Lovely hotel, we had a small but comfortable, well designed room for two nights and it was perfect for us. A fridge is always a bonus, as was the complimentary fizz and water. Loved the neighbourhood, with bars, cafes etc on our doorstep. Hotel bar was good too, as was breakfast. All staff were lovely. Would definitely stay here again. Recommended.

I live locally and I’m always really torn with St Paul’s. On the one hand it’s a lovely bar/restaurant. The drinks are a little expensive but nothing you wouldn’t expect. They often have great live music on which is nice in the evening alongside a drink. However, the music is far too loud. I can see on some of the other reviews people have said the same, but nothing seems to change. It’s so loud you can’t barely hear each other speak and it does ruin the atmosphere and turn it into more of a bar/club vibe. Secondly, the food. It’s terrible. I went for a bottle less brunch and the service and food was a shambles (although the staff are lovely, I’d say there are just too few of them). I’m not a fussy eater but the food was rank and it’s definitely put me off eating here. This was a few months ago though, so it might have been a one off. Wouldn’t go back for anything other than a drink though.

Lovely hotel, very friendly staff. Great room albeit small but very stylish, comfy bed,tea and coffee making facilities in the room, hair dryer, towels, dressing gown, wardrobe space...liked the full size toiletries in the bathroom..complimentary drinks in the mini bar a nice touch...over a very noisy bar but we were on the top floor so didn't hear much..just knocked a star off as after we booked the price was literally halfed the next day and breakfast £15 and parking £15 was extra !!..was very enjoyable stay though and we would return .

We went with friends to enjoy a meal and night out. The service staff were fantastic service with a great smile but the food what a Disappointed!!!! My burger arrives absolutely stone in the middle I pointed it out to the waitress who looked genuinely shocked (stage play) who promised me a replacement asap. My replacement burger arrives approx 20mins later which looked like a dogs dinner totally thrown together the burger was over cooked the bacon under cooked and the cheese stone cold. Nobody bothered to even come anywhere near us to check if the replacement meal was up to satisfaction. One bite was taken out of the burger and left. When finally a waitress bothered to come over to us I pointed out their failings. The cheek of the establishment they brought us our bill will our meals including their service charges less my meal. Its now late and the kitchen has closed and im still hungry. When the bill was challenged as to what compensation was given they told me that my meal wasn't included (shock face) so I asked for the manager. They sent over an inexperienced bar manager who just looked at me like a rabbit in headlights. So I asked for a proper manager and they sent over a rude and arrogant lady who told me that removing the service charge and a further £17.50 they were doing me a favour. At this point I'm in no mood to listen to her arrogance. I complained to her pointed out that due to their incompetent kitchen staff I'm still hungry kitchen is closed that removing the service and a £17.50 staff discount on a £148 bill was an absolute joke and that I had to ask for this to be done!!! At which point I was told to get out and not come back. I complained to their management and was told I was unreasonable and shouted and abusive to their staff according to their CCTV (so am I being recorded with voice which is illegal) So in short I'm barred from St Pauls because I complained that my food was appalling and not eaten at all. Thank you St Paul's for the horrific experience for what was supposed to be a pleasurable night out!!!

Far too loud inside so we ate outside. Food was surprisingly very good indeed and staff were very helpful and attentive. One star removed because of the noise inside. Management should look at this seriously because we we not able to communicate with bar staff even though we were shouting...shame because the venue is really nice inside and looks out over the lovely St Paul's Square. We won't be going back though because the music is too loud inside.

We pop in St pauls regularly, staff are always friendly, foods always good, breakfast choices are great, the bottomless brunch is always a fun way to spend a few hours and their Sunday lunches are always a good option. And the cocktails....well,if you like a good cocktail, then this is your place to try.

Not worth the price... and the service at breakfast was pretty bad. Front of house member of staff stood next to the bar drinking a coffee while we waited about 20 mins for ours. Then when we had to interact with her at the end she was really rude and off putting. Breakfast took ages to come out and there were only three tables. Reception staff were nice. Room was nice and clean but not worth how much they're charging... pretty basic and small. Location was handy. Wouldn't go back and quite disappointed as it was a birthday weekend present.

