All in all, a good experience to be there. It is hard to complain anything about this friendly store as everything is nice and comfy. The food portion is just nice and pricing was alright considering the yummilicious quality. The Spring chicken is a must try. Keep it up Rejoicing!

[ok la] 1) overall - Chinese stir-fry restaurant located at Butterworth with plenty of seating but limited parking, expect queue during peak hour but food served fast, handful of food selection with good steamed fish, steamed lala, popiah and prawn cracker to offer, average cleanliness offered by 王清发海鲜 Ong Cheng Huat Seafood. 2) steamed fish - fresh fish, plenty of fish meat, steamed with generous portion of ginger, stock was very flavourful and sweet, must order! 3) steamed lala - fresh lala was steamed with normal ingredient like ginger and cili pado but the stock was full of flavour, comes together with a hint of wine taste, must order! 4) steamed octopus and fish ball - loved the texture of the octopus as it was steamed to perfection without having to chew vigorously, fish ball was very fresh, came with a dipping sauce but never needed it 5) Kerabu - fresh and citrusy, nice to have to clear out the palette 6) sweet chilli mantis prawn - kid's favourite, tasted average 7) stir fry vege tasted average too 8) Fried bihun - below average as we barely could taste that it was fried, more like a bihun combine/mix with dark sauce 9) Aiyu drink - sweet, nice to have when you are having a hot day, would be nicer if it taste a little more sour.

Overall food tasted nice. The fried ice cream, steam lala and prawn pancake is worth the try Service been one of the best one so far. Very fast to get our food. Take note: Restaurant cannot be seen from the roadside and have to drive through a gravel road.

Awesome food at Old Cheng Huat Seafood restaurant. Love the fried bee hoon so much! The steamed fish head and prawns are so delicious and fresh. Hubby also love the fried chicks and the prawn paste crackers (popiah) The honey lemon drink is so good too!

Have been a long while since my last visit here. Menu hasn't changed much, simple and very limited dishes available. Prices are reasonable. Their deep fried whole spring chicken signature dish was unfortunately not available during this visit. For those who fancy fresh ''toddy"(palm wine),seek no further, your search ends here.

One of the well known restaurant in Butterworth. Food served fast. The Steamed Fish looked normal but taste great. The little chicken has been well marinated and fried to perfection. The fried pan cake was good too. It’s converted from a small factory so it’s spacious. Cleanliness need some improvement. Plenty parking outside restaurant. The road to restaurant very tight.

Personally felt overated. Ok, the chicken wings and octopus were unique and alright. But the mantis prawn definetely tastes like it was left overnight and reheat for us. It was soggy and at the same time soggy. Quite pricey and personally i think it doesn't worth the price.

Penang Working Trip - pitstop Butterworth! When going to Penang, have you ever thought of staying in the mainland aka Seberang Perai instead of the island itself? I'm guilty to be one of them too. And of course I know that the mainland is never short of good food. And their seafood is especially cheaper compared to dining in the Penang Island itself. Ong Cheng Huat was featured in Axian's TV show before many many years ago and that time, this relatively hidden seafood restaurant was inundated with sudden surge of hungry foodies coming all over the country to eat. Even my friend also complained that he had trouble initially to eat lunch here after the restaurant got popular. Fast forward many years later, I drove to Butterworth again and we made our way here.. still as popular but not as packed. Quite secluded as you have to drive through narrow road to reach this place from the main road. I left the ordering to my customer who has lived here all his life. What served in our table later were pretty much what was eaten many years ago when I first visited him. ◾Fried prawn crackers - apparently made with fried popiah skin and the crunchiness was next level. Very addictive stuff when dipped into the chilly sauce. ◾teo chew steamed fish - DO NOT, I mean do not ever miss ordering this fish... fleshy but steamed just nice with garlic, ginger and chilly - different from your usual teo chew style fish in Klang Valley. I'm not a big fan of fish but I love the flavour. ◾steamed clam - plump & juicy type, not those skinny ones that you'd usually get... steamed nicely with ginger and Chinese wine. Plenty of kick if you love your shellfish. ◾boiled octopus - drizzled with garlic oil + fried garlic, and then served with sweet chilly sauce + crushed peanuts ◾deep fried spring chicken - highly recommended.. seasoned and deep fried perfectly to a juicy and tasty fowl. I devoured at least half bird, wanted more but had to control myself. A savoury delight. ◾Fried mee hoon - a good dose of wok hei, not too oily and rather generous with the ingredients For first timers, just order these signature dishes... They don't have physical menu and rather limited dishes. However they do have pictures of dishes plastered on the wall for you to see and point.

