The famous Nasi Ganja - you can find a long queue snaking outside the restaurant for takeaways. If you are dining in, just walk straight inside and find a free table - they will come and take your order. The taste is still good, but has dropped in quality compared to yesteryears in my opinion. It is advisable to come around 11am if you plan to dine in for lunch.

I have to say I don't understand why people are so crazy about it. The chicken is so dry & the texture isn't great at all. The spices & gravy are ok, I wasn't impressed by them. Overall I can only say the food is normal, not worth the time queueing for it.

Chicken was very dry. The 'ganja' (coconut sambal') is average. Nasi ganja does not live up to the hype. Try it once if you must, but skip if the line is too long.

ordered via grabfood because we had some trouble to dine in. the take away process was fast and easy. the taste is amazing. my daughter ate my portion of food and she loves the curry and chicken. heard that the queue is long for dining in so maybe next time we will opt for dining in to eat the nasi.

definitely nice and cheap but maybe not worth the wait for some people. waited for around half an hour under hot sun. need to order one drink per person. one person spent less than 15 ringgit. if im not mistaken not even 10 ringgit. quite a lot of choices inside. definitely need to ask for mix kuah. salted egg really added flavour into the mixed rice. chicken was so so, squid was not chewy and mutton was good and quite tender

You must try the famous ‘nasi ganja’, it truly is addictive! We came and had it with chicken, and everything was really tasty. The coconut sambal was incredible and mixed perfectly with everything on the plate, definitely stop in when you are in Ipoh. The overly hyped "Nasi Ganja" is not amazing nor close to delicious. Just so so. RM6. Price is ok. But it is super overrated considering it tastes extremely mediocre. Won't come again.

Halfway eating only realized that i have yet take photo of the nasi ganja 😅. Really loved the flavour. Ayam merah is good, gravy was just nice for my pallet. I came around 3pm so queue for about 5mins only.

Long queue but worth the wait. A must visit place and try their caramel pudding as well. Service is also good and would come again if we visit, Ipoh...price is also reasonable.

The coffee shop that is hosting the popular nasi ganja/nasi kandar ayam merah Ipoh. They are in charge of the venue and drinks. To be honest, the drinks are really good and well prepared. The teh ais is among the best I had in few places these days. The limau ais comes not only with lime but also lemon, which is quite refreshing on a hot day.

They serve really good nasi ganja or nasi kandar. They have 2 shoplots u can sit the shop beside that offer cendol as well. This shop has 2 business the Chinese only incharge of beverages while the ganja managed by mamak. Long queue all the while but if u r dining in u just need to find a seat, no need queue.

Truely a legend nasi kandar. You are lucky enough to get a dining table during peak hours. A set of Nasi ayam merah n kuah campur + acar timun and salty egg with sambal kelapa will make you cry to come back!

So simple, yet so tasty. I don't know how to describe it, but the combination of the fried chicken with the rice & gravy, plus the salted egg, was just perfect.

Nice food and fast service eventhough there are long Q outside.. For those completed 2 dose vaccine, u can dine in inside and no need to Q.. Option, u can take away and bring that ganja at cendol shop along Yong Suan shop lot to dine in there..

As someone who's used to tasty food within KL, I suppose I was expecting something at least on par with what the average KL Indian establishment has to offer, but I was unfortunately let down. The gravy itself is quite monotonous and lacks depth, it's definitely more on the watery side. The rice wasn't necessarily fragrant in any enticing way, and the dish overall was akin to that of what a sub-par KL restaurant would offer. The fried chicken was a bit on the chewier side and it wasn't the biggest either, I would say the dish as a whole is smaller in portion compared to KL, too. It's worth trying to see what the hype is about, but I wouldn't say you're missing out on much if you chose to skip this stop during your visit to Ipoh.

The queue was already forming after the opening but managed to order in a flash. Very hyped-up nasi kandar place and it was nice but it was not a "wow" experience. It was delicious. As a tourist, it's nice to go into a bustling resto to feel the vibe.

Visit date: 7/9/2023 I know taste is subjective but this nasi ganja didn’t hit the spot for us at all. No oomph, the gravy mixtures just didn’t work for us. We’ve tried so many nasi kandar (similar to nasi ganja) that are wayyyy better. Note: The coffee shop owner doesn’t allow you dine without ordering any drinks. Doesn’t make sense to me cos the nasi ganja stall is a tenant and paying rental (I hope) so why can’t I dine at the shop eating your tenant’s food and not order any drinks? 🤔 Thankfully we never have such experience in KL

The famous nasi ganja, only found in Ipoh. A bit overrated, but very good nasi kandar. Amazing gravy (kuah) and curry, paired with fried chicken is a recipe for success. A very reasonably priced meal which will guarantee to make you happy, not too spicy and just the right volume of every kuah nasi kandar to cover your rice. 8.8/10, overhyped but good. Would put 4.5 stars if google allowed.

Overall: cleanliness 9/10. Service:8/10 Price: EXCELLENT. The price of RM6.80 is normal set (take away) *present price Food: Can't beat the price. Big portion with generous serving the fried chicken (fried chicken breast), 1x crunchy ladyfingers and 1/2 salted egg. Come with hot steam rice. Not salty. * tasty home-cooked curry, not too spicy but can request hot spicy curry. No MSG aftertaste.

this place is somewhat overrated and overhyped. There are many other places in Ipoh that serve much tastier Nasi Kandar. Not only that, but the staff here are also quite rude. I've had enough and I won't be eating here again.

