Please don’t waste your money with this guesthouse. More especially if you were thinking of going to celebrate something special. They used poor flowers, balloons to decorate. No refreshments in the morning and night after food. The food was terrible and had a weird smell. Air conditioner was broken. We had to go fetch sauces in the kitchen at some point. Lol they booked a massage for one person although they knew we were a couple.

Went a couple of years ago. The honeymoon suites are not great...the jacuzzis (with a view of the dam), are spa baths with a window...the dam view is through the trees at best

We booked for 2 nights and our first impression of the place was awesome. The view of the dam from our room was awesome. The decorations were excellent but our excitement was soon dampened by the food stardard. For the price we paid it was rather disappointing. As if that was not enough the bed in our room was old and it was really uncomfortable. It felt like we were sleeping inside a hole. The waiter staff that served us dinner was also very unfriendly, every time she did we felt we were being an inconvenience to her. Overall I would recommend the place for the view of the dam but the rest is really not worthy it. If I were to go back there I would opt for another place for accommodation. Really not worth it.

What a total waste of money and time. R7140 wasted. The only attraction is the view and the jetbath. On arriving we were shown our room through a dirty upstairs loft with no light that working. I was told the dstv didn't work but someone came to fix it. Saturday morning we left fir the boat cruise when we came back the room was still in the same condition we left it no one cleaned or changed the towels. once again I asked that they can check the dstv as it's still not working I was ignored. I saw the information book that clearly states they don't do lunch but a sandwich can be requested... so that's just what I did only to be told the booklet I'd outdated. The lady at reception was promoting uber east and Kosmos Cafe that's down the road more than trying to accommodate her guests. Then cam dinner... only 2 options to choice from chose the lambshanks the vegetables was tasteless and over cooked. The dessert options also only 2 which only 1 was available. Then the best of all a lodge that promotes a bar with a bar menu but they don't have softdrink once again only option was orange juice. What a joke. In all my years of traveling this has been the worst expirece of my life the 4 star is most definitely not the truth and is only based on the view. Breakfast was standard with no options... you eat what they give you or stay hungry. And the swimming pool is under construction which was never mentioned on the booking date. We had to leave the estate to drive to the nearest garage for water and softdrinks. Upon check out the rooms was still not cleaned the dstv still didn't work. I will definitely NEVER recommend this place. So much for a romantic getaway.

Cokroach problem. No aircon and rooms are very cold in winter as a result. Wifi connection only catches in the dining area and not in the rooms. Poor plumbing as Bathtub is clogged. Rooms not thoroughly cleaned and dusted as there are spiderwebs in the corners. Dirty linen. Steak is tough and inedible, veggies are just steamed and bland. Otherwise, this place has breathtaking views and nicely situated close to the river where a cruise is available. It would be an amazing romantic getaway if the maintenance issue can be addressed.

The service from Linmirie, Pinky and Grace was exceptional. They were very friendly and very helpful. The other two receptionist were the opposite. The hot water tap in the basin in the bathroom did not work and could not be fixed the whole weekend. The food was very good and definitely fine dining. We will go back as the weekend overall was pleasant and relaxing.

We had booked a Sweet Life Honeymoon Package for a small getaway after our wedding. What is advertised on their website is misleading. The package mentions the following: Saturday - Full English Breakfast - You order your breakfast every morning which is exactly the same there are no other choices you can order from. Another delicious 3 course dinner prepared by our chef followed by Belgium Chocolates and Italian Coffee. - This is at an additional cost of over R300pp, we had to pay this additional amount just to have dinner on the first night we got there. You get two chocolates but your coffee is an additional charge as well. Sunday Full English Breakfast with the Sunday morning newspaper - The same breakfast from the day before, no newspaper. The best dam 2 hour Scenic Boat Cruise around Hartbeespoortdam including buffet of hot & cold finger foods from 13h00-15h00 / 16h00-18h00 – cash bar onboard. - This is another additional cost of over R400pp. When booking, they ask what times you would like to be booked for but do not mention that you have to pay for the cruise separately. We ended up going to the Snake and Animal Park and took one of the boat rides there which is much cheaper. (Please note the sparkling wine, fresh flowers, candles and a Matsimela aromatherapy basket and boat cruise is only applicable when staying the whole weekend – either Friday to Sunday or Saturday to Monday) - We stayed for the entire weekend and did not receive any of these things, our room was standard, not honeymoon suite and there was absolutely nothing special about it. The staff are quite noisy at night as well, you can hear them echoing through the guesthouse no matter how far you are from reception. When enquiring about all of the missing services at reception, the lady didn't seem interested at all and "couldn't" find any of my details for the booking. It was really disappointing.

