Food: I find the food, sometimes, is a hit or miss. But overall, it was good. Beverage was more on the downside. Some drinks are made with artificial colours like Galaxy. They also offers soft serve, which is pretty good. Favourite dish(es): Okonomiyaki Waffle - Unique combo, savoury toppings over a freshly made waffle. And the soft serve. Service: Exceptional. It can be slow during busy hours. Environment: Beautiful interior forest themed design. Trees and green decors with a touch of fairytale. The wall of Manga books at the back is there for you to read while dining at the cafe. Other Comments: Laptop usage and studying is not allowed. No wifi provided. Limited to one hour stay during busy time. Recommend: Yes, especially if you love manga and just for the gram.

Very delicious!! We came in at 3pm Saturday, and it’s almost full! Their omelet is very original, inside the rice is cooked with ketchup, ketchup goes so well with omelet💖 and their fried chicken is tasty too! Worth paying a visit🥳 They also have a lot of mangas, if you are interested in Japanese culture then this cafe will be your fit😚

This café has such a comfy ambiance! There's shelves of manga that you can read, numerous anime figurines, and faux flowers hanging from the ceiling! You'll definitely feel transported when you enter! On top of that, the food has a "homestyle" vibe to it. My food was served hot and fresh! The Honey Butter Garlic Karaage was crispy, juicy, and on the sweeter side. Luckily it helped balance out the Okonomiyaki Waffle since the sauce was wayyyy too salty. I did enjoy the composition of the waffle though. It had bits of egg, and lots of green onion! They also sell various bubble tea drinks here, and the location is also super accessible as it's about a minute walk from the Royal Oak Skytrain station.

Best place for all anime & manga lovers!❤ The whole ambience is really beautiful and cozy. I went with my Japanese friend and she loved it. We ordered the strawberry shortcake, mango smoothie and Taiwan Mango mocktail. She recommended that I read Gintama and I recommended her to start Bleach. Time flies by really quickly. They have mouth-watering Japanese food which I will come back to try!😆

Such a great cafe. Huuuuuge collection of manga (Japanese comics), most in Japanese but some in English too, so grab a book and get some coffee / waffles. The waffles themselves are pretty incredible as well. We got the Choco banana waffles (which had a nice touch of sliced almonds), and the matcha waffles which were topped by cornflakes layered by whipped cream and ice cream. Amazing stuff. In the drinks, we tried the melona ice with lychee jelly and that was great. Easy to recommend, this place deserves to have more publicity.

The Tiramisu is a little expensive but probably my favourite! The blue galaxy drink was pretty and had mango jelly which was hard to drink but overall very good. Recommend the chicken, the curry was just ok. There isn’t a parking lot but street parking in the area and a time limit for seating.

October 13th, 2023 Update We just keep on coming back to this place. Love the food, drinks, decor, the relaxing ambiance and their extensive collection of Manga! Our daughter is in love with their soft serve Matcha ice cream and we can see why as they really do make an awesome Matcha ice cream! She loves it so much that she no longer has the patience to let me take a photo of it before eating. She dug into her Matcha ice cream right away this time, so...no photo of it this time! Galaxy Blue Rose Matcha Parfait CocoMango Baked Cheese Tart Baked Matcha Tart Loved all of our drinks and nibbles but next time, I think we're all going to have our own order of Matcha Soft Serve ice cream. Their Matcha ice cream is soooo good and I'm really tired of taking just one scoop and letting our daughter eat the rest of it! Service: Good Parking: Paid parking directly in front of the store. Free parking nearby, on the street. Location: #105 - 6888 Royal Oak Ave., Burnaby, BC Original Post Ki Cafe might very well be the most charming cafe in Burnaby or even Greater Vancouver. Our daughter was certainly charmed by it. Mostly because of the Manga! There are several large shelves against the wall in this cafe, filled with Manga books. Our daughter is going through a bit of a Manga phase right now so she was quite taken with the Manga shelves and really wants to come back to this place again. On to the main event though. The dessert, because this place is a dessert cafe. You can get a wide variety of desserts here. Cake, cheese tarts, waffles and bubble teas are amongst the many treats they offer. If you're not in the mood for sweets, they do also have a few savoury items on their menu including Omurice and Karaage Don. Ki Cafe is currently participating in the Vancouver Ice Cream Festival. While our daughter ordered a Melona Ice drink, I decided to try the Vancouver Ice Cream Festival offering: Purple U Parfait. It's a gorgeous twist of Matcha soft serve with Ube soft serve. The two flavors were so beautifully intertwined with each other, and I loved all the wonderful toppings that came with it. Our Manga loving daughter is eager to come back here for the Manga, and I'm just as eager to go back for their yummy desserts! Service: Good Parking: Free parking on the street Location: #105-6888 Royal Oak Ave., Burnaby, BC

It's been a number of years since I first visited Ki Tea. Recently came back and enjoyed the mango soft serve (which seemed to use real mango) and Taiwan mango tea. Enjoyed it so much that we came back the next morning to try their food. Unfortunately, the food doesn't live up to their drinks and desserts. The kalbi spam and eggs comes served on a toasted bun but seemed overly salty. The pulled pork with waffles just seemed cold. Actually, all of the cooked food seemed to be not hot at all. I think I'd still come by for their mango soft serve or drinks but I'd probably not bother with their "hot" food items.

