😠 I wish there were 2 options in rating Edmonds: the gym and the pool. I haven't been to either since precovid, but when I went today (gym) I was disgusted. The staff were very nice though. While the equipment and the utility is beautiful and new, the people working out have no manners, don't sanitiz... I wish there were 2 options in rating Edmonds: the gym and the pool. I haven't been to either since precovid, but when I went today (gym) I was disgusted. The staff were very nice though. While the equipment and the utility is beautiful and new, the people working out have no manners, don't sanitize their equipment, and hog more than one machine at a time. Just walking around the gym, I see guys taking up the bench and the stool simultaneously, and other dudes using the cables and dumbbells. He almost got into an altercation with a couple for refusing to swap turns. I'm never coming here again. Unless there may be a better time of the day. I can't rate the pool yet, but when I swim, I will change the review.

We love the pool here. Kids used to have swim lessons here, but it is hard to get in because it is so popular and busy. The hot tub is very very hot, although the jets are not strong. They have a water slide that is open often on in the evenings. They have a lazy river connected to a smaller pool, and the water is nice and warm. Haven't really used any of the other facilities at Edmonds such as gym or weight room or dance/aerobics area. Generally there is not really a place for kids to "play". Unless specificaly family/public swim, the big pool is more for lanes and doing laps. I would say Edmonds pool is more for younger kids than for teens. The younger kids can go around the lazy river, and there is also a small baby kids slide.

We come here for the pool and it is by far the best on this side of Vancouver. The water is warm. The design is beautiful and fun. Plenty of showers and the water is the perfect temperature. Staff is incredibly friendly. Even when crowded there is a lot to do. The best pool in Burnaby by far.

I would say this is one of the best indoor pools I have ever been to. My only complaint is that some parents seem to think the pool is a great place to leave their kids unattended while they go off to do errands. I have seen it happen a few times before. On one occasion my wife and I went to the pool after a long day at work. In the lazy-river, there were some young boys playing tag and horsing around. Then we saw one of the boys get upset and there was an argument. One of them got angry and threw a punch at another child. The lifeguards quickly got 2 or 3 of these kids out of the pool for a chat. The parents were nowhere to be found so these kids basically got a time-out and a slap on the wrist. I think the pool needs to introduce a policy where anyone under the age of 13, for example, must be accompanied by an adult at all times. This is a public recreation centre for everyone to enjoy. It is not a day care for misbehaving children.

Re: the fitness centre specifically. I really want to like this gym, it's convenient and the facility is generally nice. However, it has some issues. I'd strongly recommend the fitness centre management team re-evalute a few things. 1. The power lifting equipment should be removed. This is a public facility that is meant to be accessible to the community and the power lifting equipment takes up a massive amount of room and attracts only power lifters and high school students (who are often misusing the equipment in dangerous ways). 2. Etiquette needs to be reinforced, especially among the younger male attendees of the gym. Working out in clusters of 4 or 5 for long periods of time is not appropriate or respectful of the shared space. 3. There are so few women or seniors who use this facility - AKA the majority of our community - and I imagine it's because of how unpleasant an environment this space has become. It would really benefit the facility to reground in the intention of a public fitness space - something that supports the public. If people want a specialized power lifting gym experience, they should attend a dedicated facility. If you're not a male high school student or a power lifter, this gym has little to offer you, and is often profoundly crowded.

Disgusted by people's lack of hygiene standards, impudent attitude, and cavalier etiquette. They don't shower before entering the pool, bringing sweat, urine, dirt, and body fluids to the water, not realizing their own skin absorbs all those chemicals quicker when dry. Maybe this is a feature of North American culture - if this was Europe the facility would immediately boot out anyone who doesn't shower. Good hygiene benefits everyone. Other gross stuff I've observed: shoes inside locker storage with clothes, walking around barefoot in locker room (risking athlete's foot fungal infection), drying genitalia with dryer, peeing inside pool, towels on floor...the list goes on. Educating and enforcing standards to users of facility is also the responsibility of the community centre. There are no signs to encourage good behaviour and no one to watch and remind. There are no instructions provided with your membership. The facility infrastructure is nice but is ruined by people's unsanitary habits.

Best community center I have ever been to. Gymnasium and weight rooms are top notch. Childminding services are nice and super clean. The pool, lazy river, children area and slides are unique.