Nasi ganja here is the best. Queue will be super long during weekends but neighbouring shops selling cendol allow us to eat nasi ganja there. But i like their caramel pudding more. But for hygiene purpose, their workers and also workers from neighbouring shops need to learn some manners not to talk over the dishes without wearing face masks.

Went early at around 9.30am on Sunday. Still, there are many people. Car park is a major hindrance to come to this restaurant. Ordered 3 Nasi Ganja with chicken, squid and fish egg. Cost us rm55, a decent price. 3 milo drinks with 1 set of ‘roti bakar goyang’ for rm20. Need to pay saperately for the 2 orders. Cash for the drinks payment while qr code payment was accepted for nasi ganja. The restaurant was setup with traditional vibe. Like the food & the ambience. Will come again but not in the near future.

Makanan sedap. Cendol pon sedap. Service laju. Malas nak beratur? Boleh lah cari tempat duduk di kedai cendol sebelah. Boleh order nasi ganja sekali.

Cheap, fast, affordable and nice place to eat. Just get a seat, order food and drinks, 5 minutes later ready to eat. Iced coffee is so good, and rice with chicken priced @ RM6.80. Crowd is there but the staff managed them very well!

    1) very inconvenient parking on a Sunday afternoon, especially for a group of 11 persons. 2) The fried chicken ribs and chicken breast are quite tough to bite, and pose as a challenge for my jaw and teeth. 3) The curry prawn looks nice, however the shrimp is not fresh. 4) The beef curry and coconut chilli paste are tasty, but i need to drink 750ml of mineral water to quench my thirst later.

The 'nasi ganja' - simply ordinary taste. Not worth it, especially if you have to que-up for it. It just a hype - and definitely overrated..!! Haha..!! The cendol - also simply ordinary taste..

Overrated, but it's super cheap compared to other mamak restaurants, only RM6.80. Located inside a chinese restaurant. I went there around 12 pm but sotong was already finished. For tapau had a long queue meanwhile for dine in, can just enter and sit at any empty table. Service was fast. Only the food, just rice and gravy and the chicken was too hard. It might be crispier after taking it out of the pan. But cold chicken is hard. Fried chicken and ayam masak merah, tasted not different cause the masak merah was too dry. It's enough to try once in a lifetime, not going back again.

Taste is just passable. It is crowded because it is called NASI GANJA. If you are there just to try, it is ok. Just go the regular deal, fried chicken and salted eggs. Don't go for the prawns or squids, very pricey.

This is a no nonsense restaurant. You come in sit, order, eat, pay and go. The food is soooo good. I was amazed by their good taste and simplicity. A must adventure when one go to ipoh. The only problem is parking. You might have to take a walk.

Old school.chknese coffee shop serving Nasi Ganja (Kandar). Best of both worlds The guy won't give you extra curry, will ask you to "makan dulu" (eat first)

Tried the famous Nasi Ganja at this kopitiam, the gravy is aromatic and had its own taste. You need to order from two different counter for kopitiam thingy and Nasi Ganja. Staff from two operator will approach your table for order. The service was very efficient where you dont need to wait too long to get your table although the que was long during my visit (lunch hour). There are two seperate que lines, one for dine in, and another one is for those who prefer to take away. IMHO, the que makes the other restoran operators tried to take advantage in offering Nasi Ganja hassle free service to the customer by walking in their outlet instead of having it at the kopitiam. My advice, just walk in to the real place to feel the real old kopitiam ambience plus the place was very clean and the service was tip top. You should try its home made kaya used in the toasted bread and their pudding caramel!

Even on weekday this place is still packed with crowd. You can opt to sit at neighbours cafe to savour the food but please order their specialty Cendul Kacang Merah (RM 5) & Cendul Durian (RM 12). Service was prompt. Neighbour cafe has QR payment options but Nasi Ganja need to pay separately before eating. We paid RM 14 for 2 packs of Rice, Fried Chicken, Salted Egg with gravy. Its so delicious & chicken is well marinated. Will definately come back again.

Nasi was fragrant and curry was good. Chicken was on the hard side. Ordered Kopi / teh ice which was too sweet for our liking.

Come here for the famous Nasi Ganja. A restaurant that you would see queue almost everyday during lunch hour. There is someone will arrange table for people who queue outside. The drinks were good, the Teh O Ice Limau & Limau Ice come with Limau & Lemon which is very refreshing to pair with Nasi Kandar. Pay separately with Nasi Ganja. They accept cash only.

#ProTip - Whenever you come across a multi-racial restaurant esp. old ones like this. Give it a try. Highly likely it’ll be a delicious and gastronomic experience for your stomach. Coffee was excellent - Kopi ais with Nasi Ganja combo! Came here early on Sunday morning and it was a bliss - not too crowded. If you’re eating in, just come in and have a seat. Both drinks and food will be ordered for you 🤪

I give 5 star for the food there. But u have to have patience to wait in queue and eat fast so others can seat later. Not like they are chasing you or anything, but just the thought that many are queuing, u just automatically do that 😂 The price is affordable. Loveeee the nasi kandar and roti bakar.