Quite disappointed. Visited there last few years ago before the MCO. Yesterday went again and the food taste is not good as before. The portion is not big, the price is not cheap also or consider standard price. After so many years, the restaurant still dont have epayment and credit card payment. They only accept cash or bank transfer. Car Parking still okay, if go around 1pm should be not an issue.

Always great to come back here to feast on the 'Chicken little', which is their top famous dish by the way. Another dish that you shouldn't miss is the baby octopus, a must try! The place was spacious and air circulation was good as well, so you won't really feel the heat. Did I mention the place is spacious? With plenty of tables you shouldn't have to wait long to get yourself serve, the food was served in pretty quick manners as well. Overall great place.

Very fresh seafood and fair service. But there's no price list. We ordered four items in smallest portion but didn't ask the price one by one. It turned out there was a dish that's far more expensive than I thought to be. Lack of transparency.

A local brought us here. What a drive. Was so surprise to find ourselves at such a hidden place. Very simple but spacious seafood restaurant, not much deco but the food is nice. Must try their friend mini chicken and squids. Super nice. Tried their special alcohol drinks too. A type of coconut wine, can b mixed with Guinness to create a different flavor. But it is an acquired taste. I love it but hubby dislike it. Haha

Finally got chance to pay a visit as I missed out their operating hour last time. Crowded as always but you’re surely able to find a seat as i went on peak hour during a long weekend and could be seated rightaway. Menus are on wall which can be referred to. Parking outside the restaurant. Overall a pretty good spot for affordable seafood choice. Food served pretty quick considering the crowd at the restaurant. Ordered steamed fish, gongbao mantis prawn, crispy popiah, fried meehoon (B), octopus, steamed lala & chicken wings. They’re famous for their tuak but since we’ll be driving off so didn’t order that. The steamed fish is the best and not to be missed. crispy popiah is to die for too. Unexpectedly the fried meehoon was really nice. They didn’t serve rice which I think is a good strategy to get people order more dishes and eat faster. Good courtesy from the worker to double checked with us for adding additional 2 portions of meehoon forgetting that we ordered a big portion. Recommended for a visit.

The food here is good in general, basically you can order those dishes in posters on the wall without worry. The steam fish is nice and sweet, octopus is quite simple but nice in its way, curry prawn is fresh & tasty, mantis prawn and escargot are rich in flavour and not forgetting their signature fried quail, fried prawn pancake and fried mee hoon. They offer coconut wine, herbal tea and warm water only, no hot Chinese tea. And they don’t serve steam rice too. The place is usually packed but serving is fast. Btw, they DON’T accept credit card, CASH only !

This place was crowded so my friends and I thought it'd be nice 🙂 But, the menu was so limited. It says it's a seafood restaurant but it doesn't have any if the popular seafood menus like SEY sotong or crab or the better prawn dishes It has chicken wings, but the woman who took the order didn't specify that there was 2 types and one of it was WHOLE baby chicks 🤦🏻‍♀️ and it costs RM8 for one The fish, was fixed to be served with only half a side(RM60) They have an octopus dish too but.. it was only steamed octopus with some fishballs.. so disappointed Our meal cost us more than RM200 ½fish, 5 chicken wing & drumlets, 5 whole baby chick, homemade tofu(10pc +/-), popiah(mostly just crusty flour), sweet herbal tea & honey lemon (1.5L each). Other than speed, the food isn't all that great. NOT recommended!

