The food isn't bad, just wickedly overpriced for pretty ordinary fare. An $18 "Greek breakfast" was a plate of sourdough toast, with two tiny poached eggs, 2 tablespoons of avocado, one slice of haloumi (which was overdone on one side, barely cooked on the other, and nearly cold) and some very limp rocket. Take the toast away and it looks very sparse, something that would cost no more than $14 at a suburban cafe, and there you'd get free range eggs and some homemade relish, too. It's over $10 for a slice of cake. My companion was served burnt fruit toast. Service is slow. But it's generally laptop friendly. The coffee tastes like coffee. The biggest problem with The Library Cafe is they have no competition to bring prices down - they are the movie theatre of cafes. So order a coffee and sit here with the free wifi to get your money's worth, and forget about the food. A further word of warning for parents - some time ago I had the staff tell me that my kid (aged 2) couldn't eat food we'd brought from home while sitting in the cafe, even though we'd bought stuff for the adults. They were quite rude. I've had no issues with customer service recently, but seems to matter who is on.

Pricey, slow, and not that great. Menu is ok but overpriced for what is otherwise pretty standard food. Better ask for your coffee extra hot, it's lukewarm by the time it makes it to the table.

Hm.. I think they can do much better with their food. Had the lasagna and pesto salad. Both werent really good. The coffee is a different story though.

Very bad service... order almond croissant but they are wrong to provide Ham and cheese toast to me. Also said that it is my fault.... they are not agreed to change and asked pay to buy almond croissant. Not recommended to go here. Also the lady is isolated the Asian people.... very poor service and I will post this to our channel and bad comments of this restaurant..... table is very dirty.....

Two coffee's ordered. One completely wrong. Decaf doesn't equal single shot almond milk with vanilla. Explained what the order was. They then made a double shot flat white. Tried explaining again they had it wrong. They presented us with what they wrote down as evidence they were right. Absolutely blank faced that they could be wrong. Walked away. No refund offer. Appalling service. My coffee was ok but couldn't drink more than a bit.

They make an incredible soy latte. But for my second drink, I requested for a low fat hot chocolate. I stood right beside the machine and saw the barista pour low fat milk into the milk foaming cup but because there wasn’t enough low fat left and the carton was empty, I was so surprised he didn’t open another low fat milk.. just topped it up with regular milk! That was horrible…

Nice location, outside area lovely. Food was nice, Chips were a bit dry. Only real let down was some of the staff...not overly friendly and a little rude to be honest. wouldn't return.

My one gripe with this cafe is that they make a long black coffee with only one shot. The baristas told me on two occasions that this is a long black - only here and nowhere else.

Coffee was really good and a fair price. Some of the food items are too basic like the vegan bagel of just rocket and avocado. Some food fairly priced, some expensive like $7 for a tiny spinach and ricotta roll which was frozen and is just heated up. Anyway, still some good options and happy with the coffee 😊

Extremely limited options for food, everything looks a bit old, coffees are tiny, it's very dirty and untidy looking behind the counter, just looks scabby. I guess it's as much as you can expect from a gov facility cafe.

Went here to meet a friend. There is plenty of outside seating, but it is not wheelchair accessible. The indoor seating area is very inaccessible, a negative on a 35 degree day. Food options are limited here with a strong focus on gluten free, vegetarian and vegan foods - in the cake and snack section, there was not a single standard offering. Great for my friend, no good for me as I have major allergies to many of the substitutes. Not recommended from me, but it is popular with many.

Just bought a one babycino for my 3 years old daughter. Nothing else in my orderm. There was a big line of adults waiting and after 15 minutes waiting and my child getting a bit stress about it, I asked the barista lady if it would be possible to prioritize the babycino a as it was for a child. She said it is no possible, which is fine. But when she finally gave my babicino she did it in a rude way and even though I said "Thank you", she did not even look at me. Not sure why she got mad just by my question.

Good food for South Bank, which seems to be full of very mediocre restaurants for some reason. Great for lunches when there are events on in the area. Nachos and Honey Ginger Chicken salad are stand out choices. Cold drip coffee hits the spot, too.

Great cafe I stayed long enough to treat myself to coffee and cake then a yummy lunch and even went to their gift area and bought my self a present.

Such a good location but the manager was super rude about bringing in food. He could have told us calmly and put signs outside saying do not sit here and eat your own food but chose to yell at us? He yelled at us in front of other families with kids nearby. Don't want to elaborate cause it was slightly traumatising. Won't support this cafe and manager.
