Awesome! If you're into history, archeology, and exploring. Very fun. Bring comfy shoes with good grip! There are lifts if you don't want to take loads stairs up, but you still need to take them down and there's lots of walking.

Probably the best cave we have ever visited. Self guided tour with a good audio guide with a kids version for under 12s. Overall tour takes 1.5hrs with the boat ride in the cave river being fantastic. 13C in the cave so lovely on a hot day but take a jumper with you as it can feel chilly down there. Pictures do not do the place justice. Highly recommend

Amazing place that is worth visiting! Felt a little like the Antelope Canyon pictures one sees. Get there at least 15 minutes before your reservation and park at the free parking next door. It gets crowded so be sure to reserve tickets.

One of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been. The photos speak for themselves. Only downside was that a lot of the staff at the ticket scan weren’t that helpful and understanding. They kept speaking French to us while their name tags had an English flag on them. When we asked them if they could repeat it in English we got a big sigh an rolling eyes.

The beautiful Gouffre de Padirac does not disappoint, and is astonishingly beautiful. The tour is well planned out, with a walking section at first and a boat tour following that. The tour guides on board peddling the boat give loads of additional interesting information. The main information source however were the useful and handy audio guides, available in a wide variety of languages. When you exit the caves there’s a nice gift shop with lots of stones, mugs, etc. I highly recommend visiting this place!

Phenomenal experience. So well organized what with all the people, stairs, elevators, boat rides. Excellent staff with good humour and knowledgeable. Amazing sights in the caves. Lots of stairs so be prepared.

Great cave with tons of cool stalagmites and stalactites. Going through this cave and looking at all of the wonderful stuff made by erosion from the time when the cave was filled of water was an awesome experience and it was one I would love to experience again. I really recommend checking this cave out. There is also a river going through the cave which Is really awesome.

Expensive entrance fee but I advice you it is worth it. Very interesting cave and well maintained, staff are helpful and friendly. Lots of stairs so make sure you are wearing your walking shoes, they have elevator and long stairs but also required to go up and down to some part and boating inside as well, not really a place for babied and small kids for it is quite dangerous for them and also for those who have trouble walking.

Practical details first. It’s 14 degrees down at the bottom so wear something warm. You can take stairs or you can take an elevator so it’s partially accessible. We had a baby with us and used a baby carrier. Went down using the stairs and up in the elevator. Easy and accessible parking and a decent place to eat. Don’t arrive too early for your door and do book online before you go as it can get busy especially in the summer months. Now the attraction itself was amazing. It is unbelievable how something like that is a natural occurrence. Two hours drive from Toulouse it’s definitely a must see. You even take a boat for 500m on an underground river. Audio guides in many languages. Really fantastic day out.

The pit itself is already a grandiose sight, but also impressive are the many caves and underground canyons below it. It is a water world down there, so waterproofed clothes will keep you extra dry. Rest assured that the Padirac team already made sure that otherwise only a rare few drops will get to you.

Just absolutely beautiful caves around a 30 minute drive from Rocamadour. Be prepared to walk a load of steps (there are three lifts but you will still at minimum have to walk 207 steps). Worth the visit and will definitely come back.

Incredible! A beautiful magical experience underground. Well organised but although it was busy it didn't seem really crowded. One boatman was better than the other (more likeable) but the caves are spectacular. A huge amount of walking and steps!

Truly remarkable, the best cave system I have ever seen. An interesting story of how it was discovered, explored and then opened to the public, boating on a sub-terranian river was great and then the vastness and splendour of the cavern that the boats lead you too is incredible. It gets you thinking about what wonders lay beneath your feet!

Must see in the area. Audio tour(different languages possible) was great, followed by a boat ride on the underground river. Incredible force of nature. Fair pricing, staff is wonderful and English is not a problem. Overall great experience.

Wonderful experience and a fantastic memory. How often in one's life do you have the opportunity to take a boat ride on an underground river?

It was a very unique experience. The Gouffre is neither too bright nor too dark, which allows you to admire the walls of the Gouffre. Taking the boat inside the Gouffre was also an impressive experience as the colour of the water is amazing. Moreover, the wait is not too long.

Outstanding place. The Gouffre is a phenomenal site to see ! The place has been very well arranged for People to Walk down and see and feel The inner parts of the "grotte". This is à superb out-of-time expérience !

An interesting cave system to explore in the region. The audio guide was interesting apart from the very hokey reenactment portions. Very impressive pools, plate stalagmites and an underground river to the rear of the cave. Very worth going on the small punting boat to the back as that's where most of the interesting formations are

Beautiful, the boat ride was amazing, but you can't take pictures during the ride. Be prepared for stairs, but there is an elevator

I don't know how to promote this place enough. I've been in a lot of caves, and this is easily in my top three. Not only is it shockingly extensive, but it has been fitted with creature comforts that really add to the charm. Well lit, great footpaths, and even boats to travel into the depths. Do not miss this place.

