What a gem in this bustling city, beautiful tasty food and friendly staff helped us decide what to order.. Inside the restaurant felt like an authentic middle Eastern cafe and the food was authentic... We wish we had found it sooner... We will be back, highly recommended.

Attentive staff didn't forget anything of the order and made sure we felt comfortable and that everything was clean. Beautiful building, a great selection of hot and cold ice teas. Falafel is to die for, can't get any better than these my no. 1 not dry at all and crunchy on the outside. Freshly made houmous everyday and lamb was fall apart lamb great food.

The food is amazing. I'm working away from home and it's so good to go somewhere where you can get real food. Whether it's lunch or dinner it's perfect. Friendly staff and the way the food is prepared is perfect. Key word is perfect.

The best customer service the staff is very friendly and helpful. I drunk in the morning their Turkish coffee and gone back again and had Chicken wrap and a Turkish tea. The food is lovely! I'm recommending you to go and have a proper coffee if you're a coffee lover or tea they have so many options to choose. Thank you for your hospitality! ❤️🤍

Just plain GOEGEOUS! Food and aesthetics. Staff were super lovely too. I highly recommend making a reservation in advance as this place is very busy due to its popularity(understandably so) and you may have to wait a while to get a table if you just turn up. Totally worth the wait though!

Probably the best place in Birmingham city centre to have a dine in lunch especially for Halal food that isn't fried. Wraps are only about £6-7 and they're really filling. Overall menu isn't pricey in my opinion but the portion sizes are very good regardless. Service is really quick, and the wait isn't long at all. Juices were freshly made and not diluted at all. The interior is nice, although it is one big hall like room at the back of the restaurant. Defo planning on coming again soon

Beautifully designed kind of restaurant/ coffee/ tea shop. You can walk from the city centre, very close to the bus stations or park with a bit of luck right in front of the restaurant. Good food, lots of options, meat eaters or vegetarians, I am sure that you will find a delicious dish here. The fresh mint tea it is fantastic, I always order two of them. The staff is super friendly and helpful regarding intolerances and dietary restrictions. Cuddos to the team! The seats are a bit uncomfortable for me, but not terrible. I recommend them!

Picked this place based on reviews and how much I'm missing Middle Eastern food. It was bustling on the footpath so I picked a table inside to enjoy their decor. The Chicken Shawarma Arabiya featured succulent, seasoned meat and pickles wrapped in a flat bread and sectioned, served with spicy potatoes, garlic dipping sauce and a light salad. The cardamom tea was uniquely fragrant and herb like, so soothing after the oilier meal. Both were well presented. The Arabian inspired interior is lovely, contrasting with the lush greenery across the path. A couple of tables complained about the long wait for their orders while I was there. Service was the barest minimum possible, accounting for the rating.

Nice food actually, I do regularly buy my own Lebanese flat bread from a Lebanese supermarket in Brum, for home consumption and it was very similar to that. We had classic hummus with flat bread and the damascena special shawarma both chicken and lamb meat options. Taste was OK, but specially loved the batata harara potatoes. Would definetely have them again. Service wise: We were asked to pay upfront. This was not the case for every customer, other customers could pay after, so I felt a bit discriminated. Unfortunately after we paid, no receipt was given either. I worked it out and although it was correctly calculated, dude could have offered me the receipt. You know what I mean........ Having that extra bit of clarity... Waiter dude's attitude could do with a bit of up-lift. I wonder how long his sentence lasts for? He was a newbie I guess, I say this because another diner clocked on and pointed it out to him and asked him if he was new.. ..... Never mind. We've all been there... Bathroom soap, please keep it refilled at all times. (although they do offer mildly scented wet towel sachets) at the table. Nevertheless, bathroom soap is part of sanitation and hygiene, so no excuses there for an establishment of this calibre and high grade!! I will visit again for the 'in house' coffee / special hot drinks... Hopefully sooner than later.. See you soon!

Such a stunning coffee house. I wanted to say little coffee house but it is actually rather spacious. At the same time, the beautiful deco makes you feel like you are on vacation in Turkey; intimate and cosy. Food was lovely and the fresh juices are fresh. It's sad when you have to specify that. Me and my two friends ate slowly, talked lots, laughed more and just had an amazing brunch!!

My favourite cafe and restaurant in Birmingham, used to spend the whole afternoon there reading and enjoy their beautiful atmosphere. The food is so delicious and the people are always very welcoming, can’t recommend more.

Simply fantastic food and great coffee too. Staff are friendly and welcoming, even in these new restricted times. Breakfast is awesome, but not as awesome as the sweet treats that await later in the day.

Great cafe with cozy seating. Overall staff are nice and attentive, however there was one rude member of staff last time I went who made me feel unwelcome. Sometimes it gets quite busy and there's a queue... I had to wait 40 minutes to get a table last time.

What a lovely find. Visiting from South Wales for a gig & mooching around Birmingham looking for coffee for my wife, and stumbled across Danascena. We've never eaten Middle Eastern food before & so thought it was a great opportunity to try, so glad we did. The did was absolutely delicious, Maria loved the coffee also. Highly recommended.

Visited this Damascena after the one in Jewellery Quarter was completely full and would not be visiting this one again. We were waiting an awfully long time and the staff were not welcoming or apologetic. The cinnamon tea tasted as if several tea packs had been concentrated to create this one abomination. It was undrinkable as the taste was so overwhelming. The mains seating area is extremely crammed and there appears to be no adherence to COVID social distancing guidelines. We had groups of people sitting around us on each side, less than an arms length away. I would simply recommend the Damascena in the Jewellery Quarter as I have visited there countless time and can say they always delivery on quality.

