Not a very big place, but has a fair amount of games and doesn't feel too crowded. They have pay with money games and pay with token games (these give tickets that can be exchanged for prizes). They have several very new arcade machines, which is very nice, but they have several machines that are generally only found in Japan which is awesome. The Japanese arcade games were a ton of fun, and need very little explanation to play. I really enjoyed 'Taiko no Tatsujin' (the drumming game) and 'Monster Hunter Diary: Oink Oink Pig Race' (pig racing Monster Hunter spin off).

Buy Tokens from the token machine if you want to play the ticket games or Street Fighter, and use Loonies for everything else (they have a change machine for loonies). They also have an ATM in-store in the case that you don't have cash. Games are fun for all ages, and you can find excellent entertainment for kids and a wide variety of maintained rhythm games. Treat the staff with respect and they'll be angels to you.

Nifty arcade place with a decent amount of games. Wish there were more translations for some of them though

I like to call this place one of Vancouver's Big Two Arcades. Of the two, it's much smaller with a more limited game selection--half of the games are the ticket-redeeming type--but the other half is where the real fun is at. It is however the more accessible of the two arcades overall, and as a result it has more regulars--people at CHQ really know each other, not just physically, but across various Discord servers too. That, combined with the staff hosting tournaments and going through the trouble of making custom-branded Amusement IC cards, really gives CHQ a strong sense of community. Shoutout to Femme Fridays! They also sell Amusement IC cards that let you save your progress with with all the Bandai Namco, Sega, and Konami games; as well Andamiro's AM.Pass cards. For games that use touch controls, they also sell gloves for $1. If you're lucky, sometimes they'll carry special edition gloves or cards--you can check their Instagram to see when drops are happening.

It is a pretty decent arcade, with a decent selection of games, busy as one would expect of a place like this. There isn't much about it that shines and make it stand out or special, on the other hand I see nothing wrong as well, pretty solid arcade experience. This kind of review is usually accompanied by a 3-star rating for me, but I'll bump it to a 4-star because it is the only place I know that has my favorite arcade game, Pump it Up. And it is a modern cabinet, nice shiny pads, updated software, fans to help players cool off. I appreciate it a lot.

Never coming here ever again. Came in with two of my friends, and we purchased $5 of tokens, but to our surprise, we were escorted out and kicked from the building for no reason at all. We walked in for 2 minutes looking for what to play and were creating a strategy on how to beat the high score for the basketball game. As we were discussing and about to put the coins in the machine, an employee behind us had just told us to leave the building assuming us of playing without paying when we had no intention at all of doing so, and we haven’t even touched the machine at all. We tried to de-escalate the situation by talking with it out, but he kept cutting us out stereotyping us as bad people. This would’ve ruined our experience if we couldn’t get a refund from the other amazing workers. The worker that was kicked us out for no reason is named Corey Elliott.

We have been to many arcades, this was the worst of all. Go bananas is better than this. We didn't know it was a Japanese arcade, otherwise we wouldn't go. Most games are in Japanese. In a few games you win tickets. There are no major prizes to be owon. Hopeless choices and its so expensive given the number of tickets you win in those games. Don't go if you are looking for a fun arcade to spend time with kids. You will regret later

Never coming back to this establishment again!! My 2 friends and I bought 5 dollars worth of token ready to have a great time. We wanted to play this one basketball game, so like any person would do we look at ways to get the highest score. (ex. how many basketballs there were, what the highscore was, how far the hoop is) but suddenly an employee of the arcade came over and accused us of trying to “hack” the machine. My friends and I objected but he (the employee) kept on cutting us off. He stereotyped us as hoodlem kids who wanted to cheat the system but we were not. I showed him our token but he still kicked us out! The employee’s name was Cory Elliot. Thankfully the other wonderful workers gave us our refund back. I DO NOT recommend coming to this place!

A classic go to for the arcade experience. I have enjoyed this place on and off again for over 15 years. A good assortment of games from beat em ups to racing and generous ticket and claw machines. May feel small cramped or busy for people used to larger places. Prizes are suitable for younger kids and not the biggest assortment so i usually pass along my winnings to a family on my way out. A good spot for ddr machines and in my experience people are happy to share/ not hog them. Be respectful of the space and people and you will surely have a great time.

