Was booked for three nights, left after one because of the state of the house. Dirty, run down and not at all worth the price. Additionally, were informed by the house owner that the person who shared a room with us was not meant to be there and that they were going to be in contact with the police about it but didn’t even offer a refund despite us sleeping next to someone who shouldn’t even have been there. Unsafe and unprofessional, do not go here.

rooms are unclean and the owners we think are avoiding taxes as our card payment went through on their booking website and was later bounced by them, we tnen received messages late at night that asked us to pay with PayPal, which we did however we noticed that the PayPal payment went to an individual, not a business. I recommend paying for a proper hostel though a little bit more money you'll rest easy knowing the room has been cleaned between guests and there is actually someone actually on the front desk also security since as far as we saw codes on doors are never changed between guests and sometimes neither is bedding book somewhere better as this is non-refundable as the owners know if it was everyone would.

I wanted to book for 4 nights, but the community manager asked me to pay by wire transfer before and deposit $100. I replied that it was impossible for me and I preferred to pay at the hostel. I had never seen this before, depositing a lot of money to book nights, he was a very rude man, very rude. I do not advise you to go there.

They are scammer, theyre saying that my card is invalid in agoda.com and they want me to transfer directly to their paypal account. I verified with the bank if my card is invalid, and i confirmed that there is no issue on my card. They are just Disgusting. I just reported what happened in the agoda.com

I called from their doorstep and was able to book a room by e-transfer. The room was a 3 person dorm style but I was in it by myself. It's a bit dated and the walls are paper thin. But if you're a traveller on a budget it's clean, safe and you'll meet some nice people.

Do not expect a clean, comfortable accomodation and be prepared for a lot of dirt, a badly equipped kitchen, uncomfortable beds and weird scratchy noises from the ceiling (honestly i don't wanna know whether these are rats, mice or squirrels). Yeah it's somewhat cheap, but once you arrive here you'll know why...

The manager is so Rude with people. They don't let you pay with credit or debit is so expensive and is doesn't worth it. They don't let you stay not even a minute after your check in. And if you want to stay another day they told you cant because they have other reservations so your stay is not sure. I definitely don't recommend this place. I made a lot of friends that was the only good thing.

Extremely poor customer service! They would only text me on whatsapp and refused to answer my calls. They told me that would be canceling my booking I made online and would decline my card as they only wanted e transfer. They declined my card three times and said the ONLY way I could pay was by etrasnfer. I called booking.com who I made the booking through and they agreed that this was extremely unsafe. Overall terrible experience with them and would not recommend booking with them.

Place is very sketchy, definitely some tax evasion going on. Landlord(s) not very helpful,quite rude. Me and my partner booked a private room and got to the location and then got asked to get in someones car and got driven a block and a half away. Rooms are filthy stains on the duvet and mattress cover. Place hadnt been dusted or properly cleaned in a long time. Absolute rip off too! Could not reccomend the place less!

This is most likely an illegal operation. I originally booked through Hostel world, like I have used many times before. You have to first email the owner to get check in information. They then ask you to text them to confirm & send your photo ID and picture of your credit card through text messages. We tried to pay with a credit card & they only supplied a Paypal link - likely because PayPal won't refund money if there is an issue. After telling the staff I was uncomfortable sending my ID and credit card information over text messages, they threatened me and cancelled my booking.

don’t stay here if you’re a women, management monitors the home through cameras so theres no one actually there. Felt kind of like staying in a fraternity. The female 5 room dorm is really nice but the atmosphere in general is eery

This place is a scam. Be careful - book somewhere else. They will ask for an etransfer and pressure you to pay. The "owner" CAROL has several locations around Burnaby, BC so watch out for her name.

Don’t write a bad review BEFORE getting your damage deposit back. I learned that the hard way during check out (say goodbye to your $100 if you do). Terrible customer service. Don’t stay here

They couldn't get my credit card to work . it worked before and after just fine. No-one at the place to discuss this , all over the phone .

Would like to give zero stars if possible. It's a horrible smelling, broken and damp house, the kitchen is in poor conditions (for example there ist just one spoon for all) and the room we got was different to the booked one. Also a few chairs were broken too and we almost hurt ourselves. Booked to nights, left after one... no recommendation at all.

One of the best experience. I usually don't stay at guesthouses but this place changed my perspective :) During my trip I stayed in a hostel in downtown Vancouver and then here, this was way better in terms of cleanliness and service. Free roadside parking. Best management - very kind and sweet. I had to extend my stay and it was a busy long weekend but they went lengths to help me extend without changing rooms. Met couple of German folks and made few good friends too. I miss this place :)

Worst place I've ever stayed! The building is very run down and there were old mattresses left stacked out by the house entrance (a basement side door). Everyone was pleasant, but the general lack of professionalism & efficiency was very dissappointing. Several guests were sent back out in the storm to find an atm to pay (cash only which isn't advertised or communicated to you upon booking). You also have to buy your own toilet paper once your rationed half roll is gone. Boarding house turned frat house by night. The posted 10pm quiet time is a joke! The house didn't quiet down until 4am one night and after midnight another. Not to mention the house smelling like vomit the next morning food, drinks and open/empty alcohol containers left throughout the house. Location was the only thing this place had to offer that was positive.

They are constantly trying to move you their off site 10 person per room doorms. It was quite uncomfortable for me being a woman and new to the area.

