Great shop, great, knowledgeable staff. Been buying fish and now reptiles from here for 30 years, have recommended friends get reptiles from here as well and all have been healthy and lived a long time. My first stop for any potential worries I have with my animals long after buying them, always give good advice or calm my fears. Used them last year to look after my 3 foot plus Savannah Monitor when I went on holiday, he was well cared for and came back healthy and happy. Live food has got better and better over last 2 years, boxes are full, price is good and last long over the time I need them to.

After buying a bearded dragon, I was needing some help and general information about keeping them. This shop is a godsend. I live 5 miles from this shop but the journey is worth it.The live food you get is of a great quality and you get loads.Im now getting double the amount for what I was buying from my local pet shop in Kings Heath. Brendan and Suzanne are always helpful and willing to give you any help that you need. Highly recommend!

Reading some of the comments on here I actually wonder if it's the same shop & owners. I have been using this shop for well over 5 years and have NEVER had an issue. My bearded dragon George loves it when he has his "Holiday" at the shop he always comes away a happy dragon when we pick him up. Advice is always great, live food is always fresh and I have never been followed round the shop. I can't recommend them enough and always have a chat with the owners whenever I pop in. I know they had problems during covid with people visiting the shop with children and using it like a Zoo and I wonder if that's the reason for "being followed round" I can't fault the place and yea, the place does smell a bit, smells of reptiles which you would expect from an exotic pet shop.

Signs on entry asking people to wear masks and social distance which is great. Have been using this pet store for a couple of years and popped in again yesterday to buy an oranda and a weather loach. The shop is clean and well presented as always. The fish are well looked after and have seen on more than one occasion, tanks been wiped down and fish been fed. I always get good advice from here when I ask questions. The guy was friendly and knowledgable like always and took the time to answer my 5 year olds questions.

Really good reptile shop! Went in for the first time to buy my son his first lizard, a bearded dragon, and staff were very helpful and can tell they know what they're on about with all the information given. Gave me everything I need to get started, at a great price, and helpful to know they are there for any advice even after I have taken my animal home. Would highly recommend, and shop looks great with all the live plants everywhere :)

I use this shop often, they always have bugs in and always happy to give advice if needed. I've recently had corn snakes from here which are beautiful and well handled. Always greeted with a smile and hello, feel safe shopping here as they adhere to the covid rules.

Had an albino corn snake from these guys 1st time in the store and it's amazing they have the best selection of everything you need and really informative and friendly staff. i'll be back...

We like small independent shops like this, seem to have the more unusual in stock. Great place for reptiles, spiders if your into those kind of pets, we're more into our fish and they had plenty to be of interest. Tortoises, big ones to the teeny babies, axolotl's and a display with a (i think) alligator or caiman. Very interesting place.

I'd come back again as the prices are good and a very good variety of fish that you can't get in other shops however the man is so moody like other people have mentioned he has no customer service skills at all.

Didn't know this place was here. Its amazing inside. The owner was very helpful and knowledgeable. I will DEFINITELY be going back again. Its worth a visit and will be taking my grandchildren there very soon. Thank you

Been using this pet shop for over 10 years, Staff are very informative, always helpful and kind of become friends. Kept the shop open for me when I was running late and needed supplies. Brought all my spiders, lizards, fish etc from this shop. Would never use another pet shop as Brendan, Suzanne and Kyle have always helped me when I haven't had a clue. Keep up the good work guys👍👍

I was popping to Clive Marks with my son when he spotted this pet store and asked if he could have a quick look. I said feel free while I carried on to Clive Marks. Almost immediately he came back out the store saying that he wasn't allowed because he’s a child. He's 14 years of age so I went with him back to the store and looked to see if there was a notice we missed saying "No children allowed without adult supervision". There was nothing on display. I mentioned this fact to the gentleman inside the store, to which he replied “it’s my business I can do what I want”. This maybe true but I pointed out that had he places a sign on the door it would save any confusion. Worst customer service I have ever had. May explain why the shop was empty.

The world of fish and pets is by far the best pet shop i have ever visited. The staff are the most knowlegeable i have come across and you will not find the varieties of animals anywhere else, they even have a "Caiman". I visit once every 2 months to buy my rats for my cornsnake and i always pay a little bit extra which goes towards the food for the animals. I do this because they have the passion for animals that most mainstream petshops dont and with passion comes knowledge. If you need any information on owning any animal, i highly recommend you visit this place first. Also they are strict on wearing a mask which i think is fantastic considering what is going on in the world we live in right now. Keep it up guys. Dale

Been using this shop for many years now, and find the service is always excellent, the reptiles always look great as do the fish, fabulous shop, knowledgeable staff, I'd thoroughly recommend it.

