I am the first female single traveler (Japanese female) to visit Somalia proper, Mogadishu. I contacted Visit Mogadishu a few months before my trip. Mr. Omar of Visit Mogadishu soon replied to me with all my questions answered, in particular, the safety and security of Somalia. Constant communication with him helped me overcome fears and concerns. He even introduced me a recent traveler and I got the latest information from him. Visit Mogadishu provided me with all I needed including a professional English speaking tour guide, a hotel in the city guarded by many security guards, a good car and three security guards travelling with me in my car + lunch, snack, dinner, ice cream and water melon juice. I had three glasses of water melon juice in one day. You cannot miss it. My visa was organized by Visit Mogadishu beforehand and I received “entry permit” by email. I was able to enter Somalia with this entry permit without questions. I was picked up at Mogadishu airport in the morning and I had a morning sightseeing tour. I then checked in the hotel and had lunch at the hotel. I then had a tour in the afternoon. My tour included Lid Beach, Lighthouse, Camel Camp, shopping and many more. I did not have any problems while travelling. Local people were very friendly, and food was delicious, but I had to wear a scarf to cover my hair in some places. I have visited all 195 countries on earth. My travel experience in Somalia is truly enjoyable and unforgettable. Somalia (Mogadishu) is now safe to visit and Visit Mogadishu will help you organize your tour and visa. I strongly recommend Visit Mogadishu to all travelers. I give five stars to Visit Mogadishu!!!

as an esteemed client of the airline, I must say I am so disappointed with the weekly emails of discounts that don't exist. For the past 1 month, I have been monitoring the rates, from the mail and I must say Ethiopian airline is not honest. Let me break it down: 1. On 1st Dec 2021, I received a 10% "special year end discount" mail. scrolling further down, Nairobi-Hargeisa return flight was indicated as 112,228 ksh. 2. Fast forward to 14th January, I get another 10% "Special New year Discount" mail for the same route, now at 117,199 ksh. 3. Barely a week later, today the 19th of January, I get a 12% "4-day Flash sale discount" for the same route, now at 122,420 ksh. In about a month, the rates, after the alleged discounts, have gone up by 10,192 Ksh (about 100$). Cmon Ethionpian Airlines!!!!!!

Ethiopian Airlines staff at Hargeisa Airport tried to stop me from boarding my flight to Addis Ababa coz my ticket was a one-way ticket to Addis Ababa! Why do I need a return ticket to Hargeisa while I intend to proceed to another city? Those staff are just scammers and thugs in a uniform. I do respect Ethiopian Airlines, and I'm a frequent traveller, but the sinister attitude of those scammers will definitely change my mind and seek other alternative airlines!

I visited Mogadishu in May 2019. I thought visiting Somalia would be next to impossible due to safety issues. However, from the moment I was picked up from the airport, it didn't feel that dangerous anymore thanks to Visit Mogadishu. They know very well where you can go, where you can step out of the car, which hotel you should stay at, etc. They are very vigilant and careful so you feel in good hands. The trip was obviously a once in a lifetime experience, I put many stories on my fb page for a sneak peak. The accommodation and the food was very good. It was probably one of the best trips I had so far. These guys are doing a great job indeed.

Somalia Proper has been the Holy Grail for adventurous travelers. About a year ago I started looking for ways and means to get to Somalia independently, however, overwhelming evidence suggested that a tour with a security team is a must in order to travel to Somalia. When trying to find a company that can arrange a safe tour for me, a solo female traveler, Visit Mogadishu came in sight as it was recommended by many of my hardcore travel friends. Now that I'm already back from my trip to Mogadishu, I can only say that I'm glad I've chosen them. Communication with them was easy and prompt. My questions and concerns were always answered quickly within a few hours. They were able to fulfill my requests in terms of hotel options and itinerary preference. Is Mogadishu safe? As far as I can see, it's business as usual. People carry out their daily life activities as they normally do -- Couples go to park after work, families enjoy the beach, younger generation work out at the gym, markets prosper, restaurants open, ... Of course that doesn't mean as a foreigner you could leisurely and casually roam on the streets. For all the places I've visited, we spent less than 15 minutes each except at the beach. The security guards are always following you in case situations arise. My personal favorite places to visit were the Light House and Fish Market. The fishes are humongous in size and they are very tasty too! I had fish in different cooking style every meal when I was in Mogadishu. Yes they are that good. Somalia has a lot of potential to be a touristy destination. It has the longest coast line in Africa with miles and miles of beautiful beaches. The people there are intelligent, hardworking, and resilient. I really hope the country can have peace, stay safe, and bloom prosperously.

I spent a weekend with Visit Mogadishu touring the city. It's not your typical tour, and you definitely need to adjust your expectations to spending a lot of time inside a vehicle with security as opposed to freely walking around, but it is a rare opportunity to visit a city that is still trying to fight for stability and security in a region fraught with conflict. In terms of communication, I am happy to say that Visit Mogadishu is quite responsive over email, which made arranging the trip easier.

Had a wonderful time with visit Mogadishu on a 3 days visit. We felt pretty secure the whole time with the arm guards, bullet proof car and guides. It is not cheap but safety is definitely main concern when visiting place like Mogadishu. We did the trip on a more leisurely pace as we have flown directly from US and a bit jet lagged. Omar and Ali took good care of us with hospitality and good food. You can’t go wrong by going directly with this local company.