I think people who are leaving negative reviews need to manage their expectations. This place is clean, safe, comfortable, well organized, and affordable. What more do you need? I’ve had a great stay and would absolutely stay here again if I’m passing through town! Very quick to respond on WhatsApp, nice hosts who actually know your name, and the guests I’ve met have been very nice too.

It’s not to bad. Clean for the most part. For the price you can go wrong if you’re only staying a night or 2.

I found it easy finding the place by map and public transit. Residence is clean and neat. Mostly self service portal everything but a gentle reminder me one can be helped if need be I'm loving the experience

This is the WORST place to stay in CANADA 🇨🇦!! The manager was a rude & racist person! She hung up on me and cancelled my stay and I had nowhere else to go @ 11pm at night! I hope this place goes out of business and from reading 📖 the other 1 or 2 star 🌟 reviews , it seems like the DTES is 100 💯 times cleaner then here too!!! People don’t waste your $$ staying here! You get what you pay for right ? That’s why this place has rodents in the ceiling!

The owners of this establishment extort money. They take a deposit, they charge more for the night, When you've already arrived with your things, it's impossible to get there.

I’ve stayed here twice and enjoyed both visits! Although it used to be someone’s house so not the most well laid out place the beds are always comfortable, it’s clean and the prices are great. It’s a good place to go for a chill visit

Check in was a nightmare. Lazy and poorly set up. I would say that's what's expected at a hostel but this place wasn't overly cheap. I would avoid it if you can.

I stayed at one of their locations on waverly avenue Burnaby. I had the best experience, the place was very clean, comfortable and quiet, there was safety at all times and the owner always responds almost immediately with all queries. She was extremely polite and very accomodating. The bathroom and kitchen are cleaned every single day and they change the towels which makes the place very hygienic. The prices are very reasonable compared to other places and also very convenient for transportation for both busses and skytrain. I would definitely recommend this place. Thanks a lot for a great stay. :)

Stayed for one night at the dorm. Reasonable for the price. Self Check-in option works well, that process is organized. The rooms, halls and closets are disorganized, and not very clean. Mattresses and bedsheets packed everywhere. Wet laundry was sitting on top of the dryer etc. Could be made better.

The host is lovely, extremely helpful and attentive. We arrived late so we're instructed how to self check-in via WhatsApp which went fine, felt like we were doing an escape room. We only stayed one night but this is a good, cheap option for those looking for jobs etc or staying a while in Vancouver. Not suitable for people looking for a social atmosphere or city centre hostel vibe. Walls are quite thin and one of the beds we had was not comfortable. Nice but small kitchen, lots of fridge space in other areas of the house. It is basically just a house split into hostel rooms but it is a good option for people who need a base in Vancouver with easy access to transport to the centre.

I slept in the 10 bed dorm for about $25 (hostelworld fee included). It was decently clean, though there was a slightly off smell. The bed was okay, except all the bottom bunks were taken and seemed like those people had been there quite a while as their stuff was all over the floor. There was no outlet or anything near my bunk and because of the bottom bunk person there wasn't really space to even put my stuff. I didn't see any lockers either. This one dude came stomping into the room at like 1:30am, turned the light on blasting the otherwise dark and sleeping dorm with light, then he left without turning the light off for a few minutes. Then he came back and did the same thing AGAIN like half an hour later. Not the hostels fault I guess but annoying as heck. The bathrooms and kitchen seemed pretty good. The living room was a little awkward just cause of the three silent dudes sitting there but was a nice enough space. It's a house that has been converted into a hostel. There were ample bathrooms seemed to me. It's in Burnaby in a quiet residential neighborhood so there's not a lot of culture or anything in the neighborhood but the SkyTrain is efficient for getting into Vancouver. I dunno, I had a bad sleep but the price was low and I think a single room would be worth it.

I had a great time at the backpacker Hostel. The check in was unorthodox but easy to manage. I made a lot of friends including the helper Melody. She was really helpful and welcoming. She was very popular with the group in the hostel. Thanks for making our stay in the Backpacker hostel special.

its a nice accommodation with friendly individuals/strangers. I stayed there when I just got to Canada and it provided me shelter, comfort, and fast access to the Metropolis

Rachid was really efficient and helpful. The place is basic, really chill and homely. Bathrooms were clean and bed was comfy. I was there in winter and it was warm enough inside. Really casual and nice people. Great price. Close to sky train and shopping centre.

Just rooms with beds, I bought my own tv and paid 121.00 a day. I should've booked her at the sandman hotel on davie for less

There is very good. It’s near the station and shopping mall. Then there are good rooms. Staff are very kindness. If you go to Vancouver, you should stay Vancouver back packer house.

House is old and smells a bit but overall, it’s a good place for 50$ a night. Location is really good and staff is helpful and understanding.

Henry the the housekeeper was perfect guy. He was a really nice person. Always helping me with my doubts and concerned about what do I need. For other instance the place was neat but no as comfortable for one stayover. Quiet expensive for my point of view. But the attention they bring was really good.

I think most people leaving a 1 star review are trying to treat this like a hotel experience when it is exactly what it says it is, a simple and quick place to sleep for people traveling. I was able to book a room at nearly midnight and they were still able to accomodate me, for what you pay it is a great service and I'd stay here again if I was traveling through town.
