Very good burger and sides, albeit a bit too loaded with sauces which killed the flavour.

Wow I was blown away by the Meat Shack! I am a big chicken fan and this place really exceeded expectations. I found it on Google maps, looked like my kind of thing, was quite a trek mind, totally worth it though. Don't know where to start, the small chicken plates, the messy fries, fries were all incredible. Sauces were wild, dressing was perfect, everything was so well presented, everything was red hot, everything tasted amazing. Service was fast and friendly, place is clean and buzzing. Highly recommended, I can't wait to go back.

The burger was really nice and juicy. I also really liked the vibes of the established. My only gripe was that the buffalo fries were really salty.

Really good food, friendly staff and decent beer. As for burgers, kids loved Mr C but I went for the Hell Shack, nice heat without blowing your head off. The better half said the cauliflower bombs were “epic” and the chicken bombs were also really tasty

Great menu, great atmosphere, great staff, great vibe. Staff were friendly and welcoming. There is a relaxed atmosphere here but customer service is excellent as is the food. The menu is interesting and what I chose was of excellent quality as was the choice of my colleague. I'd happily eat here again.

Folium is really good, but not quite outstanding. The room is slightly on the sterile side - it feels a bit like a restaurant in a modern business hotel. The tasting menu (£55 in May 2019) is generously portioned, varied, and carefully executed. But at that price you can do better - in Birmingham and elsewhere. The mackerel dish was bland and the turbot was slightly over. Full marks for presentation and concept, but needs just a bit of refinement to be top quality.

Excellent food, a great experience in Birmingham city centre. I'll definitely recommend the 7 course dinner, as all of the dishes were amazing. Wine pairing was also very pleasant.

Amazing burger! Fabulously cooked with the slightest char on the meat which added to the flavour along with the saltiness of the Shropshire blue cheese and the slight sweetness of the candied bacon, added to the fresh salad and soft brioche bun this burger was a triumph . The fries were hot and crispy. The selection of craft ales were perfect additions to the meal. We called without booking a table so the only downside to our visit was the tall table and bar stools we had to sit at which was a struggle for us oldies - next time we'll be sure to book ahead.

It is quite small inside but has lovely decor. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food was lovely especially the OG chicken bombs. The batter was really good. Would definitely recommend. Not badly priced either. Had 2 topped fries, 2 burgers, chicken bombs and 4 drinks all for £37.

Amazing place! Went to the Meat Shack with the family and the menu had something for everyone dispite being burger based. Burgers had great flavour, perfectly cooked and the sides were original and tasty, especially the cauliflower bombs! The beers were great too. Complimented the burgers well. Also, the guys working there couldn't do enough for us, they were fantastic. Thanks for a great dinner!

Food was incredible with quick and knowledgeable service. Super friendly guys working here who gave me samples of the local craft beer which was a great pour. Can't wait to come back and try something else.

Amazing fries, very crispy chicken in the sandwich. The spice level didn't live up to the naming, but was still very enjoyable. Affordable price, prompt service and cheerful staff. The location is okay, I'm not really sure what they are going for, but the art on one of the walls is very cool. One of the best burger places I have been to in Birmingham thus far, I will certainly be visiting again in the future.

I celebrated my birthday last night in this fine place. happy to tell that it was a awesome evening and the venue was certainly the reason for this happy celebration. The stuff cooperated in a pleasant manner, the cuisine was tasty and my guests were so pleased. We shall absolutely come back again for more celebrations. Thank you very much.

I came here with a mate for lunch and it just needs to be said... best burger place in Birmingham! The atmosphere was chilled out and the staff were also very friendly. Also appreciate the wall art that's all over the restaurant. The burgers & fries were outstanding! My mate can also vouch for the vegan options :) The restaurant is only open during the long weekend, but definitely worth it making the time to go. Literally recommend to anyone who loves burgers :D

This place has been high on my list to try for ages and it didn’t disappoint! The burgers were amazing with punchy flavours and high quality ingredients, and the fried chicken side was sensational. It also felt super COVID secure whilst still being friendly and welcoming.

Love this place. Never disappoints. Great burgers and fries and amazing side dishes. Nice selection of local craft beers would like more but still nice to have. No kids menu which is a shame my 5yo couldn't eat it all. Would always recommend if you want one of the best burgers in Brum.

