Quiet area, super friendly staff they was very welcoming. Room was perfect for a night away. Breakfast was amazing! I had the full English, and partner has the eggs benedict. Will definitely return in the future:)

Where to start? Thanking our lucky stars we were able to stay here in our hour(s) of need! Everyone we spoke to was personable, welcoming, and so friendly from the very first phone call; and it was like a weight lifted off our shoulders the second we walked in. The rooms are lovely and comfortable (the beds are wonderful and so are the pillows so ignore that other lunatic); yes the showers aren't like a pressure washer, but considering the amazing work done in a listed building, the electric showers are plenty. Rooms are spacious, fresh, and have loads of storage, and they manage being pet friendly without it being noticeable in the rooms. The building is set in beautiful grounds and I can't wait to see it in the summer, though it even had its charms whilst being battered by 80mph winds and driving rain. The passion and interest for the mill's history held by everyone that works here was infectious, and it was great to find out more about the historic site. Now, on to the FOOD. We sadly weren't able to enjoy the breakfast, but we ate here on two evenings and everything was delicious (and arrived with us promptly). Hands down the best burger I've ever had. I've never eaten anywhere that's managed to produce a burger that shows complexity of flavours without creating either a sloppy and/or tasteless mess as the end result; but the chef here did it perfectly. All the ingredients are fresh and tasty, and the menu is put together thoughtfully with something for everyone. The chap working front of house was an absolute legend and gave us great recommendations; and along with the owners made us feel so welcome. So glad we're local and can't wait to come back again. ♥️ Thank you!

Where do I start? Everything exceeded our expectations from start to finish. The friendliness and hospitality of the staff were second to none from being met at the door, to asking about dinner options in the area on a Sunday evening, to extending our room for an hour. Outside, the layout is very pleasing to the eye, with two separate playgrounds - one within a large gated area housing chickens and geese, through which a picturesque stream runs. The rooms were large and immaculate, with what looked like all new furnishings and fixtures. Our friends took the balcony room which had a large balcony covered in astroturf with a beanbag and table which would have been perfect for group chilling if we had a bit more time! It had an amazing view of the waterwheel and Basil the resident goose. Our room was the family room, which had a double and single bed, and a spacious bathroom including a vanity. Each of the rooms contained a tiny fridge which housed a complementary pint of fresh milk for our teas and coffees. The complementary cooked breakfasts were very clearly cooked using quality ingredients, which was apparent in the taste, and the presentation was equal to that of a trendy city brunch spot. Every aspect of this Inn felt like it was done with great deliberation and consideration for the enjoyment and comfort of their guests. This will be my go-to place to stay in the Peak District for times to come.

Summary: a must visit pub! Food: all the food is incredibly tasty, locally sourced and handmade on site. There are two menus, fine dining and more causal dining which have a lot of choice for people of all dietary requirements. Drinks: lots of choice, indoor and outdoor bar. There is a beautiful outdoor area to sit and enjoy a drink after a day in the country. Atmosphere: the pub is perfect for everyone. There is an amazing play area for families with kids, lots of seating and a pub dog/rabbits/chickens. Location: excellent! Close to the peaks and lots of lovely hikes start from here. Lots of parking as well. Accommodation: nice double en-suite rooms with everything you need. Very clean and friendly staff.

Great place to stop for refreshments after a countryside walk. Very lively at weekends so booking for food might be advisable. Huge outdoor seating area with a fun play park for younger visitors. Fantastic location with lots of seating for everyone. You won't be disappointed!

Excellent stay, can't recommend it highly enough. The owners and staff are all very friendly, great atmosphere, fantastic location and dogs are made very welcome. The rooms are very clean, tidy and spacious, food is also very nice. If you have dogs and enjoy a good walk you won't find a better place to rest your legs after a day out. We will be back again.

We have been meaning to visit the little mill inn for a while now so we called in yesterday and we were not disappointed in any way. There is something for everyone like a big play area for children, outside dining as well as indoor a restful area where the stream just babbles along, very dog friendly also. The food we had was really nice and the staff were very friendly, can’t say enough about this place and will certainly be going back.

Went to the Little Mill Inn for a birthday lunch. It was wonderful the greeting when we arrived. Our table was near the lovely open fire. Our food delivered on hot plates which I love I don't like cold food except a salad. The waitress was also lovely too the staff are amazing. The food delicious fish/chips and I mean proper chips. The puds are to die for didn't know which one to choose. I would definitely recommend to visit this little pretty pub with proper good food. Will definitely be going there again.

