To anyone who arrives late in the city (after 7 p.m.), I do not suggest to book a reservation in this place. If you do, pay the extra charge for late entrance in advance (15 EUR, which is more expensive that the reservation in another hostels). If it happens that you have any unexpected event (troubles in the airport, you get lost in a city that you didn't knew, or you couldn't find the place before 9 p.m. because you did not see the 1 squared inch sign of the hostel); they won't hesitate to denying your stay. They will send you away no matter how hard you try to explain and how desperate you are. No need to tell, they will refuse providing any kind of refund. A friend of mine called me because he arrived in the city after 32 h traveling. He spent a lot of unexpected time in the airport and was compelled to take one of the last buses coming from there. We could not find the place and when we finally did, they sent us away. No possibility of paying late fee or any further option was given. They absolutely despised the safety, welfare and despair of someone who was a completely new guest in the city and had a reservation with them. I was totally taken aback for such lack of hospitality I had never felt before in Budapest. I am sorry that he kept you waiting, but believe me, it was not on purpose.

Really bad experience unfortunately. First our room entrance was through the only complete bathroom in the hostel so every time that we wanted to enter or leave our room we had to wait that the person in the bathroom finish their business. Disgusting, of course there wasn’t any ventilation so the smell was really strong. The room was ok, but they gave it to us with dirty towels inside, so clearly no one checked the room before that. At the end we left our things there after the check out and when we came back Julien the administrator, said we “destroyed” the wardrobe and the desk. I left my pullover on the wardrobe and the shelf came down, how heavy can be a pullover to “destroy” a wardrobe? We said it wasn’t us and clearly no one checked the room so probably were the guests before us, but Julien started to yail to us demanding a payment or we couldn’t get our things back. I said to him to call the police because he is not allowed to retain our things there against our will. He didn’t call the police and said we could pay what we think is worth. We left 10 euros just to get our things quickly and leave that disgusting place. But the whole situation seems made to guest pay extra. Shame on you! I will never come back and I don’t recommend anyone to stay here. I picked this hostel because of the good reviews but this situation is not the first time that happens, if you read the bad reviews as well you will see. Be careful!

There was nobody there to check in. I had to sleep in another place. I communicated this with people working there. They told me I can check next morning at 9am. Went there but seems like the owner didn’t know about that. He told me check in is not possible in the morning. That’s the way they treat people! That’s their „Zen“. Then they cancelled my booking directly and they got my money without staying in the hostel! Don’t stay there!! This hostel should be closed. They take your money without letting you stay there

Julian allows one of his workers at reception to be rude and unprofessional. Due to the fact that Julian said nothing as his worker spoke to me as if I were her child I said nothing and left without a word. The cleanliness is there, and for the most part everyone is polite, inexpensive lodging, great location, great place to meet travelers.

I have booked this hostel from Booking.com. As soon as I entered to the hostel everything seemed to be dirty and unorganised . There are a few rubbish bins by the entrance and all the walls are old and rotten And cracked . There is only one small fridge for the whole hostel and small community area . It was not mentioned on the website that it’s located on the second floor with no lift . The only thing that I liked was the receptionist customer care and nice attitude . I wouldn’t Recommend this hostel instead I would recommend Netizen for the cheaper price.

The blankets are old . There is no air conditioner. The lockers of toilets are not stable. I had an experience that I already locked the door but after several times of trying to open (people don't know that I am using it), someone made it. That was a girl who did that, but it still frightened me. And the girl giggled after doing that. Although I couldn't hear the words clearly, I thought I heard she and other roommates made fun of me or this situation. I was naked then, what if it's a man who did that ? Must be far more scary . There are many huge garbage cans around the gate, which were filled with smelly garbage for four days. (I stayed there only for 5 days ) The female room is way smaller than the male room (or mixed room? But there were only men living there during my stay). And the staff arranged the room for guests.

What makes this hostel so great is the guests, staff and location. The guests attracted to this hostel were all very polite and quiet at night. The staff, especially Yana, was very nice and helpful. The location could not have been any better. Highly recommend staying here.

The check-in never happened even though the owner received the payment.I was on the way to the hostel from central railway station (at 21.00) when i had a call from owner ,who told me that he was going to close the hostel and check in could be done only during working hours. I replied to him that i was able to take a taxi and go there in 5 min. •He denied to wait for me and he proposed me a friend s hostel to stay. •Even thought he received the payment for 3 nights there wasn't some tension from him to refund me. •Obviously the owner found a tricky way to steal people s money. •While other hostels give instructions how to get in when the arrival cannot be done at working hours.He proposed me to sleep at his friend's hostel instead(double charge for the accommodation).

Have been there for 3 days. Calm, clean and sincere place. Lots of love. Definitely recommend. Close to the chain bridge!

