Nestled in the heart of Toulouse, the Muséum de Toulouse is a true gem that seamlessly weaves together the wonders of nature and the marvels of science. My recent visit left me thoroughly impressed, and I can confidently say that this museum stands out as a captivating destination for all ages. The Muséum de Toulouse boasts an extensive collection that spans the realms of paleontology, botany, zoology, and anthropology. The well-curated exhibits showcase a harmonious blend of educational content and immersive displays, making it an enriching experience for both enthusiasts and casual visitors. One of the standout features of the museum is its commitment to interactive learning. From hands-on exhibits for children to cutting-edge digital installations for adults, the Muséum strikes a perfect balance that fosters curiosity and engagement. The incorporation of modern technology, such as interactive touchscreens and virtual reality, enhances the learning experience and brings the exhibits to life in a way that is both educational and entertaining. The paleontology section, in particular, is a highlight. The meticulously reconstructed dinosaur skeletons and fossils provide a fascinating journey through prehistoric times. The attention to detail and the informative signage make it easy for visitors to grasp the significance of each specimen, appealing to both experts and novices alike. The botanical gardens surrounding the museum are a tranquil oasis in the midst of the city. The well-maintained green spaces offer a welcome respite, inviting visitors to relax and absorb the natural beauty. It's a thoughtful addition that complements the museum experience and allows for a holistic exploration of the wonders of the natural world. The Muséum's commitment to conservation and environmental awareness is evident throughout the exhibits. Themes of sustainability and the impact of human activity on the planet are seamlessly integrated into the displays, encouraging visitors to reflect on their role in preserving our ecosystems. The staff at the Muséum de Toulouse are not only knowledgeable but also passionate about their subjects. Their enthusiasm is contagious, and they are always ready to share insights and answer questions, adding a personal touch to the overall experience.

It’s a very interesting museum with natural history and science. The most fascinating part is definitely the animal specimens. Since it’s only the beginning of March, the garden is not attractive at all, which I totally understand. For non-French speakers, the museum provides very minimum demonstration or introduction in English. However, it’ll still take you around 2.5 hours to visit.

In itself it's pretty cool, but I've been to many museum in europe and this is the first one that had basically zero English anywhere, so unless you know french (or want to pay 40 bucks for a guided tour in English) maybe don't go

Loved the collection here. It is a great place to visit for all ages, be it children, mid adults or even older adults. The place has something for everyone. The made up pieces, few originals, everything.. the second floor has the animal stages of life brilliantly displayed. The animals and the categories are something you will have to spend a lot of time into. There is no hurry, the bone sculptures are really well maintained. The price is reasonable, not out of the box. At the end, you'll come out feeling that what you got is worth the money spent.

Nice stuff. Although the permanent exhibitions are only in French , the museum is very well designed.

I think I would have enjoyed more if I knew french, because everything written about the attractions are in french. Of course, you can always translate nowadays so its not really a problem, but it takes more time to do it. Despite of that, it was a very nice experience and the place is very well organized. I liked it a lot.

This is a short walk from the Palace of Justice metro and tram stop. There is a charge but we had tourist tickets for the day which was part of the deal. The museum and associated gardens were ok. There was no translations which was not helpful!

Very nice museum. It has very different sections from a huge variety of animals to earth plaquettes and science.. Most stuff are only explained in French, thus the 1 point deduction. It also has a nice garden with different types of trees which is nice to walk in.. In general would recmend as it offers good value for money

This museum holds a beautiful collection of stuffed and otherwise preserved creatures. The boards of shells and insects are stunning. I've been twice and don't seem to find time for the later parts of the museum. It's modern and interactive. I couldn't get the app/website with English language location based stuff to work for my son, 11, who does not read french but he still had a great time.

Surprisingly good museum, even for English speakers. I was expecting a catalog of extracts from its colonial years. But it was modern, attuned to the moment, and interactive.

Interesting museum with natural history & science, every first week of the months we will get free entrance for permanent exhibitions museum I like to be in the animal specimens area. All explanation are in french which is not tourist friendly, like museum provides very minimum demonstration or introduction in English. But overall worth to visit here!

Amazing exhibits. This was really fun and made me smile 🙂🙂 Great for the entire family, and the Jardin des Plantes is an amazingly beautiful Greenspan with a lot of kids playing and people lounging and relaxing on the grass and under the trees. First place to visit in Toulouse. Dedicate whole day for your own satisfaction.