Stayed for 2 nights. The room was very clean and very spacious with an amazing bathroom. The staff are really friendly and helpful too. Ate in the bar and the food, although a little pricey, was worth every penny; cooked fresh with local fresh ingredients. Delicious and good portions. For breakfast, which came with the room, I had Eggs Benedict and it was made with the tastiest ham I've ever eaten.....had it both mornings 😄 Would definitely recommend this place and will be returning myself in the future.

Excellent place! The Sunday dinner was absolutely delicious, the best I’ve had locally! And the deserts were equally as beautifully presented and tasty! The staff were amazing and the atmosphere was really nice! Definitely worth the little drive out!

Visited this pub on our last night in the Peak District, and what a way to end the trip!! Fantastic food and service. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. A lovely crackling fire, and visiting doggos just made for an even better atmosphere. Super friendly staff and locals all around. We were greeted and thanked by every staff member and made to feel like a local ourselves. So many local pubs make you feel like an outsider or awkward, but not this place! Would definitely come back! Thank you to our waitress whom we never got the name of for being so lovely!

What a lovely place and interesting story, amazing hosts and staff. The young staff were extremely friendly and knew their menu and even the abv of the beers ! The menu is very varied and lovely fresh produce used. The cheese & Onion pie was the best I have ever had, truly fantastic and I shall try and replicate it. We will be going back to taste more of the menu on our next visit to the North West.

What a great find! Tucked away, but worth the journey. Fantastic outdoor space - big kids playground, plenty of tables and a waterwheel to look at! Food is good quality, menu size shows its all homemade and fresh. Ham hock croquette starter was exceptional. Staff are very friendly and made our large party of babies and prams very welcome.

Having visited The Little Mill many years ago we decided to venture today & so pleased we did. We were seated near a lovely open fire mid afternoon. Myself & partner ordered the steak & Guinness pie with chunky chips, seasonal greens & a pot of gravy. We waited approximately 30 minutes, which was advised as it appears the food is all cooked fresh to order. We were not disappointed! All the food was piping hot & tasted amazing. It was the best pie I've ever eaten out. We followed with a vanilla sponge of the day dessert with custard. Well portioned & perfect again. Finished with coffees and heading home feeling fulfilled & content! We will definitely be heading back! Thank you!

Lovely pub, restaurant and b&b located in a very rural and scenic area within New Mills Parish boundaries. Great friendly and helpful staff. Great choice of drinks and food, also has a great outside seating area, in summer can eat and watch sports games outside. Pets welcome, also has a good sized carpark and a children's play area. Would highly recommend a visit.

What a wonderful place to stay. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff, who are very friendly and attentive. They are like one big family which began to feel a part of too. The breakfasts are superb with a great choice and the evening meals are delicious too. We originally booked for 4 nights but managed to stay one extra night...but such a shame we couldn't stay for the Sunday roast! It is the most dog friendly place I have stayed too. It is really well placed for walking too. We can't wait for our next visit.

Booked in for a meal last Saturday. Was a little disappointed not to be sat in the main area as there is little atmosphere in the side room. However, the food and service were both excellent. Mixed grill was the best I've ever had and well worth the money for how much you get. Steak was cooked perfect. My son had a burger which he said was great. All delivered with excellent service. Will definitely be back and will recommend to others.

Stayed for one night. Room was immaculate and well decorated. Rate included breakfast which was delicious. We ate dinner there which was really tasty and then had cocktails which were great . The staff were really friendly and there was a lovely atmosphere. Just a warning this is a dog friendly pub and the owners have 3 which wander around so if you don't like dogs it may not be for you. We loved it and would definitely return

The little mill is a lovely place it is a bit isolated. The food was really nice a bit expensive but nice. There is lots for children to do and things to play on when the weather is nice. The staff can't do enough for you and so friendly. We went on a Sunday it very busy but we were served very quickly. There were 11 of us and we all enjoyed it. Also might be a good idea if you book before you go. Roy Whittaker 👍

Really lovely location lots for the kids to do, went on a rainy day and they still had a blast was glad I bought spare changes of clothes. The food was delicious but menu is constantly changing so whatever is online isn't necessarily what you get when you get there. My hubby ordered the fish and chips and it looked like a whale on his plate, I had a full meal out of it as well as the children and he filled up too.