Not a bad place. Some beautiful animals that i noticed was well cared for. Good notes are they have amazing choice of animals and they appear well taken care of. Not so good points is the shop is a little over run with flies which is unpleasant and some of the tanks needed a little tlc and staff wasn't interactive and don't really acknowledge a customer. Over all a decent shop with some lovely animals and creatures, large selection of accessories with is brilliant.

Amazing service! Brought all our pets from them such as fish and our crested gecko! Any questions or queries they’re always happy to help! And were great when we brought our very first gecko who’s doing amazing. All our pets come to us healthy and our going strong. Can’t recommend enough. Thank you :)

The guy was so not interested in me. It was all about money. I bought a few varieties of fish which were put into seperate bags but on his way to the till with two hands full of bags he dropped one containing four fish. They hit the floor like a stone but he just picked the bag up as if nothing happened. Money, money, money. First and last visit and I will be advising my aquatic friends against visiting the place.

Not sure whether it was because it was the end of the day but the guy didn't seem to interested in us as customers and it was more like a zoo with a fancy gift shop for your reptiles. They didn't have anything in that we actually went for. (Which was things needed for a paludarium) and there plants looked so old and like they were on there way out. Doubt very much that we would be using this place again for our needs other than to look at the reptiles as a bit of a free zoo.

A unique pet shop experience in East Birmingham where it's like visiting a zoo because of the wide selection of animals here. The owners also keep their own pets here including an amazing Kamen alligator. A very covid secure experience where customers are asked to show consideration for others although there are an ignorant few who choose to not wear masks despite having no reason not to. Always well stocked with fresh and frozen food for the more exotic animals.

I love going to this pet shop. I've always found the staff to be helpful when I ask them for advice on products or animals, and love the shops theming! Would recommend to anyone with a passion for more unique animals and pets.

I bring my son in each week to the shop and he absolutely loves it its such a welcoming shop. All the animals we have purchased have grew upto be extremely healthy and I know I can pop in advice whenever I need to. Overall I can't fault the world of fish and pets and they have a customer for life in us

Amazing! Bought a beardie from them 6 years ago, been buying bugs and bulbs off them ever since. The owner and staff are all very helpful and knowledgeable about the animals and products they provide. Store has a lot packed into it but doesn't seem to affect the animals, they all look happy and healthy.

This place is extremely interesting. We went to this shop after visiting several reptile places. At the this store we told the man we were interested in a bearded dragon, he gave us absolutely loads of information about them which was super useful. We decided to buy a full set up from them. They even set the vivarium up for us so we only had to take it home and plug it in. The shop is really local to me which is handy. They have some amazing animals in the store. The people are really friendly and helpful.

Moved over from New York in 2019. Local to this shop so thought I'll give it a look as I keep reptiles previously. No customer service. Warm welcome or nothing. Shop is falling apart, old vivariums and a weird smell. Was followed around by a woman the entire time for an odd reason? Was going to buy some snakes but no one gave me time or seemed bothered. Went to another shop in b'ham where I spent alot of money on snakes and set ups. Your loss guys. Avoid....

unwelcoming my first time at the shop and was not impressed at all i went to this place looking for crickets but i went there not a good welcome at all no one welcomed me or asked if i needed help the person on the tills on the their phone like they not bothered at all , and the shop was okay but would not go there again and the price for crickets are kinda expensive and i can find them better and cheaper somewhere else .when i paid the person my money for the crickets the person looked rude then went straight back on to their phone like just sat there glued to the phone . i think they only care about money not on the animal welfare at all .

Very nice setup wasn’t expecting to walk-in to a zoo even had crocodiles & snakes in there very nicely setup shop good staff freindly very knowledgeable one of the best aquatic stores in region if not the best prices were fantastic @ £2.50 a goldfish that will take some beating lots of other interesting homes to Spiders, Turtles, Birds and thousands of other animals & fish one could just walk through and be mesmerised by the beautiful nature and the animal environment setup they have amazingly made 11/10 ❤️👍

Love this place. Bought a bearded dragon over a year ago from here. Advice given was really comprehensive. I have called on the phone for advice since purchasing too and they are always happy to give care advice. Our Beardie is doing wonderfully and is very healthy. We get his food from this shop & qty/quality of bugs are great. We also use the boarding service they offer for reptiles; reasonable price & is great to know he is well looked after while we are away. I have also been coming here for years with my boys as they always loved to look at the huge selection of animals on offer. It’s great to support a local business too ☺️

Brought two tortoises earlier this year and we found staff very friendly and helpful, always happy to answer any questions and provide support. Prices are reasonable, we get all of our supplies there and our tortoises have been for reptile boarding while we have been away too. Shop is lovely, kids love looking around at all the different animals. Highly recommend 😊

I like this place they are very knowledgeable people but I find that they can be very miserable looking and unhappy to be there other than that ok

A bit smelly inside and very dark. A lot of the Viv's had no lights so couldn't see inside. Went to buy but didn't as I just couldnt see enough of anything and was a bit put off. They do have axolotls which were cool to see but there was only 1 staff member and he was serving, nobody else to talk too to get any advice or information. Prob won't go here again.

