This is not a 4 star hotel it’s 3 stars at best. The rooms lack most amenities like minibar, toiletries, stationary and even room service menu. When I asks I was told “scan the QR code if you want something” but this didn’t work well. The staff are poorly trained and there is such a staff shortage so that on the weekend they don’t even answer the phone at reception. Many of the gym facilities are closed due to staff shortage and the cleaning is outsourced to about 4 different agencies so all day you are being disturbed by different teams knocking at the door to service different aspects of the room. I will not stay here again and it’s making me reconsider Marriott as an option elsewhere.

If you are ever planning to stay this hotel PLEASE PLEASE RECONSIDER YOUR DECISION. I stayed in here for 3 days and oh lord what I encountered was shameful for such a big chain of hotel like Marriott. The hotel informed me they had a contract with the parking but i had to pay 20 Euros per day. I agreed and parked my car there. The next day I inform the receptionist to contact the parking operator to open the gate as I have an important business meeting to attend. The receptionist calls and informs me that the parking lot disagreed to open the gate and hung up the phone on his face. I told him it is not my problem what goes on between the hotel and parking management, I need my car out of that parking because there's a business meeting I need to catch up. He said sorry I can do nothing about it but I can only remove the parking fees for you as a compensations. what a problem solver. I had to take a taxi cab and my car was stuck in there for the whole day for a reason that I barely know why.

This hotel was perfectly situated in Bonn, in a quiet and peaceful area but still a short distance by bus/tram to the city centre. The staff were friendly and were able to communicate in English. The room was clean and spacious; there were some amenities in the room and I was able to request additional amenities easily with quick delivery. The open / communal areas were also super clean and spacious, with enough seating for the guests.

We used to come very often to this hotel. The location is great and the facilities pretty. The service has, however always been poor. This was the last time, they really fed me up now. The employees have no training at all. Nobody would ever pick up the phone. When you are in the hotel and call reception or room service they just don’t answer. When you try to call from outside they don’t answer either. Last week there was a huge event. And we the only available room was the presidential suite. We took it just because it’s close to our family, my wife is pregnant and we didn’t want to try anything new. It was TERRIBLE. Paying a fortune for the room didn’t make any difference… The shower was not working, it’s a digital system and I couldn’t make it any colder or warmer, even worse I couldn’t make it stop. Nobody would pick up the phone. I had to let the water run and go down from floor 16 to reception to let them know. I had a meeting couldn’t order any coffee to the room. My pregnant wife went down to order it and said I was in a meeting so they should knock the door and just come in and leave it by my desk. Guess what? They continued ringing at the door until I had to stop my meeting and open the door… then they left her new bathrobe in a broken plastic bag on the floor! Not enough? Well they do not only not pick up the phone they call me in the room when they know I am in a meeting to confirm the order my wife just placed in person at the reception. This hotel is a shame to Marriotts chain. Marriott should do something to train its personnel or just remove the right to use their bran!

Very small room with a single bed in standard room. Gave a 2 star hotel feel in 5 star. I have been to lot better Marriot hotels in different countries but Bonn was a bad experience unfortunately! Breakfast was the only good think there :)

Exceptionally superb. Great selection of food in the Executive lounge, restaurant and bar. The wellness area is one of the best in Germany. Pool, sauna, and gym are clean and in excellent condition. Variety of good and well maintained equipment. With perfect view of the Rhine river. Our favorite Marriott spa hotel!

I am using the Mariott Bonn hotel for my business meetings and always enjoy the service. Location wise it is perfect due to being close to the business area of Bonn, it is close to the Rhine which provides fantastic views. The city center is easy to get to by foot (35min) or using public transport. The rooms are of the quality to expect from a Mariott. Definitely a recommendation for business meetings in Bonn (easy parking also for EV's nearby) or even a leisure trip.

Service Services Service....... This hotel showed excellence when having to deal with a very late arrival at 3am. Nothing was in-between me and the bed I needed. Check in was friendly / welcoming, efficient and fast. The quality of the hotel needs no comment. Excellent. Travelling with more than 200 nights in hotels per year - this was one of the remarkable experiences. Thank you

Our stay at Marriott Bonn was a real pleasure. Very nice room, well furnished, impeccably proper, and with great view (only the bed was a little too soft for us). Service and reception staff very kind and helpful. Great Spa with Sauna. We plan to return and spend more days and explore the city and neighbourhood.