Service was good and the food delicious. I would advise that they upgrade the rooms to a little more modern. I would recommend showers in all room's.

The warm welcome from Elsika was beautiful, dinner was good both days and to Jacque the manager a big thank you for organizing us transport to the cruise and for your friendliness... Chefs welldone for snacks and the lovely fresh dinner and to Pinky and Grace thank you. The place definitely not as amazing as the what you see on the internet however the view and their beautiful garden made it pleasant. ..To Rasta and Senzo thank you for the great afternoon cruise ....

No, please NEVER book this place, the worst getaway of my life! The staff is friendly upon arrival but they got colder the closer we got to check out date. The place is very old and not aesthetically pleasing, the pictures are surely overdone. Dirty carpets, table linen, dusty chairs and glassware. They really must’ve gotten their 4 star rating in the 1960s.😭 We booked what is their honeymoon suite, it’s quite basic, tiles are cracked, the room is cold and nothing like in the picture, the bed is two single mattresses put together, very uncomfortable and the worst, the bedding is DIRTY, the blanket we got in the closet had stains and smelled musky, the pillow cases had stains and are just really dirty I had to cover them with a towel, the covers also had stains. To top it off the room is next to what I think is a staff/store room, we were up at 01:00 with someone pulling furniture and making noise. Saturday. The food is was good though but The chef told me I couldn’t make changes to HIS menu when I asked upon arrival (16:00) when I made a simple request for potatoes because I didn’t want to have rice. Just don’t stay there!!!

  • 1/5 Robyn H. 1 year ago on Google
The pictures are not the same as what you get. Everything looks very old, our room was not clean not to mention the stains on the pillow cases, towels and on the duvet. The shower could not even close properly. We paid for the Honey moon suite package and the price we paid compared to what we received at the guest house is the total opposite. Their furniture is old and it has worn off. Parking is a major problem. Limited parking At 11pm we tried to contact management regarding people playing music and could not get hold of them. I would not recommend this place at all!!

We had an amazing getaway at La Dolce Vita, everything was excellent from the food, staff and rooms. Everyone was friendly and accomodating. Their 3 course Italian themed dinners were one of the trip's highlights. We had a gorgeous dam view from our balcony. I can highly recommend coming here on your next trip to Harties

The place was awesome in every possible way. The reception was 5 star, the waiters were excellent. The view into the waters and the green outside was quiet adorable. Me and my partner enjoyed our stay and we will surely consider coming back!!! ❤️❤️❤️👌👌👌

The worst. We booked for a conference and honestly that place is not for conferences. The conference was for 22 people and because of that we had some people stay in the another guesthouse which I understood except to get the guesthouse you have to drive. Also lunch was 195 per person awhich you would think means a big buffet but no... The food even ran out before everyone could eat. Drinks wer not included in this amount by the way which we only found out when we got there.Drinks were not not included in any of those meals so we're had to incur an extraa cost while there, having already paid a hefty amount for what I thought included everything that would be needed. There was only one blanket for every room and the air cons for some rooms weren't working. When I went to go ask about it at reception I was told that they had taken all the blankets to be washed and they had taken all the aircon remotes for winter so they could save energy only to find out that other rooms had their remotes.-mind you it, it was a really cold night. The tablecloths in the conference room were dirty. The conference room was quite small and all the tables were too packed and also there was one plug point meaning when weantwd to charge our laptops it was quit a struggle. The conference room looked like a store room that they somewhat turned to make a little room for conferences as there were couches and things stored in that same room. There was only one public toilet for EVERYONE and it was downstairs while the "conference room was upstairs and apparently the one that can be used during conferences is in another room which was occupied luckily by one of our people so we could use it. While we knewould be sharing we didn't know that most will be on king beds so if you go for work be ready to get really comfortable with your colleagues. Yeah this was stressful time. I would not recommend this place at all. The staff were nice but that's about it. They need to train their waiting staff

This guesthouse is located inside the estate here in hartbeespoort, you can enjoy the view of the dam right in front of you. Very small parking lot but then again it has few rooms as well. They do offer food .