The steam fish taste still good but the spring chicken tastes a bit out after almost 10 years never come here..... The old wooden house has been abandoned and moved to a new concrete shop.......

Had lunch there with a few Penangites and Kedahans. A well-known restaurant among the northerners. I personally find it to be mediocre. The fried prawn pancake is OK. The taste of the other dishes was just so so. I didn't enjoy the noodles because they tasted funny ... somewhat burnt. Overall, there's not much to comment on.

Decently cooked local food, flavourful and tasty. However, as a tourist, too out of the way and not worth to travel all the way over. A bit pricey compared to local standards about 50 RM per pax for the dishes in photo

Very old taste restaurant, just order and enjoy their usual dishes, like kong pow mantis prawn, steamed fish, char beehoon, prawn crackers, octopus tentacles etc you won't go wrong with any of them

Don't get worried by the small narrow winding road. It's just a small segment before you reach the restaurant. Fortunately it does have an adequate parking area for foodies. This restaurant has a very simple down to earth kind of decor. No fancy adornment to detract you but the lack of it conversely turns off some diners. The eating area however is huge and very breezy from the multiple ceiling fans. The most important drink to order is their TUAK. This is one of the freshest most delicious tuak you can find in this area. I personally don't like over fermented tuak so this is perfect for me. When mixed with black dog, it's a heavenly combination. It certainly pairs well with their dishes. I wouldn't call their food a reinvention of dishes but they do an above average job of it. Their prawn crackers is a definite dish for the tuak. The fried quail / squab is also their speciality which taste surprisingly tender and delicious for snack-ish enjoyment. I must recommend that you order the steamed squid. Perfectly done. Tender, juicy and delicious. The clam / lala is nicely seasoned but the fried bihun mee is average at best. I tried their mango kerabu but found it too wet, under seasoned and a little tasteless. In short, order a tuak and black dog, complement it with prawn crackers, steamed squid and you are set.

Fresh seafood. The specialty is the steam fish head. This place you can have the coconut toddy to mixed with Guinness Stout. Another great dish is the steam baby octopus 🐙...

This place hidden in a shack out of the road is truly a gem. They are only open for lunch. The cooking was superb! Simple food but done really well. And the quirky thing is they do not serve rice. Only fried noodles as your main staple dish.

Ambience: 4/5 Food: 3/5 Service: 5/5 If you want to ensure a place to park, be early. This restaurant does not have a huge menu and hence very focused on their offerings. But we find them rather average. Perhaps their business have grown and they kind of like cook in mass production.

Good food and quite crowded. Must go earlier. All food is standard. Everyone wi be sharing the same food. Not needed to wait long for food. If you go during peak hour then surely you need to wait for seat. It close at 530pm. And open at 11am.

Great choice of seafood. Food is good. Very fast service. Price is reasonable. Need to improve the cleanliness of the unisex toilets. A lot of cobwebs above the toilets too.

Is not easy to find the place as its located in inner kampung housing areas.. but there is a sign board by the main roads.. go by Waze would be easier.. do be careful by the busy traffic as you turning in the junction... (along the way it feels like going to someone house) about 5 min drive from the main road you see the signboard by the shops.. overall good was good.. reasonable price.. busy during lunch time.. for sure busy in weekends.. There are parking but maybe limited during busy hours.. toilet was ok.. (the wet type) Friendly staff...

Important advice: This place don’t accept credit card only CASH. This place is hidden inside industrial areas and quite challenging to drive in with big car 😅 Good recommendation from relatives live in Penang as not far from the ferry jetty. Ordered their signature dishes and honestly speaking the food here is a bit salty. They don’t serve rice only noodles are available.