It's a big sink hole with an underground river. There are better caves in the area with less of a scrum to see them. The parking is a mess. It's very difficult to find the free parking for the cave as the local mairie have put pay machines in most of the lots. There is a free car park and free motorhome parking. Hard to find. Some nice formations inside. Lots of steps. Long wait for lift. Everything in french, no leaflets in other languages. Expensive for French sites. In response to the reply I would say the following. The one available free car park was full with cars parked in the entrance. We didn't find the free motorhome park. The website is difficult to navigate and I had difficulty buying an e ticket. All the ticket machines at your site are broken or turned off. We found the ticket office with a big queue as only one desk was open. I asked the man for an English leaflet and he said you didn't have one. I see the leaflet is in both English and French but this isn't clear from the front of it. We were herded like cattle. I think your staff could show more care. There were various incidents of poor customer service which I could relate that happened to us and others. I think 3 stars is a more than generous score.

Very cool experience. They give you headphones to listen to an audio tour as you go through the caves. The coolest part (aside from the giant hole entry) is the boat tour section. You’re in a canoe with a few other folks, gliding on the river that runs through the caves. Lots included for the price of the ticket. Would definitely recommend. There are a lot of stairs down but elevators to get back up.

I'm so glad we didn't miss this. My dad has walking issues and so we really felt the number of steps... for us it was totally worth it to just stop, rest, and continue. We didn't go all the way to the last marvel of the caverns because of the steps, but it was still totally worth the price and the visit for the wonders that we got to experience. There are many stairs even when using the elevator option, so be sure you are up for that. Otherwise, the steps themselves are easy to use and the walkways through the caverns are fairly flat, there were rails to grab, and dim lights throughout. My dad had a hard time seeing the path so he had to go slowly, but again, it was very worth it. Just know that photos don't prepare you for the real experience of this place. There is an atmosphere that can't be captured. For us, even with all the other tourists, and goofy kids doing all their goofy kid things, the marvel and magnificence of this chasm still permeated our souls and filled us with our own childlike wonder. I remember that feeling of childhood after this visit because of seeing things and feeling sensations that I didn't know existed. There is still more to see, more to know, and more to our planet than ever can be known.

Amazing place. It's a must see if you happen to be in this part of France. The tour involves getting on a boat which is a great addition to the whole experience.

Such an incredible experience. I have never visited anything like this before. It is really hard to capture how beautiful this was in photos, but it really was stunning. A mixture of walking and travelling by small boat. There are also lifts if walking up and down lots of flights of stairs is difficult. You must buy tickets in advance and they give you a timeslot. There can be a bit of a wait to pay in the car park so make sure to arrive with plenty of time.

Amazing place-self guided tour is a great option for this place. You walk around at your own pace, accompanied by an audio guide. It's huge, and you have loads of time to explore every detail (plus there is a boat tour which adds an extra special experience) We bought our tickets online, waited only a few minutes in a queue before our time - once you get in, you don't need to rush and just enjoy this amazing place with the speed you like. For us, it was TOP experience, fully recommend 👌

This is my first time visiting a cave formation and it should be a bit surprising to hear as I am from India and there are many caves there. But the experience I got from visiting here was awesome. I got to see some ancient cave structures and I got to travel in a boat 105 meters deep into the earth. They gave us walkie talkies to learn more about the formations as we went deeper and deeper into the caves. I would recommend you visit in high season as there was rain today and the caves were really dark and wet. Overall, the experience was a 10/10 for me.

I had never heard of Gouffre de Padirac, but I was amazed by it's beauty. The Grand Dome is awesome and well worth the climb up and down the steps. The staff was also very helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend it!

Wow, did not expect to see this. Be aware that the temperature below is 13C/55F. Also you have to take a lot of steps to see the most of it. But for most people aged 6-70 that won't be a problem. Some places are slippery. I would recommend to do the boat ride.

Amazing experience! We booked on line and were taken in on yime. Helpful staff. All amenities including an elevator for those who are unable to use stairs. Fascinating rock formations both walking and in the boat. Informative guides and information boards. A must visit!

A must see if you're in the area, there's no point trying to describe the magnificence of the cave, the beauty of stalactites and stalagmites and the boat ride on the underground river, you just need to go and see for yourself. It's better to book the tickets on the website and arrive a bit earlier because there's a queue at the entrance for each time slot. There's also a lot of steps going down and then around in the cave and then up again (there are lifts for going back up but not for the last flight of stairs) so definitely wear non-slip shoes and bring water. It says that the temperature in the cave is 13 degrees but it didn't feel that cold at all, we had no need for jackets.

Gouffre de Padirac is mind-blowing. Beauty created by mother nature. The staff were very friendly during the entire visit which lasted a few good hours. If you visit during the summer I would recommend to have some extra clothes with you as down there are around 10°-12° during whole year.

Really great experience that I recommend to anyone! Walking below the earth and admiring the rock walls was an unusual experience for me, I felt that it wasn't real. Especially when we took a boat at one point. Worth exploring 🌟

This is by far the most impressive cave I have ever visited. First you decend via stairs (or an elevator) down into the cave and after that you take the stairs to get inside. Down below there will be boats which will take you through the cave itself. One can definetly spend about 3 hours here. Only drawback is that this place is very popular (for the right reasons) and thus expect some very long waiting lines.

  • 5/5 ilaf h. 2 years ago on Google
This site is so magnificent 😍. You use the stairs or the elevators 🛗 to go under the ground. In the first part, you stop to look 👀 upstairs and watch the circular opening. Then you head more deep in the ground to discover the place which has a steady temperature 🌡of 13 degrees in winter and summer. You walk and observe those amazing textures of rocks . After a while you take a kayak to reach also a beautiful place and then you can go back using the elevator or the stairs. Seriously it is worth it.
