This is our second stay in the Yays apartments - the last visit being in 2018. The apartment itself is nice and spacious, but there are some things you should be aware of before you book: you will likely be surrounded by noisy groups staying next to you and above you, the checkin is overly complicated and must be done by smartphone, and if you have any mobility issues this isn’t the place for you. Finally parking is challenging - we could have done with knowing about the idock parking (15 min walk) BEFORE we arrived rather than after we’d paid €50 for a space near the building. Getting in and out of the building requires a smartphone to open the foyer and apartment doors. Not great when it’s raining or you want to get in quickly. This is released once every aspect of the checkin is completed online. I hadn’t released that this was the only option and so this resulted in a rather stressful start to our stay after a long journey from France. We were in an apartment on the ground floor, which is down an almost spiral staircase - I regretted having a large suitcase and wore flats throughout the stay. If you end up on the top floor, the same is true. There are also steps up from the road to all the apartments. During our stay of four nights we didn’t have one good nights sleep. We had a stag group above us the first night, someone constantly walking and running somewhere above us the second and third night. On the second day another two groups arrived and proceeded to play loud music on the communal terrace morning competing with each other for loudness. There is no concierge or reception on site any more ( there used to be when we first stayed here a few years back) so it took a call to the Yays team to try and sort it out. You might think complaining about loud music is pretty lame, but after three nights of very poor sleep it becomes boring very quickly. However if this is your thing ( you want more of a party location) then maybe this is the pace to stay. The Yays team at the end of the phone ( thank goodness they had put an a4 sheet of paper with the phone number on it on one of the ground floor windows) and email were helpful throughout and managed to ask other guests to turn down their music. It’s disappointing that I felt I had to call them in the first place. We did enjoy our stay in Amsterdam and prefer self catering options, but won’t be forking out for Yays again based on this experience. I dithered about whether to pay for a hotel or Yays with both being about the same cost and sadly now wish I’d gone with the hotel option. Sorry Yays. First time in 2018 was great. This time not so much.

There is nothing really negative there I could say about this place although it’s located right on the train you hardly hear it at night, We truly felt at home when we stayed there for a few days during summer with my family. There is a kitchen available where you could cook if you don’t feel like going out, it’s conveniently located within a five minute walk to all the buzz and fuzz. When we ran out of toilet paper, I’ve contact them by email, they Notified me that they only provide necessities until it runs out the rest. We need to buy ourselves, but still send somebody to give us more toilet paper. There is no staff on site, so check is done only through mobile and if you’re an elderly, keep in mind the stairs to go to the units on the first floor are very narrow. This place is very clean very warm, including heated floors, modern kitchen very nice beds. For the price that you pay, it’s worth every penny and it’s only a 10 minute walk from the train station. When we come back to Amsterdam, we will definitely stay there again.

Disappointing experience at YAYS Prince Island. The coffee machine didn’t work, the temperature control system didn’t work, resulting in four nights of little to no sleep, when we first arrived at the property I looked in the kitchen drawers to find cooking utensils encrusted with food. When I contacted the apartment services for help their response was ‘please use soap and water to clean the items’. Toilet bowl was filthy, as was the high chair. We arrived in the rain with big suitcases and a pushchair. Staff refused to let us use the lift and instead insisted we use the very narrow staircase down to the ground floor apartment from the first floor. This accommodation is not cheap. We did not feel the quality of the apartment or customer care matched the price. The only saving grace was the nice neighbourhood but this of course has nothing to do with YAYS.

Beware of this property. They charge but services provided are limited. Location wise it’s ok location, no one is available at property to hep if any problems . No AC at property, rooms were hot during our stay and fans they have in the room didn’t properly work . In case if you have to check out and you are not leaving city yet , they don’t have any way to store your luggage, we were not given an option to check out late with charge , lift at facility doesn’t work in case if you are given lower level apartment and you have to unload and load luggage through narrow staircase. Do not recommend this property.

We had a serious issue in Apartment 1B on Sunday 2nd October at approximately 11am which impacted our stay and ability to use the facilities. The water did not drain and subsequently the bathroom became flooded, effectively making it unusable. We told the housekeeper in 1A and she came over to take pictures and videos and said she would get in touch with YAYs as it would need to be seen by a specialist. We heard nothing back so contacted your customer service team and explained the issue, they advised us that they would send somebody out to fix it and then update us. After waiting for several hours with no update we rang the customer service back and spoke to a lady who said they fixed the issue in 7B - there was no issue on that room. We explained they went to the wrong room but she said they couldn’t get someone out to the correct one. We asked for either a resolution or compensation and the only thing they could offer was access to another room, which was in a completely different part of the building and not convenient at all and not acceptable.

