Shipyard Park in the Charlestown Navy Yard is the place to be. Spectacular vistas of the Boston Harbor and skyline. Hang out on the adirondack chairs while awaiting the Ferry to Long Wharf. Sweet playground with water feature for the little ones. Amphitheater, Memorial, beautiful brick paths lined with historic lights for a romantic stroll … a little something for everyone! Make a day of it and visit the USS Constitution and Museum and great Navy Yard restaurants!

Place was beautiful to take a late night bike ride thru! They had a guard at the entrance which made me feel a bit more safe when exploring the place! They had a really cool bar inside that was decorated very nicely and I plan on going there when it’s open! I love how clean the place was and we had fun!

I feel so lucky to live next to the park, so much so that I share it with the many tourists and visitors I meet. My go-to tip for Boston touring is to 1) Walk the Freedom Trail 2) End at the USS Constitution 3)Take a break at Shipyard Park--enjoy the fountain and views 4) Have lunch at nearby Pier 6 (great views, food, and lobster roll for those who want to sample) 5) Take the MBTA ferry back--landing near Faneuil Hall and the Greenway. At $3.50 it is the best bargain in town. Every 15 mins during rush hour, 30 after that.

The Charlestown Navy Yard was the perfect place to walk along the harbor with my son and grandson on this spring-like February day. No better place to take in Boston skyline :)

USS Constitution is the oldest commissioned ship in the US Navy and is staffed with active duty personnel. Terrific ship to visit and learn about our early Navy.

Great place for a stroll and to get some insight into the history. If you can make it, walk all to the way the end, where Spaulding Hospital is to Menino Park and eve around past it to the largest (at the time) bandsaw (now a sculpture/art installation outside). Also, consider finding the spot where Paul Revere landed in Charleston at the time of his famous midnight ride, which is just southwest of where the USS Constitution lies.

A naval shipyard from 1800 to 1974. It's a great jumping off place for exploring Charlestown and of course the USS Constitution is located here. Old Ironsides is the oldest commissioned warship in the world. A little local secret: Purchase a flag on board from one of the sailors on and they will hoist it up the mast for you! When lowered it will be folded into a triangle and a certificate of authenticity signed by the commandant that it was flown aboard USS Constitution will be given at no extra charge.