2+ months for a pool, or ANYTHING to be fixed is ridiculous. If this was private owned and actually had to make $ to stay in business, a week tops! It’s the middle of June 2022, and it’s still down. Going over 2 months now? Come in already! Update. July 8! Pool closed MAY 21! Still down! And now they are shutting down Park July 4-20th. In the middle of the summer! Honestly. Who TF is running this place?! You have 9-10 other months to do that, and you choose the 2 months of summer break. Honest to God. Sept 15update, STILL DOWN! Come on now. Seriously!?! Ridiculous

Horrible Customer service. Staff are not friendly at all. This facility is built with tax payers money. Please have a mature person to supervisor and manager this place better. Andrew at the pool area claims to be the supervisor needs to improve his communication skills and learn how to deal with members and customers.

Bout a membership to engage swimming lessons. When the weather is getting nicer and want to use a swimming pool, the center closes swimming pool. Never finish repairing and very disappointed. They took money from public but ignored to reopen a swimming pool when the weather is getting warm. Some staff at the counter are very rude when they were asked pool opening timeline. Please do repair quickly.

Lots of parking underground. Great outdoor space next door. Pool designed for water fun (2 side by side slides) but only 3 lanes for swimming and often 2/3 taken by swim club. Some growing pains with staff. Closes too early for me.

I recently started attending fitness classes at the Edmonds CC. The CC offers a good variety of classes to fit most age groups and personal needs/likes. The classes are good, fun, they start on time and the instructors are very good, nice and friendly. I was hoping to use their exercise room. That however has not been possible. The exercise room is small and jam packed with equipment which makes it more difficult to get around. Secondly, the facility is co-ed. Nothing wrong with that. Except that its users tend to be high school young males that sometimes work out in groups which translates into having to wait long periods of time to be able to use a particular piece of equipment. Some of us do not have a lot of time to go to exercise and the last thing we want to do is wait for a group of friends taking too long using a piece of equipment. The exercise room is definitely not mature people friendly. I also have to say it does not smell clean, not even when it is not busy, filled with people. It is disappointing not being able to use this facility which I am supposed to be able to do, because of the above reasons. It will be nice if management look into ways of improving this service since we pay for it. Last but not least and this is perhaps what bothers me the most and the reason for the rating. That reason is the POOR Customer service offered on a regular basis in this CC. With few exceptions, lots of their reception desk representatives are either rude or show very poor customer service skills while dealing with customers. Some look absolutely bored, uncaring. Others are plain rude. Few nights ago I went to renew my monthly pass and was greeted by "What do you want?". I was shocked. I had some questions to ask regarding the pass and a yearly membership. Again, I was asked in a exasperating tone: "What is it that you want?". I finally managed to ask 2 simple questions which were answered with absolute disdain and a sense of unnecessary urgency because they were not busy. The person was more interested in yelling to a kid that was leaving, not to bounce his basketball inside, than being courteous and helpful. I had honestly contemplated getting the annual membership since, despise the issues with the exercise room and the crazy busy at times parking lot, I have enjoyed the fitness classes and the fact that is conveniently close, I thought I would still go for the annual membership which, it is not cheap, let me tell you that. After that poor, rude customer service, I changed my mind. I know they probably won't mind/care about losing a customer, they have lots of them nonetheless. I also know chances are they won't read any of this which is too bad because that will only allowed or make more room for poor services towards the locals, visitors and the general public. And that is not right nor acceptable. I had used their services in the past. Some years have passed since. A new facility but same old issues. Too bad.

We were there for a shower only. Great bargain for a buck. Shower area was clean. I will say tho...should you be going there as a traveler, just for a shower? Request you be allowed into the pool showers. There water temp in the shower only area was lukewarm at best. I mentioned to staff and was told about requesting pool shower. Two separate boilers, apparently.

This is a great community centre, but I wonder if the facility is too small for the area, especially at peak times. The gym can get really crowded and sometimes seems light there is not enough equipment to go around. Lots of people not showing good etiquette, with a lack of sharing. Too many people on the equipment doing nothing but using their phones as well. Gym change room is small, especially if more than 2 people need to use it Parking can be a hassle in the underground parking too. When not crowded, the facilities are great otherwise.

Pool still closed. The management and city of Burnaby don’t help to reopen soonest. Families need the pool and Summer is around the corner. The staff simply said use other center. Gas price is skyrocketing and don’t want to drive further. City of Burnaby, please don’t turn blind on it. Burnaby residents really need to use pools.