I can’t give a review on the rooms as I didn’t stay the night, but if the bar is anything to go off they must be amazing the staff are very friendly and the food well I had the stake and ale pie, chips, veg and gravy every mouthful was delightful, the beer is great 😊 grateful for the work the staff carry out here in making your visit as pleasurable as possible

We parked up here and went for a gorgeous frosty hike with the in-laws (cown edge this time, maybe laterns pike next time!). The four of us then ate at the pub and it was perfection. Not cheap, but proper generous portions of delicious food, good beer, friendly and attentive staff and a lovely cosy atmosphere. We would have stayed longer if it hadn't snowed as we were worried about ice on the roads getting home. Hope to return soon, or at least in spring as the outdoor area looked lovely too.

A wonderful rural pub with excellent food set in beautiful grounds. Had a wonderful meal here on a busy Sunday, service was understandably a little slow but accurate and efficient. A great team, fantastic menu and an amazing location

Spent the night at the Mill after having a wonderful meal with 2 friends. A fabulous 3-course meal, that did not disappoint. After a great evening in a very festive atmosphere we retired to an extremely comfortable 6- king bed in a very well-designed bedroom with balcony views of the old mill wheel and stream. The only thing that lets this inn down is the lack of power in the shower.

Best Sunday dinner 😍 Had to book a week in advance! But worth the wait 😊 Catered no problem for Gluten-free. Will definitely be returning in the near future. Staff friendly & helpful. The only downside is the single country roads,

Absolutely loved the place staff are helpful and polite. But for me just what i needed the mill wheel stream scenery, the nature and little running stream.. found it randomly driving round with spare time .. just the meditating atmosphere i love and needed. Tranquil i came at a quiet time so absolutely amazing experience. Last but not least the food is superb.. local farmed meat, matched with good quality ingredients as a cook myself i would say they were good chefs, everytjing on the plate simple but made a nice balance in like higher end than your average pub steak thrown together, good quality ingredients used . If near by I would 100% would visit again.

I've been three times, once for a drink, once for lunch with my wife and once for an evening meal with six others. On all occasions the beer was excellent and when we ate everyone loved their food. Very highly recommended. I have not stayed over yet so cannot review the accommodation but I hope to put that right in the near future.

Paradise in the Peaks! Food: delicious pub grub. Drinks selection: ace. Gorgeous outdoor seating in a delightful setting. Older kids able to roam wild in the play areas, paddle in the river. Smaller play area for toddlers. Chickens, geese, ducks, rabbits, guinea pigs... Top notch setting and will 100% be going out of our way to return.

Great little spot that the missus picked for a weekend away. My daughter, aged two loved exploring outside. The room was clean and comfortable. The pub down stair, warm & friendly people from the locals to the staff. The young waiters were a breath of fresh air. Very polite, couldn't do enough for you. Food was tasty & fresh. Would recommend

Brilliant find! In a picturesque quiet spot. Plenty of outside seating for sunny days. Inside feels warm and cosy with a number of the locals using the bar which made for a friendly atmosphere. Staff very attentive and friendly and Charlie the dog keeps an eye on things. Food is really amazing. Presentation is taken seriously. Portion sizes feel right. Quality of ingredients is top. Taste is high-end. Would have no hesitation on recommending.

The place is great and most of the staff are friendly. The food was really nice too and not too busy on a Friday with nice weather. The only problem we had was when we orders a plain chicken burger, but when it came it had vegetables and we were told by the waitress to “just take them off”, which I though was a little rude. This coming from the view of a former waitress. Despite that we really enjoyed ourselves.

We came to UK for our Honeymoon and stayed here for 2 nights on a roadtrip; it was so great! The rooms were super cozy and the food at the Inn was so good, we had dinner there on both days! Staff and locals were all friendly. Worth the drive in and will definitely return again! Super cozy little community. Also, super love the Little Mill special brew, will miss it!

  • 4/5 Richard H. 2 years ago on Google
Nice atmosphere mid week and pleasant food at this popular venue. The pastry of the steak and ale pie was crispy and light rather than soggy as is often the case in pubs. Also the chips were big so much less fat in them. There was good marrow gravy served in a separate container so you could choose nowhere to pour it on the plate. Like the menu warning on some dishes of up to 25 mins cooking time.

A very friendly B&B with surprisingly good food in a very rural location. Our room had a particularly large ensuite and the breakfast was wonderful.
