Blue Bilbao

Hotel

🫤 Location is good. A bit hard to find since there is not a sign with the name outside. A bit disappointed since it on Booking.com said they served breakfast wich they don't. People often mention room, hotel, location, Bilbao, town, great, clean, helpful,

The service at the Blue Bilbao is beyond anything I've ever experienced. When our bags were delayed, the couple who runs the hotel literally gave us their clothes to wear. They also spent hours helping us navigate the bureaucratic nightmare of getting our bags and reserving bus tickets. The hotel itself is in the lovely Casco Viejo, with many restaurants and shops nearby. It is also super close to the Casco Viejo metro stop. All at a very reasonable price!

Excellent hotel, very convenient location, the hotel is located in the old town in an ancient building, they provided an even larger room, which we ordered. The only thing we were missing was shampoo and slippers.

Hyvällä paikalla vanhassa kaupungissa. ympärillä lukemattomia ruokapaikkoja. Täällähän on ongelma kun siestan aikana moni sulkee ovet muutamaksi tunniksi. ( ruokailu) Tässä ei respaa. Saat watsuppina ovi koodit ja homma pelasi. Lähellä samaan hotellin kuuluva casual gurea hotelli jonne voi jättää mm matkatavarat yms Tuuletin toimi hyvin kun ymmärsi kaukosäätimen tekniikan. Huone siivottiin joka päivä Pieni ranskalainen parveke, yöksi olisi hyvä pitää auki. Ainakin aamulla " siivouspartion" melu herätti sulkemaan oven.

Although the hotel does not have a reception, registering is straight forward, just send a photograph of your passport. You will be sent a code when your room is ready and away you go. Also the reception at a sister hotel, located 100m away is open 24 hours if you experience any problems. Also you can leave luggage there, if you are too early for check in and on check out. The location is great and the building has great character. The room we had was a bit noisy but given the location, it’s to be expected. Location is the big plus, right around tomorrow in the middle of the historic quarter with great bars, restaurants and cafés and a 3 minute walk to the metro. Word of warning; no air conditioning (anyway I hate air conditioning) but not so sure if the ceiling fan would suffice in temps in excess of 30 degrees C, it was fine for me in the high 20s. Little expensive though.

So, first things first, this hotel does not come with a staffed reception, so you will need to check in and pay online and get an access code via WhatsApp. There is a manned reception in the sister hotel 100m down the road. In saying this, check in and access was mostly seamless, there was an issue with our access code at the front door, but this was resolved via text message within 5 minutes. We stayed in a family room and found the room a decent size, clean and well laid out. No issues with the bathroom either, and it was lovely to have a little glazed balcony overlooking the old town street to relax on while watching the world go by. There is no air conditioning, but there is a small ceiling fan and a mobile fan provided to assist with air flow. In saying this, on hot days/nights it could get a little toasty. The shared kitchen is also a nice touch, we only used the fridge, but we could have used to to make ourselves breakfast. Tea/coffee facilities are a little basic, but are there. We also made use of the partnership with the local car park to avail of a 10% discount, this needed to be got at the staffed sister hotel All in all, I am happy to recommend Casual Blue Bilbao and if we visit Bilbao again in the future, would not hesitate making a repeat reservation.

We liked the hotel, the location is excellent, in the center of the old town. The room was clean, they cleaned it daily. There was a mini kitchen with everything you needed. Unfortunately there are no disposable slippers in the room. It would be nice if they also put shampoo for hair in the bathroom.

I'm giving it overall only one star because I believe that the most important task for any accomodation is to provide your guests the place to sleep peacefully. Unfortunately, Casual Blue did not do it for me. Location - 8/10: it's pretty central. It's located in the nice old building with beautiful entrance and authentic hallway. Service - have no idea, didn't see a person from the hotel in here. We only have a chat in messenger when it's turned out guests need to be checked in online beforehand, to get a code to get into the building and the room. Rooms (our was 105) - 2/10: it's extremely stuffy, it's literally hard to breathe when entering. To make it bearable you will have to open the window and/or turn on the fan (not conditioning, fan). Bed - 5/10: just ok, mattress is too soft on my taste (when it's more than +30 and you only have a fan, soft mattresses are not the best choice) Equipment - 5/10: kettle and fan in the room. Hairdryer is good. Toilet seems to be very fragile, the way that one cannot throw there toilet paper, otherwise it's a fine of 200 euro. There is a safe, a TV. Cleanliness - 6/10: it's ok, except the door to the toilet is a bit greasy, some dirty corners and the towel with an old stain. Room was cleaned every day. Sleep quality - 2/10: curtains will partially save you from the lights from the patio, but from the green lantern over your door (fire alarm?) and the lights behind the door - no. Every time someone is walking outside - lights are turning on and blinking under the door. If you can't sleep with noise present - you shall not. Firstly, you will listen to your fan, if it's too anointing - turn it off and relax on the waves of soulful karaoke nearby (or was it a concert?) at 1.30 a.m. And also guests from neighbouring rooms come and go. Don't forget it's still stuffy, especially after fan was turned off. No, you cannot close the window, you will suffocate.

Fantastic accommodation in the heart of the old town. Convenient, comfortable, clean! Price / performance agree to 100%! Both the old town around the cathedral and the modern side of Bilbao are within walking distance. A public underground car park is a 5-minute walk away.

My family of 4 (2 adults, 2 teens) stayed here. Easy walk (10 min or less) to the main train station and smaller regional train stations. Clean and comfortable. Common eating area with refrigerator/microwave so we could have simple meals/breakfast at the apartment. Very helpful/knowledgeable staff at check in helped us with figuring out how to navigate public transportation options. Would stay again.

Very helpful hosts and the room and location was extremely clean. It was very quiet as well and the bed was super comfy. The shower had hot water and good pressure. Wifi was a bit spotty but we had sim cards so it didn't bug us. We were able to get a fan as there was no AC, so we were very happy about that! Definitely recommend staying here! Location is amazing and the hosts have excellent recommendations! Just one note, do not leave anything in the communal fridge in the lobby. We left some items in the fridge for breakfast with a note saying not to touch. We were leaving early the next morning and in the morning we realised someone had taken some of our stuff overnight.

Super central location, very comfy rooms. But the best is the host, Pedro was very helpful and friendly. Overall great choice to explore Bilbao!

Its nicely decorated. The rooms are a fine size. The only downside is the walls are a bit thin and the plumbing is a bit on the noisy side. Its a small bore thing which has pumps and a maceration thingy. We were woken quite early one day 5 am by someone else in the place.

Great location in the old town of Bilbao, right off the Plaza Nueva. The hosts were absolutely lovely! So nice and helpful and accommodating! We got by just fine with our broken Spanish. Breakfast in the morning was toast with butter and delicious jams, yogurt, and homemade pound cake with coffee, tea, and orange juice. Rooms cleaned daily. Room was extremely quiet. Definitely would stay here again!

Very helpful lovely host and hostess. We had our bikes with us and they gave us a single room to store our bikes. Highly recommend this place. Basic breakfast but enough for what you need in the morning

Lovely host & hostess, brilliant location, very friendly and helpful, gave us some excellent recommendations, and the room was cleaned to a glowing level everyday. We had a little balcony looking over the cobbled streets while we enjoyed a glass of the local red wine which they opened and supplied us with glasses. Would highly recommend, and I sure would be staying here again in the future.
