Good spacious pub with a quieter bar downstairs. Great selection of beers.

An impressive selection of ales in this pub. I had two different Purity ales, and would recommend that you try a bit before you buy. The bartender's recommendation was spot on regarding his opinion on the better ale. The only disappointment was that cash is not accepted. Quite annoying if you've withdrawn cash earlier.

Beer is fine. Don't go here for food though, terrible. They basically have no veggie options. Edit - dropped my review down because of their response. They have one vegetarian meal. Chips don't count as a vegetarian meal.

A very nice and spacious interior. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Beer was decent if on the expensive side. The food was a complete let down unfortunately. At the prices advertised I was expecting something special, but I was very disappointed with the texture and taste.

Cold coffee anyone! Purity Brewing: Rixie Nitro Stout, 5.5%. This bar has something for everyone, unless you're a non-drinker and should stay indoors, drinking your filtered water. PureCraft = PureBrewing. Probably about 20 beers available here, so don't be greedy.....pace yourself!

Gets the combination of doing food and beer right. Make sure you get their pork scratchings, quality. Had just gone in for beers and scratchings but the food looked and smelled very good so shared a schnitzel and chips. It was top notch. Go in regularly for beers but will make sure I eat again. Service was excellent as well.

Excellent selection of a wide range of beers, each with labels as to which is vegan and/or gluten free. I was able to talk to the very knowledgeable staff and really pinpoint which drink was right for me. It's not the cheapest place to drink, but if you're into craft beer this is not new to you. The only real downside was that I was quite cold. Possibly because it was quieter than usual. I did not order food so cannot comment in this regard.

Couldn’t decide where to go to decompress after a long week and walked past this place so decided to give it a try. The beer selection was phenomenal and we were very happy with the choices we made. The staff were friendly and I love the atmosphere - not too rowdy and you are able to talk normally without having to shout at one another. The food was ok. Was definitely impressed with the runny yolk in the scotch egg but to be honest, if I wasn’t told that it’s duck, I’d never have been able to tell. It was like any other meat and for the price, I kind of expected it to be a little better. However, a good bar snack nonetheless to go with a couple of good pints.

Always a great Sunday dinner. Purity gold was amazing. Nice and quiet for a Sunday chill. Food was spot on. Fish may have been a bit smaller than expected but still full of flavour. Really nice of the friendly team to let us take our bikes in whilst we dined.

Great selection of beer. I did not try the food but looked nice. The venue needs to add some acoustics absorption panels to reduce the level of background noise. Like many bars with industrial decor, the level of noise becomes too high long before maximum capacity is reached.

Excellent beer and food! Full range of their own beers and a few guest beers. I enjoyed all four I tried (a half and three thirds): a perfect West Coast IPA called Longhorn, low-alcohol Bunny Hop cask pale ale, Mad Goose cask pale ale and for dessert, the Fixie Nitro stout. The crispy tofu burger is great (better than a BeyondMeat patty for vegan option!) and so is the charred garlicky broccoli (better than fries!). Good service, good food, good beer.

This was my second visit, this time for pre theatre food and drink. My wife was not very hungry so only had a scotch egg whilst I had the very tasty cheeseburger with some mega battered onion rings .I had two pints of Purity Ubu which is a really nice drink. The pub is just off Colmore Row in Birmingham and is well worth a visit.

Great choice of beers and the food is perfect to accompany a couple of beers on an afternoon. Food is a little pricey, but not out of the range of local restaurants in this area. I am however, really hoping they bring back the normal scotch eggs they used to have on the menu, currently they only have a venison scotch egg which is a little too rich for my taste (and pretty expensive at £9.50 for a 'small plate' menu item. I tried the Catharina Peach Melba which is slightly sour and was perfect for a sunny afternoon! It can get a little busy here on the weekends, however there is plenty of seating upstairs and downstairs.

Many beer choices. Really good ones! It could be more beautifully firnished and decorated to create a cosy and warm environment.

This place should have a higher score but there is just something about the atmosphere. It's a bit austere and cold. The seating doesn't help. The beers themselves are fine. Price is ok for town as well. Sub £6 for most of the selection. Food, especially the bar snacks are delicious but on the expensive side for what you get. The whole pork pie and scotch egg needs a little refresh as well but do taste great.

Enjoyed my time there. Haven't tried the food yet but I will be going back to check it out. Overall, the beer was good. Didn't know what I wanted by the bar staff let me test a few to find the perfect pint. It was a little more expensive than other places but I enjoyed my stay...

Grade A food, seriously good beer and friendly service is on the menu here. I will for sure be coming back at some point. It's obvious that the attention to detail in there service is a focus here. The food is exceptionally well presented and equally as well seasoned. What a delight!

  • 5/5 Matthew J. 4 years ago on Google

Visited here on our first foray back into Birmingham for about a year and a half.. This was our final call before returning to New Street Station to get our train back. What a place, one of those places where you walk in and think we should have come here earlier and its such a pity we have already eaten.. A good selection of ales mainly from Purity Brewing but other interesting beers too.. Unfortunately we only had time to try a couple of halves and some scratchings and Salted Almonds.. Beer and snacks were awesome and staff incredibly friendly. Menu looked good too. Time here all too brief as we had to head off to the train.. but we shall definitely be back here and spend more time.

A pretty cool place, and just a short walk from Victoria Square. A good selection of beers with descriptions to help you select one you might fancy trying. Noticed that they didn't take cash. Although food was being served I didn't look at the menu but it appeared quite decent.

  • 5/5 Tony 5 months ago on Google
Great range of drinks, although it would be good to have more variety if soft drinks. Food was really nice to include gluten free options as my wife is a coeliac. Service was very good and prices were okay given it was in Birmingham. City centre. Overall a great experience, definitely would recommend.