Nice, cozy, quiet and clean apartment, suitable for large family. The living-room has a view on a small canal. Staff are very polite and helpful. The neighborhood is peaceful and it is pretty close to the Amsterdam Centraal and touristic centre of the city. We had an excellent stay. Highly recommend, we will come back again! :-)

Loved the location - 1 minute walk to the bus, 2 stops to the central station. Walking distance from nice shops, restaurants and cafés. Well equipped kitchen, all necessary utensils provided. Coffee capsules, sugar and tea are provided. Should probably also provide salt, pepper, maybe oil? Rooms were minimally furnished but comfortable beds. Service was very good both before and during our stay. Very quiet area, right by a canal, with nice view and ducks.

Lovely place, had a room of 6 people, beds were comfortable. Good access to everything around the city with a bus stop only being a 2/3 minute walk away. Definitely recommend to anyone! Can also walk to the city centre from here and there’s a supermarket close by too!

We had a great stay in this modern, spacious apartment. Location was a bit tricky because of all the canals - but Google showed the way. Quiet, right on the waterfront; automatic log in from your phone, which worked easily. Lovely local guide provided - but beware many of the restaurants have changed/ no longer exist..

Beware. For the £500 per night, we felt the apartment is only really £300. You are paying for the location

Great location and despite being so close to the train lines it was very quiet. Cute little playground right outside probably best suited for kids under 6. Stairway was typical for area and required extra attention with our small kids. Appreciated the contactless checkin process but because our apartment wasn't ready at checkin time we had to charge our phone before we could attempt to access the apartment. Would definitely suggest carrying a battery pack and providing checkin details to all guests.

The apartment is very spacious, floor heating, etc. Pretty good, however, could not rate service because- there is no service?

Nice quiet neighbourhood - we saw a grey heron outside one morning :) Good for family, with high ceilings and large rooms. Clean and modern (coffee machine was good). Not a 'wow' apartment or super luxurious but comfortable and quiet, so ideal for a family, I think. There is a bus stop about 2 minutes away which goes to Central very quickly.

Great location. Comfortable, functional apartments for friends or families traveling together. Beware that a smart phone is required to check-in and get into the apartment so don't lose or break it and always make sure it is charged. There is no staff onsite, so you will communicate via WhatsApp if you need anything and resolving issues can be slow. No air conditioning and it can get very hot during the Summer months. Overall, good experience. We would definitely stay there again.

The more expensive room type(two bedrooms with living room and terrace) has no ventilation. It’s facing canal on living room side, which is quite nice. But the other side is mostly underground. They prepared three fans for this but they’re loud and you don’t really have any window for fresh air to come in. So it’s quite uncomfortable. Hospitality is 0. You need to pay €45 ish to check in one hour earlier, and you can’t stay any longer after 11am for checking out, not even storing your packed luggage. There’s an elevator leading to ground floor terrace but you CAN’T use it, cause it’s only for staff. And the stairs leading to our room is tiny. It’s so annoying to carry our baby stroller in and out every day through it, even more challenging to carry our luggage in and out. Room hardwares are quite new.

Our room was on the basement floor. Even though there was a lift, it wasn't available for guests to use. Room very hot and stuffy, could not open tiny slither of a window in the bedrooms. Opening the door to the outside ley bad smells in. Bad choice to stay with kids

The location and rooms were fine. There was no elevator downstairs, making it difficult to carry belongings. The seats were also slightly deformed.

This was our first visit to Amsterdam. We went with our two children aged 12 & 9. We wanted a good base to explore the city in a safe location, with space to make breakfast, somewhere to relax in the evening and close the Amsterdam central. We stayed in apartment 1D which is right next to the front door. We could hear the front door click but not in an obtrusive way. For what we were looking for it was a really good option. I was really worried about some of the recent reviews but we didn't need to worry. We are from the UK and would say the apartment is comparable with say Premier Inn in the UK. It has what you need, not high end, very comfy bed, in the right location. The bed only has one pillow per person which we thought was a bit tight of Yays but actually I have to say we found the pillows really comfy! I would say the apartment was clean. But it wasn't spotless, there are marks on the wallpaper and the skirting boards are scuffed but it wasn't dirty as some reviews suggested. There aren't beautiful views or any sense of luxury but that wasn't what we were looking for. There is a train track nearby. The noise didn't cause any issue for us and my son loved watching different trains coming past. There is a local restaurant which is a bit noisy in the evenings with chatter and laughter rather than any trouble. It didn't pose any problems for us but if you needed it to be very quiet to sleep it might be something to consider. The kitchen has a good supply of tea bags and coffee pods. There is a combi oven which we have no experience of but we managed to use it to cook a pizza on the first day. There are a set of manuals on the Yays App which was really handy. The bathroom had liquid soap, shower gel, and shampoo all of which smelt nice and were provided in big bottles. The is no hair conditioner though. There was both a great shower and a nice big bath. There is also a hairdryer in the bathroom (rather basic but does the job) and there is a full length mirror in the hallway. The lounge had chairs/sofa that were comfy enough and the TV had Netflix so we could watch something with the kids when they were exhausted from exploring. All in all Yays Prince Island was everything we wanted until the last night. We stayed Tuesday to Saturday. During the week there were other young families. We could hear a child running around above us but it caused no problem. However Friday night saw a group of lads join below us who were there to drink and smoke and noisy karaoke girls next door who stopped the kids sleeping for a while. The weather wasn't terribly hot whilst we were there so we could happily close the windows to stop the smoke. However the temperature control didn't have any effect reducing the temperature so in high heat it might have been more of an issue for us. I think Yays have provided a good offering and it is hit and miss whether other people impact your stay. If I was coming again with children I would not stay at the weekend. We used WhatsApp to communicate with Yays which was really effective. Our safe was locked on arrival by the previous guests. Yays sent someone out to fix the issue and they arrived in about 30 minutes. The staff we spoke to were all super helpful with amazing English. I was really glad we didn't pay for outside space because it really wasn't very nice outside space but I think it is easy to see that from the website. We had no issues with the self check in or with the electronic key. I forwarded the email to my husband and son and they were able to add the key to their phones too. The WiFi was also easy to access and had good signal whilst we were there. We had a great stay and the apartment was everything that we needed.

