The office of the famous Nepali movie Maitighar was located in this place, hence the name of this place remained Maitighar. Later, when Keshab Sthapit was the mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, he built a beautiful mandal here. And it started to be called Maitighar Mandal. And this place is now called Maitighar Mandla. In fact, this is Maitighar Mandal, not Maitighar Mandala. A large mandala decorated with artwork, a beautiful structure with the national flag of Nepal etc. has contributed to the overall beauty of Kathmandu.