Great selection of Purity craft beer to sample, tasting flights available and some guest beers on tap too. Food is delicious, which makes for a good evening out.

  • 5/5 Andy M. 5 months ago on Google
Great range of beer here, absolutely no shortage of choice. Bar snacks were nice too. Friendly and welcoming staff as well. Would happily return. Good selection of gluten free beers if that's your bag, and nice to see an alcohol free option on tap.

  • 5/5 Matt E. 10 months ago on Google
Great food and selection of Purity and guest beers. The service was spot-on, too, with attentive and helpful staff. It was a bit tricky to access due to the construction works outside, but that's not the venues fault and will hopefully be resolved soon.

Clicked straight away with this place, a modern urban pub with one of the best locations in the city. It’s not easy to create somewhere with both mass appeal and credibility but they’ve nailed it here. This solo drinker with an hour to kill appreciated the wifi password on clear display given the dismal mobile signal on this street corner, one of many touches suggesting an attention to detail other bars lack.

  • 2/5 Matthew R. 1 year ago on Google
We first came here in 2014 and the size of the food portions has decreased dramatically since then. The iconic scotch egg for £8 was definitely smaller (and the egg was undercooked with runny egg white) and the presentation was also a let down. My burger was the biggest disappointment though - would you pay £15 for this? It doesn't even come with fries! We made a two hour trip to Birmingham by train for a celebration lunch - I doubt we'll bother again.

Fairly quite on a Friday afternoon. Good food but very disappointed with the chips did not expect them to be from the oven. Lovely range of beer.

Great find, craft beers and tasty food that goes with it. Had some amazing chicken wings with fries, but I inhaled it before I managed to take a picture. Beers were amazing with a lot of variety, definitely remember a Barbara Streisand.

Not a regular but have been coming here for years. Started before the trend of craft bar pop ups around Birmingham. Used to do interesting and rare talks downstairs but more importantly the craft beer is amazing and very hard to find. Definitely worth the time popping in as the environment is nice and easy. Had a lovely stout here. Plenty of options to drink. Dropped a star because the female bartender had an attitude which baffled me on a Monday early evening.

  • 5/5 Marco R. 1 year ago on Google
Friendly staff, great selection of independent beers, and a super tasty burger and chips. Also no loud music, a rarity in venues nowadays (I guess I'm getting old). I had a great lunch with a friend and I'll definitely come back for more.

We dined here and enjoyed good food, timely table service and an impressively wide choice of lagers and ales. Attentive (and good looking!) barman who was happy to advise, decanter a sample and remember drinks choices. A credit to the establishment. Recommended!

Making money out of Hipsters Okay, I'm 49 but I'm not an old git and always happy to try new places. However, this bar just seems to be hanging on to the Hipster-effect and charging top whack for minimal food and a basic environment. I'm sure there are some people that think a cold, stark concrete bar with various wooden seats and worn-out floors is trendy, which is why I'm sure they get away with charging what they do. So, to be fair, we didn't eat, but the food that was coming out was quite small, which seems to be the general comments on here. I got my Google Translate app out and found that "Maple Glazed Bacon Ribeye, Mushy Peas, Fried Hens Egg, Fries" translates from Hipster into English as "Ham, Egg, Chips and Peas". Unfortunately the price doesn't translate - it's still £17 ! The bar setup wasn't that great. Although they have a huge selection of beers, the main serving part has a great big black pipe (that all the beer pipes go through) that is just at eye level so you can't see the bartender. Everyone was trying to look under it or over it. Beers were okay but not great; don't get me wrong, I don't mind paying premium if it's worth it, but this place wasn't.

Despite the corporate-ish feel from the outside & a clientele of mainly 'suits', this place has a friendly welcome, a huge list of quality beers, and a food menu that is absolutely spot on! Recommended if you're in the area.

  • 1/5 martin j. 4 years ago on Google
Nothing in a billion years would make me endure this place. Strangely someone asked me about it and I told them what would happen: and it did. 45 minutes to sit at a dirty table. 20 minutes for cold cheese on bad dough. A staff that look as confused as anyone looking for the toilets or their table. It has no future to speak of.

Purecraft Bar & Kitchen in downtown Birmingham is a very stylish, upmarket "pub" close to the must-see Museum & Art Gallery. It is run by Purity Brewery, so expect their full range of real ales - plus many, many guest ales on top. Beer-range wise, this is one of the best places in Birmingham, and they're all very well kept - I sampled three ales, all in perfect condition. Of course, I didn't expect anything less from an establishment that charges you UKP 6 a pint - a premium outside of London. Also, the food, while very nicely presented, I found only a tad above average and a bit pricey, too. 17 quid for a modestly dimensioned Chicken Kiev, however well presented, is a bit much. The menu itself is nicely small-ish, which is usually a good sign. Typical modern British pub and grill options. The staff though were VERY welcoming indeed, and they let me sample every beer that caught my fancy, and not from a schnapps glass, which you'll normally get for tasters. The Purecraft Bar & Kitchen attracts a hipster-ish crowd, make no mistake about it. If you're fine with that - and the prices - do not hesitate to pay the place a visit. Great for real ale!

  • 5/5 Chrylo 4 years ago on Google
Easy to down the craft ales here, had a ale which tasted like white chocolate. I was very surprised of the taste

  • 4/5 Shaun J. 4 years ago on Google
Very expensive beers but of a high quality so worth it, open plan kitchen so watch the chef cook your lunch, very smart but simple place.

Really nice beer, good service but disappointing vegetarian selection of food. The lentil and cauliflower curry I had was extremely nice but it's a good job because that was the only option