Great community center with fitness facilities, an awesome pool with a lazy river, waterslides, and a children's play area. There are also multi purpose areas that can be used for indoor soccer, volleyball, and general play area for toddlers. Parking is decent above and below ground.

Great facilities, used to go the pools a lot with my kids. But I have to say there have too many instances where patrons are lacking in physical and moral hygiene. I’d rather go to the Coquitlam side where it’s more family oriented.

Edmonds Community Centre offers a well-rounded recreational experience. The facilities, including the gym and swimming pool, cater to diverse fitness preferences. The staff is friendly and helpful, creating a welcoming atmosphere. The range of programs and classes provides options for various interests and age groups. However, peak times can get crowded, affecting the availability of certain amenities. Overall, Edmonds Community Centre is a valuable community resource, offering a variety of activities and services for residents.

My friend and I have been playing pickleball since pre-Covid and have always enjoyed the friendly atmosphere at Edmonds Community Centre. We want to take this opportunity to thank all the hard working front counter staff especially Vandana, Andra and TJ and other staff members such as Jeremy, Noel and Brandon etc. Currently, pickleball sessions have been a challenge to get in and Vandana, Andra and TJ have been very positive and supportive in understanding the situation. Once again, we would like to thank all the staff at Edmonds Community Centre for providing all attendees a safe and fun environment.

Pool is fun for my toddler but I wish the floors were cleaned on a regular basis and by regular basis I mean 30 minute to 60 minute intervals. So must hair and gunk 🤮 I didn't see anything being sanitized or cleaned in either of my two visits. Athletes foot for everyone! 🤢

Usually I just keep my mouth shut, but today over 50 taxpayers experienced a terrible service again at our community center for program registration for our children/future taxpayers, same terrible service every year, NO ONE cares to make a change or even trying to improve. Over 50 people waiting in the line for hours, but ONLY two wickets open for service! Labour shortage? No, they had 3 staff standing to guide the line which really they just need one staff and the other two can jump on to help. There were 5 ladies working, ONLY two to help all parents/grandparents register programs for their children - they both are trying their best to help, another amazing lady was helping the drop-ins (she is very efficient, please ask her to share best practices), AND two other ladies on the phone and avoiding eye contact with poor people who have been waiting for hours. I saw extremely upset parents left being told everything is full and they just wasted hours of their time, do you know why? Because all other community centers are faster and have more staff who care to help, not just standing and wondering around at their own workplace. Plus their website crashes every year at this time! They just love the way it crashes!

Disgusting this pool is so poorly maintained. 2 chlorine rashes and my eyes burn from this pool. I'm surprised they are aloud to stay open. I saw clumps of hair and toilet paper floating in the water like a human soup of toilet water. Complained about this before and no one cleans anything. Big change from their covid times and I swam laps during that time. The pool is a great pool to swim at nice natural light if it was clean

I don't know what kind of mickey mouse operation this. I called to register for a program at 6.17am. Their website says they open at 6am. Their voice message says they are not opened. I called again at 6.35am and the same voice message says they are not opened and to call back the next working day. If they are not opened during the hours stated on their website, they should at least change their voice message to say so.

I am appalled by the abysmal level of customer service I encountered during my visit to the Edmonds Community Center. The reception staff's behavior was shockingly rude and unprofessional, leaving me deeply disappointed. Upon entering the facility, I interacted with three women at the reception who seemed to have no regard for basic courtesy. They spoke to me as if I was invisible, displaying a complete lack of respect. Even my father, who accompanied me, was taken aback by their dismissive attitude. To make matters worse, when I sought assistance and asked questions, one staff member responded with unnecessary rudeness. Instead of providing helpful answers, she condescended to me, leaving me feeling flustered and disheartened. But that was not the end of it. During the process of having my picture taken for the center's pass, the person behind the camera had the audacity to make an uncalled-for comment. They remarked, "You look a lot serious in the picture." When I politely requested a retake, their response was dismissive, saying, "It's okay; we like to capture the true personality of people." This kind of behavior is absolutely unacceptable. The primary responsibility of the reception staff should be to assist visitors and create a welcoming environment, not to pass judgment on people's appearances or make derogatory comments. I expected better treatment from a community center. I sincerely hope that the management of the Edmonds Community Center takes this review seriously and initiates necessary actions to rectify the situation. The reception staff urgently needs training on basic customer service skills and proper communication. If they are unable to fulfill their roles or dislike interacting with people, they should reconsider their suitability for positions that require constant public interaction. As a paying visitor, I believe it is crucial to raise awareness about the appalling customer service I experienced. Future visitors should not have to endure such a negative encounter. It is my hope that improvements are made promptly, ensuring a respectful and welcoming environment for all.