I stayed at St Paul’s House for four nights on a business trip and I absolutely loved it. The interiors of the common areas are very accurate, stylish and warm. My room too was really cute and cosy, as well as functional and well-designed. An “old-style” room revisited in a modern key with good taste and an eye for details. Should I ever come back to Birmingham in the future, I will definitely make sure to stay here again!

The choice of food was very normal. Nothing really stood out. Sirlon Steak was cooked to a good standard. However, I wasn't expecting the music to be so loud. We had to raise our voices whilst conversing.

Lovely rooms with coffee pod machine in the room. Bar was a nice atmosphere and breakfast was good. Great location for the arena and an energetic walk to town :) staff were delightful. Definitely look to come back if in the area over other choices.

A pleasant enough bar and restaurant, although I had to send a drink back because it was tangy. The soup was not spicy we were told, but it actually was. We mentioned this and asked for extra bread ( the bread was very good) to soak up the spices. It arrived 10 minutes later. We were not charged for the bread. Polite service.

Busy bar and service was very good, ordered some bar snacks too, chicken wings and chips, was pleasantly surprised, cooked well with plenty of seasoning. Live DJ was good plenty of RnB and place had a good vibe.

Travelling from the north by car it was straight forward to find and get to. We were able to park up at the rear of the hotel. The parking is extra and part of the local RingGo system but its not bad for the 24hr stay (about £13) with it being so close. The room wasn't bad, but it should of been a superior room as the app we booked under stated we had been upgraded but after the fact, I realised we hadn't. The food for the evening meal and breakfast where both great. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location was great for both the Arena and city centre, both walkable.

Beautiful location overlooking St Paul's Park, but noisy bar/ security outside door under our window til 1am. Lovely, lively spot, but not for a quiet night.

The first time I went it wasn't planned as was disappointed with a prior place. I was happy this happened as this is my number 1 spot to go, I can't get enough. Second time I went I called prior to make a request. Camilla was more than happy to accommodate and ensured when I arrived I was taken care of. She is amazing. Third time bought my son of 6 and goddaughter of 2 in half term and again Camilla accommodated them with ensuring they were occupied whilst waiting for food. You didn't know they were there and loved the food. Amelia is also an incredible woman and won't forget how she gave me such a warm welcome when bringing my newborn to christen the place. She'd spotted me coming from car and made sure she met me by the door with wheelchair access, so could easily bring baby in. I can't actually count how many times I've been here now, but I'm accompanied by someone different each time. I want to share how lovely the place is, as (you don't get many, who do good food and customer service these days). Who I've come with in the past now frequently visit too. If looking for 5* customer service, beautiful decor, somewhere you can go alone or with someone, have a good range of delicious food to choose from including some mocktails/cocktails too, I'd say always choose here. A place which doesn't disappoint every time. Thanks again Camilla, Amelia and staff at St Pauls.

Wandered around the jewellery quarter today and wanted something tasty for lunch. Popped in for a quick drink and we had a Caesar Salad and the Seabass. It did take a while to come but it was worth the wait. Delicious food. Many thanks

Our first trip to Birmingham was an absolute pleasure, due to our experience at Saint Pauls House. This is just an incredible gem of a hotel! From the minute we walked through the fabulous floral entryway, to our check out time, every second was flawless. The restaurant is absolutely sublime, and every meal we had was incredible. It felt high end, without the price tag. My wife and I will definitely be staying again, and look forward to our next trip.

A nice brunch find and they were very attentive to us all. We were allowed to keep our table for longer, but when it was time to move, they asked us in such a lovely way. A nice find for a brunch and would recommend.

Such a beautiful place, amazing and friendly staff. The atmosphere is out of this world, you could just melt in the ambience. The bar snacks are divine, I absolutely recommend the halloumi fries. Definitely coming back again soon!

Very central location in St Paul's Square, walking distance into city centre. Room was very spacious and clean, the bathroom was nice and quite well lit. I liked the coffee machine, desk and mini fridge that was available in the room (may have been an upgrade). The downstairs bar is spacious and has lots of options, where there are options for food too and outdoor seating. The hotel area is on the left hand side, as soon as you walk in through the front doors. Reasonably priced.