OH MY WORD!!! What an amazing place. The location of the place is to die for :) the food is great!! The staff members are super friendly and very helpful. The sweet life package experience was exactly how they had described it to be. The experience was totally beautiful and more. We will definitely be visiting the place again.

Received a Sweet Life week-end gift experience to this guest lodge, which included dinner, bed and breakfast for 2 nights, a boat cruise and wine, flowers and aromatherapy basket in the room. The staff were very friendly and hospitable which was the only good thing about the experience. Had a honeymoon suite downstairs which was hot and stuffy and the aircon didn’t work. The room smelled musty and there was mould in the ceiling. Also, there were no windows to open for fresh air. The dingy little outdated bathroom was utterly disgusting with mould on the shower tiles and ceiling, had to shower with flipflops on. Also, there was no wine, flowers or aromatherapy basket in the room, even though it was paid for in the voucher. Also we found out that dinner was no longer being served, which I received a refund for from the company that sold the voucher. The lodge offered no refund or substitute for all the things that were paid for in the voucher that I did not receive ie. wine, flowers and aromatherapy basket. This place was a huge disappointment and daylight robbery for the price paid for the horrible experience.

Summary: Disappointing stay, no water during stay, great view though. Detail: I don't normally leave reviews but if I can help someone out, I hope this is it. Make sure to CALL BEFORE you book online and confirm if there is water. It is a basic human need but yeah, no water in the area during our 3 days there. It ruined the weekend but the staff could not do much. Fault should be placed on the owners to make sufficient back up plans for their Paying staff. Room: We stayed in their honeymoon suite and i can vouch for the view, its amazing, the property sits on a hillside overlooking the dam, so pleasant view and decent manicured lawn, but that along with the friendly staff is where the positives end. Facilities: The property does need a lot of maintenance, could be mistaken for an intentional raustic look, but no, its just old. The walk to the room is through a musty dusty attic type setup and can get very stuffy as air does not circulate. The room has old furniture and the suite has two single beds combined as opposed to a Queen or King (not very romantic). Dstv worked, could watch the EPL and aircon was ok (would suggest closing windows early before insects get in). Cleanliness: The pool was also dirty, given the lack of water, clean pool water could have helped but nope, thats not properly maintained either (it looks better at night as they have a blue light that kinda makes it look better). During our stay the room was cleaned and I assume towels changed. Food: Breakfast was free for our booking, really nothing special.. toast, eggs, rashers, beans, tea, tomato.. would get you going (again friendly staff, in particular Jeanet was the highlight). We tried the local Kosmos Cafe and can vouch for their cheese burger and their Creamy Pepper pasta with beef strips (I should drop them a review too, would recommend no doubt). The guesthouse did not serve lunch or dinner during our stay Safety: Within the Kosmos estate, it does appear safe (you get put off by the shacks being erected along street leading to estate) but nothing suggested otherwise. Car was parked outside, similar to other nearby guesthouses. But again, call to make sure there is water or any other basic amenity. Don't think its worth almost 2k a night, but yea decent view.

What we saw on the pictures is the exact opposite of what we saw at the venue.Everything looks very old, our room was not clean not to mention the stains on the pillow cases, towels and on the duvet. We had to put the towel on top of the pillow case before we sleep. We paid for the Honey moon suite package and the price we paid compared to what we received at the guest house is the total opposite. They had a very small matsimela aromatherapy baskets with very small items inside and the transparent container with no labels, with green substance that is supposedly our bath salts.Their shower heads are very outdated with cracked tiles around the shower.Their furniture is old and it has worn off, we couldn’t use their garden as it was dirty and their outdoor chairs had too much dust. We were served on a dirty stained tablecloth and we had to be the one’s making the waitress aware that, and ooh parking is a major problem. As for their menu…we were not served the lamb shank on Saturday but rather beef stew and there was no communication regarding that, the waitress told us when we were about to order. The service we received from the waitress who was serving us dinner was horrible, it was as if we were disturbing her every time we requested her assistance, except for our housekeeper Jeanette, she sure found a way to put a smile on our smiles every morning with her service. I wouldn’t recommend this guest house at all, we thought that it is rated a four star, only to be told at the reception after complaining that they are no longer rated that. There is no value for money.