Nice hotel but dirty rooms. The common areas are nice and modern but the rooms are a bit old and extremely dusty under the bed, behind TV. Also the carpets in the hallways and lounge

Nice hotel with a view of the Rhine from certain rooms. I had a delux room with Rhine view and it was well laid out with reasonable facilities. However it was let down a little with no coffee machine and no treats of any form provided in the room. Just basic kettle. For a delux room, this was a little bit disappointing. They also tried to charge additional city tax on top of prepaid fee, even though the prepay clearly included the tax accordingly. I didn't notice this until I had left the hotel, but when I phoned them, they refunded without too much problem. With a few minor changes, they could make this hotel a lot better.

Seems Marriott didn’t get what I mean. Let me rephrase: the picture above bed is so creepy. Make sure you don’t stay in room 1301! —— The art selection of room 1301 is next level. A good sleep guaranteed. Sink is defected but was fixed the second day. The room I got is not what I booked.

Stayed here for 4 nights, to give background we are coming from non- European country. Cons: - we had a king bed- it was the most uncomfortable bed we’ve ever stayed at. It was super hard, the sheet underneath was not soft to touch at all, and the duvet cover barely fit the bed. We travel a lot so we have stayed in thousands of hotels, mostly Marriott branded, if you are looking for that feeling you get when you lay down in a nice hotel, soft, fluffy duvet- this is not it. The only way we made it work was to ask for 2 extra duvet covers, we used the existing to add cushion to the bed, and we each used one to cover with. - parking: parking is 20 euro per night in a garage that connects to the hotel. It is small and a lot of times we had to drive it a couple times to find a spot, the other thing is that it takes FOREVER To get the elevator to go down to the parking, at some point we had to wait close to 10 minutes to get an elevator, no stairs accessible to get to it (it is one level below the lobby). There is no option to street park so you are forced to pay for parking. - smoking: we know people in Europe overall smoke a lot, they obviously don’t allow it in the lobby, but EVERY TIME you step out of the lobby there are at least 2 people smoking right where anyone going in or out has to walk through or wait for taxi or car. They really should designate an area away from the main entrance, or prohibit smoking right outside of the hotel. Trash can: somebody else mentioned it but there is only one tiny trash can by the toilet, no trash can by the sink or the bedroom/ had to walk around every time to throw things out. Service- fair, not welcoming, or anything above and beyond. We had 6 suitcases , asked for cart (didn’t have one at the time), we had to figure it out on our own- no concern about it. Pros: - overall location is 10 minutes from the city center by car. There are not a lot of areas you can walk to though, mostly by car or public transit. - we were upgraded (have status) to a suite which was a very big room with 2 areas (bedroom and dining are). That room had a mini fridge although it wasn’t working. - shower was big, very hot water. - breakfast was included in our visit, this was a pro and a con. There are a lot of options but the 5 days we were there, it was the same so it got old. (They have scrambled eggs, hard-boiled eggs, option to order omelette which was nice, bacon and sausage, cold cuts of meat and cheese, a lot of different options for breads and pastries. Cooked vegetables that did not change were mushrooms and tomato’s). Cereals, different milk options (non dairy), oatmeal, etc. overall breakfast is great and I can see someone loving it for 1-2 days, wish they could change the hot dishes from time to time. Gym/ sauna: they have a big area for sauna, indoor pool, and fitness area. Sauna is only open from 10-10 ( most hotels we stayed at in Europe, sauna is open 24/7). For the gym, you are not allowed to use any of the chip- only machines (leg presses, chest/ shoulder press) as it is only for “members of the gym” - we think the spa/gym area is a separate business maybe that hotel guests have access to, overall sauna area was nice, but refer back to elevator comment/ to get down there and back to your room, you will have to wait for a while.

It’s a sure sign of quality that as a weary business traveler I smiled from ear to ear when my booking came through. After a pandemic-starved travel schedule, I was once again returning to Marriott; my old favourite. It was to be Bonn this time. The room was clean and spacious. The bathroom was immaculate and stocked with my favourite hotel toiletries; “This Works” really does work, if you ask me. The staff welcomed me with open arms and the view over the Rhine in autumn filled me with glee. A breakfast table fit for a king awaited in the morning. It was going to be perfect, but then things went a bit awry. We need to talk about dinner. German food often gets an unfairly bad press that your restaurant has apparently chosen to uphold. A salad starter with a hockey puck of goats cheese on a bed of watery lawn clippings? A miniature lump of salmon cooked to a dry death, and then some. A sauce of tarragon and mustard so sour it might as well be laced with battery acid, and all this accompanied by lukewarm lentils. “Lukewarm” is not a word you ever want to read on a menu. My neighbour ordered the beef and together we wept over her pavé, so overdone it should go back to cobbling a street. We also need to talk about the room. How many flies need to accumulate in an eye-level lamp fitting before someone decides to clean it? Marriott, what has happened to you? All the eager staff were trying so hard to make our party happy, but the attention to detail that once excited my conviction that I would always be safe in your hands has gone. In a final cruel twist, you close your rooftop bar on Mondays, just when I most needed an Old Fashioned. It broke my little heart. Marriott, is it over between us? Are you breaking up with me? Or are you trying to teach me that we don’t live in a perfect world?