Our first time visit started well however staff weren't very attentive when we finished our meal. Took for me to ask the manager about how attentive his staff should be for a staff member to come over and ask if we would like desserts or a drink. I was mid-sentence when one staff member rolled his neck and flounced off which is very rude. The manager apologised however the staff member should humble himself and apologise after being rude. Enough time given for him to apologise.

What a rare find, a hotel with style and substance. Fantastic location, great atmosphere in the bar (yes it gets loud but it’s great fun), parking on site if you get there early enough, great bars nearby and the centre is 15 minutes walk away. The staff are fantastic and so friendly and helpful! Thank you Amelia and your team, Levi at the end of the night is a pleasure!

We were met at reception by a lovely guy who was really chatty and friendly. Went to the room and were pleasantly surprised by the size and layout. With a nice sofa, decent dressing table with more mirrors than you ever need! Shower was really good however the bathroom door wouldn't stay closed and there was a little mould hanging around in the hard to reach corners. The room was quiet in the night, not too hot but the bed wasnt the most comfortable and the room could really benefit from a blackout blind or curtain as it was like daylight in the room at 5am! I would definitely recommend staying here, the vibe if the bar was great, the folk were super friendly and the area was like a little village in the city.

Very nice hotel, convenient and pleasant location with an ample bar should the need be felt. Checkin was quick and easy. Excellent room, plenty of space with tasteful if restrained decor. Perfectly adequate for my overnight stay but would have served equally well for a short city break. Breakfast was a quirk as the full cooked breakfast does not come with any eggs unless requested. Luckily plenty of choices but I did wait a long time for my food to come. Other than that certainly no complaints and I’d happily stay again.

Although the staff are nice, there seemed to be an expectation of us knowing what to do here. It was our first time. The app didn't have good and I've just returned from Scotland where bar service is not acceptable. Also none of the staff wore masks...

I had a meal here on Thursday before attending the escape room around the corner. Hospitality was excellent formal, warm and welcoming. All staff were friendly and so Polite. The establishment was stunning, especially the solarium, the interior decorations were alluring- picture perfect. Perfect for a wedding reception. We were treated so well we returned after the escape room for dessert. The taste of the food was exquisite, and so was the presentation in which it came from the chef. Would really recommend this to anyone.

Beautiful place to eat. The staff were amazing, really friendly and helpful. I am gluten free and there were plenty of options and staff were excellent at remembering and offering suggestions. I will definitely be coming back.

Our large group of 12 had the private rear room to ourselves which was nice but the background music was far too loud. This is mentioned often in other reviews. Does anyone in management listen? Food was ok ish once it eventually arrived. We had to send one mussels dish back as the mussels were not fresh. The delay in the meals being served was shocking as we had pre ordered all the dishes. And, they actually lost a lot of money as no one came to see if we wanted more drinks throughout the meal. Such a shame, it's a nice venue, but the service doesn't live up to it.

Fantastic venue in the heart of Jewellery Quarter. Offering exceptional cocktails and large variety of drinks and spirits with great choices on draft. The food is amazing and they have something for everyone. This place is also great for business meetings and networking. You will find a lot of business locals holding events here as it’s just a fantastic space. Plenty of paid parking just outside so easy to get to. The staff are really friendly and helpful and make you feel welcome. If you are visiting Birmingham or looking for some where to meet for quick 1-2-1 meeting then Saint Pauls House is a great shout.

Whilst majority of the staff were lovely, not having a working lift was difficult and there were issues with the room (104) There is a lot of black mould in the shower, not nice at all. If you like a dark room, you're not going to like this room as the light streams in through the blind as the sun rises, it really needs to be a blackout blind. Room is simple, bed is a double so very small, for a 4 star hotel I expected more from the room. The bar is lovely though the bar staff that served us weren't very friendly and we ate in the restaurant, food was delicious and the waitress was so very lovely. There's music playing until late in the bar, you're going to hear that until late - the website doesn't mention that at all so be warned!

Stayed here for the Commonwealth Games. It is a 10-15 minute walk from the centre of Birmingham. Based in the jewellery quarter with parking. The staff were great nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were comfortable and we had a view of the square was an added bonus. The food was amazing and the terrace a lovely and calming space during the day. Would recommend this place and would be my go to hotel if staying in Birmingham.