I would absolutely recommend this place to everyone!! I had the pleasure to stay there with a friend for two nights and it was great. The bedroom is amazingly big and the apartment was very clean; the flat has a very good location as the city center is a five minute walk and you can also have a bus and metro line near to the place. Though the place was great, the best thing for me was Julien, the person who runs the hostel. He treated us in the most amazing way and he made us a really good favor; he even brought us a dessert the day that we left because he felt sorry that the hot water was broken (already fixed).

A nice Hostel to stay with friends while visiting Budapest. I have booked a private room for 4 and we get one of the dorm room at first floor. From the pictures on Booking I have expected something different, maybe there are other private rooms at other floors more complet, but our was ok too. The atmosphere is very safe and friendly. Definitely suggested for a stay of few nights to enjoy the city!

We stayed in the private room with a shared bathroom. The location is great. The room was very big, clean and comfortable along with a lovely kitchen and bathroom. Very ‘homey’ accommodation. The people welcoming us along with Dimana constantly offered great advice and guidance on the best places to visit with really good recommendations etc. We highly recommend this hostel.

We arrived in Budapest and were greeted and checked in with no issue at all. We booked a private room, so it was a short walk from the main communal hostel. On our way there, we were shown some nice places to have food and sightseeing locations by the nice young lady who worked at the hostel. Our room was plenty spacious and had a nice homely feel to it with all the amenities you would expect to have in your own home. Perfect location for grocery shops and places to have dinner/lunch. Bed was a bit squeaky, but oh well, this did not matter much. We were able to leave our luggage in the main reception while we spent our last hours getting dinner and seeing a few more sights.

I booked double room with private bathroom. They were really kind and helpful, they helped me with all my wishes. The location was perfect. The room was cozy, big and comfortable. I'm really satisfied with all my stay at the hostel. It was a great value for the money. ❤️

The sternum is very nice. Here the location is excellent near the very beautiful Central Bridge, of course, it depends. In short, the service and what you want etc. I recommend it, maybe you found the room with fewer people in the room better, but it's fine anyway. However, the nice thing about the hostel is that you feel at home, that's it.

I had a great time in Zen Hostel! They have, to my knowledge, two locations. After a very friendly check-in I was brought to the second location which is about 5 minutes away. Both places had a very homely, kind and pleasant vibe. With a good kitchen, fun people and staff! And a whatsapp group for activities planned by visitors. The lockers were not really up to standard, but they already said they're gonna install new ones. Overall amazing vibe and stay!

One of my favorite hostels. The atmosphere feels super friendly, like being in a slumber party. I loved the decoration and the facilities. The kitchen is very well equiped, it gets a little crowded in the morning but I could always use it without a problem.

A very well laid out hostel, with large turn of the 19th C rooms, high ceilings, and very homely, and clean. The staff are very helpful, with lots of good advice about the city. WiFi is excellent, kitchen is good.

Spend 4 nights here and had a very good time. Quiet romms, good hosts, alltogether very cosy, homey atmosphere. Nice big living room. What's -App group for important updates or some community activities. You won't feel alone here.

Location is awesome. Staff is the best you can think of. People staying at the hostel are super friendly. Price is very good. Showers and toilets are okay. Cleaning is good. Cons: matress, bedsheets and pillows are ran down. I highly recommend to replace them, if possible.

Budapest was the last stop of my 3 weeks tour and this was easily one of the best hostels I've stayed at during my trip. This place is cozy and clean and the atmosphere is simply amazing. Staying here really felt like sharing a house with roommates. I can't recommend this hostel enough for solo travelers!

Great hostel with big clean rooms with high ceiling. Entering the building was done with codes, so it was very convenient. We had a good experience and will come again.

This place has it all if you are to come to Budapest for a few days and do not mind sleeping with presense of others in the room. To begin with, Julien is an amazing, kind, and down to earth kind of guy. The place is equipped with free fast enough wifi, big lockers, comfortable beds, clean towels, kitchen, bathrooms, showers, and heating. I really recommend this place and I would definitely come back whenever I am in Budapest.

The hostel is really clean and cosy, have multiple bathrooms and a nice kitchen with everything you might need. It is located near the city historical centre - 3 mins from the trolley station and 5 mins from the E100 bus stop. The best thing about the hostels is the people - and there I have met a lot of interesting people to hang out with :)

It was very busy when I arrived so had to wait 45 minutes before I could the checkin, but Julien's hospitality made up for it. It's located in a very nice old building, with high ceilings and beautifully decorated entry hall way. Close to many of Budapest's best sights

Great place to stay, right in the middle of Pest with good connectivity. The hostel is quite homely and the staff is very helpful. I stayed there for a week and did not face any issues at all. I always stay here when I am in Budapest. This place is like your own home: high ceiling, white interiors, very clean and great atmosphere.