This place is always busy and packed so be sure to wait around until seats are available. Food is really good here, service is quick. Havent tried a lot of the menu yet but so far so good. Will be back to try more, but overall for those who eat healthy, this is the place to come to!

Spot of lunch here during work. Ordered the chicken shawarma wrap with potatoes and a karak spiced tea. Delicious. Lovely decor and a nice quiet spot. One way system and hand sanitiser at entrance.

The setting is excellent, and service is generally superb. In a city centre which is dominated by restaurants that cost a fair amount of money, it is lovely to have a high quality, reasonably priced place to enjoy yourself. One thing to note is that it frequently is busy so you'll have to wait 10-15 mins to be seated. I put this as a negative because the restaurant doesn't have a system in place to reserve a place and enjoy the park opposite.

Damascena is my favourite restaurant in Brum, hands down. I’d heard this location wasn’t as good as the Moseley one, but I haven’t found that - they have great service and food. Been stocking up on my faves and baklava recently when I have a chance to come to the centre, could eat their food all day!! I’ve tried most of the menu and it’s all been great. I most frequently order the mixed mezze because it’s great value for money. The baklava and baba ganoush are amazing (not tigethe)!

Lovely experience. We were visiting Birmingham for a weekend and glad we found this place. I had the best chai latte in my life and best baklava cheesecake. Breakfast was lovely, too and if I was local I would visit regularly.

Me and my friend ordered damscena’s breakfast with omelette next to it. Everything was great and the food was very nice and delicious. The vibes were amazing, it felt like we are somewhere else not in Birmingham. We’ve enjoyed everything, highly recommend this breakfast at this branch.

Really lovely coffee house with an extensive menu of teas and coffees with snacks and desserts available. There was a very tasty looking food menu, but we only popped in for coffee and dessert. The staff were lovely and very friendly and the place was clearly popular for good reason. We intend to return and try the food menu as well next time.

  • 5/5 Charles B. 10 months ago on Google
Food was delightful and loved the new menu - it definitely makes the whole dining experience even better as everything becomes even more accessible. The only thing I’d say is personally, I couldn’t tell the difference between the lamb schwarma and the lamb flatbread. They both tasted exactly the same to me, but not complaining as they were delish. Service was impeccable as always. Whilst we resisted the temptation to get a couple of baklavas to go this time, we do highly rate them.

This has been a favourite of mine for awhile, for eating in and takeaway coffee, and I've been looking forward to it reopening. I brought family recently and they fell in love with it too! The food was delicious as always (sharing platters were a big win! There was something for everyone), being very busy there were a few hiccups with service but the waitresses were so lovely and went the extra mile that they more than made up for it. Definitely coming back and bringing more people here

First time here and loved everything about it. A delicious mixed meze accompanied by samovar tea was perfect for two people, but the menu is extensive and caters to all appetites and food preferences/intolerances. The service we received was faultless, lovely decor and a general sense of wanting to give customers a great experience. Highly recommended.

We only had quick breakfast, waited quite long to get the food tho. Nice omelette, the mint tea was refreshing. Lovely atmosphere. Sitting inside is better than outside. All halal 👍 If we visit Birmingham again, we would come back to try other dishes especially shawarma & the afters!

I tell everyone that is going to Birmingham to go to Damascena. I've been so many many times and always come back. The food is absolutely fantastic, and it is one of the few affordable places left to eat. The decor really makes this restaurant stand out. A great selection on the menu and the portion sizes are massive. It'll always fill you up. 10/10. Always has lots of customers.

Was in Birmingham for the day at a work event and this restaurant was booked for our team lunch. Our event had overrun by more than 30 minutes but they kindly kept the tables for us which was really good to see as we were a big group and it would have been hard to walk in to another restaurant. I ordered a karak milky tea to start and the falafel platter with hummus and flatbread. I really enjoyed the milky tea, the spices added on top of the milk foam really elevated the taste of the tea and made it more appetising. The falafel platter on the other hand was simply average, falafels were small and the hummus was mediocre. I definitely have had much better Middle Eastern food in London. However, I do think for the amount of food they serve the price is certainly very affordable - £12.70 including service charge which was insane! In London this would have cost at least £20. Vibe was chill and had the traditional Middle Eastern patterns of walls and lights everywhere. Staff were friendly and approachable but could tell they were extremely busy that it's sometimes hard to get someone.

This place is really good. We just popped in for a coffee, which was excellent, and found ourselves tempted by a plate of assorted havla (6 pcs for £4.95) it was surprisingly good. Not over-sweet, crunchy and full of flavour. I need to return for more, and to try the delicious looking flatbread based options.

This is one of my favourite places in Birmingham. The juz-muz is one of my favourite dishes ever, and despite how simple it is I've never been able to make it taste as good as Damscena do. The Turkish coffee is also something really special. I can't recommend this place highly enough.

  • 1/5 Kerry M. 3 years ago on Google
Been here before for excellent coffee and salad. Today, alas, on a cameo trip into Brum, I sat there for half an hour and no-one took my order, so I left to get my train and, against my usual practice, to patronise a chain coffee shop.

I finally got around to visiting Damascena in Temple Row to try the food. Can I just say, every single thing was quality! Exquisite flavours & textures; seasoned to perfection. Hands down, the best vines leaves & falafel I have ever had. The decor is stunning, staff were lovely. I would highly recommend you try it out. I am gluten intolerant & my friend is allergic to nuts. No issues whatsoever & a very good range of options for both of us. God bless you guys ❤️
