One of the worst Chinese bbq restaurant I have been to in terms of quality, pricing and atmosphere. Extremely overpriced for the poor quality food they serve. The dishes are either very oily or salty. The skewer meat doesn’t taste fresh and was over saturated with spice powder. The service was sloppy and unprofessional. Funny thing is they expect at least 15% tips for this type of service. If you like hearing a bunch of drunk people around you yelling and screaming while paying for overpriced poor quality food, then this is your place.

Tasty Chinese style BBQ, meat skewers and etc. Decor is okay, could be better. Price is the usual dining out prices, expect more than $40-50/person to feel full, thanks to inflation insanity caused by reckless irresponsible public policies.

A hidden gem…My friends and I were originally looking for potters garden and accidentally walked inside this place without reading the door sign…must’ve been the bright neon lights that drew us in. We got seated right away so we felt we should just try this place out instead. Honestly, I’m glad we decided to stay and eat here because the BBQ was amazing!! It was seasoned really well - not too salty like the ones you get at Richmond night market. My favourite was the squid tentacles, definitely give that a try! The fried seafood noodles was also pretty good with decent amount of seafood. I also recommend you get a pitcher of beer with your BBQ because an ice cold beer is the perfect drink to complement BBQ hehe. 🦑🍻 This place also closes really late which is great! Overall, I would recommend this place if you’re craving some tasty BBQ!

Very friendly staff. They asked if we would want to have less salt and non spicy for all over dishes. The sticky tofu was a surprised for me. I like it a lot. We also ordered skewers, soup, bbq chicken feet, etc. They all taste good. Will be back.

Great atmosphere! The decor is cool, down to the communist propaganda style logos on the dishware. The staff holler a loud welcome greeting in Chinese when someone enters. Beer flights were affordable and quite good, as were the lamb skewers. The cheaper lamb skewers were just as tasty as the more expensive "deluxe" lamb skewers, so go for the cheaper ones. Deep fried chicken knees were good, if you like that kind of crunchy cartilage thing. There was a smoked chicken dish that we found too salty.

Edit: Our second time coming, we got diarrhea. The food was delicious though but this was the only meal we had today... ------------- So good! Bbq Lamb skewer were fresh and delicious. Love the music and vibes.

We have been here for several times. Uncontested tast standard, sometimes are good, sometimes are uneatable. Althought they have less spicy and less salty options, but never follow through. No customer service. Over price with small portion. They used to have great price for the beer ( the only reason we came back ), but now is almost double.

My first time experiencing this type of BBQ! Really good, lots of dishes to experience, I was satisfied with my meal even with my current diet. We had a reservation, party of 3; very casual atmosphere, comfortable, with a good blend of customers. I have seen a family of 3 with a toddler, a group of 6 who were having a round of drinks and food, and plenty of friends sharing a meal. Only one star lost for a fruit fly found twice in the large rocket of beer(had to exchange the rocket of beer twice). Each time though, it was exchanged promptly and with no fuss. I managed to taste: beef, chicken, chicken wings, squid, shrimp, scallops, eggplant, and a chive pastry. All were great- reasonable prices(although my brother said typically this type of BBQ is not cheap), but the flavour is just so good! I usually ask for a dip, but with each meat marinated and seasoned specifically for each dish, I was never bored and in need of dipping sauces. Now it's not my typical restaurant choice- so I had help with the ordering from my brother and his roommate. There is no rush to finish all the food, there is a mini BBQ at your table to keep food warm. The bathrooms were fine(functioning toilet and sink), the service was decently fast- about 15 mins for Skewers to arrive, and that was on a busy (tables were full) Saturday night. And with the service, they are good- very straight-forward. Nice atmosphere and a very good variety of food where all of them tastes great! A great spot for people to dine or snack while grabbing a few drinks. Would highly recommend the skewers as they were all seasoned very well and cooked perfectly. Even the beef and pork are super tender! The only thing I wouldn’t recommend as the Angus Black Truffle rice as it is a bit blend.

This review is on their buffet lunch only! Adult $16.88, seniors 65+ additional 20% off. Lots of meat, veggies and Chinese breakfast selections. Instead of scrambled egg they got tea leaf egg. Chinese donuts, millet porridge, black fungus etc. the bang for your buck would be the manila clams. Some Tiktok videos showed fried shrimp (which I didn't see) so I think the menu does change up a bit. There are complimentary hot tea and hot soy milk (some said the soy milk was watered down but I find it quite nice!) And you are supposed to wait for the staff to serve you aka scoop the foods onto your tray but as you can see from my photo, some impatient customers would reach over and scoop food themselves which is a bit annoying. Once you get in, tell them dine in or takeout and line up. They will provide a metal tray with rice and you basically point to what you want. Later one of the servers would come over to you with card machine. They also have sliced apples and oranges!! Tell them ahead of time if you have seniors or not! It's a good economic alternative in this economy!!

If you're looking for a dinner spot in Burnaby, Northern BBQ delivers a variety of Chinese bbq skewers (e.g. beef, lamb, pork belly, scallop, squid), spiked juice box drinks and many more featured menu offerings in a fun atmosphere. The neon lights and decor really transform the restaurant to make it seem like youre dining in the streets of Hong Kong. The place has some awesome friendly service and will make sure you and your party are having a great time.

Friendly service and cool vibe to hang out with friends! Skewers are good but the dishes are a hit or a miss. They def prioritize variety over quality. The fried fish is rly dry and bland, the stir fried cabbage is also bland and too oily. Liked the eggplant and fish tofu. Dumplings are ok too. Won’t recommend the 韭菜盒子, 带鱼，and the cold dishes are all sweet.

Pretty standard skewer place, though on the expensive side. Strange EDM remixes for music, but I love the neon lights. They give fake grills with candles to keep the skewers warm. I enjoyed the flavour but the meat was dry.

Most authentic northern China skewers and DaPaiDang you're gonna get in Vancouver. Good food (ask for less salt and less oil on EVERYTHING), great service and decoration. Not cheap!! The store is only one year old so all the staff are still very attentive to quality.

Unarguably the most authentic northern BBQ I've ever had in north America. The service was also amazing, I could tell people were genuinely happy to help customers instead of just trying to get tips. Will definitely visit again next time I'm in Vancouver.

We originally planned to come here to try out their bbq (I mean, their name has "bbq" in it) ... Unfortunately, we came during the day when they have a smaller "breakfast" menu and no bbq items. Inside, the interior is filled with neon lights. Quite different than the last restaurant that used to occupy this location. Food was actually pretty good but also slow to come out. The beef rolls were good and the sauce wasn't too sweet. I liked the steamed dumplings - they were quite large and plump. Overall, would have liked to try their bbq. Update: Came back for a revisit during dinner and the skewers turned out great. Especially liked the appy platter where you can choose up to 4 different appys and their dumplings.

It's more on the expensive side, but the food is on point, and the service was pretty good. I would recommend intestine and Xinjiang lamb skewers. The intestine is on the sweet, crispy and quiet juicy. The Xinjiang lamb meat is freaking delicious, and the meat is definitely different from other countries.

New bbq restaurant in Burnaby. The skewers were delicious and juicy. They have a drink cart with lots of selections and there is ample free parking in the parking lot and on the side streets!

I tried the chicken skin, bbq beef skewers and chicken wings. All of the dishes were delicious. I liked their warming tray to keep everything hot. Upbeat atmosphere and friendly staff.