Great Place. easy to be found. hotel is nice and very quiet. Rooms are very big all absolutely functional. no need to put your room card into the wall holder to turn on your electricity that was huge +. bathroom is big and with heated floor, shower has perfekt button operated shower head everything super easy to understand and operate. bed was very comfortable and plenty space to work whole day from the room. internet was stable and fast. easy parking in the underground parking. Breakfast was very delicious and plenty to choose from. few downsides, console for the AC was lit up whole night which was a bit disturbing only way to turn off was to turn off the AC. there are elevators but only two go to -1 to the garage. to get the elevator that brings you to garage you have to press button marked as garage and then your desired way down but still few times happened that wrong elevator came. this could be improved. location is not the best or better to say views aren't the highlight here. still highly recommend.

This is a very nice business-class hotel. The location is directly on the Rhein river which makes it great for walks and/or exercise. The spa attached to the property is terrific and is accessible for hotel guests. My only complaint pertains to the restaurants and food. The breakfast is average and the restaurants have a very limited menu for lunch/dinner. I recommend this hotel.

Marriott Bonn is located by the river in Bonn, and a 30-minute drive from the Cologne-Bonn airport, CGN. The hotel is next to UN and government buildings and has a huge conference centre attached. There are both museums and parks close by but you will have to use public transport for shopping and restaurants. The hotel is modern with a nice airy lobby and one level up is the executive lounge that provides drinks and canapés from 6pm in the evening. The main restaurant is located on the lobby level and there is a panorama bar at the top floor. The indoor pool and the fitness centre is at the basement level. The gym is large and well equipped and it's a 12 meter pool. The rooms are nice and big and well planned, I do recommend the corner suites so you get both the space and the views. The hotel is a good base for exploring the area and if you want to go into town, then it is a 10-minute walk to the tram and another 7 minutes to get to the main station.

I was attending a conference at the nearby convention center so this hotel was perfect for that purpose. It is a bit removed from other tourist spots other than the KunstMuseum.... I booked a corner suite and it was enormous! The staff at the hotel was very helpful and provided great service - especially Fawad at the front desk! We also enjoyed dinner twice at the top level Konrad restaurant with lovely views of the river (though it was night time). The staff was very accommodating when we arrived 10 minutes before closing time after a long travel day.

Unfortunately, this Marriott does not meet the expectations of a hotel of this brand. We have been to several Marriott hotels at home and abroad. Accordingly, we had certain expectations of this hotel. Many small things have led to the fact that we were not really satisfied with our stay. First the positive points: - The hotel is quite nicely located, only a few minutes walk from the banks of the Rhine. But beware: it is a good 2.5km to the city center, along the Rhine! - Due to our status, we got an upgrade to a room on one of the upper floors with a view of the Rhine. We liked the view very much. It doesn't fall under "once in a lifetime view" now. But it is nice to look out over the river, watch the boats on it, and let your eyes wander along the bank. - The hotel offers an indoor pool and a relatively large gym. We didn't like that as much: - The staff was (to put it nicely) friendly reserved. This started at check-in. There, "service by the book" was done. But nothing more. This impression continued throughout the entire stay. Only the nice staff in the Executive Lounge has struck us positively. But that was it. - The room was nice and big. But other attributes that we know from Marriott, there was not. Little things, but they add up. Washcloths for example or other amenities in the bathroom. It was also strange that there was only one trash can in the bathroom. It was next to the toilet. So you always had to walk with your trash from the sink to the toilet to get rid of it. A second trash can in the bathroom would have been great. As would a second coat hook. But the calculation double room=two coat hooks did not work out. It was also a bit strange that there was an ice bin, also the matching bags. But where is the ice machine? There was coffee powder, but no tea. And for stirring there were wooden sticks. Just as we would have expected a capsule machine, real spoons would have been nice here. The room cleaning was rather poor. The cleanliness was ok. But for one thing, the room was not done until late afternoon, which is too late in our opinion. Then some towels were changed, others not, etc. - Breakfast was ok. Basically there were the basics and everywhere 1,2 things on top. We only discovered the sign that there were egg dishes to order on the second day. The breakfast room has the atmosphere of a canteen. The tables and chairs are close together. It is loud and lively. More like a youth hostel. All in all, this hotel is more of a Courtyard hotel in our eyes, to stay in the Marriott universe, than a Marriott.

