Middachten is a 17th century watercastle without defense features. It was build and still used as a house. One week per year it hosts a Christmas fair. You can visit the ground floor of the castle, rich in wood, paintings and decor. As extra, each room has been beautifully decorated for Christmas. In the basement is a small restaurant. The oval stairway is particularly noteworthy. The fair is cozy with some good food options and some non-typical stalls and decorations. Parking not free in this period (cash)

This castle was delightful. Although the castle itself is open during July and August only, the gardens are well worth a visit at only 6€. The orangery provides a pleasant cafe and patio. The rose garden is stunning.

Nice castle to visit. Took a tour which was rather superficial but still pleasant to see. Must be expensive to maintain this place!

Lovely gardens and castle. Small shop in the Orangerie had good service though there wasn't a lot to choose from. The grands were very well kept and organized.

Lovely castle which is still home to the family after 800 years. Didn't get to see the inside of the castle, which is only open on Sundays, but the gardens are open to the public most days of the week. Beautiful displays and flowers, the picture of opulence.

Well worth a visit, the house similar to National Trust properties, the family are connected to the Bentinck, Portland and Cavendish families which are renowned in the Midlands. The gardens are delightful, we had a conducted tour and it was a perfect day, the family still live in an adjacent manor which looks a beautiful building

Need to find out information on their website as the castle is open only for a limited time slots during high season with reservation. Simply Nice. Can improve on the selection of pastries. Friendly ladies & gents at the café and at the castle in providing information to visitors. Not allowed to take photos inside the castle.