Hands down THE BEST BURGERS IN BRUM. If you want a proper burger then this is the place to go. Have been a regular here since it opened and have never once had an issue - other than trying to decide on which burger to have! The main menu is delicious, with a particular favourite being the Dutch Piggy (with a side of spicy shack attack fries & the incredible halloumi fries). As good as the regular menu is, don't ignore any specials that are on offer. You won't be disappointed. Treating myself to the 'Santa Shack' special is now part of my Christmas tradition list! Finally, the whole team at The Meat Shack are as just as good as the food. Always friendly and welcoming, always serving up their trademark dripping filthy goodness. A must visit for any burger lover.

The food is really good, however it takes long time to come, even though we were there off-peak hours. However, staff is very nice and welcoming.

What’s the meatiest vegetarian burger I’ve ever tasted? The Meat Shack’s Bella Emberg. The mix of mushroom paired with Dutch Gouda cheese was dripping with filthy goodness. I love everything about The Meat Shack, in the same way I love OPM. It is a micro Digbeth cultural experience transplanted in the centre of Birmingham’s Chinese Quarter. The mixture of street art, exposed balsa wood and American dining makes for a fast and social food experience. Another Birmingham Institution in the making.

Relaxed little place next to China Town, the food is really tasty and the staff are friendly. Great selection of really interesting burgers. Fried gherkins weren’t great.

On time very nice

The Meat Shack is a jewel in the culinary crown of Birmingham. The burgers, the fries, the sides, the beers, the decor, and the service are all stellar. I note also that The Meat Shack's Instagram account is quite fond of the pictures of Demi Rose Mawby, a rather beautiful local girl; very interesting.

The burgers here remind me of when I was a boy and I had burger all over my face. Terrific.

Tasty burger experience but it was very busy and I felt they were not able to control the number of customers in the restaurant. It was worth the money but the service was slow and they did get a few bits wrong with my order.

We collected from the restaurant on a Friday afternoon and had planned a Zoom virtual cook along and dinner party with friends. The package had instruction cards for each course, all of the ingredients, and even a short online instructional video to make preparations go smoothly.

Tasty

Came for dinner before a show at the Hippodrome. The burgers are AMAZING. We shared a Fries and Halloumi Fries and these were amazing too. Will 100% be back here. The staff were great and were so thankful when we offered to finish our drinks at the bar so more restaurant customers could enter.

Let me tell you a wonderful story. So, I was heading to a steel panther concert with my boy Fachi. On our way to the O2 academy we saw these place and figured “aaah let’s get a burger”... oh what a burger. I had the hot chicken burger. When I saw it I thought “no way this is hot”. It was. It was amazingly hot. A must go place in Birmingham

Lovely food, can't get a better burger anywhere near. Only issue was the speed of service, didn't seem like any of the staff were interested in getting us the bill or seeing if we'd like extra drinks. Shame!

Fantastic little restaurant, we really enjoyed the five course tasting menu that we had. All the dishes were wonderfully presented, and tasted amazing. The service was lovely too, the food and wine were all nicely explained but without it being a lecture, and it was just the right level of attentiveness without being intrusive. We had the wine pairing too, which we really enjoyed and thought all wines were really well matched and some were quite special.

I love this place! They serve sensational meals, they have a nice menu, The chief cook in that restaurant is a real authority in the kitchen, I like very much eating all their dishes. The dishes are consistently of high class, the service towards the guests is very good too. I go often to this place and I not even once was unhappy. Highly recommended.

When we left this restaurant all we could keep saying was "Why has it taken us so long to come here". This was a stunning display of fine dining. We opted for the Short tasting menu of which the photos are attached. Each course was remarkable, the combination of textures and flavors with each dish was exceptional.

I haven't been here for a while but I really enjoyed this place. Food is amazing. Took my wife for her birthday and she loved it.

Overall it was really great! The food was delicious and the staff were nice. My personal favourite dishes were: the sourdough porridge and toasted hay with caramel and rye. I would recommend this restaurant particularly for special occasions and will definitely visit this restaurant again some time in the future.

