It is mostly outdated. Some parts were rennovated, but even they need improvement. Information is scarce, almost no interaction. Sad to see interesting things arranged in strange fashion and without intertaining description.

The museum is located in the hysterical estate of Shukin built in pseudo Russian style at the turn of XIX-XX century and has its unique atmosphere. It's collection represents excellent taxidermy, unique objects or developmental anomalies, paleontology and botany, anthropological reconstructions, dioramas and bio groups, sea shells and mushrooms' dummies. We were at family quest in the museum (kid's ticket 250 rub., Adults buy only the entrance ticket). The tasks were varied, adapted to the different ages of participants. It was interesting and achievable. We liked it and plan to visit new events.

This museum has the time machine. If you really want to dive into the obsolete and outdated Soviet style of presenting things, you need their exhibition. Everything from the ticket office to the shop with souvenirs should have been done up yesterday / a year ago/ five years ago etc. This is outlandish to preserve this style in the 21st century. On the other hand, the cost of the ticket is around 3 dollars, so you pay for what you see.

We went during a special event for children. Normally I'm not a fan of looking at poor dead stuffed animals, but they had lots of great activities for younger children that my daughter loved. Also live reptiles and a few other creatures that they could touch. Interesting building in itself as well. Would recommend looking at their website to see what other events are taking place throughout the year. Go early though, as the queue can get huge.

It was fine, not sure I think I would go back until kids were a couple years older. Was okay for my 2 and 4 year old, better for slightly older. Cafe was so so for food

We visited the museum as part of Museum Week. The building is magically beautiful, but unfortunately it is in a slight state of disrepair; I would like to see it treated with more care. Inside there is a Soviet spirit, in some places it would be nice to update the exhibits, but this is also a plus, you can feel the history. A 7-year-old child was pleased with the visit, but noted that the museum is small (compared to Darwin, for example), however, modern children are not used to standing in front of exhibits for a long time and reading signs. But maybe this is for the better, because some of the exhibits can frighten adults (cutaway hedgehog cats, alcoholized hearts of people with pathologies, a dummy of Pavlov’s experimental dog, etc.), but on the other hand, without this knowledge, how can one understand how the structure works? life? I was pleased that there were even exhibits in the toilet, a whole showcase on a toilet theme, I’ve never seen anything like this.

We were a family on a day off. There are few people, the price is 300 rubles per adult. The museum is excellent, a 7-year-old child looked at the exhibits with such enthusiasm. We were very pleased. None of the staff are overbearing, you can look and study everything with pleasure.

A wonderful cozy museum with cozy people. Exhibition for “several visits”. A great place for an excursion with kids. Several rooms for schoolchildren to study anatomy. Wonderful rooms for excursions on the course of general biology and evolution. Total: walk and walk! The kids really liked it! Thanks to the attentive and hospitable staff! ❤️

Today we attended two interactive lessons with the second grade: The Scarlet Flower and Mysteries of the Sea. It's just a delight! Incredible involvement of the guides and teachers, very interesting, simple and exciting presentation of the material. The children were not at all tired and were ready to work harder. Many thanks to all the museum staff and especially to our two wonderful guides.
