The name of the sculpture is Bosorka in Slovak, which means which. According to the artist, the sculpture is supposed to be a monument to all the women who were accused of witchcraft and you know what the result was when that happens in medieval times. It looks like the sculpture is trying to subvert the traditional image of a witch by depicting the woman as attractive with a luscious head of hair and scantily dressed. Beside her are a number of birds all staring admiringly at her.

The bronze sculpture of a witch is located on the slope of Bratislava Castle near the Orthodox Church of St. Nicholas. Personally, I really like it! - A woman with flowing hair and birds. When I first saw her and not knowing the name, I was sure that it was a woman - Spring.

The bronze statue of the Witch by the academic sculptor Tibor Bartfay has stood under the Bratislava Castle since 1989. The statue commemorates the fate of Agata Tootová-Barnabasová, who was unjustly convicted and executed for alleged witchcraft in 1602. They burned her in front of Michael's Gate, and this statue is a memory of this unfortunate event.

22/07/2017 - The statue has an atmosphere. I originally thought it was related to the Seven Crows rumor, but since there are 9 of them, it's more like Hitchcock and the Birds... :o)

Near the Nikolaisky (Mikulashev) Gate, next to the Church of St. Nicholas there is a small square with an observation deck, it is there that the famous “Witch” awaits you. The creation of the famous Slovak sculptor Tibor Bartfay. The second name of the sculpture is “Bosorka” (as witches were called in the Carpathians). The author showed us a girl with flowing hair, surrounded by crows, devotedly looking at the beauty. Tibor Bartfay himself emphasized that he created his “Bosorka” in memory of the “Bratislava witches who were unjustly convicted and burned in the Middle Ages.” If you meet her while walking around Bratislavagrad, feel free to sit on her lap and make a wish.

Witch of Bratislava. It is simply an allegory of all the women who died during the Middle Ages in Bratislava falsely accused of witchcraft.

Very exciting sculpture of the Slovakian witch Bosorka - allegoric bronze sculpture, created in 1989 by Tibor Bartfay, located on the castle hill next to Bratislava Castle. Tge sculpture is surrounded by a charming little park good for relaxation before going down the hill to the Old Town.

The statue was built to commemorate the burning of women in the Middle Ages, and the crows look at it with admiration. In fact, he knows this only; This statue represents the tale of the Seven Ravens. It is the story of a brave girl who undertakes the difficult task of saving her seven brothers, who were turned into ravens long ago by their vengeful mother.