The presentation and quality of the food from Ben and the brigade is classy and each dish explained well at the table by Lucy and her front of house team. A great lunch that had us both talking about it for a long time after. Thank you all at Folium for a great meal and you can be assured we will be back for more.

Folium is even better than the last time I went! Outstanding food - every dish. Truly personal, professional and friendly service. The dining room is very comfortable and stylish. Would like a prefer a longer wine list but it will never put me off returning. In my mind, this is one of the top 2 restaurants in Brum.

Lovely venue. Great wines and beers. I really enjoyed the duck. Fake oyster with is deep fried cod skin is really not for me. A little too many fish dishes for a meat eater

Myself and my husband went to Folium to celebrate my husband's birthday. Waiting for us on the table was a birthday card, a really lovely touch. This was our first visit and first dining experience since Lockdown. We left this resturant ecstatic. And the reason for this was the amazing food and service. We both had the 5 course vegetarian menu and each dish was stunning, very hard to choose a favourite. I think I might opt for the sourdough porridge though. Each dish was explained to us, as you would expect in a restaurant of this calibre but was done in a gentle unassuming way. Front of house, Heather and Lucy looked after us so well as did Ben and his chefs in the kitchen. This type of dining is all about the Wow and satisfaction factor. Foliium delivered so well on both of these. Thank you so much Folium. A Michelin Star is due so soon and very well deserved. xx

Lovely little venue. There aren’t many seatings in the restaurant but they still keep it spacious. The design is modern and creates a comfortable atmosphere. The food is fantastic, accompanied by a well presented and explained menu. The staff are knowledgable of the food their serving, and a lot of effort goes into the service, you get a attentive staff throughout the meal. The wine list is fairly extensive, although not the biggest. The list is well put together with a variety of wines and drinks available at different price points. For those who aren’t entirely sure what they like there’s a nice chart for Red, White and Sweet wines to help you choose. The restaurant doesn’t have a sommelier, which could be a downside for some, but with a smaller wine list with a good variety of choices it’s not necessarily a requirement. Thoroughly recommend this restaurant and will be back soon too.

This place is worth trying. They have large portions for convenient prices. Consistently neat and with awesome vibes. Will come visit again.

Overall good experience. The burgers patties were tasty and good sized, but there was a bit too much bread. Fries were good, fairly standard. Not a huge amount of variety overall on the menu, but everything was tasty. Might be a rotating menu, but not sure about it. We had a beer called Potion which was really good. So, burger + fries/side + pint came down to £20 per person. A bit more expensive than your usual places, but it was good value.

It’s the best burger in Birmingham, hands down. Despite plenty of new burger restaurants opening in Brum, Meat Shack has remained on top. I love their chicken burger and they have a good beer selection. My most favourite experience was definitely last Christmas and their Christmas burger

The burger tasted fantastic, well cooked and with some great flavour matches. Side were sides, much the sames as most other burger shops about. So why drop one star? Just the menu system was not working on the day we visited, But service was great, the beercwas cold and the food was spot on. Would I got again, yes, and if everything works I'll be quite happy to change to a 5 star 🌟 😉

I went here around 1pm on Saturday because my friend recommended the food. The place was almost empty with just one couple and a dad with his child present. Because of this we were served pretty much within 10 minutes. The chicken burger I found to be extremely salty, not sure if it was the sauce or just added salt but it wasn't nice. The loaded fries were really tasty but it was strange they came in a small foil container? Forces you to be extra cautious as to not drop anything oozing from the fries. Overall, it was okay but will definitely choose another place over here in the future.

Excellent independently owned burger shack with chicken and veggie options. The Buffalo Chicken sharers/starters are amazing! Easy going atmosphere and tasty food plus good beers! Good music (but not too loud!) too!

I was expecting a lot more from this place. The burger was good but not great as some of the reviews are suggesting. Don't get me wrong the place is decent and service was ok and the food is good it's just not mind blowing. The burger flavour just had too much going on and about half way in got too much. I probably won't come back anytime soon but if you are looking for a good burger then come try this place you might love it but I think there's better burger places around.

Delicious burgers and great service yet off the beaten track. The burgers were very juicy and toppings were balanced and not too outlandish. I highly recommend burger lovers to come and sample!