We love this place. Excellent service. The owners are lovely. Have helped us out so much. Daughter was over the moon with her corn snake for Xmas. A big thank you. We highly recommend The world of fish and pets as we wouldn’t go anywhere else.

I would avoid buying from here. The shop looked very over run and not very clean. I have lost nearly all my frogs due to buying one sick frog from here. He died not long after owning him, Looking back now makes sense why they get you to sign something to say it wasn't their fault if the animal died after a month of owning it.. at the time I thought it was a bit strange but I'd never been there before. Obviously they must know their animals are dying often to do this? I've never had to do this at any other reptile shop??? Anyway... in that time the frog I got from here passed on the infection which I have been fighting off for way over a year on the rest of my animals. I have lost 7 frogs which were healthy frogs before buying one from here. This has cost me a lot of money in vet bills, vivs and most of all so much heartbreak. I could see the frog was very skinny but I thought he just needed a good meal so wanted to save him. He had crickets nearly as big as him in the tank with him and a pather anole as a house mate . This shows he wasn't well cared for on the shops part because he shouldn't have been housed with an Anole which was massive compared to him. This would have coursed stress and the fact he couldn't eat because they weren't giving him the right size live food. Amphibians need CLEAN water to stay healthy and they don't have this!! I should have never got the frog from here but I actually care about frogs and felt like I needed to take him away from the shop. I will never ever return to this shop and hope people will read this and not risk buying an amphibian from here.

We had bought 2 tortoises from this place and within a few months one of our tortoises health was declining which we could not find a cause for this. When returning to the place we had purchased them we got a reply that they are simply all different so when taking him elsewhere to get a health check we had found about 10 to 20 things that we were actually told wrong. I would extremely not recommend buying a reptile from here as the information we was told was either incorrect, only relevant to an adult, or just completely not told about.

I went in there today and I had questions and he answered them!! The woman was friendly and the prices was good!! Brought live food for my bearded dragon!! Definitely will be returning

Fab shop always have great stock of reptile food. Wonderful knowledgeable staff for all reptile and fish needs! A fantastic hidden gem!

This shop used to be really good when they first moved to the new shop a couple of doors up from the old shop but has steadily declined over time with a decline in reptile availability and stocking levels plus a sharp incline in unreasonable prices this has turned me off from the place for the most part I'll use it for essentials now and again but use swell reptiles for my reptile bits and pieces mostly it's such a shame but whenever your in there you either feel like your being watched or he'll spin you a load of rubbish to get money out of you he's either very old school or just plain arrogant and ignorant either way it's not a good look to a customer especially one can see through the contradictions and poor advice because of a failure to want to expand your knowledge and learn more about the hobby that added to not being bothered about giving you advice unless it involves money means I can't give it anymore than a 2 star the only reason it's not a 1 star is because the animals are fairly well looked after but these days he doesn't stock many reptiles and inverts anyway

I buy fish supplies from here. The staff are welcoming and helpful. The goods are reasonably priced. The fish are healthy and well kept.

Helpful staff

Staff are unhelpful. Shop is dirty, so are the aquariums and vivariums. Please give the animals and creatures fresh water.

Animals kept in dirty vivariums, staff are rude and have no people skills. All the looks and promise of being a good place but unfortunately it is not!

It looks like it used to be a really good store and was quite busy. So much thought has been given to the reptile environment and enclosures but it has got very cobwebby and dusty. There was a lady sweeping the floor to within an inch of its life but she just needed to put that kind of effort above her eye level. In the fish room there is also a lot of hair algae in the tanks and on the plants which is a shame and did put me off making a purchase. The staff also seemed disinterested and inconvenienced when you want to select an item off the shelf and make a purchase.

Healthy fish and animals taken care of, however the Staff need some training in customer service, very unwelcoming and moody. not very accomodating at all. Shop also feels very tired.

If I could give this petshop 0 stars I would. It was unclean and didn't look like a great environment for the Amphibians. Please be wary of buying them and mixing them with your other amphibians!

Visited this store to find my son his first pet. Store assistant was extremely rude and unhelpful. Instead chose to sit on his seat and play games on his tablet. Horrendous service provided.