My Partner and I took the sweet life weekend package. The hospitality, the waiters, the reception staff, the food, the cleanliness was excellent. The food was so much we could not finish our portions but delicious. On the Friday we received our flowers, champagne, bath salts for the jacuzzi and a beautifully deocorated room with flower petals. We absolutely loved and enjoyed our stay and definitely will be back for another romantic weekend getaway. Dennis and Michelle

wow... where do i start It was not a great experience. The staff were friendly. However our room was right next to the storage room. The bed was held up by bricks. There was a massive hole in the wall. Our bed was held up by bricks. The pillows and sheets were covered in stains. There were people talking outside our room and children running around all night. NOT A 4 STAR HOTEL! Not to mention that most of the rooms are classified as 'honeymoon suites' Would not recommend La Dolce Vita Guest House in Hartbeespoort

Excellent welcome of drinks, bottle of wine, 3 course food and accommodation facing the dam, book cruise trips. Challenges are wifi and electricity.

  • 2/5 Lois S. 3 years ago on Google
Unfortunately it didn't live up to its promise. We had no water and no electricity for 70% of our stay. We were placed in a standard room instead of the honeymoon sweet, the error was only acknowledged half way through and we were swopped over and still charged the full package. No loungers by the pool was strange and no tissues in the rooms nor Ny USB ports. Food was mediocre however the cheff did make an effort for a vegan dinner for me. Loud guests were partying with loud music and getting drunk and disorderly right through the day until after curfew at night, very few were wearing masks. We complained 5 times until something was done. Highlight was the jacuzzi in the room (althought the first rooms jacuzzi didn't work) beautiful views, non alcoholic champagne and flowers in the room. They also helped us out by taking photos of us. Not the best stay sadly, we wont be returning. It is more a 3.5 star than a 4 star resort.

My husband and I stayed for 3 nights at La Dolce Vita for our anniversary and unfortunately we were extremely disappointed and actually wouldn't recommend this place to anyone especially room 6. When we arrived and were shown to our room we found that there was a stain on the duvet and and sheet and there were marks on the towels. The bed was very uncomfortable and desperately needs to be replaced. If you coming for peace and quiet then this is not the place. You can hear everything that is happening in the kitchen, you can hear when guests arrive and check in as the room is right at the entrance, the doors all squeek and you can hear everything that goes on in the room next door. Hearing the co-curricular activities of our neighbours made us feel very uncomfortable. The sliding door from the bedroom onto the balcony didn't work. In the bathroom the taps in the basin were very loose and only the hot tap worked. It was very inconvenient having to brush our teeth with hot water. The breakfast was at least good and the one 3 course dinner we had was also good but definitely not anything amazing. All in all I don't know how this place has a 4 star rating and can't believe the rates they charge for what they have to offer. How disappointing.

  • 1/5 Farai M. 3 years ago on Google
BEWARE THEIR SOCIAL DISTANCING MEASURES FOR THEIR ACTIVITIES. Staff appear uninterested in upholding the correct measures to ensure the safety of their guests during activities. Even on pointing that out, staff remained lax about safety or offering any solutions. Pros -View of the dam -Decent Food Cons -Terrible hospitality - staff does not communicate about dining and activity times. Appears as though staff are not interested in serving the guests. -Poor housekeeping - rooms were unclean. Curtains we're unwashed. Massive ant problem in the rooms and dining area. -No running water - frequent water cuts. Even when the water was available, it was extremely dirty. All without informing guests. Overall experience was rather poor. The guest house is overpriced and the quality of service is substandard. Nothing welcoming about the staff or helpful. Advertising of the guest house was deceptive and the activities involved were grossly misrepresented.