Super cool theme. Lots of classic mangas to browse through. The decor is also really nice as well. Chill vibes and good desserts. Got the matcha chocolate waffle and it was pretty tasty!

This is a cute place right by Royal Oak station! Laptops aren't allowed here, but it's perfect to bring a few friends and sit around a while. There's an extensive manga collection and they frequently hold events celebrating kpop groups. The ice cream and desserts here are quite good. The majority of drinks are subpar though, and would rather go elsewhere for those. I find them to be watered down and lacking in flavour. I haven't tried the other foods here though, but they look good. I'll definitely be back to try their foods!

It was small cafe in size. Interior design was so nice and cafe was so clean. Friendly staff service. We tried Chocobanana waffle and it was soooo good. It was 3 minutes walk from Royal Oak Skytrain station and it also had pay street parking. I would really recommend anyone to go there and try. Time limit is only 1 hour when it’s busy.

Perfect place for instagram photos. Beautiful lush decor, cool anime figures, a full bookcase of manga to read, good drinks and cute desserts. Food tastes ok/decent. Tho it's not the best, it's worth it for the pictures. Limited but good menu: a variety of waffles, fried chicken, omurice and curry rice. Food is on the pricier side but not needing to tip (like in Japan or cause it's food court style) makes up for it.

This Cafe is adorable! I love all the anime and manga merch. The staff are really sweet and welcoming and the food was so fresh and tasty. I got the banana waffles and it was so tasty. (Perfect level of sweet) also following covid protocol which I know for a small establishment can be hard, but they do it!

So happy they had a piano that we were allowed to play with. Otherwise everything here was great especially for decors and mangas were nearby to pick up with many series. Wished there was more washroom for people to use because of the great drinks! Ordered the houjicha milk tea, it wasn’t too sweet which was perfect for my taste preference, but the pearls could be a bit more softer especially when it gets cold. And the chocolate matcha waffle was interesting with slight crunch of cereal lol PS. love the spread of anime around the cafe, it’s really cute and added more attention to people for their favorites too!

Such a cozy and beautifully decorated little cafe! I feel like I'm in a Ghibli movie here. Place is a bit small so I can see it getting pretty full easily, so if you're planning to eat in, it might be better to go earlier. I ordered the omurice with demiglace, and it was pretty good, but I wouldn't say it was spectacular. I also ordered the melona drink which was refreshing and also got some cheese tarts which were super yummy. I originally wanted to try a teaccino but they were out of cheese foam :( But overall, super cute spot!

Went on a weekday late afternoon and the place was relatively busy. Most of the tables were occupied with small groups of people. The menu is quite extensive and is available on a touch screen at the till. There is a lot of variety in drinks, many of which are uncommon flavours. There was no lineup at the till and we could take our time perusing the menu and ordering. Drinks were made upon ordering and were picked up at the till. One table was available and we stayed approximately one hour. The seating is a little cramped due to the small space, but not uncomfortable. There is manga to read at the cafe as well, many of which are popular titles. The drinks were well-made and was a fair price for the size.

Cute cafe with loads of manga on one wall. Between the five of us, we ordered four savory dishes, two drinks, and two parfaits. This amounted to about $20/person. I wish the chicken waffles (which was my favourite) came with the salad that's pictured instead of the bit of coleslaw we got instead. I thought the food overall was enjoyable, though nothing particularly special. The drinks, while not bad, were slightly underwhelming, especially considering the price. The matcha latte was a touch weak.

Nice tea time with waffle and omelette rice or curry rice. Cool drinks with desserts as well. You will love here if you are comic or anime lovers!

Beautiful and unique ambience! It has a nice small library of manga comics. I've ordered Kaarage Don that is fresh, hot and incredibly delicious. Also, Matcha Chocolate waffle is good and looks big because of too much whipped cream. Busy but great and fast service. Looking forward to try other dishes.

Love this little place. Delicious waffles and drinks, amazing little cheese tarts, and manga books from wall to wall to read. I still get a little creeped out by the bonito flakes "dancing". The video doesn't show it well as I'd like, but you can see them moving in it. Kind of cool to watch.

Nice little desert gem nearby Royal Oak station. There are Japanese manga books that you can read for free and that is a nice touch. Bakery were decent. We will try the proper meals next time. Good and fun ambience for a tiny cafe.

Really aesthetically pleasing cafe, really live the manga wall and all the plants everywhere. The drinks were okay, I'm not a huge bubble tea drinker and they were a bit bland tasting for me, but we didn't get any food, and it looks great so will definitely be back for cake and coffee next time!
