Was glad to see an African restaurant to try out my home dishes. The space was minimally decorated, it had some lights and a DJ playing African Music which I loved. We placed our orders and had to wait for almost 50minutes. We order the fried rice/chicken and the Boewers Sandza with salad or Veg. The food was not so tasty the veg used to prepare the Sandza was not the right one and it was really watery and the Sandza has lumps and it was too hard. The fried rice was not spicy at all but the chicken was manageable. In all it was an okay experience.

I should have Read the reviews first before ordering, and seen that there’s a reason why they don’t have flying reviews. First and last time I will come to this restaurant. The customer service is poor…. Won’t be returning my business to these people. Managements customer service is poor too and the staff are unprofessional. I will take my business where it is appreciate. Good luck to this company surviving in this competitive market with their attitude.

If I had seen the reviews here before going to the restaurant , I don't think I would have wasted my precious time going there. I'm supposed to give this restaurant a zero rating if there is one. A very dirty smelly place, especially the smell of the toilet was just everywhere. In fact everything is just wrong about the place.. I ordered for pepper soup today I was given meat broth instead which was even tasteless and unpalatable, I nearly puked... I couldn't eat it, even the edikakoing soup my wife ordered was nothing to write home about as the food was tasteless and sandy. Wasted my hard earned money and time😠. How I wish there was Enish restaurants around us, I would have been very much happy as it's still the best African restaurant I've been to. Please African village you guys need to do something about everything in your facility.

This place is dirty, the service is appalling, the waiter attitudes rude. The place is crowded with drunk people and unsafe looking people. This was my experience 4 years ago at Perry barr and I made the Mistake of going there again today at their lozells address and it’s the same disgusting service, dirty restaurants and drugged up looking people. Food takes 1 hr to arrive. Really bad experience everytime. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!

I was under the impression they open 2pm so wouldn't have to wait long for food, waited over an hour after pre-ordering, on arrival there was a terrible smell, somewhat like a bin/off food. After getting the food the whole bag smelt of the same smell was looking forward to trying new food was not a good experience . I ordered egusi soup, pepper soup, n jollof rice, all of which were disgusting this defo has given Nigerian food a bad name will not b trying again!!!

WORST EXPERIENCE AT A RESTAURANT!!! I have never left a bad review for a restaurant till now…. Was genuinely excited to have my first African experience From the start the waitress was extremely rude didn’t help with any descriptions of dishes, no drinks menu, the food came out 50 minutes after we ordered and was overwhelmingly average. extremely unwelcoming dingy restaurant please save your money.

The fish and plantain is super delicious. It is a place where a hungry man or woman can repeal hunger..

This bar restaurant is very well presented. Some African music is played by a DJ which gives a nice atmosphere. The food was amazing. We had some goat meat kebabs, grilled tilapia with jollof and grilled croaker fish with plantain. My husband was really happy with the portion size. The flavour was really nice and the hot chilli sauce was adding to the flavour. We really recommend.

It's a lovely african restaurant with very nice food. The staff were just good and lovely. Parking only seems a challenge though I quickly found space available near the restaurant because it was already after 6.30pm.

This is a best place for those who are in Birmingham and those who are just visited Birmingham to have a fun, to share good time with family or friends. They used to play several kind of music. I will recommend Fish ( tilapia) and goat 🐐 meat.

A very good atmosphere with a lovely D.J. The management is approachable and polite with words. I was told to have a change of seat which initially I didn't find pleasant but overall I still enjoyed the hrs spent there.

I took my friend from Guinea, we ate at a booth, he ordered the Bitter Leaf soup with Pounded Yam, I had the Attieke, he loved the meal, the same taste as the food from his home country. I enjoyed the music and relaxed atmosphere.

Should have read the reviews before going there. The food is absolute rubbish. Ordered Edikaikong, got Egusi instead. The Egusi was terrible. Zero star if possible.

It's a very cool place, I always want to be there every weekend and it takes me back home with all the local “Nigerian” dishes.

What?! Whatever you do, you must order their grilled goat meat, it’s succulent and delicious. Their swallow portions are big, 1 portion is enough ☺️. The ambiance is very serene. Lovely and polite staff as well. All round awesome!

The food is simply delicious and brought back beautiful memories of my family cooking for me. From start to finish, my meal was a delight. I highly recommend this restaurant/takeout to anyone looking for authentic and flavorful African cuisine. Thank you, African Village, for a memorable meal!

Visited last night. l had missed jollof rice so ordered some, what l got was some sort of rice with tomato colouring , sooooo disappointed, nothing near jollof. the grilled fish was nice. Slow service as well the food took 1 hour 30 minutes. music too loud as well for a restaurant environment. never again will l visit.

Location is a bit awkward now. Parking is very difficult/ not available. I've always enjoyed the menu so nothing bad to add in that respect. Just miss the old location.

Food took over 30 minutes to come, others came, ordered and finished their food before our takeaway was even ready. Was told it was because of the cow foot which I would have cancelled had we been told but were left with no knowledge until we went to cancel then got given our food and the cow leg wasn't cooked properly had to further cook once I got home as it was a takeaway order.

Superb place. Though I called in earlier and my calls weren't answered, i took the huge step of locating the restaurant. Tasted the starter(peppersoup). Spent a little less than 1hr in there. The ambiance was cool and I would like to check in again. Then i can fully recommend.