  • 4/5 Evandros T. 6 months ago on Google
The star rating is not representative of the museum but i had to leave a feedback to mention that you cannot get inside the museum with a back pack if its a bit big or of course any luggage as they do not have a storage to leave your things. It is reasonable due to the valuables inside the museum and the guard was really kind

Amazing museum, has 4 permanent expositions and a temporary one. The cost ( with a student discount) was 8€. You can, with the same ticket, also visit a botanical garden with a couple of greenhouses. Recommend especially for people with kids.

This museum has an awesome collection, very well displayed and friendly staff , that's why i hate to say this but in 2023 in such a visited museum in such a touristic city i don't get why they don't put proper explanations in other languages, at least english , i got bored of having to use google translator 80% of the time, yes they do have audioguide but i just want to look at the showcase and know what im looking at right away, i visited this museun right after the archeological one and there they have explanations of pretty much everything in english and spanish, unforgiveable.

This is a great museum and definitely worth a visit. The only issue that I experienced was the language. There was nothing in English or translations, which makes it difficult to follow.

Good place to spend a few hours with a app in 3 languages available inside the museum so bring air pods. We did not know about this before we went. Food and drinks in restaurant. Was not busy when we visited.

It is ok to visit and spend around 1:30 hour, but it's not friendly for tourists that don't speak French, because all the museum explaination exhibits are in French!

We were excited to come, but then learned that the permanent exhibits are only in French. Really, would it be so hard for the museum to accommodate international guests? Sadly, we'll skip and spend our money elsewhere.

Très déçu de ne pas avoir pu rentrer pour suivre la conférence sur le cerveau du jeudi 16 mars qui ne sera même pas retransmise. Personnel inflexible alors que certaines personnes viennent de petaouchnok pour assister à cette conférence

Its free entry on first Sunday of the month. Nice place to spend a day with your family. Exhibits are really interesting, specially the life size replica of different animals species.

As an English visitor I really enjoyed the content of the museum. It would have been nice to have had some more hands-on activities for younger children.

A nice museum to visit, you have a collection of animals, cultural things from all over the world, and it offers two or three floors of things to see and learn. Very nice museum to check out while in Toulouse

A huge variety of animals both skeletons and preserved. Such a wonderful collection. Well displayed and full of excitement. Not just for little ones. So much for the big kids and growed ups. I loved this museum. There are SO many details in that place. And the entrance fee is cheap. Also there is a great garden outside the museun that you can sit and enjoy the nice view. I spent 4 hours in this museum. I will visit again in the future.

Incredibly interesting museum of natural history! Very interactive and fun. If you're in Toulouse definitely visit it because it doesn't take long (1-2h depending on your curiosity )

  • 2/5 chiara 1 year ago on Google
Museum is really nice and definitely worth. However I am giving only 2 stars because all the descriptions were in French ONLY. We basically were unable to fully appreciate the visit for a language barrier.

  • 2/5 Michal K. 1 year ago on Google
Content - if I would speak French I would give 5 stars. But... I paid the full price but benefited less than 50%. Long story short - the museum is the example of discrimination of non-French speakers. If you do not speak French , don't waste your time here. I felt like 2nd class person. I felt someone cheated me. The whole pernament exhibit is only for French speakers. There is an app in English but it doesn't have all exhibits. Google translator didn't work too well due to lack of light (so cannot make good photos of the text) and poor Internet in the museum. No English / Spanish / German info The temporary exhibit is much better as there are some English translations. That's the only reason why I have 2 stars instead of one star.

While the collection and museum in general is nice, we got very little from it as all the text was only in french, they provided a "audioguide" on an app, but it was unuseable and had very little to tell. Not really for tourists if you care for more than just looking.

Huge collection, really well presented and our bonus was that entry was free because it was the first Sunday in the month.

  • 5/5 Liz J. 1 year ago on Google
The permanent exhibit is all in French but very cool display of animals and resources on the planet. The museum has a rotating exhibit that usually is in Spanish and English as well as French. The mummy exhibit I saw was a 10/10. Loves it.

Was nice in December 2012 still the best place to go with the kids, especially during heat waves. For more stars one nice cafe/lunch; and one beautiful botanic garden, small but nice and fresh.

  • 4/5 Antonio N. 9 months ago on Google
Pretty good museum. We could highlight the huge collection of insects. Unfortunately apart from the skeletons the animals are reproductions and not taxidermy. Be sure you arrive at the last part of African artifacts with time.