Great place to stay in Amsterdam. Location is incredible. Centraal Station is around the corner, Bus stop is reachable in a couple of minutes. Place is clean and well equipped. For us the beds were very comfy and we slept very good. Parking is nearly impossible near the apartment so better be prepared!

It's comfortable for 4 of us staying for 5 nights here. Quiet and soundproof. This is second times we were stayed. Staffs was helpful and easy communicate. The only disappointment is the lift is no more available for guests, it was really felt hard to bring the luggage by the narrow staircase. But we were lucky that the staff was there and helped us to carry the luggage by the lift. The staffs was explained about the unavailable lift cause of lot of numbers of guests misused the lift and always got stucked in it. I would like to thanks to Jessica who helped us for the late check out. She was fast responding on the toilet sink problem and arranged the technician to repair on the next day.

Great value for money and great location. You Walk through the tunnel, cross the street and take a left turn and just keep walking in a straight line for 15 - 20 min until you're in red light district ;)

Not a comfortable experience. During our first night, the electricity was off on the doors and we were unable to access it. We had to wait in the cold for someone to repair it. Furthermore, the walls are paper thin, which unfortunately doesn’t work when you have disrespectful neighbours. They were partying loudly throughout the night; and almost every night. There doesn’t seem to be a policy on sound. Overall, not a comfortable place to stay, in terms of an overall environment.

The pictures look very professional compared to the apartment, but for that price per night, you get a lot of smokers and homeless people lying around the complex and near the apartment entrance. You cannot open the doors to the canal on level 2, people walk across the bridge and can easily come in through the sliding door.

Great location for visiting Amsterdam. Apartment is very we fitted out. Single beds look very small but were fine for adults. Good pub / restaurant close by. Good transport or walking options for sightseeing. The electric key for access is very difficult to register for..... And you need to have WiFi on your phone to operate the door. Big problem if your battery runs out!!

Do not stay here in summer. The units are very hot and stuffy, and no ventilation. None of the windows open and there is no aircon only heating. They obviously know about the problem as there is a floor standing fan in the bedroom- but this just circulates the stuffy air. Very disappointed in this as the units looked good online when we booked.

This apartment has a lovely spacious lounge area, comfy beds and a large clean bathroom. Location is brilliant near the central station and cafes etc. There were certain challenges for my elderly mother e.g. negotiating the tight spiral staircase down to the apartment was possible but tricky. The tap in the toilet room is of a very poor design that is almost impossible if you have any restricted strength or hand mobility. Apart from having the doors to the canal open it is a bit stuffy - I would not advise it in the height of summer. Even in May, sleeping was difficult in the bedrooms and the main bedroom has no window. Online communication with Yays was always friendly and helpful but sometimes frustratingly slow. Be aware that the doors open with an online app on your phone that you only get access to on the day of check in. It works well but was confusing at first. Great apartment for a couple or a couple plus friend but maybe not more than that.

The apartment and our stay were wonderful. The check-in experience was horrible and was a terrible beginning to what should have been a lovely, relaxing vacation. If we had known how long and difficult the check-in process was, we would have begun the process before we got to Amsterdam. Notice: you need to be tech savvy to check-in with YAYS!

We have a very good experience staying there (family with 2 kids). Great location, just 15 min walk from the Central station , nice clean and spacious apartment for family needs. Great stay! thank you for your hospitality!:)

Apartment was nice and spacious provided with almost everything you could need to ease your stay. The only thing I would recommend is provide more towels and toilet paper without charge especially to guest who are staying a week or longer. The double bed room is quite small, however the beds are comfortable. Would recommend one sized bed for that room as well as it is hard to fit the luggage if two people are sharing this room.
