This is one of the hidden jewels of Edgbaston. The qualitative food combined with the authentic British atmosphere make this restaurant "a must go" if you are looking for a traditional British pub with excellent food. I also recommend a small walk in Edgbaston after lunch as the area is quite nice.

I have drove past this place for years and finally got the chance to visit. What ana absolute hidden gem this place is. Exceptional customer service; The food was a total surprise and it was out of this world. The decor is chic and I definitely want to visit again!

What a wonderful gastropub. We walked in on a busy bank holiday weekend and they found a spot for us. The staff are absolutely lovely, everyone we encountered was friendly, efficient and professional. The menu is varied and has something for everyone. The fish and chips were fantastic. Large crispy golden fries, probably twice fried. Fish batter was light crispy and delicious. Unfortunately the mushy peas were minted which should be a crime against humanity (whoever decided that an overpowering herb like mint works with a delicate sweet vegetable like peas and started this dreadful trend should be shot) but that is the only thing anyone could gripe about and the perfection of everything else on the plate meant you didn't mind leaving the peas. The mixed roast of beef and pork was absolutely fantastic. Beef was cooked to perfection and still pink. Porchetta was flavoursome and delicious. All the sides were delicious. The vegetables were al dente and not the mush you often find with Sunday roasts. Yorkshire pudding was light and delicious. The gravy was a tad on the salty side which makes me think it's based on granules or powder but in the scheme of things that's a minor complaint. Drinks menu is varied with something for everyone and our wee man loved his brownie dessert. We would definitely come back next time we are in Birmingham, a true gem on the outskirts.

Gluten free choices were excellent, however food wasn't very hot. Could have been more to it. Flavours were definitely interesting but nothing to shout from the rooftops about

The Physician is an excellent restaurant that has great service. We were greeted by our hostess/Waitress and brought to our table. The restaurant is inviting with a nice atmosphere. They drink menu is vast with wines, spirits, cocktails and draft beer. Our food was brought out in a timely manner. Pictured is the fish and chips which were fabulous. From all the restaurants I visited in my time in the UK, this place had the best service.

This was an office outing. The service was great, we didn’t have to wait long to get our order. Freshly prepared food and large portions for the mains. Also, good variety for drinks both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. But, very limited vegetarian/vegan options. Nice ambiance. Although a bit pricy. Overall a great experience.

Sunday lunch was fully booked so booked a weekday. Nice interior design. Waiting time for the food to be served was quite long. We were early order but still waited 45 mins for the main course to be served. Food were good so felt alright about it.

Beautiful service, genuine, attentive but not intrusive. The menu is prepared daily. I had the baby squid for starter which was tender and crisp. The fish cake with tomatoes was a delight, served with a fragrant yet punchy pesto sauce. Relaxed atmosphere with a mix of diners and those getting a casual post work catch up. The entrance was floor level without a step, but with push/pull doors so willneed to consider this for access. Accessible loos ground floor. Ladies loos up a flight of stairs, but it's decorated beautifully.

Amazing place! Well-spaced tables. Polite, knowledgeable staff. The food was fantastic and generous portions too.

Lovely place. Really enjoyed our night. Took my wife for a Valentine Day meal and was glad I booked a table here. The staff were really helpful and the food was really good. I was surprised how good the menu was. Lots of different options to choose from. Decor is good ,it's decorated to a high standard and the toilets are very clean. There is a car park located at the back of the pub which is a bonus too. All in all a great night was had and we'll be definitely coming back with other members of the family.

Family wedding meal. Great private room for upto 18 guests. Food delicious and plenty of it. Friendly staff. Lovely atmosphere inside and out.

The staff were all so welcoming, patient and attentive to our large group. We all had a fabulous time on our Christmas meal out - we haven't been able to have one in three years! I loved the festive touches, having our own section and the atmosphere was great too. Thanks again for such a lovely service :)

Wonderful place. We had our family wedding reception meal here. Food was lovely and plenty of it. Staff are very friendly and helpful. We had the private dining room but the whole place has a lovely atmosphere .

Good place to spend your time with your friends or family. The food is very nice and the service is fabulous.

The place is cosy, very well decorated and welcoming. There’s a big selection of drinks and the bar staff is very friendly. Last time I went with friends for a Sunday dinner I was not very impressed, neither the lamb shank nor the turkey roast dinners were up to the standard I’m used to at the physician (we didn’t even get Yorkshire puddings!!, the waitress was not overly friendly either.

Thank you so much for going that extra mile to add extra people to our table. The food was absolutely delicious, we had fast and professional service and the bar and restaurant was very welcoming. We had a great experience can’t wait to visit again soon!

Saturday night out with the family and made even better by quality food and service here. Had 3 excellent courses with wine on a corner table with great service. Would recommend highly for another visit.

Love this place. Took my wife for a Valentine Day meal and had a great night. Couldn't fault anything. The place itself is beautifully decorated inside,it has a touch of class. The food was really good and the service was excellent. Will definitely be back again.

Dinner, March 23; A lovely pub restaurant, clean and comfortable. My burger wasn't great, but I'll definitely return to try another dish. The cauliflower starter was delish! £56 1x cauliflower, 2x burgers, 1 x mini dessert and tea 1x bottle of sparkling water.

Lovely place with a brilliant gluten free menu. They use separate fryers too. Tasty food and friendly staff.

A really nice dining experience every time I visit. The food is always delicious, the staff are attentive and friendly. The building itself has a lot of character as it’s a historic building and every room is warm and inviting.

enjoyed the Sunday roast(pork) and Hot waffle with caramelized banana! there was no Yorkshire pudding for the pork one, but beef roast had the pudding :)