Very frustrating experience this afternoon @ Edmonds Community Centre. Going into have a swim & in the locker room the 1st locker that i attempted to put the quarter in. It was full & the locker would not allow me to secure it for security for my belongings. I tried another locker & got the same result & another the same result, Lockers 1300,1313, & 1314 were full & would not accept any more quarters. When i explained to the male receptionist he wanted to give me more quarters. I told him that would not help the lockers don't accept the 1/4s. The third time i explained it to him he finally got it. He said come back with your card & we will credit the card. I brought my card back after making sure i didn't leave any thing behind. The female receptionist was helpful & credited my card. She offered to get someone to assist with the lockers. After trying 3 times I was spent & slight headache was coming on. The centre needs to make sure the lockers are emptied of the 1/4's. I was not willing to leave my belongings in a locker with the poss that they would be stolen. Some do leave belongings in the locker with no locker secured I am disappointed & frustrated that the cent4e is poorly managing their lockers. Hopefully this will wake their management up & correct this frustrating problem. I would have given a 0/5 but because the lady credited my card i gave 2/5. Be careful when you go to Edmonds Community Centre when using the lockers to secure your belongings.

Tonight I took my wife and children to swim. We used the family changing room, but why were almost all the family changing rooms occupied by single people? After swimming, my wife had to take the children and wait for those single adults to open the family changing room for us. The door was opened, but after entering, we found that the ground was full of garbage and melon seed peels. This was simply unacceptable. What’s even more unacceptable is that when I wanted to let staff know about this, there was an old white lady sitting in the staff area who looked like a supervisor. She didn’t want to talk to me at all, even never looked at my eyes, just placed the sign of queue aside in front of me, so I queued up to show the situation to the young staff at front desk, got understanding, begin to write the customer comments form. The old lady heard my voice and started to get a little bit nervous and kept asking her subordinates what I said. For such kind of person, I think she is not worthy of the position in the community center, because she has no empathy and don't wanna help people at all. I even don’t know whether she’s a racist or not. What I experienced today was so disappointing.

My family and I are absolutely outraged by the unsanitary conditions and dirt in the locker rooms at the Edmonton pool.  I have never seen such dirt anywhere!  The floor is so dirty with hair, debris and dirt that it is impossible to step on.  The drains of the sinks and showers are completely clogged with hair, which gives the worst feeling about the sanitary condition of this establishment.  after all, visitors bring everything that is on the floor with their shoes and feet into the hall and the pool. I ask the administration to take action immediately.  If measures are not taken soon, I will personally contact the relevant authorities to ensure inspections of water quality and sanitary conditions, as well as all possible community groups for support. It is also unacceptable to use hair dryers to dry legs and other parts of the body. Please put up signs stating that people under the drying machine should be properly dressed in their underwear with their genitals covered, and not dry them under the machine in the middle of the corridor. This is still not a public bathhouse, but a sports center that children attend. It is also unacceptable in the girls' locker room for boys, please post a reminder to parents that there are family locker rooms for this, last time there was a boy of about seven years old in the locker room with us, which does not fit into any framework of decency. Sincerely your visitors

I've literally been trying to call them for days to connect with reception and ask a few questions but haven't been able to connect with anyone yet. It's like nobody is ever working the phones. All I get is an automated message saying they're experiencing higher than expected call volume. If that's the case then hire more people...

Been taking classes here; it is a modern building with nice central location. Among other things they have a huge spacious gym, a pool area with slide, steam and sauna. Surrounded by lovely greener and plenty of food and shopping options, it is a cool community centre to visit.

I love the steam room and the people but the staff can't give me 4 quarters for 4 people to use the lockers. I was told by one staff its the other staff who don't want or know how to count. Come on now why charge for quarters if u expect me to do 2 transactions to pay for my visit. Not only that when I plead with some staff they look down on me n talk rude. Why is this such a barrier to enjoy a workout n a dip

Disgusting! As Ghetto as it gets! The floor in the pool and bathroom look absolutely disgusting! We usually go to our close one West van! They were close for today and looked up pools with slides this came up! We all regreted as soon as we got there then after all my daughter was not even able to use the slide , they have this stupid rule where they have to be over 6 years old for some reason? Most places would only have restrictions by stature and not age seems very very silly to me . Never coming back of course to this Nasty place.