Room was a little too cold, but we were given a heater. The toilet seat was very loose and bathroom sliding door didn't give alot of privacy, plus ventilation in bathroom wasn't working. Room was spacious and bed comfortable. Breakfast very good although service was quite slow. There was a private party in evening and the DJ played fabulous music. It made our stay so much better. Would come back again 👍

So it’s true it is a noisy place but it was great to have somewhere to go to without a booking on a Saturday evening in the city centre. The service was as good as it can be when under staffed. Our waitress was smiling and friendly. We were a group of five and we all enjoy our food. The chicken milanaise was the table favorite. Pricing was also reasonable ! We will be back ☺️

Nice hotel above a bar/restaurant in a gorgeous location, the jewellery Quarter in Birmingham. We had a basic room which was small but totally fine. It was clean and the bed was comfy. The restaurant does good food and they offer bottomless brunch and lunch which can be fun. Very smart inside and with a parking area it's a very good location

I really enjoyed my stay at St Paul's House, great location. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by lovely friendly receptionists. They always had a smile on their faces and were always very helpful Emelia, Katia, Diana all the team were brilliant I didn't catch all the names. It was my first time in Birmingham and it was a great experience. My room was spacious, clean and the breakfast was excellent. Thank you ladies hope to see you in the future.

Great Drink, lovely pub. I took some nice photos 😅 1. Great service (politely express your concerns to them, if you’ve got one) 2. Great sitting arrangement (in door and outdoor). 3. I didn’t notice any wheelchair accessibility (maybe there’s a different entrance for that). 4. There’s good parking space available. 5. I love how the bar is arranged. (I’m being extra) I had 3 different cocktail (hmmm yes I know). The first was Bloody Mary (please don’t try this) it was horrible! 😩. Let’s get to the good part, I had the St Paul’s Sling cocktail 🍹 next (& oh man!) ❤️👌🏽 It was fantastic. That was my first choice but for some reason the bar tender told me that wasn’t available, later I went back and a beautiful lady made that for me. And I ended my night with a rum ginger mix (was too hash for me ). My friends thought their drinks tasted a bit different from what they know of same drinks outside. Just like my blood Mary, was totally different from what I know.

Positives: Food, cocktails and staff. Dinner and breakfast were tasty, cocktails were aplenty and the staff are very friendly and look after you. Hotel feels safe and in a good location for the city centre. Room was nice and clean, bed was comfortable and the shower had the option of an overhead waterfall shower as well as a handheld which is nice for if you don’t want to wash your hair. Neutrals: We had a slight issue with the sound proofing in our room - we had a nice wake up call from the binmen at 5:20 in the morning (we found it funny, but if you’re wanting a lie in, bin day is Friday morning and you’ll probably want a room facing the back courtyard rather than the square!) Hotel decoration was a bit lacklustre compared to the bar/restaurant area, but decoration and maintenance was occurring during our stay, highlighted by the fact that the lift was out of order and the couple of wet paint signs in our corridor. Again, not an inconvenience to us, we took it as the hotel trying to keep us on track with our new year health kick as we had no option but to take the stairs! Parking is chargeable at £15 for 24hours, but at least it is on site. Overall, we had a great stay, we would return and we look forward to seeing the renovations (just not on a Friday!)

One of the best in Birmingham highly recommended. Amazing staff who are really friendly and very accommodating. All the rooms top notch cleanliness 10/10 Bar 10/10 value for money 10/10. Been here more than 15 times. Always a lovely stay.

Awesome boutique hotel with fabulous bar/restaurant (amazing choice of food and drinks), loved the decor! Rooms were clean and comfy. Couldn't hear any of the noise from downstairs in my room on 2nd floor. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was amazing. Parking at the hotel (only £12) and only a short walk into town. Can highly recommend!

  • 3/5 David J. 1 year ago on Google
Bedroom was quite small, only option was a double so being used to a super kingsize it was a bit snug! Receptionist was fantastic really made you feel at home, breakfast was lovely and worth the added cost but add that to the room AND parking and I would have expected better accommodation. Bar was nice and service good. Lift was out of order which was not good for 2 members of the party who have had (not successful) recent knee replacements