Today, my friends and I visited CHQ, the arcade at Metrotown, at 5:30 pm. Initially, everything seemed fine—we purchased tokens and were exploring the arcade to see what games we wanted to play. However, while looking at the basketball game, an employee named Corey Elliott suddenly accused us of attempting to play without paying or cheating the game by simply looking at the machine. Despite not even using our tokens yet, Corey aggressively confronted us, alleging that he had been watching us since we entered and accused us without any basis. So apparently if you walk to the basketball hoop game at the back you are trying to play for free or cheating. He claimed to have kicked out five others for similar reasons, which seemed unjustified. When we asked for clarification for what we did wrong, he became angry, escalating the situation and promptly kicked us out without providing any evidence to support his accusations. We asked for an explanation multiple times, but Corey Elliott only insisted that we were there to cheat or play for free, despite our possession of tokens. Disappointingly, we were forced to leave without a refund. We later approached another employee for a refund, which was granted. This experience has left us deeply dissatisfied, and we have no intention of returning to this arcade with such horrible, unprofessional, ignorant employees like Corey Elliott.

Very good for kids but most of the adults also playing there to kill the time. Excellent place but you need to choose the correct game to get more winning tickets. Kids will happy if they got 1600 tickets in one shot,it was happened for my kid in one of the game.

FAMILIES BEWARE. One of the workers were caught taking photos of my friends and I’s bottoms. I do not know which employee this was, but I suggest they investigate the workers who were on shift on Wednesday May 3rd 2023. My instinct was to run, I wish I had confronted. Be mindful of your surroundings.

As an avid rhythm game player, I highly recommend this place! The last time I went in it seems like they put in a bunch of new rhythm games, which made the already amazing arcade even better. :D Staff is always super polite! The only minor downsides is that It can get a bit crowded and I’d love for this place to stock some more nesica cards <3

Actually getting a decent play here. They have upgraded their games. Air hockey, driving game, DDR, Time Crisis 5, Street Fighter 5, Deal or No Deal, just to name a few nice games. But there's also the games for kids and those random ones. Employees are really nice. -2 🌟 Just comparing it to TimeZone, Playdium, and other massive arcades, I think they need a real upgrade. Tickets are a bit expensive. I wish to God they have adult basketball. I will just stay there in CHQ and burn money to just play hoops.

Air hockey table is a safety hazard for everyone, I have been hit well over 20 times while playing ITG and it makes this arcade absolutely unplayable. Why has this not been moved even after MANY people have complained, been hit, lost their games and gotten injured from this? Also, terrible sound balancing as the pump it up machine is louder than any other game in the entire arcade, making anything around it unplayable as well. Listen to your customers, the regulars who spend hundreds of dollars a week here, are not impressed.

Nice retro arcade spot to spend some fun times with my daughter. Make sure you get some tokens for those game machine that gives tickets for prizes...besides your regular stack of quarters for usual arcade games. They also have a lot of rare Japanese arcade games there to check out. Friendly and helpful staff too!

The arcade is very good and is one of the places I usually go when I go to Metrotown. The arcade machines are very human and I enjoy playing. Still seeking those cards that can save data in games. I hope to see it someday.

I recommend this arcade for both rhythm gamers and families. CHQ has been getting a lot of great new games lately, especially Japanese rhythm games. The staff are friendly and keep the games well maintained. The only issue is that with so many games and people in such a small space it can become crowded easily.

I visited this place to play Jubeat, but the staff I encountered, especially a woman, were all very unfriendly and gave me somewhat insulting answers to my questions, making me feel a bit offended. They seemed to be bothered by everything. There were two Jubeat machines available, and I could play for $1. The machines were running the Copious version, and e-amusement pass (Konami+Amie card) couldn't be used. The e-amusement pass could be purchased for $8. I will not visit this place again.

I was playing for a long time with my son to win a prize for him in the Spongebob machines and we won many cards. I spent around 300 dollars and when I went to change a prize they told me that I need 9 different cards but I played in all the machines from Spongebob and they only have 8 different cards no machine has card number 7 which is Gary and they tell me I don't have all the cards this is not fair I think slot machines already have their trick to win and now they only put 8 cards making it impossible to get 9 this is robbery 😡
