, did not explain anything about the city. Its clean, but that should be considered normal not a speciality. Not coming back.

Friday service, great location. Cons: Very substandard quality inside the room. Underwhelmed.

Modern hotel, conveniently located close to Palacio Euskalduna, a major conference centre. Comfortable beds and quiet rooms on high floors. There is a good selection of bread, cold meats and cheese for breakfast.

We asked for twin beds but got a double. We then separated them but every time the cleaning person would come in he/she would put them back together again When the room was cleaned, they didn't replace the dirty glasses. Instead, they just left them laying there. In the morning, I did not want a full breakfast so I asked for a plain cup of coffee and they charged me 2,10 for that, which was a bit rude. The Wi-Fi is really bad in the evening. I complained about in the front desk but the receptionist made it look like I wasn't logging in correctly. There was a fire drill and the guests were not warned! We were stuck in the elevator and people were coming down the stairs with their belongings for absolutely nothing. There are only two power outlets in the room. No water in the gym. Would chose another place if I'm ever back in Bilbao.

Overall a positive experience. I was staying here 3 nights on the 11th floor, during a conference. The room was spacious, clean, quiet. It is seen that the rooms could use some renovation, but it does not hurt the entire experience. One big advantage in the room - you can actually open the window in a normal way, not only a vertically tilt. Air conditioner worked perfectly. The place has a well maintained small gym, which was a nice surprise. The breakfast is very good, with variety of food and paistress, but the vegetables were missing - its just not on the menu. The point to improve in - ironing. You can borrow the iron from a housekeeping, but it comes with a small, not very comfortable or useful board. Or with no board at all. There is also no paid ironing service as I was told by the front desk. The hotel is located close to the stadium, public transport and vibrant area with restaurants, shops and culture - good accessibility to almost everywhere.

Modernly decorated, clean and very spacious rooms. In the room I had a large TV, a fridge (the size of a mini bar, but you fill it yourself) and an air conditioner. The bathrooms are neat and also spacious. The bathroom had a bathtub with a shower, a bidet, a large mirror, a large sink and a hair dryer. The view is not memorable because it looks at the building across the street, but from that aspect it is difficult to expect more from a hotel in the city center

Super comfortable bed and very friendly service, gym could be a little bit better (more weights) but overall I really enjoyed staying there!

Worst experience ever. Insects on the bed and bathroom and when I showed the lady at the front desk photos she had zero empathy and said it’s normal to have insects (???) and compared being in the hotel to being in my home. Please don’t make the same mistake I made. Avoid this hotel, a hostal would be better than here.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Ilunion which is very central. The only area that disappointed us was the male staff member that met us each morning as we went for breakfast. Indifferent manner, unfriendly and no English. First morning we gave our room number and he just answered No.... we tried again , there is not many ways to say Room 1003 and each time No... As there was people waiting behind us it became embarrassing so we then answered YES... to his NO... and pointed to his check sheet. So we all had to go to reception to seek clarification before we were allowed to have breakfast. Once "Mil Tres" was clarified he just walked off, no apology and no eye contact from that point on. A simple case of the wrong person in the wrong job for first point of contact with guests in the restaurant. The cleaners looking after our room all had English and appreciated our small effort to ask a question in our tourist Spanish. My wife felt this person is a family member which has given a job but he would be more suited working in an area where he does not have to communicate with the Hotel guests.

Very clean and nice room. Everything worked properly. 3 stops with subway to the old town 3 stops with tram to guggenheim. Many nice restaurants in walking distance. Breakfast is nicely done, eventhough I would prefer some more choices or changes. Scrambled eggs were not really warm, the selection of meat was often empty. Parking is availble with some luck. In our case it wasn't, BUT there is a public parking place around the corner that is even cheaper then the hotel 😉

Highly recommendable. Spacious room, good service, free welcome drinks which I appreciate with the heat, nice chilling communal area in front of reception.... We booked the hotel because the fitness seemed really good, and ultimately did not go 😅. There are too many activities to do in the city and different pintxos to try.

Good hotel in a good location, about 30' to the old town. The rooms and the bathroom are large and spacious. Beds and pillows very comfortable. Everything was very clean. You can hear people on the street from the bar, especially on weekends late at night until early in the morning. The breakfast was good. We missed fresh vegetables. The check-in was quick, the only thing that bothered me a little was the very impersonal greeting and farewell at the front desk, no smile, no feeling of welcome, very distant.

Great hotel and service. Room view is from 1305 (top floor)

Excellent hotel, spotlessly clean. Room very comfortable with everything we needed. Only one niggle, the restaurant and bar, very sterile, no actual bar.

The first nights were absolutely fine, reception desk was friendly and the room clean and spacious. It's close to Guggenheim, the Conference Center, the airport bus stop, restaurants and shops. Breakfast is fine. On Thursday, the disco club next door opened and kept me awake all night with their music/bass. The next morning, after complaining, the reception nicely offered me a room on a higher floor. No noise there, but that room was old and smelly. So, a nice hotel to stay during weekdays but I would not recommend on weekends.

Very well located. Delightfully, well design 3 stars urban hotel. Spacious rooms, comfortable bed system, well isolated, extraordinary work desk and very powerful common areas that simplify your stay and provides you a good money for value proposal.

The room was really nice, big and bright! We had enough space for both of us and the washroom was really good as well. The room was also clean and the beds were really comfortable. Unfortunately, the wifi didn't work very well but this would be the only thing to improve from the hotel side.

The room was spacious and clean with a good shower. We would like a kettle and some tea and coffee. Plus a more cheerful receptionist on arrival. The access to parking was difficult.

Very convenient location of the hotel in the city. Friendly hotel staff will help you with everything, the hotel rooms are comfortable and clean. All the necessary accessories are in the rooms. Thank you very much Illunion hotel family!!!!

Rooms were very comfortable and clean. Ambience of the hotel lobby is very good. The best part was they had kept cool water with mint in the lobby during this unbearable heat. Location is pretty good. They have a parking facility too. Overall a good place

Nice hotel, clean inside. It might need soon some update to furnishings and bathrooms. It is located near the stadium, not really central. To get to nice places you need to walk 10 to 20 minutes in the main street, I still would book again to go there.

  • 1/5 Russell W. 1 year ago on Google
Very very loud dance club next door music and shouting through the night until 5am. Bed like cardboard. DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU WANT TO SLEEP!!… Cleanliness also not good, nail clippings still in sink and hair in shower from previous occupant. Breakfast good with lots of choice, gym OK too but being here on business I need to sleep which was impossible…

Very nice hotel, clean tidy and good services. Good location from the airport (15 mins) and a short casual stroll into the town. WiFi was good and breakfast had a nice selection. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Towel had brown stains on them and there was a toilet paper wad on the shower wall. Breakfast isn’t included and was a whopping €20 which wasn’t worth it- machine coffee that paled in comparison to the €2.90 cafe con leche and 1/2 sándwich right next door. Their €20 breakfast had runny, brown eggs. Nothing special. The breakfast upcharge was a surprise at checkout- they weren’t clear that breakfast wasn’t included. I’m thankful I didn’t eat the 2nd morning. This hotel is trying to be a lot nicer than it is. It has a good location. I was hoping that the front desk would comp a breakfast since the bathroom was sueño.

We had really nice stay at Hotel Ilunion Bilbao. The crew was very friendly and helpful. They have tasty, simple breakfasts, but we missed vegetables ;) I rate the perfect location and clean rooms the highest.