Had one of the worst experience in Europe. A woman was knocking my door daily at 5AM asking if I ordered coffee and the last day, a man entered to my room while I was still sleeping. When I complained to the hotel reception, their reaction was: we are recruiting a local company and they are foreigners. We are not responsible of the cleaning staff. The reply was not acceptable, a 4* hotel cannot say It is not my responsibility… In addition, the sink was defected, and there was a water flowing from the roof…

The staff did a great job (April 1-2), but there are petty management issues I have to resolve. 1) I did not receive my points for the stay. 2) Our stay was under 200 Euros, but the initial credit card pending charge was over 400 Euros. If I stay at only Marriott for a one week trip, will they tie up my credit card with over 2 weeks worth of pending charges? Or is this a Bonn-only policy?

I have stayed in this hotel more than 20 nights. The breakfast is good, but they completely fail when it comes to room upgrades for platinum Bonvoy members. On two separate occasions they failed to upgrade me to a suite, despite there being rooms available. Also, most of the netting on the windows is broken.

I stayed 2 nights in this nice hotel for business in the middle of May 2022. Staff was very welcoming, friendly and willing to help. The room was very comfortable and provided the amenities I'm usually looking for. I slept well, the bed was comfortable too. Bathroom with Italian shower was great. Nice view of the city and Rhin river from the rooftop bar and restaurant. The conference center is very close. Public transport is available within a 5 minutes walk. Definitely would come back if I'm going to go Bonn.

We had a very pleasant 3 night stay at this hotel. Although I was there for business, it did feel like a leisure trip because of the great facilities at the hotel. Rooms are spacious, modern and clean. Staff is friendly and generally helpful. Pool, gym and sauna included with the room rates. Nice restaurant, bar and very complete breakfast. My wife joined me and worked from the hotel room without any issues. I will definitely stay here again if I need to be in the area. City center is about a 12 min taxi ride away.

Clean and decent breakfast, good location too. I was disturbed 3 times by separate staff members who came to my room to ask what time I’d be checking out, even though I had already agreed with the concierge on a later checkout time (as per my bovoy status). Was very disruptive. Other than that the staff were pleasant.

Our Family of 5 stayed 1 night at the Marriot Bonn while Bicycle Touring. We checked out the pool and gym but didnt use them. Both of them looked very nice although geared towards adults as opposed to kids. The hotel recognized my Marriott status and provided an upgraded room which the kids loved. We parked our bikes in the rack outside the front of the hotel. The lounge was open and had a decent happy hour. Grocery store was a short ride away. Staff were great.

nice, but smallish rooms. lounge is a separated area in the restaurant... IT was not working. I was not recognized as a titanium member and I had to ask for lounge access. Breakfast is basic European style. gym is ok, but small. did not feel like a luxury hotel, but like a business or airport hotel

I was waiting 50 min for check in at midnight just because I did not have credit card while I have already paid for the room. The lady from the stuff was checking in other people (who arrive after me!) and made me wait just because she did not know how they can check me in while the room was already paid! A colleague of mine with who I was staying found a bin full of used sanity pads in her room.... For such price I would expect way better service...

Great hotel but poor service. It took more than 1 hours to bring me non allergic pillows. Then when I asked to get at least a xl bathrobe, they told me they had only M which is not true cause we had 2 different ones in the room. They said they would check but I never heard back. The breakfast room was packed, way to small for 17 floors!

  • 3/5 Adriana Z. 2 years ago on Google
The decor of the rooms is really old-fashioned (70's style), the rooms are small with a small double bed, and wall-to-wall carpeting 🤮. No bath and the big shower didn't work properly. On the positive side, the food was good and the staff was friendly, except for the people at the Spa, who were surly. The location was ok, near the Rhine, but if you want to eat elsewhere or see any sites, it's a long walk or a taxi ride away.

Bonn Mariott was really comfortable. I enjoyed the sauna and spa and the lovely restaurant upstairs with had a beautiful view of the rivers and sunset. i stayed there for 3 nights and ate there for my stay as there was no where else to go and it was perfect. Also that it was very close to my meeting place at the UN, so it worked out great.
